    A Hoosier 50s Hot Rod’s Story
On a car safari in 1957 through the hills of southern Indiana, Karl Kinser (World of Outlaws Sprint Car King) found my 1929 Ford Roadster body in a barn. I had been brought here from California.
My present owner, Claude Kern, helped build me. They channeled my body and used a Model A front end. My rear end was sectioned from a 1948 Ford. A 1956 Chevy 265 Power-Pack engine complete with three two-barrel carbs and a three speed was installed. I was painted red after being turquoise blue.
In May of 1960 my current owners, Claude and Sara Kern, purchased me. On their honeymoon a 301 Chevy, with a McGurk cam and ported heads was installed.
Later I got to be trailered by a gray over pink 1955 Chevy. We even went as far north as Chicago and up into Wisconsin for a race one time. Other strips we raced at were Bunker Hill (Famous Target Range for Hot Rods), Bullit Dragway at Louisville KY, George Field at Lawrenceville IL, and Chandler in southern Indiana.
On Sept. 17, 1961 at Indianapolis Raceway Park I turned a time of 13.35 with a speed of 105 mph.
In 1961, the 7th annual NHRA season admission for spectators was $1 and $3 to participate. We have come a long way baby!
