I saw them in NY with no Mike. He joined for other parts of the tour. Got to see Mike and Micky 2 days ago. They were amazing. Did tributes to Davy and Peter, may they RIP.
These days Micky and Mike tour as the 'Micky & Mike Show', playing all of their Monkees and solo hits, along with tributes to Davy and Peter. Rest in peace Davy and Peter.
love the monkees then now,and forever they were broth toghter to make the world shine with peace and love RIP davy god is good all the time they will be all toghter in another time and place watch they every sat on fetv 9 till11
I should feel more guilty. I never even saw an episode of The Monkees until 1986. But once I heard all four Monkees would perform at the Universal show, nothing was going to keep me away. I usually worked Sunday nights, but not THAT Sunday night. I had the insane good fortune to win a pair of tickets the very next weekend from KRTH, but if I hadn't won the tickets, I would have been at Ticketron as soon as I could get there after that weekend was over. I took my best friend and our seats were way, way, way, way up -- if they'd been much further back, we'd have been outside the amphitheatre. But we were THERE, and it was a blast. It's nice that you found a way to be part of that chapter of Monkeemania, even if you didn't make it to the concert.
R.I.P. Becky {my sister,} Davy and Peter. I was at this concert. I remember clearly that Thursday, July 8th night on the old Nashville Network, Peter was to make an appearance on their nighttime talk show. He was going to make "official" what the fans had been going ape over already knowing: that Mike would be joining Peter, Davy and Micky on stage. When I heard those words coming from Peter's mouth, to my ears, I went ape! This was "one of those things" that happens to other folks but not you. Yet, it was about to do so. I had been packing all day because my parents and I were going to be hopping a plane the next day, to CA to see my sister, brother-in-law, nephew and niece and go to the concert that night. {My sister had gotten 3 tickets-the other 2 were for sis/bro-in-law she got them for my birthday. My birthday had been in April.} Then the next day, I went and saw them get their Walk Of Fame star and attended the press conference afterwards. Two days I will always remember. R.I.P. Becky, {my sister,} Davy and Peter.
Sorry for your loss. 😢 I have a sister named Becky as well. Never got to see any of the Monkees. I got to see them get the Hollywood star. 🌟 and a Press meeting on you tube. 😔 always wanted to meet them. I have loved Peter since I was around 3yrs old. I'm going to be 51 in November. 😂 R. I. P. Becky, Davy and Peter.
In Los Angeles we didn't have to wait until so late to know we were going to get all four Monkees in concert. KRTH-101 FM was promoting the Universal Amphitheatre concert as an all-four-Monkees-onstage event at least as far back as the previous weekend, when they were giving out pairs of tickets for the show every hour. The "all-four" aspect made it into a show I HAD to get to, and if I didn't win tickets I'd be at Ticketron over at Fox Hills Mall as soon as I could get there Monday But -- !!!SURPRISE!!! -- I was the correct-number caller in the 11PM hour on Sunday night, the second of July, in the glorious year of 1989. Right after I got home from my weekend job. I arranged to leave work early the following Sunday night, and took my best friend to the show with me, exactly 34 years ago from the day I'm writing this. She brought her binoculars so we could take turns seeing the show a little closer up -- our seats were way back almost as far from the stage as you could get and still be inside the amphitheatre. Very sadly, we lost her, my best friend for 38 years, going on two years ago -- not long before Mike Nesmith. Time passages ...
They all sing a little better and shine a bit brighter when Mike joined them ..testimony to how happy they are to be together again and how well the 4 work together...They were made to be a quartet with eachother! Wow...Columbia pictures has some nerve...charging.them for their name...they just wear their name so well , that it makes it theirs!! Imagine a parent , charging their kid for their name! Come on Columbia pictures...let it.go!!!
I always thought these guys are great. Both onstage and in their TV performances. I truly believe that if they'd stayed together along with other people this time music and lyrics from the 90s to now and we would have felt more decency in entertainment. We've lost that forever
I met Micky about 2 years ago in a local bar in the villages FL.. it was shocking. He was my Fav.. I got to meet my other teen love Donny Osmond thanks to my friend that works at the Flamingo.. 1 o’clock in the morning and he was down at the front desk my friend called me and said get down here now I put on a purple dress and ran downstairs because of course I had been up but got some pretty cool pictures with the Donny also Micky..
They DO tell Columbia to stick it where the sun don't shine, but then Columbia shows them the binding contract and threaten legal suits and they shut the fuck up.
Mike was my fav, great song writer...BUT HE really disappointed me with his refusal to join the others through the years UNTIL Davy died... SUXXX and now he tours doing Monkee songs????
@@thefonzkiss He said that but he did tour with Micky and Peter for a few years. Musically I think Mike and Peter are in sync enough. Curious about Mike and Davy’s business relationship. It seemed like their music and possibly group business ideas (80s,90s?) may have been different? I’m just speculating though. I know very little
I understand There are rules to be followed when it comes to music. Any of you out there explain to me there are four guys that make up the Monkees of course the name is with Columbia. What I don't understand Davy , Mike, Micky & Peter are the Monkees. Who else is going to use the name Monkees? Except these four guys why do they have to pay to use a name that made them famous?
Because they didn't start out as a real band, they started out as a TV show. The name is the "intellectual property" of Columbia or Screen Gems or RayBert or whoever actually owns it, not the four members of The Monkees. They didn't organically come together as a band that named themselves "The Monkees." They were hired as actors for a TV show called "The Monkees" and that TV is owned by Columbia/Screen Gems and that's it. It's a business, and if you're gonna go out on the road and perform live and make personal appearances and record music and make tons of money doing it, all while using someone else's "intellectual property," then you're legally bound to give that person or entity their fair share of the profits. It's a no-brainer, actually. Would you be happy if someone was making money off of something you created without paying you anything for it?
Oh dear Mike was never one to just rest on his money . He made a lot more music, wrote lots and lots of songs, produced and performed in comedy I think rivals Saturday night live and produced work for other folks. Both he and Peter really had a that gut feeling to make their own m u sic and then jump in when it felt right. My goodness Peter went off and played the organs of great cathedrals, not for fame fortune or even cameras. But no, nez didn't just sit b on mommy's money, nor did he throw it in everybody's face.
Last Train to Clarksville.....what a tune!
Thanks for the memories and the good times till to come listening to the Monkees.
I saw them in NY with no Mike. He joined for other parts of the tour. Got to see Mike and Micky 2 days ago. They were amazing. Did tributes to Davy and Peter, may they RIP.
Seeing them in Milwaukee!! Can't wait!!
Now that Mike's work is done here, he can RIP too!
I wish I could have been there
@@alfx5432 That would have been awesome! 🙏 ❤

