The amount of information you give I would normally have to pay hundreds of dollars to receive. You are an excellent teacher and dog trainer! No if's and's or butt's
Love to see the stories about dogs. In my experience, most dogs are by far more intelligent and more worthy creatures than most people. I never had a dog, until my daughter decided to get one when she started medical school. But soon, she figured it was not easy to take care of the dog while in medical school. So, I ended up with a most beautiful White German Shepherd called Bellissima. (There are pictures of her on my Channel). With the first light of the day, I could hear her shaking herself, and waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs to celebrate the arrival of the new day. Just seeing her expressive eyes, and her long ears moving side to side, warms my heart. She is not only beautiful, but also very intelligent. She knows when I put down my reading glasses and pick up my regular eye glasses, it is time for a walk.
I can't believe how, Not only do you provide excellent training videos for free on UA-cam, but, you also answer most of your viewers comments and questions. That's is impressive since you have over 500 on this video! Very "Class A" professional, and generous of you. Your training videos are EXCELLENT and fun to watch.
Just got my first German shepherd puppy, 10 weeks old and her name is Luna, I had her 4 days and she already does her business on the leash outside. She loves to chew and is very spunky. I can't believe how beautiful and loving she is, I am so very blessed.
What is your suggestion for food? I am trying blue Buffalo to start but,I get different suggestions from different people even my vet. I can't find Eukanuba anywhere, I was considering Purina pro plan ,I am not using anything with corn at all . Everything seems to be chicken for protein
He presents training in 7 days. Each of 7 items are commands that he believes a dog should know. They are presented in part ii of the book ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq . The parts of the guideare divided: part i know your dog part ii the seven commands part iii cures for 7 behavior problems. Each chapter presents a topic, a dog's story, and a "what to do". It was written simply and you can jump from chapter to chapter to review anything as needed.
I respect the fact that Nate could very easily sell this important information on, but because of his love for dogs; we get it for free so that we too can love and enjoy our dogs as much as he does. It's not about the money, it's about the love! Respect from Ireland ☘✌
I am a senior and I have obedience trained the dogs I have shared my life with. I found you recently on this channel and I am so impressed with your training methods. I am getting a Cane Corso next week and look forward to using your tips when training her. I love how you make it fun for the dog. I also appreciate how you make your videos compact and to the point without any long drawn out unnecessary rhetoric. In my opinion you are the best dog trainer and instructor I have seen to date. Thank you.
Thank you so much, Chris! I really appreciate it. Don't hesitate to post any questions that you may have when you start training your Cane Corso! Cheers!
I work in wildlife conservation in Africa. It breaks my heart how poorly dogs are treated in our area (basically people think the only way to get a dog to do anything or be "tough" for personal protection or hunting/poaching is through beating them). I have been training my Belgium Malinois, Honey Bun through your videos and he is doing great! In Feb 2022 I will be using him as a demonstration for sensitisations to teach 1,700 families about conservation and animal welfare and show that you can treat a dog with gentleness and kindness and they can actually be very well disciplined, confident AND an excellent personal protection dog, much more so in fact than if you beat him. Thank you for helping me to get him to the level where he is today!!!
One of the rare few trainings videos of an American Trainer that gets a Like from me. Exactly this is the way I have educated all my Wolfdogs and German Shepherd Dogs.
All you guys are great. I’m sitting here reading the comments, smiling. I’m taking my 16 yo grandson to pick up his 8 week old GS puppy tomorrow. I will help (guide) him train his puppy, as I’ve trained my GS and other dogs. I came across this video, and it resonated with me, so I’ve subscribed and sent the link to my grandson. Bravo for all!!!
I am such a bad dog owner, but am using most of the things i'm learning on these videos. My girl was a hoarders dog. 7 months old and the runt, they told me the other animals all bullied her. she was never abused, but she was very rarely handled or played with by humans, they merely fed her the rest of the time i think she was hiding from the other dogs. zero reaction when i wave my hand in her face, she's very happy with the attention now, but it took a few days to get even a little reaction to our attentiion. She wagged her tail first time on the fourth day when i was trying out names, the one she liked that tail just wagged. I think she's brilliant. she is learning so fast. thankyou for your videos, but she will sleep with me and live most of her life on my lap or at my feet or on a leash outside.
Training a dog and teaching it to be a perfect companion is a lifelong achievement for both the the trainer and the dog. There are so many things you can learn from the dog, one of the most important being learning to stay disciplined yourself. Everyone should train a dog if they want to be a better version of themselves. That's why I want to have a pet dog.
the level of devotion and the bond with your dog, directly reflects the consistency of training and handling on your behalf.. dogs love training..! its a form of communication for them..! they know what you want and they can do it for you..
