    Dogumentary TV has teamed up with Oscar Mora of Elevated Canine Academy to bring you Dog Training Fundamentals. This series is an introduction series into dog training and basic obediene. In lesson six, Oscar goes over the technique of getting your dog to work through the three Ds.The three Ds are DISTRACTION, DISTANCE, and DURATION. Training a dog can seem relatively easy until you're inevitably met with one or all of the three Ds.

    Zeke kudos to you for not trying to bulk Roscoe up too much. He looks great and well proportioned. Most of all he looks healthy. A lot of people seem to be into these thick, borderline obese dogs. When I see that it just makes me think of health issues for the dog and high vet bills for the owner.
    I love Rotties. I want to get one for my family. However, I've never owned a dog. But my wife did grow up with a German Shepherd. I do wonder if I am ready for the challenge of a Rottweiler. Your videos make me want to take that leap.

    @Emma-iu3fs 4 роки тому +4

    Amazing work. I'm a bit confused by the leash pulling though. Isn't it good to teach the dog to go with the leash?

    • @OscarMorak9s
      @OscarMorak9s 4 роки тому +2

      Emma good point! You can teach the dog to resist as well as yield to the leash. Used in different situations. In this episode we want the dog to stay on the place and using the leash to solidify that a little more.

    • @OscarMorak9s
      @OscarMorak9s 4 роки тому +2

      Emma hope that makes sense. If it doesn’t I can try to better explain.

      Thank you! :)

    • @corymarinan2996
      @corymarinan2996 2 роки тому

      I agree with Emma. There are plenty of better ways to tempt the dog to break the place command so that you can reinforce it, ones where you don't have to contradict training the dog to respond to leash pressure. So many dog owners struggle to get their dogs to follow the leash. Why undermine that training???

    Why don't you utilize "stay" as a marker?

    • @williammoutis2447
      @williammoutis2447 2 роки тому +1

      I think that’s what wait is for him

    • @Lucy-dp1dy
      @Lucy-dp1dy 2 роки тому +4

      because it's unnecessary command.. when you tell dog to sit it shouldn't get up until you release the dog with command.. if i use comand sit i don't want dog to stand up or run away until i say.. so using two commands sit and stay is useless and pointless because dog already knows it should stay in position

  • @barronsamson1435
    @barronsamson1435 4 роки тому +2

    I see how using leash pressure reinforces the command. How do you recommend useing leash pressure to teach a dog to walk on a loose leash?

    • @dropdead3004
      @dropdead3004 4 роки тому +1

      From what I have seen in another video, you dont really want tension on the leash but you want to shorten your grip on it. Your gonna have a shorter grip on it with no tension, this will keep the dog at your side to insure that your walking them and that they aren't walking you. Eventually with time the dog will learn to walk alongside with you without you having hold the leash with a short grip. Hope this helps in some way. :)

    So I’m watching hoping to train my dog as well but I’m waiting to see it done without the place cause I don’t think I’ll have one so it’ll be hard for him to know exactly where I want him

    • @marybowman4847
      @marybowman4847 3 роки тому +2

      You can use anything for a "place". It just helps them to get it faster if it's elevated. (Like a cot or elevated mattress/bed) but it doesn't have to be elevated. Place could just be a folded up blanket, a towel, crate pan, even a upside-down bucket/bowl or frisbee as a "touch pad"/"place". Using a smaller round place rather than a bed type place can be beneficial for future training like pivoting around in place etc.

    • @TrusTz01
      @TrusTz01 4 роки тому +5

      train everyday, before feeding, don't take too long, i think it depends on the dog, if they like it then continue, but if they are bored then stop. i usually train only about 5-10 minutes, but everyday. so repetition is the key so the dog remembers.
