All states are different. Ohio has the death penalty and iowa doesn’t. Some states have an age limit to who they sentence to death. It’s the judges call and it depends on where you are. It’s not the nation it’s just the state. They all handle murder differently.

well, you end up getting both. most people on death row aren't executed for 10-25 years. even longer if they can stretch out the case and keep appealing it. yeah there's prison, then there's max security prison, but oh man- being surrounded by people who WILL die in prison and already KNOW it; that's a new depth of unnecessarily violent and crazy
It's ridiculous. People don't realize the shock, nor the mental health of these killers. Unfortunately, its language like this that apologizes for the death sentence. A barbaric ruling. Much rather put them to work in a prison for the rest of their lives. Who knows, they might even do some good for the world.
CooCooWizard I agree. What’s also funny is how they always make a fool of someone who has an emotional reaction, and then they try to justify their shaming of the individual by saying the courtroom is no place for letting emotions get in the way. Let’s be honest, if this guy was 30 years old, no one would care Edit: I am sorry if I offended anyone, I know this is a sensitive topic, and the reply’s have really changed my mind on this subject. There’s so much I want to say but, I now think the worst punishment for someone is life in prison. The only exceptions are mass murders from people who don’t have remorse or war crimes (which are usually also mass murders) When I say life in prison, I MEAN LIFE IN PRISON. A good judge should never take a bribe. What if they are found innocent during their sentence? Release them, I know it sounds shallow. But, what if someone executed is found innocent? Then, that would be worse because you technically killed someone innocent. If someone dies in the middle of custody due to natural circumstances, it’s less guilt. About the boy himself, he should spend a few years in prison. They’re no point of executing him, taking 1 humans life doesn’t bring back another 1. Also, he’s super young. He has a whole life to redeem himself.
@Gidina S I'm not talking about innocent people who are wrongly accused. I'm talking about real murderers here. The justice system is twisted so there's no such thing as "innocent until proven guilty" in real life, so nothing can be done about that. Worse punishment for you is for them to pass the rest of their life in jail? Jail is basically a free home, free food, a life without worry for some people. And that's not nearly enough punishment. And there's no such thing as lifetime in prison. There is always a way to get them out if enough effort and money is put into it.
@Gidina S "So how do you know they are innocent" I obviously don't know, and doesn't have the right to voice anything either. We are only human, not some divine being. As long as the officials up there are corrupted, there can never be any actual justice system. And making the inmates do something useful? Like what? Even if they work, they do it in the most sloppiest way possible, nothing good can come out by making use of murderers or rapers. And do you know the worse thing of all? The government needs to provide so much just to let these prisoners live carefree life in their cell. Just the food provided to them strains the government a lot. Rather than wasting money and feeding obvious criminals. Just killing them is the most logical approach.
Nyahahaha so the true and real problem is corruption. How do we tackle that? Is that due to the economic system we live by (capitalism)? Or is it an intrinsic value of human nature to be greedy and corrupt once in power? I’d say the latter because even in countries that tried socialism like Russia, corruption was there; in the US corruption is just legalized; as an example take lobbying by corporations
Well he will have a lot of years living in prison while he waits for his time to come. Hearing about the whole process of death row is chilling but idk I think a life sentence is worse - because as you grow old/weak in there you realize how you wasted the only life given to you and then you die.
so let me get this straight. a guy walks into a theatre and kills people at random just to kill and gets 3000 yra in prison. but this kid kills someone in a robbery and he is put to death.
Jeff hoskinson We have 50 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, etc so your going to get different verdicts for crimes since laws vary by States. This wasn't a Federal case.
If someone killed my mom or dad while they were trying to rob or rape someone, I would 1) consider that person my best friend, 2) give them a medal 3) Write a book about them 4) desecrate the dead body and put it on a pike on the front lawn.