DUDE! I've watched so many trainers! This is it, this is the stuff, you see the results I'm looking for! Really cool that you're showing how tight you are with your dogs and how obedient they are rather than showcasing random different dogs every episode. I only have one good boy that I want to train really well for life - thank you for your commitment to quality not quantity!
I've seen so many videos on puppy training for my new puppy in the last couple of days and this is by FAR the best most informative video I have come across. Information was so easy to receive without it being "overwhelming"
Absolutely amazing training and it works! We used Nate’s advice from the get go with our 9 week old puppy. She goes into her night crate and happy, no crying at all. She loves the car and the bottles in the kids pool works too. I’ve so enjoyed training Olive. Thanks Nate you’ve made this process much easier for us.
You are by far the easiest trainer to listen to. No yelling no drama.every word is correct I'm 88 years have had alsations g.s.d. all my life.well done thank you.
This was really helpful because one of the things that I’ve always struggled with when training dogs is teaching them to have confidence but still having them know they’re not in charge
Thank you for your uploads! You easily have the MOST honest dog training videos, no fillers, just pure tips and principles. And I love how patient you are with your videos as well! I love how you repeat the explanations and principles within the techniques in each videos even tho some are repetitive. I feel like I’m being conditioned well in each video I watch no matter which one. Thanks Nate! Keep it real and stay healthy!
@@NateSchoemer Sounds great! I have been following your channel for some time, still longing and waiting for my puppy 🤗. I appreciate greatly your channel and believe it is an excellent preparation for me 🧡!! (Although I live in Sweden so not all things are applicable here since crating a dog, except in a car, is illegal here.) One question, what do the puppy do when you are not training (i e. most of the day🙂)? Do you have a video on that? Thanks again for all your excellent tips and advice!!
I just got my 8 week old GSD 4 days ago. He’s gonna be my SD as well. This video and a lot of his videos will help. I’ve found that patience is the biggest thing. For example: If it takes you 32 tries to get the leash on without him biting you then so be it. Now at 3am you gotta just pick him up and run him outside even if you have no shoes on lol . Good luck with your new pup!
Awesome! If you haven't done so already, you should join my facebook group. We have a lot of good trainers in the group and it's a great source for dog training. :) facebook.com/groups/NateSchoemers
Nate, I’m so relieved to find your UA-cam channel! I found this video of yours - “Everything You Need to Know When Training Your Puppy” - while searching for puppy/dog training videos intended to teach the WATCHERS of the videos how to train their puppies/dogs, videos that would be fun to watch, highly informational, and that would NOT be an aggravating waste of my time spent watching the instructor/trainer attempt to bait (aka “manipulate”) the watchers into going to the instructor’s website in hopes that the INSTRUCTOR would be hired to train the puppies/dogs. I appreciate not only your detailed training instructions, but also (sometimes even MORE so) all of your explanations of WHY to train our puppies/dogs using the methods you describe. Also, I HIGHLY value that you present your information to your watchers with delightful flavors of RESPECT, ENERGY, and GENUINE ENGAGEMENT! So, thank you! My friend, Bonnie, and I (and hopefully my adult children, who also have dogs) will be be watching your videos and employing your methods to train our puppies and dogs. Bonnie has 2 German shepherd brothers who are massive, with massive paws, and are STILL PUPPIES. They have spent most of their life with few physical boundaries, having lots of land to run around on and play. Then a couple months ago, they moved nextdoor to me and now need to be tethered when they are outside because the yard isn’t fenced in. Even though their leads are long, I’m sure they still feel pretty confined, compared to before. They have always been very protective of Bonnie, and vice versa. They’ve gotten used to me being around Bonnie while we’re outside. She gave me some treats to give them so they would be happy to see me and no view me as a threat to either them or Bonnie. We are great friends now, but they still like to jump up. With my balance not being the best anyway right now, I can’t afford to be close enough to them that they could knock me down. And it wouldn’t be hard for them to do just that! I have to either have Bonnie right there with us, or I have to interact with them with several feet between us. You may cover this type of situation in your videos, but until I can find and watch those particular videos, would you please either let me know which videos to watch or do you have specific recommendations for us that you could share with us right way, maybe via reply to this comment, or email (or even Zoom, FaceTime, or a phone call)? Thank you in advance for all that you do! I look forward to learning all that you teach on training puppies and dogs! Do you also teach how to train kittens and cats, too? :)
Thanks! Since the behavior is dangerous, then I would use a correction to stop it. If you don't want to correct right away, you can start with leash pressure. Check out these videos: ua-cam.com/video/bPkW3SWblfM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/QSxy_EIYyoQ/v-deo.html
This was super helpful to rewatch. Having watched so many of your videos, I “lost” some important points that I now know I need to go back to so Jedi and I can be as successful as possible. I wasn’t free shaping. I can see now how important this will be to his overall development. He is very in tune to me while I am feeding him his meal while training but take him outside and it’s like he hasn’t learned anything. So glad I rewatched this!
