The only real important thing is the victim gets the treatment and help she needs and deserves. The attacker is a professional at this based upon the pattern of his rap sheet and did not fear consequences in the courts. Either give him consequences or the court should apologize to the victim for failing her as a system. Victim's rights should be more important than the attacker.
You're right, they should be more important, but they're not. It's exactly the opposite and it's contributing to societal decay. At this point, no one should fool themselves thinking the judicial system will do anything to hold violent offenders accountable for anything. My advice, since you didn't ask for it? Stay armed, with both non lethal and lethal options so that you can keep yourself safe. People will literally stand by and film you being assaulted or worse, and do nothing to help or intervene.
