    Let’s be honest, if this guy was 30 years old, no one would care
    Edit: I am sorry if I offended anyone, I know this is a sensitive topic, and the reply’s have really changed my mind on this subject.
    There’s so much I want to say but, I now think the worst punishment for someone is life in prison. The only exceptions are mass murders from people who don’t have remorse or war crimes (which are usually also mass murders)
    When I say life in prison, I MEAN LIFE IN PRISON. A good judge should never take a bribe.
    What if they are found innocent during their sentence? Release them, I know it sounds shallow. But, what if someone executed is found innocent? Then, that would be worse because you technically killed someone innocent.
    If someone dies in the middle of custody due to natural circumstances, it’s less guilt.
    About the boy himself, he should spend a few years in prison. They’re no point of executing him, taking 1 humans life doesn’t bring back another 1.
    Also, he’s super young. He has a whole life to redeem himself.

      @malsawmzela609 4 роки тому +175

      @Gidina S I'm not talking about innocent people who are wrongly accused. I'm talking about real murderers here. The justice system is twisted so there's no such thing as "innocent until proven guilty" in real life, so nothing can be done about that.
      Worse punishment for you is for them to pass the rest of their life in jail? Jail is basically a free home, free food, a life without worry for some people. And that's not nearly enough punishment.
      And there's no such thing as lifetime in prison. There is always a way to get them out if enough effort and money is put into it.

    • @malsawmzela609
      @malsawmzela609 4 роки тому +36

      @Gidina S "So how do you know they are innocent"
      I obviously don't know, and doesn't have the right to voice anything either. We are only human, not some divine being. As long as the officials up there are corrupted, there can never be any actual justice system.
      And making the inmates do something useful? Like what? Even if they work, they do it in the most sloppiest way possible, nothing good can come out by making use of murderers or rapers.
      And do you know the worse thing of all? The government needs to provide so much just to let these prisoners live carefree life in their cell. Just the food provided to them strains the government a lot.
      Rather than wasting money and feeding obvious criminals. Just killing them is the most logical approach.

    • @paul5324
      @paul5324 4 роки тому +7

      Nyahahaha so the true and real problem is corruption. How do we tackle that? Is that due to the economic system we live by (capitalism)? Or is it an intrinsic value of human nature to be greedy and corrupt once in power? I’d say the latter because even in countries that tried socialism like Russia, corruption was there; in the US corruption is just legalized; as an example take lobbying by corporations

    I’m sorry but he murdered one guy and is getting the death penalty. But school shooters are getting life sentence.
    (read edit)
    edit: after getting lots of replies i know that this comment has very little facts in it and i’m sorry. ik people should not comment things like that before doing research. i’m very against death penalty and think they should abolish it. i know that death penalty rules are different in every state. But no state should have it for many reasons.
    4% of people on death penalty were innocent. and you may say, “ok so only kill really bad murders” it’s not that simple. there are always gonna be innocent people with the system.
    it is also not fair at all. if you are rich and guilty you probably are better off then someone innocent and poor. rich people have access to good lawyers . poor people can get stuck with lawyers that are not fighting for them. just because you’re poor does not mean you’re guilty.
    Earlier this year i read A book called just Mercy and it was a true story about a black man named walter who is wrongfully accused of murdering a woman. The person who accused and made up entire fake story. Walter was on death row for six years. He did innocent. this is not the first time this has happened. there are many cases similar to it. and for all the bad people who commit awful crimes that deserve to die. Life sentence is not very fun. they can get life without parole so they cannot get out of jail ever.
    there are many other reasons I could list but then this would be way to long. so please stop saying i’m dumb:) abolish death penalty!

    A few details not shown in the video:
    - The killer and the victim were friends until the eighth grade.
    - The killer who planned the killing was sentenced to death. His partner-in-crime did the actual stabbing, but got life imprisonment.
    - Austin Myers is still on death row as of 2022. He has made several appeals which have delayed the sentence. He is currently 26, and will not be the youngest person executed in US history. That record belongs to 12-year-old Hannah Ocuish who was executed in the 18th century for killing a 6-year-old girl in Connecticut.

      I met him in the courtroom. I was told there was nothing left. No reason, no conscience, no understanding; even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong. I met this eighteen-year-old teenager, with this blank, pale, emotionless face and, the blackest eyes... the *devil's* eyes. I spent hours in the courtroom trying to reach him, and then more hours trying to put him on death row because I realized what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply... *evil*.

    He was sentenced to death because the victim was stabbed 21 times, and choked to death with a metal wire. This was all planned a day prior, the pair even bought ammonia and rubber gloves to try and clean the crime scene after the murder. They planned the murder, planned to steal a safe of money with a couple of guns. And make it look like Justin had stole the items and left town. I don’t agree with the death penalty, but Austin showed no remorse during the trial, and committed a horrific murder with his friend, these are the type of things a serial killer would do.
    Edit: They also shot his corpse twice with one of the stolen guns. Also they even dumped the safe which contained no money and just papers and loose change. In my opinion I don’t think he should be relieved from living with himself by being killed.

    A life for a life, should be the law. As a murderer one should find the courage to even want to end one’s life. Having killed another person and wanting to live ? The victim probably just wanted to live his life but cant anymore.
    Let this be an example to all who would be tempted to take the life of someone else, let them fear what is the outcome for their lives : that they be put to death, and soon enough there wont be such things committed again.