WOW!!! I’m getting a puppy in a couple of days. It’s been a long time since I’ve trained one. My last dog was better behave that most kids. This is an amazing gift you have. Thank you for sharing this!
My husband and I got us a Rottweiler puppy 4 days ago and she is 2 months and a week old. She is feisty and not afraid. I came across this video today and I must say everything you say I so AGREE! This is the best video so far I have watch. I am so going to take your video and put it into practice with our puppy. So getting my husband to watch this. Thanks for sharing.
Just finished your full obedience playlist the content is amazing, im picking up my gsd puppy in 4 weeks and feel so much better prepared for training after getting through the videos. I have also been enjoying the fb group community content thanks alot.
I hope this video gets the views it deserves! This is such a great summary of everything you need to do without having to watch 10-20min videos on every single behavior. Send it to my friends that just got a puppy straight away!
Definitley earned a sub from me!! Amazing info, straight to the point, easy to understand, and factual. What more could we ask for! Not only are you showing us HOW to train our puppies, but you’re also explaining to us the puppies thoughts/mindset throughout the process! Thank you and keep up the great work!!
This video is blowing my mind. (Still watching and barely at the 6minute mark) Thank goodness i found this. Ive had a puppy for about a week now and theres so much ive been doing wrong. Im also being educated on things i thought i couldnt do like leaving my doggies crate next to my bed. They need security at such a young age (6-7 week old). Here I thought, like u said, they were trying to manipulate me to be let free. I will get to the basic trainings i have seen right away. Thank you, God send foreal!
well that is really very good . trained obedience for a long time . your the first trainer that has it right. and i am over 80 yrs old now. Well done!!!
Totally love this! I trained my dog in a similar manner but rarely used treats and now he’s excellent everywhere we go. He aims to please and made it easier to train him and have him always obey commands even in new/scary/busy situations. Agree with the whole no need for the “alpha” technique but I think it’s important to establish yourself as in charge of a situation so when the dog gets nervous they defer to you and understand it’s okay and so if they potentially are in a dangerous situation they will immediately obey commands to stay safe. Love my pup and he’s the best thing ever, thanks for sharing.
Thank you! You are very good and positive, that’s great! Just got Rhodesian Ridgeback 8 weeks old, and all I can say, that is very helpful. I could see a lot of things I’m doing right and also my mistakes, I really appreciate you take your time to do those videos. 🙏🏽🤙🏽
im 16 years old and getting a german sheppard in about a week. ur videos are getting me super pumped to give this puppy a great life. definitely deserved a sub!
this was very helpful on dealing with my own seperation anxiety, loud noise ptsd and with behaving around other people walking about the city...lol jp but seriously dogs and humans so alike.
My partner and I and due for a Rottweiler Pup in 5 weeks, and we're looking to train him ourselves. These videos help a tonne man, appreciate you taking the time and and making this video. Liked & Subbed!
Thanks, I really appreciate that and I'm happy the videos are helpful. I'm sure you and your partner are going to do a fantastic job with your new puppy! :)
Well we've already blown this one. There isn't any separation anxiety, but we didn't start using a kong stuffed toy to start with. I think, otherwise, we're in the right direction. We have a crate next to the bed, she started sleeping thru the night, after the third night. She's now been home two weeks, and is sleeping about 7 hours a night. She's in a play pen during the day, or outside with us and our other dogs. Still binge watching!
Love this!❤️ I really like the way you inserted video clips to coincide with what you were verbally describing. I can’t tell you how many times I wished other UA-cam publishing dog trainers would do the same, “show me what you’re talking about”, I would think to myself. Astonishing how many amazing points you managed to include in such a short video, thank you very much.
