To be fair he does call out some tricks that can't be considered glitches, it's just mechanic exploit. But there were some glitches, like the one that the runner himself called it a glitch, and some clipping.

I know I'm late on this but you should watch BBGN's video "Let's Talk About Mirror's Edge Glitchless" and you'll understand the comedy of the situation. Basically those two are actually good friends and speedrunners of the game, and one thing about the "glitchless" category is that it was never intended to be "truly glitchless." Glitchless was just the best name the community could come up with for the route. It was meant to be an "easier" speedrun for people new to the game.
This all ties into how Mirror's Edge came to even be a game at all. When DICE created a new physics engine, they coded a parkour simulator pretty quickly to show it off. The heads at EA liked it so much they basically forced them to make a full game out of it but with a very short deadline. This is why the "story" of the game is so one-dimensional, why there's an extremely limited soundtrack, and why there are so many bugs in the game. If you play the game purely as the devs meant you to, it works mostly fine 99% of the time. If you get even a little creative though or try to go even a little bit faster than intended you very quickly unearth a heaping pile of spaghetti code that was very obviously rushed. That's why it's so arbitrary what is or isn't considered a glitch. You could be a good little submissive gamer playing the game exactly as the devs intended and still run into glitches completely by accident. Not a very good speedrun if you have to reset because you inadvertently hit a frame perfect jump after a vaulting animation which gives you a speed boost.

Rlly recommend watching the full run of it makes you feel alot less bad for the runner, still one of the best comedic skitts in GDQ history imo
He didn't, the name is a bit confusing, but other than that "glitchless" is a valid way to speedrun, a truly glitchless speedrun would be frustrating in a lot of games since if the game accidentally glitched, bam! you're suddenly competing in any%, thus minor glitches is allowed.

@@trizzyplease69 Normally a category named glitchless would be just that: no glitches at all (a glitch being something with a specific definition within the speedrunning community, I can't remember what it is off the top of my head.) However it seems like this category would be more befitting of the "No Major Glitches" title, as hinted at near the beginning of the video.

Just to add on what the previous commenter has explained, the definition of what a "glitch" is can differ from each speedrunning community. The basic gist is utilizing elements in the game that is not part of the intended gameplay mechanic.
One reason why the couch commentator was openly mocking it (they practiced doing the commentary with the runner beforehand, meaning the mockery is fully intentional), was because, for what's considered a "glitchless" speedrun of this game, the rules for it do allow numerous actions that would be normally considered a glitch and arbitrarily prohibits the use of some intended gameplay mechanic such as skipping cutscenes, which is an actual gameplay feature that was intentionally placed in by the game developers as a part of the game.
Legalizing glitches in a glitchless category is quite unheard of, but this is one rather extreme case of speedrunning communities practicing their right to define what can be considered a "glitch" for their speedrun category.

The guy playing the speed run isn’t in on it, he made a response to this event occurring explaining why he felt justified calling these rules glitch less. It’s like a 30 minute long video if I remember correctly.

I watched this years ago without understanding the context behind it. Now that I do, this is actually pretty hilarious.