And you were sent to shoot people to start the hate on Whites even more dividing the masses even more to fight and hate each other more attempts to take our guns away. (read edit) edit: after getting lots of replies i know that this comment has very little facts in it and i’m sorry. ik people should not comment things like that before doing research. i’m very against death penalty and think they should abolish it. i know that death penalty rules are different in every state. But no state should have it for many reasons. 4% of people on death penalty were innocent. and you may say, “ok so only kill really bad murders” it’s not that simple. there are always gonna be innocent people with the system. it is also not fair at all. if you are rich and guilty you probably are better off then someone innocent and poor. rich people have access to good lawyers . poor people can get stuck with lawyers that are not fighting for them. just because you’re poor does not mean you’re guilty. Earlier this year i read A book called just Mercy and it was a true story about a black man named walter who is wrongfully accused of murdering a woman. The person who accused and made up entire fake story. Walter was on death row for six years. He did innocent. this is not the first time this has happened. there are many cases similar to it. and for all the bad people who commit awful crimes that deserve to die. Life sentence is not very fun. they can get life without parole so they cannot get out of jail ever. there are many other reasons I could list but then this would be way to long. so please stop saying i’m dumb:) abolish death penalty!
A few details not shown in the video: - The killer and the victim were friends until the eighth grade. - The killer who planned the killing was sentenced to death. His partner-in-crime did the actual stabbing, but got life imprisonment. - Austin Myers is still on death row as of 2022. He has made several appeals which have delayed the sentence. He is currently 26, and will not be the youngest person executed in US history. That record belongs to 12-year-old Hannah Ocuish who was executed in the 18th century for killing a 6-year-old girl in Connecticut.

I met him in the courtroom. I was told there was nothing left. No reason, no conscience, no understanding; even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong. I spent hours in the courtroom trying to reach him, and then more hours trying to put him on death row because I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply... *evil*.
He was sentenced to death because the victim was stabbed 21 times, and choked to death with a metal wire. This was all planned a day prior, the pair even bought ammonia and rubber gloves to try and clean the crime scene after the murder. They planned the murder, planned to steal a safe of money with a couple of guns. And make it look like Justin had stole the items and left town. I don’t agree with the death penalty, but Austin showed no remorse during the trial, and committed a horrific murder with his friend, these are the type of things a serial killer would do. Edit: They also shot his corpse twice with one of the stolen guns. Also they even dumped the safe which contained no money and just papers and loose change. In my opinion I don’t think he should be relieved from living with himself by being killed.

There’s so much I want to say but, I now think the worst punishment for someone is life in prison. The only exceptions are mass murders from people who don’t have remorse or war crimes (which are usually also mass murders)
When I say life in prison, I MEAN LIFE IN PRISON.
@Gidina S "So how do you know they are innocent"
I obviously don't know, and doesn't have the right to voice anything either.
I would care. A lot of people would still care. I’ve seen that Castro guy kidnapped people and people cared. Golden Gate killer, people still cared.

He broke terms and conditions so God sent a reinforcement manager in order to end his trial....

so let me get this straight. a guy walks into a theatre and kills people at random just to kill and gets 3000 yra in prison. but this kid kills someone in a robbery and he is put to death.

We have 50 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, etc so your going to get different verdicts for crimes since laws vary by States. This wasn't a Federal case.
um yea... death is better than life in prison
We have a judge epidemic that needs to be dealt with. It is just as bad as the cop epidemic.
If someone killed my mom or dad while they were trying to rob or rape someone, I would 1) consider that person my best friend, 2) give them a medal 3) Write a book about them 4) desecrate the dead body and put it on a pike on the front lawn.

Robbery and murder ? Shouldnt be allowed to talk to the judge, even at 19 years old, should be the death sentence, that’s fair in my eyes
This dude killed one person and got put on death row, public shooters kill multiple people and are given a slap on the wrist and are treated like they're special or something.
So do you want to form some kind of association to protect one-person-killers from this kind of discrimination?
He or they Must have done something Really Over the Top in killing the dude, to get that sentence.
Different states have different standards.
”Brain.exe has stopped working” what if someone is trying to kill you so you kill them first? In your words they deserve death no matter what
So the fuck what? It's really not that big of a deal. Justice has never been consistent in the history of its conception.