For anyone reading this: I know that dog training can be difficult sometimes, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work, and your dog (and your own sanity) will thank you for it! ❤️💕
It’s so frustrating when people have made comments about crate training being negative. Crates are SO important. We’re getting a new puppy in October. I built a nightstand crate. My older dogs(who no longer use crates) started using it randomly! I build a matching one for my husband’s side of the bed. Came in handy the other night for our rescue who is fearful of storms. She went in and didn’t even flinch during the all night long storm 😁 it’s been so long since I’ve raised a puppy, so I’m watching your videos regularly. Thanks!
This is great, I've been seriously considering getting myself a puppy at some point and I've grown up with many different breeds in the family so this is really helpful
So many helpful tips!! My brother just got a German Shepherd and Rottweiler mix and he’s only 5 months old and already huge! I will definitely be sending him this video for tips!
Is it okay for my 4 month old geman shepherd to come to bed with me? I just got her and she had been in a cage for about a month and is super loving but hyper.
Great video Nate I have a 9 week old Rottweiler and your videos have saved me so much time, money and frustration so thank you very much for the priceless information.
I'm so happy I came across your channel! I'm in the process of getting my gsp and this has been so helpful for when we begin to train. THANK YOU! AMAZING VIDEO!
This is indeed packed with precious information 👍 I especially loved the low value reward idea and the free shaping concept both of which I hadn't heard anywhere else. Thanks so much for sharing. New subscriber here and I'll be watching your videos every day 🥰 Getting a 4 months old (unfortunately completely untrained) whippet next week and a bit nervous but very impatient 😋 Take care 🌻
My GS was 13 last year when he passed away. We have a new GS pup coming Friday from the same breeder. It's been a long time since we went through the puppy phase. Your videos have been a blessing. I think we are ready again thanks to your awesome videos. ✌
This helps a lot!!! I have 2 adult German shepherds and my female is having puppies and I’m going to keep one and I actually forgot how to take care of a puppy since I haven’t had one since they were puppies 🤣 so thank you!
Hey Nate, Great video once again. I have a short question, and I remember you saying you feed your dogs a raw diet. Can you explain more about how you use kibble in training? Or do you start off with kibble and switch to raw at some point? I guess meal time with a raw diet is very high reward and so what would you use for treats/training in that situation. Hope to hear from you and keep it up, on the way to being the GOAT! :)
Thanks and great question! I'll be discussing this in my Q&A video tomorrow. Just check the description for where your question is located in the video. :)
I’ve only had 2 dogs and both were rescued around age 3. My husband and I just got our first puppy, two weeks ago he’s a small breed mix and is 10 weeks. This overview is so so helpful! Thank you! I plan to have our 2 teens watch this so they are on board with what we will be teaching him. I plan to watch more of your videos.
I was worried about leaving him in his kennel during times that I was just laying in bed but I was following my intuition when it comes to training. I didn’t want him to deal with separation anxiety and I could tell that he is. So when I can’t keep my eyes on him he’s in his kennel. When he whines I will stick my fingers on ti let him know I’m still here. But the food in the bone is my best takeaway from this video! He is 3 months old mix blue heeler/GSD/hound. It’s been 10 years since I’ve trained my service dog and I wanted to learn as much as I could from my puppy while teaching him all I know. Thank u for ur video it helped me in trusting myself while I crate train him❤
I've never use treats to train my dog. My dog obeys commands causeI said so & because he gets Xtra lovin. I only give him a treat after he/she "handled their business" during a walk.
You realize that extra loving is a reward. So you do reward him I have many dogs I have trained and usually a treat with love is a better combo. You have well rounded puppy who is eager to please their owner.
Thank you 🙏 for this well made video! Picking up my Dutch Shepherd today from the shelter....he’s 5-6 months old, possibly has been returned for behavioral issues....but i whole heartedly believe he’s 90 % amazing, and just need to work some kinks out! Wonder what your thoughts are on if it’s too late to get him on the right path or not? Obviously you haven’t met the guy, and what not but is 6 months still teachable?
Awesome! Yes, you can start training a dog at any age. I'm sure you'll do a great job with your Dutch Shepherd puppy. They are amazing and fun dogs to train!
This video has literally changed the way I’m thinking in training my new pup, just added a Czech shepherd to my family and I’m feeling much my confident in training her now, so happy I’ve watched this and I’ve subscribed. Matt, UK.
This guy is amazing. ❤ He's obviously very strong, but his demeanor is friendly and welcoming. I'll bet he could bench press a car if he wanted to. Seeing such a strong person, being so gentle, makes me happy. All is right with the world.
@@NateSchoemer yesss, I love her so much, even though I'm not much of an expert, I want to keep her in my life and I will give my best to give her the exercise that she needs. Got any tips to raise them as pets?
