If you look back, Texas wasn’t the only team from the BCS that was robbed. There were a bunch. I think if you look back, the big 12 conference was the best in 2008. Just about every team was ranked. The high expectations from Oklahoma was there, I believe Texas tech was the biggest surprise that year. Once Texas beat ou. That set the tone that year for the Longhorns. Texas played the one of the toughest stretch that year, ou, Missouri, osu, then tech. Not to mention UT had to beat atm. Which they did big. Unfortunately the BCS went off on “style-points” such BS! Texas should have played Florida. But such is life, I always bring this up for that year. Texas was the only one to win their bowl game. Ou and tech did not. Hook’em! 🤘🐂
I remember even though I was an Irish fan wanting to see a Texas-Florida in the National Championship in 2009. But then Alabama smoked Florida, and Colt got hurt against Alabama which really deflated Texas for years to come.
It was actually the Ohio State game that cost them, they were discussed as the AP champions until they barely get through a tough Ohio State team. Texas was still considered the best team in the country by many, but the BCS formula did not. They still controlled their own destiny… kind of, they just didn’t have that lights out game they needed
Don’t forget. USC got robbed too. They had one of the best defenses in the nation with guys like Brian Cushing, Rey Maualuga, Clay Matthews, Taylor Mays…etc. There was no way the BCS wanted them to play against OU or Florida.
Let me ask a Question I know that Florida won the National Championship but Texas and Oklahoma in 2008 and should have played like Michigan Ohio State in 2006 should have played in those two national championship games
Also looking back, there shouldn’t have been a big 12 north and big 12 south lol. Oklahoma and Texas should’ve played each other again for the big 12 championship lol
Tim Tebow should've won Heisman instead of Sam Bradford..If Oklahoma would've beaten Florida in BCS Championship; Texas and OU might have shared the national title ??
I still think about this team/season. You knew that team was going to be special when Colt McCoy ran over 2 rice defenders for a TD. Should have played in the NC game. Seeing Bob Stoops run up the score on teams keeping his starters in well into the 4th while Brown was taking the starters out in the third/fourth quarter still pisses me off.
I wish Sark recruited Muschamp instead of kwiakoski. Look at muschamp rn and he’s running the best defense in college football at Georgia. However, I’m not giving up on kwiakoski. Hook em 🤘🏼
Kwiatkowsi defense looking pretty good to me by now. Also, this opinion is still unpopular but it's much harder to run a great defense in the Big 12 than SEC.
I always have felt this 08 team was better than the 09 team and was robbed by the BSC that year and would have beaten Florida in the title game and they did beat a solid and sound Ohio St team in the Fiesta.
Texas should’ve played for the Big XII title that year. OU annihilated Texas Tech but Texas beat OU that year. The BCS bureaucracy billsh*t kept them from what they rightly deserved. The CFB is no better.
I didn’t get over that loss to tech until lil Jordan Humphrey returned the favor in the same end zone about a decade later. I grew up in Lubbock and I hate tech more than any other school.
Probably, but if Colt doesn't have the freak injury, they were still far and away the #1 team. That injury changed Mack Brown and the entire trajectory of 2 programs in one instant.
I really want to thank you for posting these season videos (there was one about the '63 season, too that you should post if you can). They all bring back such wonderful memories.
This is my favorite team even above the 2005 team. 2005 was better but this 2008 team had something about them. A dog mentality. I KNEW they were going to be good in July I saw Mack Brown do an interview on ESPN and he had a confidence in this team that was palpable through the screen.
My dad is a tech fan, because he is from Lubbock, but ever since i was a kid, I loved that burnt orange and white.... I will always hate tech for that loss and my hate for ou will live on through my kids.... HOOK 'EM ALL THE WAY TO HEAVEN!!!!!🤘🤘🤘
A lot of ppl don't realize nor talk about how this '08 team was better than the team next year who played Bama for the Natty. It should have been Tebow vs McCoy, not Sam... ...and not Sam The Heisman.
I’ve seen this documentary numerous times, but I’m so proud of what this team accomplished in 2008. OU wasn’t better than Texas, and Tech was also a good team but they weren’t better than Texas despite the loss in Lubbock. Colt was robbed of back to back national titles in ‘08 and ‘09. BCS and Big 12 screwed up the first year and then Alabama knew their only chance at winning was to knock Colt out of the game. Now in 2023, the Horns are in college football playoff for the first time ever, and I hope they can get two more wins to become national champions once again! Hook ‘em baby! 🤘
Football both NCAA or professional, neutering the kickoff is one of the biggest injustices in sports. Wish social just warriors would focus on bringing back the kickoff.
Still love watching Tech kick UT’s butt. This video shows how Texas always has their noses in the air that they are better. Crabtree took everything from that team and I love watching that crappy town and college cry!!
STFU fruit cake. You red Gayder fans are delusional because yall want to be what texas is and will always be. Y'all will always be irrelevant and even when texas moves to the SEC, yall will still live in our shadow.
😂 Texas Tech never won a thing in their history worth talking about. Keep dwelling on a win that doesn't matter in the present. Getting rid of Mike Leach was your biggest mistake. Enjoy the basement.
Colt McCoy got robbed of the Heisman trophy that year and Blake Gideon so cost us the Texas tech game but he still was a good player regardless.
Who did you have winning
Big time.
@@Texas1fan2001 exactly.
It’s called a football team. Not a football man. Doesn’t come down to just one person

