We couldn't be more excited about our new mayor!!! Our family has worked hard for the past few months to help with his campaign in so many ways. It has been amazing to watch our girls (13, 11, 9) learn about activism as they canvassed and went to rallies. We firmly believe Brandon is the man to lead Chicago into a new time of addressing education, mental health care, systemic crime, joblessness, homelessness. We can't wait to see him get Treatment not Trauma up and running (we have been working on this for so long in the city). He is a genuine and caring man, who wants the best for ALL Chicagoans, and I am excited for the future of our city!
Come back on 6 months after he defunds the police and the criminals run your block.
@@PD-we8vf his plan is not to defund police but to reallocate funds to help police work more effectively. In fact there are 200 vacancies that he plans to fill as detectives so that crimes actually get investigated and solved. He plans to have police do their jobs and not be doing mental health and wellness checks, which should be for the actual mental health professionals.

Yay!!! I am from West Virginia but glad he won.
Honestly, the fact that he got elected is something to be celebrated, especially since it seems to spit in the face of the idea of the US being a plutocracy. But still, I can't seem to shake my doubts. I mean no offence, but I do find it odd that he actually got elected. I have doubts that those in power would actually allow someone of the working class to be in power, unless they somehow benefit from it. Though I could be very wrong, it could very well be that the popular vote was simply too big to ignore, despite interference from outside forces. But still, I'm not sure how to feel about all of this, but I truly am hoping for the best. Perhaps this person will do what no politician has ever done before, perhaps he will stay true to his morals and his goals, despite the profit driving the other direction. And I hope that will happen, for those who elected him, and those he will hopefully serve dutifully. We the working class hold up this nation, all nations, on our backs, and it's about time someone stood up for our struggles.

Congratulations Brandon Johnson. I was honestly worried about this one. I am sad to see Mrs. Lightfoot go (go ahead judge me she did a decent job in the pandemic) but I would have been even more sad if a guy who wanted the privatize the already constantly striking public school system won (Vallas). I even refrained from supporting Chuy García a fellow Hispanic (RIP Rosa García for those you you who don't know she died Monday night) when the Union my mother and my public school staff friends' are on as well as Bernie Sanders endorsed him.