My bf came up with the brilliant idea of the "find it game" we ask our 5mo gsd pup to go in his crate for a piece of chicken. Then while watching we hide pieces of chicken around the house and make him wait for a few seconds before telling him to "okay, find it" and off he zooms. Now any time we get ready to ask him to train anything, he runs straight into his crate excited for his favorite game. It's made meal time, nap time, and leaving the house so much better. Admittedly I do leave through the back door most days so he's not aware that I'm leaving but if I can't, a nice handful of treats seem to keep him happy. He was very anxious 3 weeks ago but now he only whines a small amount only for a minute or two, mostly because he doesn't want to nap. Like a kid fighting sleep.
I just adopted a 3 month old Dutch Shepard from a shelter, he doesn't seem very interested in outside play, he is more interested in following me and sleeping. I make him chase me and play fetch though he never wants to get the item. He seems very distracted even when I have his favorite treats. This is my first ever puppy and it really is a super fun challenge to get him to be excited for learning.
If you are like a lot of people that would like to use toys in training, but you have a dog that doesn’t seem that motivated for toys, you can use a technique to try and increase your dog’s toy drive. Just keep in mind that not all dogs enjoy playing with toys-even if you do increase their toy drive. The first technique is to “clean house” if you have toys scattered all over the place. In this case it’s much like free feeding a dog. Why would a dog want to work for something they get for free? Your dog must know that the only way he will be able to play with a toy is if he works for it. However, once your dog is willing to work for the toys you can start allowing them to have toys for free during the day. The next technique to enhance toy drive is to build “frustration”. This is the process you’ll want to follow: • Attach a harness or an agitation collar to your dog. The point is just to make sure you can restrain the dog. You can also connect the leash to a pole or any other object to create a back-tie. • Have a friend begin twirling or teasing with a toy just beyond reach of the dog. Building more distance can often create more frustration, so build distance as needed. • Keep doing this until the dog becomes “frustrated” and barks. At this point, give verbal praise and reward the dog with the toy for barking (plus petting and attention, etc.). But make sure you or your friend holds on to the toy while the dog 41 plays with it. A flirt pole or ball-on-a-rope will work great for this. • If the dog releases the toy from the grip, run back and continue the teasing until the dog barks again. • Now it can become like a game: Try to steal the toy from the dog (if the dog lets go of it, don't rip it from the dog), and if successful, return to teasing, and once again reward if the dog barks. • For demonstrations, see my “Teach Your Dog to Bark On Command” video at: www.youtube.com/ HeVWMcwbf1w&t=21s. This helps build toy drive because much like humans, dogs want what they can't have. They also want what others want and have. This works best when you start during the imprinting stage of a dog’s life. However, it can work later in the dog’s life as well.
Nate, help me out brother! My 14 week GSD is amazing! Listens well, learns things very quickly. But the biting hurts so much now. He nips back if he doesn't like something and idk if its aggressive tendencies or he's over stimulated. Please help me out if you can. Thanks so much.
I would have to see a video, but I would be surprised if it was actual aggression. Send me an email and I'll send you some section from version 3 of my dog training manual. NateSchoemer@gmail.com :)
I don't believe so, because often when dogs are excited, they bark. So if your dog heard an intruder, your dog would start barking and hopefully scare the intruder away.
Awesome! I would suggest watching these two videos and going through my basic obedience dog training series. The series is designed to be watched in order, so be sure to start with episode one. I hope this helps, and thanks for supporting the channel. ua-cam.com/video/dY8ajyiZgIY/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/ERmJnSwGS4Q/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/cc8hX4lCGiY/v-deo.html
This was a great video! I have a question though. Sometimes I am going to leave my puppy for long periods of time at home and I don't want him holding it in for that long. Should he use puppy pads when I'm not at home and then go outside when I am home? Or should he just hold it?
Thanks Epic, I appreciate it! If it's a young puppy, then the best thing would be to have someone potty the puppy while you're at work. Once the puppy is a little older, then the puppy should be able to hold it while you're at work. I hope this helps. :)
Im getting a GSD puppy in a few weeks. This video is really helpful! I showed my husband the kiddy pool full of water bottles so he would understand why I've been collecting a closet full of"trash" the past few months 😂
I'm a 14 year old and I'm getting a german shepherd that I'm gonna train. Thank you for the help ❤️

Let’s fix that : no butts to sniff
Everyone who gets a new puppy should watch this video. This is one of the best puppy videos I've ever seen.
Thank you so much, Dawn!