Translated as " i do as i please so just let me go"
I know the situation isn't funny, but I audibly laughed when I heard that
I like that plea agreement.
why do you use The Lords Sacred Name for your public marketing ploy?
you already know The Lords warning from ancient times : "No person who shall misuse the name of the Lord Almighty shall go unpunished.. " , there is only one Name in Heaven, on earth or below it whereby all power was given, whereby every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is The Lord forever. it is a dangerous thing to blaspheme such a great King whom will soon destroy all other kingdoms and the governments of this earth under His feet with an iron rod
Now don't wait 19 more years to carry out the sentence
Killer: I can do a lot of good things in my life if you want me to keep my life.
Yeah I’m sure your victim had a lot of good things he could have gone in his life if you let him keep his life
Bingo
Yep.
Hes still a kid. His brain was not fully cooked.
The court system wants to play God. Taking his own life will not bring back the young man he killed. All it does is cause other family to grieve. He has a family as well.
And by killing him, what has he learned? Punishment is supposed to teach a lesson. Hes dead, there is no lesson to be learned.
I beat the deceased also pleaded for his life before he was killed
@@lynncantrell2782 He’ll be dead and no longer a menace to society. The guy he murdered was a friend of his. Why do you bleeding hearts place more importance on the perpetrators than victims?
Once you show that you display antisocial behaviors and are a threat to other people in society who are just living their lives as they have a right to do, you should be removed from society. In this case, it so happened that he deserved the death penalty for his actions.
People always forget the victim who died.

In the old british executions the record for executioner entering the room and the trap door opening underneath the prisoner was 8 seconds.
true, but if he had switched the language to korean he probably couldve saved another 1.3 seconds

Just don't let your child get involved in stuff that seems cool but isn't
don't try hard to make him a good person ..just let him make mistakes and learn from them ..he will be fine
Good luck brother
I think you really should. There was this one quote I remembered from a book that I've read: "I wonder if it's cold fathers who make the sensitive sons". If you dont have the capacity to become a responsible parent, then dont produce a child, because kids who dont have the proper guidance and an unhealthy mentality could potentially grew up as school shooters or murderers.
Good luck in your parenthood 🍀

First of all the courts show no emotion to anyone. If you sentenced me to death I wouldn't be emotional either. The legal system sucks out any human emotion other than anger and despair.

The United states system is so unbelievably inconsistent, we need reform, real change. The way we police and handle the prison system is completely broken and corrupt
It’s not the United States as a country’s system the state are the ones in charge of the system but yeah every state needs to reform their prison
Yeah, a lot of things need to reform.
Check the Brazilian system, things are sad over here
@@mariaH-xu1xc that's Brazil though, if we are the true super power we claim to be, why tf cant we keep our own citizens safe from the people who are supposed to protect us, instead we minorities have to live in fear of power hungry tyrants who can murder us at any second knowing nothing will happen to them, dont get me wrong, I can see how privileged we are as a nation, however, we are far from perfect and you cant deny the fact that we need reform no only in our justice system, but the whole country, the way our current president is handling the virus and the injustice is not only horrible, but dangerous and is putting the whole human race in danger, I wish I were exaggerating when I say that, but someone with such poor judgement should not be in possession of the 2nd biggest nuclear arsenal in the world
@@michaele7636 yeah, the point being, we need some type of over all change because our current way of carrying out justice just seems like a game with the defendants life being the prize, its extremely twisted how a judge can just give out life and death sentences like they have the right to determine a person's mindstate. I mean, why is it that with a good lawyer, your chances of receiving an unfavorable punishment is drastically reduced? Our states need reform!
100% correct decision.
