"imagine a bus..."
but the bus is an elevator
Classic
This is not Mario but he can jump high.
ah yes... :)
@@aloha5786 I mean, how much different are a bus and an elevator? An elevator is basically like a train that goes up/down, and a bus is a train without rails.
4:00 - I like the fact that the "imagine a bus" explanation of the Mario Bros frame rule system is so recognisable that it gets a laugh from a crowd of speedrunners.
It's more because it's not just mario bros - that may have been the origination (not even sure it was) but definitely the thing that made it catch on
It's just such a common concept in running, and its the simplest explanation for someone who doesn't run that it was just kind of universally adopted
@@PJOZeus it’s moreso like an in-joke within the community that made them laugh i think
@@joey-pace yeah it's probably better to explain it like an actual elevator and not overcomplicate it, but the bus thing is funny
love that they used the tv in the game to help explain the game
bailey’s one input was the best part of the run
Single most important additional to any TAS run in history... :)
That finale 4 skip is officially the greatest moment in TAS speedrun history
How did we not think of adjusting the player's secondary hitbox rotation value until now? XD
@@Hunted0LessShirt thats a super small detail id bet
It was watching this run that I realized their names on the left were lighting up any time they were talking. A very nice and most likely under-appreciated detail.
I'm sorry but that intro incorporating the tutorial into the video was hilarious
watching the skips from 3rd person at the end was really awesome
19:06 "They're the pale spherical things that are full of bullets. Oh, wait. That's you in five seconds. Good luck!"
(Completes room in four seconds)
*im four parallel universes ahead of you*
Of course Krzyhau is the only provider of inputs for Triple Laser.
18:16
TAS Portal speedrun
We jump in the goop
Because
We can
God's I love TAS runs - this is absolutely amazing
I know it didn't look like much, but that Finale 4 skip was absolutely incredible. Absolutely mind-boggling.
That mod is brilliant - kudos for the fun and succinct explanation of mechanics!~
"this is actually pretty simple"
TAS, "CRACKHEAD MODE ENGAGED"
Neat
Neat
We love you and your runs, king activity
This is essentially don't blink the tas.
It's great to see Can't Even return to GDQ for some more Portal action
This TAS changed my life
The mod was cool in the beginning for the tutorial sure it helped a lot of people
I tried watching some of the tricks at 0.25 speed and still couldn't see everything, wow
try 1/60th speed lol
It's Samus Aran's speed, she's so fast her tricks are passing unnoticed.
I love how Baister only provided *_one_* single input for the run.
I fell asleep halfway through and now I'm watching the VOD BTW LETS GO SGQ & FOR DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS!!!!
Best TAS I've watched in a while!!
I met mlugg over drinks a few months back- great guy and fantastic at pool!
unless i have severe memory loss i did not meet you but i'll take the compliment anyway
also i suck at pool
@@mlugg5499 lmfao
amazing TAS and presentation!
And Burger40, szeimartin, sear, Blenderiste09, AMJ, Amtyi, Rainbow, Lucasskywalker, Krzyhau, Baister09, and I
Great run! Been loving this GDQ
Fantastic video, normal human portal 2 speedruns never ceases to amaze but this was just mind blowing!
The technology is truly impressive, was kinda skeptical at first but wow
« So this room has wall and here we are at the end, and now we wait for elevator »
Amazing tas from an amazing community
HOW DID I MISS THIS HELL YEAH P2SR COMMUNITY !!
This is amazing and I love these people
The speech, especially with the bus joke, is godlike
Bus explanation is the best explanation.
funny thing is because the normal strafejumping method looks so unnatural it actually looks faster (to me at least) than what the TAS is doing.
This was breathtaking. I'm so glad I started watching speedrun explanation videos a while back. That's how I found out about Can't Even, which is how I followed his channel on Twitch, which is how I found out about this TAS, which is how I got to watch speedrunning history get made in real time. Thanks everyone.
Haha 3:15 the tutorial mod is brilliant 👏. Nice job with that one guys
Thank you. ALL the runs I wanted to see was on at like 5am because of time zones. I never played these games but I really like watching others play it. 🥰
Krzhau scriping a triple laser had to have place xD
Although if you think about it the statement they made right after Bailey's input is technically true..
If I'm understanding tas software correctly it just reads off lines in a notepad document every single tick telling the controller what to do, so if the row containing Bailey's input was just straight up removed the rest of the run would be an entire tick off...
Not sure if that would break the run or not, but it is an interesting thought.
each map was done individually so technically it only would have messed up the rest of the map, and not the rest of the game
still, his input in spirit carried the TAS to completion
Yes/no. Portal 2 tasses have two forms of letting the TAS know when to run inputs, normal tick notation and + notation. If a TAS is written in entirely tick notation, so every line starts with exactly which tick it should run on, then removing a line wouldn't change anything since the following lines are still running at the ticks set, however + notation starts lines with how long after the previous line to wait before starting the current line, so say +20>> at the start would run that line 20 ticks after the previous line. Also, each TAS is broken down into chamber, so technically only the rest of Prop Intro (the map Bailey's input is on) would be off if + notation was used there.