Agree 100% but before they get the puppy....
Awesome! Thank you so much, I truly appreciate that! :)
Awesome. Thanks and congrats on your grandson getting a puppy. :)
Thanks for sharing and I'm happy the videos are helping. She's lucky to be with you. :)
I agree. Thanks for sharing!
the level of devotion and the bond with your dog, directly reflects the consistency of training and handling on your behalf.. dogs love training..! its a form of communication for them..! they know what you want and they can do it for you..
I have a 6 week German shepherd puppy and this is helping.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing and I'm happy the video is helpful. :)
I also just got a six week old german too! Goodluck!
@@kaintybest. breed. everrrr..
The way you broke down how to build their confidence was amazing along with not buying training pads. Great Video🔥🔥
Thank you, Jalik TheLeader! I really appreciate that! :)
Awesome! Thank you!
Idk if you know about dogs but what should I do if my dog does shows bad behavior, do I punish him for it?
I have an almost 4 month old German Shepard and she’s so focused when I want to train her. Glad I ran across this training
Just picked up my 10 week old GSD..thank you for doing this!!!!!!!!
I just adopted an 8 week old German Sheppard, which prompted me to look for these videos. Excellent info! Sub'd
Awesome! Thank you! And congrats on the new puppy! :)
@@NateSchoemer 👑 for the comments
I've seen so many videos on puppy training for my new puppy in the last couple of days and this is by FAR the best most informative video I have come across. Information was so easy to receive without it being "overwhelming"
Thanks! I really appreciate that. :)
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing and I'm so happy the videos have been helping! :)
Thank you man !
Thanks for watching! I happy you enjoyed it.
Thanks, Merce! :)
Thanks, I appreciate that! :) I have many more training videos still to come.
Nate Schoemer I will be looking forward to it! I won’t miss it with that notification button on 👌🏽
@@NateSchoemer Sounds great! I have been following your channel for some time, still longing and waiting for my puppy 🤗. I appreciate greatly your channel and believe it is an excellent preparation for me 🧡!! (Although I live in Sweden so not all things are applicable here since crating a dog, except in a car, is illegal here.)
One question, what do the puppy do when you are not training (i e. most of the day🙂)? Do you have a video on that?
Thanks again for all your excellent tips and advice!!
getting my pup on July 22, thank you so much for this video he's going to be a service dog and I need all the help that I can get!
Getting mine June 14th and he’s going to be a medical alert service dog too☺️
check this video out. Harley is adorable and Nate's stuff is awesome! ua-cam.com/video/dY8ajyiZgIY/v-deo.html
Tbh noes not a good time to get a puppy cuz of Covid u can’t socialise him well and be safe at the same time
Awesome! If you haven't done so already, you should join my facebook group. We have a lot of good trainers in the group and it's a great source for dog training. :) facebook.com/groups/NateSchoemers
This advice is massively helping align my puppy Malinois to myself and bringing harmony to the home. Thank you!
If you don't want to correct right away, you can start with leash pressure.

i adopted a shelter puppy and i am going to pick her up this saturday ,super excited . thank you for your vid
Thanks and best of luck with your new puppy. I'm sure you're going to have a blast! :)
Glad it was helpful! :)
I’m picking my Belgian Malinois puppy up in 4 weeks can’t wait and I feel so much better after watching this video thanks a lot 👍
Awesome! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel! :)
Jesus christ! Brilliant dog, no one's messing with you from now on.
WOW!!! I’m getting a puppy in a couple of days. It’s been a long time since I’ve trained one. My last dog was better behave that most kids. This is an amazing gift you have. Thank you for sharing this!
My pleasure. Thank you for the kind words and for supporting the channel. :)
Oh wow! Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words. Best of luck with your new Rottweiler puppy. :)
Just finished your full obedience playlist the content is amazing, im picking up my gsd puppy in 4 weeks and feel so much better prepared for training after getting through the videos. I have also been enjoying the fb group community content thanks alot.
Awesome! Thank you!
I hope this video gets the views it deserves! This is such a great summary of everything you need to do without having to watch 10-20min videos on every single behavior. Send it to my friends that just got a puppy straight away!
That's awesome! Thank you for sharing it with your friends. I hope it helps them out! :)
Wow! Thank you, Henry! I truly appreciate that! :)
Thank you, Isabelle! :)
Thank you! You are very good and positive, that’s great! Just got Rhodesian Ridgeback 8 weeks old, and all I can say, that is very helpful. I could see a lot of things I’m doing right and also my mistakes, I really appreciate you take your time to do those videos. 🙏🏽🤙🏽

Brilliant as always 👍🏻. The extra explanations for some of the training in your videos is really helpful.
