Legendary game. I was a JR in high school, San Antonio Texas so I was a Longhorns fan. I had to work this game, Barnacle Bills seafood restaurant. I remember overhearing a customer saying "Damn UT down 35-7 to OK St 2nd quarter, their national championship season is over!" I was just like 'damn', and we didnt have smartphones then where we could just peep the score real quick on ESPN app or whatever . So I just went thru my shift assuming Texas lost. I closed that night so I didnt get home til midnight, 1AM. I just remember cooking up this steak i stole from work with ESPN in the background and just being absolutely stunned when i heard the final score of the game was 56 UT-35 OK St! Lol oh man i miss my high school days, sorry im just drunk AF now
Still remember being in the stands and telling someone when we were down 35-7 "if we go down and score here, we get the ball to start, we're going to come back and win. I just feel it!" And the funny thing is that you could feel it in the stadium too.
1:04:00 I was in the lower section right in front of the goal line on the side where Bo Scaife reached with the ball to score with 3 seconds left in the half. (It was the first time I ever sat so close at a live game and one of only two games where I had a bad view for the majority of the game, the other being the game vs. Ohio State in 2006.) I remember thinking before the play was run that either we score here or kick a FG. That play changed the tone of the game and swung it in Texas' favor. I also yelled so much that I lost my voice for 2 days...
I was there! I was taking my older brother to his first college football game. I told him how much more fun Texas games were than NFL games and he was skeptical. Then we're late getting there and Texas is already down 14-0 before we even sit down. Then it went to 21-0 and the crowd was very uneasy and very quiet. I'm thinking "Geez, why'd I have to pick THIS game?". Then the 2nd half happened, lol. Probably the favorite game I've ever attended after the '98 game against A&M where Ricky broke the all-time NCAA rushing record (and Texas won on a last second FG).
Oklahoma St. was in control for the first 28:42 of the game (OSU 35, Texas 7) & the 'Horns took over after that saying we ain't going out like no punks (Texas 49, OSU 0)
Never will forget this game. When it was 35-7, I was like, wtf is this shit. Then Texas proceeded go outscore them 49-0 the rest of the way. Probably the loudest I seen Texas fans as well.
The HAVE MERCY-! touchdown at 2:03:07... after Texas had their INT-TD called back, they had possession and Vince Young did the old lemons-to-lemonade maneuver that resulted in the "Have Mercy-!" call from this commentator... who still couldn't remember that Texas actually came back from 35-7. du-uh...
I had a similar experience at the 2001 Holiday Bowl against Washington when we were down something like 19 points in the 4th quarter. I was in the band and looked over to see a thoroughly drunk UT fan walking up and down the steps making the bold claim with the most serious face that "we will win this game!". We did.
04, 05, 07, 08 07 hurts the worst, I was there, and wasn't at all surprised. I remember all the pissed off fans, and a someone asked me why I was in a good mood. I told him I just expected something like this.
B announcers remain B announcers because they just don't get it right. Texas was down 35-7, not 35-14. What a performance by Texas. Crushed em. Hook'em Horns
Texas got screwed out of 7 seconds when they called a timeout at 1:31 but the clock ran to 1:24, then again out of 5 seconds when they got the first down at 0:48 but the clock ran down to 0:43, and still managed to score to end the first half.
This was one of the most amazing 2nd Half Performances I have ever seen. Not only did Texas comback, they whooped their ass. (not even a longhorns fan)
RIP, Cedric Benson.

My Brother, GOD rest His Soul, watched this game live - and YES He saw it all the way through!

I was there and all set to leave at the end of the half. Thankfully, I didn't.

I came here while I'm watching the Kansas City Chiefs vs Houston Texans game it is eerily similar
This game was the loudest I've ever heard the UT student section get. EVERYONE knew that Vince was gonna win it... it was unreal.

This game and the Houston game in 1990 had to be the loudest and most spirited.
I was at that game with my homie, we almost left. What an unbelievable comeback.

I was there. I remember telling people at Half Time, Don't leave. Vince will bring them back. Texas was down 35-7, then 35-14 at the Half.

One of the worst and best atmospheres I have ever been to. First half was toxic and the second half was magic.

I’ve always wondered what Dick Tomey was so upset with at 1:28:45.

I can't un-hear that now. I keep adding Letterman's laugh in my head when he's speaking.