The modded monitor display was a great touch. Now we just need the voice lines of the NPCs to be replaced with AI voice lines that break the 4th wall and narrates the TAS
I like that it was just a video of a run so a run within a run 😏 great video.
i love the laughter during chambers 3 and 4. absolute cackling
what the fuck finale 4 skip real. what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck
Any speedrun explanation ever:
"Okay, now imagine a bus.."
That is incredible.
Now, we're thinking with Portals!
Believe me we are thinking with much more than just portals
Portal 2, except GLaDOS now has a portal gun instead of Chell.
That is amazing
22:03 goddamn it's so perfect that triple lasers done by Krzyhau
This is the result if glados was cloning and training chell over and over
Believe me, the TAS just did a bunch of cool stuff
There is a sole developer still updating Portal 2 to this day? What a legend? Wonder if he gets paid enough to do that.
i love portal 2
great shot = grate shot...
genius.
I like how the controller input display is a merge of the Xbox One controller and the Playstation controller
This is history
Wheatley- "You probably have brain damage"
Chell- *Jumps*
Translation- "Shh I'm watching this informational speedrunning video."
3:10 i loved how Chell TAS gets scared lmfao
GLaDOS be all like "Crap she played SM64"
glad to see hungarians be a part of portal speedrunning 😁
My dude on the right has some impressive calves
And the dialogue bus goes vroom vroom
45:30 "We are gonna peek into this room-"
_"Did something break back there?"_
haha I love the hype from the crowd at 32:15
Amazing run! Great commentary too especially considering how fast the tricks go by. though I'll have to look up what a out-of-bounds run looks like if this is "In-bounds". (Not arguing with the route definition btw, the runners obviously know more than me.)
out of bounds SLA (a.k.a. any%) is not currently ran a lot, and there is no TAS for that category made or in the works as of now. I would be interested in working on an any% TAS, but unfortunately there are some technical problems that need to be worked out before we can do that.
@@CantEven look forward to seeing that in the future, it will be awesome!
This is the real reason the aperture AI is hardwired to not allow test assistance
cool tas
I think this tas guy is using some external tools, should be looked into
4:37 Don't think I didn't see that Triple Laser reference there!
I mean, Kyrzy made the vid, so what did you expect lol
Wait, that's not how the bus stop analogy works, you're not supposed to be on the bus!
Portal 2. A game which alot of people don't even know about but a game that made the world a better place none the less
i think everyone knows about it
i can't believe they made thus run as fas tas possible(pun intended)
ok not gonna lie the TV was genius
i was every minute saying "oh i finished that level in like 40 minutes" then the tas procedes to complete it in 3 seconds shooting portals and moving in ways that are impossible for humans to do
the irony of a robot speed running protal 2.
Summoning Salt made his way into this
What?
Brain.exe has stopped working
42:27 You guys have an interesting definition of "inbounds"
Still inside "playable" space. Out of bounds is mostly referring to when you go outside the background scenery and everything becomes black.
the only thing left is to trigger the next level's dialogue while waiting for the previous level's dialogue to end.
Fun Fact: In the german Version wheatley ist spoken by the german voice of Brad Pitt. Tobias Meister.
Nice
aah, good old elevator sim
imagine a speedrun mod TAS
Wow
imagine a bus
This was really impressive, but as someone who does suffer from motion sickness, I wish they didn’t spin the camera around so much when they were waiting for the elevator and other such moments when there was no reason to
When they talk about that it's a shame they couldn't show X because it goes by too fast. It's a shame they didn't realize that they could have just slowed down the interesting parts in post, it's a prerecorded run after all :)
Still a great run though, no shade at all!
You can actually see that Part in the Credits (just in Third Person View).
The reason they couldn't slow it down is because the Recorded run needed to be equal to the Ingame time
52:00 this is binary (01010100 01000001 01010011) and means "TAS". Best name, change my mind.
Did they ever explain the four buttons in the center of the controller overlay? I caught the J is Jump, but the rest I couldn't figure out.
J is jump, D is Duck, U is use and Z is zoom
Even at quarter speed it's baffling.
43:13 Hi, P-body!
Why was he there?
@@Ze7p its just a small easter egg in the game that the tas happens to catch
17:01 it’s cool this chamber isn’t different from the rta IL
Same idea, way different execution
I only recognize three people here that does anything with p2sr, might explain why a lot of people were confused just by betsrighter
I am just curious when a portal is being fired cause the ui lights up the blue or orange portal thing saying a portal was placed but then it's like 5 frames later on the input viewer that it shows an input being pressed so is that just the input viewer being slow or whats up with that?
The input viewer is a completely different video that had to be layered on top of and synced with the gameplay, so desyncs are just human error
"live recorded, then stitched together and played back" So its segmented TAS?
who's this tas player and where is he from? hes so good!!
The game looks like it has higher contrast/vibrancy than normal. Anyone know why?
The run was recorded with demos and then rendered into a video with SAR which allowed us to use very high quality settings and stuff to make it look better (for example artificially increasing the brightness in dark areas to make it more watchable)
@@lucasskywalker64 ah ok. That makes sense