Thanks! :)
I taught my German shepherd puppy to spin and she absolutely loves it !
That's awesome! My dog's love it too! :)
This is so much information in a short video; its criminal. Awesome job.
Thank you, I appreciate that and I'm happy the video is helpful. Cheers!
This guy is the shit and what all dog owners should be like. Thank you sir for respecting animals and helping people do the same.
this was very helpful on dealing with my own seperation anxiety, loud noise ptsd and with behaving around other people walking about the city...lol jp but seriously dogs and humans so alike.
Lol! For sure! :)
Same here!!! Expecting our Rottie puppy in 2 weeks. Good luck and have fun! 😍
Just make sure your his partner not ruler that can cause aggression in such independent dog
Love this!❤️
I really like the way you inserted video clips to coincide with what you were verbally describing.
I can’t tell you how many times I wished other UA-cam publishing dog trainers would do the same, “show me what you’re talking about”, I would think to myself.
Astonishing how many amazing points you managed to include in such a short video, thank you very much.
Thank you so much! And I agree, seeing the supporting video has always helped me as well, so I try to use that in my videos as much as possible. :)
I build a matching one for my
husband’s side of the bed. Came in handy the other night for our rescue who is fearful of storms. She went in and didn’t even flinch during the all night long storm 😁 it’s been so long since I’ve raised a puppy, so I’m watching your videos regularly. Thanks!
I couldn't agree more and thank you for supporting my channel. :)
this was the most helpful video about dogs i've ever seen, thank u man!
Wow! Thank you, I really appreciate that! :)
This is great, I've been seriously considering getting myself a puppy at some point and I've grown up with many different breeds in the family so this is really helpful
Thank you for sharing. I'm happy you like the video. :)
dude you are the bomb. number one dog trainer in my book. you give a lot of good information
Awesome! Thank you, I really appreciate your kind words! :)
I am just beginning to train my pup. Zero experience. Thank you. Superb info.
So many helpful tips!! My brother just got a German Shepherd and Rottweiler mix and he’s only 5 months old and already huge! I will definitely be sending him this video for tips!
Feeling more confident for when our puppy is ready to leave their home next month! I feel like I should be paying to watch this video!
Thanks! I'm happy it was helpful! :)
This video has made me more confident with my dog and he’s learning quickly thanks
Awesome! That's great!
Is it okay for my 4 month old geman shepherd to come to bed with me? I just got her and she had been in a cage for about a month and is super loving but hyper.
Best dog training I’ve seen on YT. Truly well done! 👍
Thank you so much!
Great video Nate
I have a 9 week old Rottweiler and your videos have saved me so much time, money and frustration so thank you very much for the priceless information.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing and I'm happy the videos have been helpful. Cheers!
Watched so far only maybe 5-6 videos, but so glad I found your channel. It's just awesome.
Awesome! Thanks, Sergey! I really appreciate that! :)
I'm so happy I came across your channel! I'm in the process of getting my gsp and this has been so helpful for when we begin to train. THANK YOU! AMAZING VIDEO!
Thanks, Sabrina! I appreciate that and I'm happy the videos are helpful. :)
First vid I've seen from you. You know what you're talking about and to the point. Subscribed.
Thank you, I really appreciate that! :)
Thanks, and I'm sure you'll do great with your new puppy. :)
Wow. The way you disseminate knowledge in one continuous flow. nice!
Thank you, I really appreciate that. :)
Lol! Thanks! :)
Great video, I only wish I’d seen it 4 months ago when I go my puppy. 🙃
Lol! It's never too late to start. :)
Awesome! Thank you. I'm happy the video is helpful. :)
Awesome!
"Xtra lovin" is a treat (reward) for an attention/affection motivated dog.
You realize that extra loving is a reward. So you do reward him I have many dogs I have trained and usually a treat with love is a better combo. You have well rounded puppy who is eager to please their owner.
Treat after business teaches him.to go out constantly for.just a treat
Getting a border collie on September 19 I’m so excited
Awesome! :)
This video has literally changed the way I’m thinking in training my new pup, just added a Czech shepherd to my family and I’m feeling much my confident in training her now, so happy I’ve watched this and I’ve subscribed. Matt, UK.
Thanks Matt! I'm happy the video helped and I appreciate you supporting my channel! :)
This guy is amazing. ❤ He's obviously very strong, but his demeanor is friendly and welcoming. I'll bet he could bench press a car if he wanted to. Seeing such a strong person, being so gentle, makes me happy. All is right with the world.