Usc in 06 through 2008 was as good as this texas team also
I remember even though I was an Irish fan wanting to see a Texas-Florida in the National Championship in 2009. But then Alabama smoked Florida, and Colt got hurt against Alabama which really deflated Texas for years to come.

Funny how everytime the BCS had some bullshit...Oklahoma was always involved and always given favor.
I hate Oklahoma w a passion I swear I do
@@theconnors9935 War eagle Auburn
@@ericpackers1700 I’m a ride or die Longhorns fan so I don’t like nothing Oklahoma at all!!!!!
Let me ask a Question I know that Florida won the National Championship but Texas and Oklahoma in 2008 and should have played like Michigan Ohio State in 2006 should have played in those two national championship games
Because Stoops had no qualms about running up the score and the voters are dummies who fall for margin of victory.
Also looking back, there shouldn’t have been a big 12 north and big 12 south lol. Oklahoma and Texas should’ve played each other again for the big 12 championship lol
2000 Miami and 2008 Texas.
Feel each others pain.
2000 FSU and 2008 Oklahoma didn't deserve it.
fact
2000 miami vs 95 Nebraska would be epic
2000 miami vs 95 Nebraska would be epic
Facts
65-21 against tech and 62-21 against midzou in the title game says otherwise.
Tim Tebow should've won Heisman instead of Sam Bradford..If Oklahoma would've beaten Florida in BCS Championship; Texas and OU might have shared the national title ??
just like miami in 2000

It's been 16 years sent Texas longhorns football team has won national championship Colt McCoy was a good QB Hook em horns
I’ve been LOOKING ALL OVER for this!
I wish Sark recruited Muschamp instead of kwiakoski. Look at muschamp rn and he’s running the best defense in college football at Georgia. However, I’m not giving up on kwiakoski. Hook em 🤘🏼
Ya I wish they did also muschamp can recruit
He tried. Will didn’t want to leave Georgia since he’s coaching his son.
Kwiatkowsi defense looking pretty good to me by now. Also, this opinion is still unpopular but it's much harder to run a great defense in the Big 12 than SEC.
@ericpackers1700 Wait Will muschamp went to Georgia as a player along with current head coach Kirby Smart
I always have felt this 08 team was better than the 09 team and was robbed by the BSC that year and would have beaten Florida in the title game and they did beat a solid and sound Ohio St team in the Fiesta.
I agree. They were much better. Especially on offense. The defense carried the 09 team.
Texas should’ve played for the Big XII title that year. OU annihilated Texas Tech but Texas beat OU that year. The BCS bureaucracy billsh*t kept them from what they rightly deserved. The CFB is no better.
Still looking for the 2009 season
The minute Colt got hurt Texas seem to have died. They haven't been the same since.
I didn’t get over that loss to tech until lil Jordan Humphrey returned the favor in the same end zone about a decade later. I grew up in Lubbock and I hate tech more than any other school.

Earl Thomas, Jamaal charles, and Robert Joseph
True story Jordan Shipley actually caught a jackrabbit with his barehands at night...no bs true story
Would you happen to have the season 2009?
Will mushchamp was so good at Texas I miss him man
And Auburn
I’ll never forget Blake Gideon’s name lol
Only Texas would make a documentary on a season they didn’t when the National Championship or the Heisman.
Without a Doubt, the Most Devastating LOSS in Texas Longhorn History (in Lubbock).
What a year that was. Robbed.
Texas would’ve beaten Florida in the national title

I loved this team Squad
But of course, there is no rivalry between Texas, Tech and Texas.
Lmao war 🦅 eagle Auburn Texas with chizik & will Machamp being plucked from auburn from the only job that they would of left for in Texas
I hated Curtis Brown so much. People blame Gideon but Brown was the real one that blew it.