Yeah Davy and Peter have caught that Last Train to Clarksville and now they are never coming home.
Sad to say, now Mike has joined that train and isn't coming home. 😢 RIP
Mike is on The Last Train to Clarksville! But, I like to think he's going to a Heavenly home!
God bless all four of them :)
One of my favorite songs ❤

Inolvidables y fantásticos the monkees únicos e irrepetible talento!!! Sumamente encantadores!!!
this is flipping awesome!! I always thought "Cruisin" would have been a great Monkees tune!
I was living back home in LA in 89 an wanted to attend this. Ended up missing it, but was at their Hollywood Star Ceremony.

I saw Davy Jones at Disney World and he was terrific.

@ 3:10 is absolutely wonderful!
That sucks that the Monkees have to pay Columbia to use the name Monkees! I would tell Columbia to go stick it where the sun don't shine.
I very much agree with you.
They DO tell Columbia to stick it where the sun don't shine, but then Columbia shows them the binding contract and threaten legal suits and they shut the fuck up.
Can’t agree with u more! Without the 4 guys, they wouldn’t have “The Monkees!”
❤❤❤❤
I was there!
Me too, with my best friend. We practically needed a telescope to see the stage from our seats, but we were THERE!
It's sad, Only Mickey is left
💓

He didn’t get on with Peter Tork.
He had his own successful none Monkees career (video company)and he really profited from it. Thus he was quite busy.

Lotta people here need some education in how the world works.
"Who else is going to use the name Monkees?"
It's already happened... Late 80s - The New Monkees. They had a failed show and album. Look it up.
My birthday! 😁
1989 wasn't all bad then
No
That was disappointing. I was expecting to see them perform at least one song uninterrupted. I am not interested in all that yapping instead.
Nesmith inherited $50 million when his Mom sold White-Out to Gillette. Who the hell needs to perform with the group that made his azz famous?

Mike didn't need the money...His mother invented WHITE-OUTand he inherited the patent and the royalty fortune...