Just got myself a Belgian Malinois, really excited to train her, she already goes outside to go to the bathroom
Congrats! Malinois's are great dogs! :)
@@NateSchoemer yesss, I love her so much, even though I'm not much of an expert, I want to keep her in my life and I will give my best to give her the exercise that she needs. Got any tips to raise them as pets?
I wish I had known all this earlier. I am trying to implement these things with my 1 year old poodle. Great information!
Thanks! You can do it!
Awesome! Sounds like a fun game. Thank you for sharing. :)
This is free?? This!! This much information??!!! 😭❤️❤️❤️
Glad you’re enjoying the content. Thanks for watching and supporting my work!
If you are like a lot of people that would like to use toys in training,
but you have a dog that doesn’t seem that motivated for toys, you can
use a technique to try and increase your dog’s toy drive. Just keep in
mind that not all dogs enjoy playing with toys-even if you do
increase their toy drive.
The first technique is to “clean house” if you have toys scattered all
over the place. In this case it’s much like free feeding a dog. Why
would a dog want to work for something they get for free? Your dog
must know that the only way he will be able to play with a toy is if he
works for it. However, once your dog is willing to work for the toys
you can start allowing them to have toys for free during the day.
The next technique to enhance toy drive is to build “frustration”. This
is the process you’ll want to follow:
• Attach a harness or an agitation collar to your dog. The point
is just to make sure you can restrain the dog. You can also
connect the leash to a pole or any other object to create a
back-tie.
• Have a friend begin twirling or teasing with a toy just beyond
reach of the dog. Building more distance can often create
more frustration, so build distance as needed.
• Keep doing this until the dog becomes “frustrated” and barks.
At this point, give verbal praise and reward the dog with the
toy for barking (plus petting and attention, etc.). But make
sure you or your friend holds on to the toy while the dog
41
plays with it. A flirt pole or ball-on-a-rope will work great for
this.
• If the dog releases the toy from the grip, run back and
continue the teasing until the dog barks again.
• Now it can become like a game: Try to steal the toy from the
dog (if the dog lets go of it, don't rip it from the dog), and if
successful, return to teasing, and once again reward if the dog
barks.
• For demonstrations, see my “Teach Your Dog to Bark On
Command” video at: www.youtube.com/
HeVWMcwbf1w&t=21s.
This helps build toy drive because much like humans, dogs want
what they can't have. They also want what others want and have.
This works best when you start during the imprinting stage of a
dog’s life. However, it can work later in the dog’s life as well.
I don't even have a dog but I really want a German shepherd my mum had one before and she was amazing
GSD's are amazing dogs. :)
So detailed! I can ask? When to do the formal training(age), after the confidence boost training
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I start the formal training right away, I just try to keep it fun. :)
I love kongs and freezing food in it! Such an easy thing pet parents can do to prevent boredom and destructive behavior!
Absolutely!
Just brought home Axel...8 weeks home...I'm using your methods and love it! Thanks!!!
Yay! Thank you for sharing and I'm happy the videos are helping. :)
Such a great video. I also had my pup sleep in the crate next to me and she didn't cry, I put my hand down if she needed a lil comforting. It works.
Would associating “fun” with loud noises alter their ability to be in protection mode when you’re raising a guard dog?
I don't believe so, because often when dogs are excited, they bark. So if your dog heard an intruder, your dog would start barking and hopefully scare the intruder away.
This video is awesome the training techniques not just for the dog but with people training is amazing
Yes! Thank you, David!
Brilliant... not just the useful and clear advice but the style and delivery... straight to the point, no faffing around. Love it thank you 👍🏻
I appreciate that. Thank you! :)
What if we "inherited" a dog and our puppy he's aggressive to and doesn't like? How can I irradiate that behavior? They're both male dogs

Hey man I am getting a puppy soon and am going to train as a service dog. Any tips?
You are very informative Nate. Thankyou. I appreciate more when your delivery is slower and actually with the dog.
Thanks! :)
Best puppy training video so far, after dozens of views. Excellent balance between training and taking care of the puppies’ emotional needs. Thanks.
Awesome! Thank you!
Im getting a GSD puppy in a few weeks. This video is really helpful! I showed my husband the kiddy pool full of water bottles so he would understand why I've been collecting a closet full of"trash" the past few months 😂
Hahaha! Thanks for sharing and I'm happy you have been enjoying the training videos. :)
