The next thing I know my sister grabbed my shirt and was yellin "Cody blocked it!! Cody blocked it!!" The crowd around me erupted screaming and yelling. I started crying tears of joy while weak in my knees. It is a moment in my life that I will never forget.
I had to work that game! I worked at O'Reilly Auto parts and I jumped up on the counter! Thankfully no customers were in the store because I looked like a crazy man! That was a special year for Bama football!

The Florida game in 2009 and the Sugar Bowl vs Miami following the 1992 season are the two best games I've seen Alabama play in my lifetime. Too, the 1992 and 2009 teams had a lot in common.
That Miami win was the greatest to me. Coach Stallings was was a great coach, when he put 11 defensive players on the line, Miami just gave up. Plus George Teaque running down that receiver and taking the ball away from him. So many great plays.

It was awesome that he blocked it but the kicker messed it up to begin with. That ball was kicked WAY too low and should've had more arc on it to avoid that from happening. Thank you Daniel Lincoln!! ROLL TIDE!!
Man this team was something special I remember being 9 years old watching this magical season unfold only hope I can one day experience something similar with my kid. RTR!
09 bama v Florida was like 12 bama Georgia, that was the real national championship game. It’s been a long long time since I’ve seen a game with that big of an impact of who would win it all.
As a lifelong Georgia fan, the two moments from this season that come to mind first are the last second blocked FG against Tennessee, and Alabama making Tebow cry in that SEC Championship Game.
Long live the king 'Saban'. I really liked McElroy. He really did good that season. And to have McCarron coming up next, we were blessed. Lane Kiffin always gives us our hardest games. He's a good coach. Mark Ingram and Richardson was on another level. Another half a second Tennessee would of got another shot at that field goal cause of Cody taking his helmet off too soon. Auburn is king of the trick plays. I'm glad we had Kiffin at that Auburn game calling that pass call to win it for us was awesome.
So many years putting up with the Gator impossible perfection. All I could remember was an Auburn victory over Florida. Until this game that I had been waiting for so long. I have a blanket hanging on my wall as a memorial of this season.
Very underrated QB. He had a good arm and was accurate, but his best attributes were his decision making and his leadership. He followed the cardinal rule for QB's "don't beat yourself".
@@seankelly4594 I'd say he was above average. Either way, he has a National Championship ring. And his time with the Tide led to a career in broadcasting. McElroy was also a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship.
McElroy's problem was his timing. He got to the SEC at the most pivotal moment the conference experienced since Integration. Historically, he would've fit in with the rest of the greatest QBs in SEC history, but he finished his career when the Spread Revolution guys like Tim Tebow and Cam Newton were ushering in was changing the conference forever. Being sufficient was no longer acceptable. You had to be a dazzling playmaker yourself now. AJ McCarron was easily better than Greg, John Parker Wilson, Brodie Croyle, and Tyler Watts. Easily. You'd think being the starting QB at Alabama at that time at the height of the Dynasty would open it's own doors, but it didn't. He couldn't do what Johnny Manziel, RG3, and Jameis Winston were doing, so he got overlooked. It was all about versatility now. There's a reason Blake Sims (of all people) replaced AJ at QB the very next year.
Here a day after the sec championship win vs Georgia. Everyone doubted Bama and we not only won but won by a 3 possession margin vs who everyone thought was the best team in the country by a mile! Headed into the CFB playoff game vs Cincinnati I am very excited and hope we win that and the final and can lift #19 🤞Roll Tide

Now they expect it, these are some of the guys that had the first and I can’t imagine how it felt for them coming as recruits “wanting” to achieve the highest highs but in their mind not really believing it was absolutely possible.
That is Absolutely A True Statement! Now Every Year ALL FANS/ ALL CONFERENCES- Expect ALABAMA Nick Saban to Deliver a National Championship Team- And are So Super Critical ( example- 1 of So many- Gary Danielson of CBS - Who Thinks Somehow he is a Better Armchair Coach than Saban- And THANK JESUS - SEC IS LEAVING CBS - not soon enough in Most TIDE FANS OPINIONS) - But Now Our Recruiting is SOOO DEEP IS AMAZING And The Best in the Nation- and started from 2009- And STILL GOING STRONGER THAN EVER

Then we lost the Bear & everything went down hill til we got Gene Stallings and Bama beating Miami in the Sugar Bowl was so delightful. I was in a room full of Hurricane fans & I took their $$$!!! I moved & my life was crazy for a decade & Bama was too. But then Saban showed up. And I knew Bama was back as soon as I heard Saban make his first speach at Alabama!!! 2007 showed growing pains but I knew that the program would blossom. And it bloomed well over a decade!!!

I was there both years and stood outside the locker room and got every Bama players autograph,Bears and Joe Paternos on our programs.
Nick Saban is the greatest college football coach of all time. He is a playaway here and there from winning multiple national championships he did not win. And at the time of this post ,he has seven overall six at bama and one at LSU. The entire time he has been coaching at Alabama he has lost less games than the average SEC team in a two-year span, give or take a few games. As an Alabama fan I felt every one of those losses, but it's good to know that a bad season for Alabama is not winning the national championship. Other than Nick Saban himself the fans demand perfection.
Love McElroy......everyone said before that Florida game that both team were even at every position except QB....Florida had All-world Tebow and we had a nobody a nothin at QB.....Well i got a lil choked up watchin how flawless McElroy played that night.......when that game was over he was a Bama Legend for life because he slayed the unbeatable....Tebow....after that win Florida and the entire college football world knew his name.

It’s 2022 and Saban is entering a season ranked #1 in the country. He has the #1 recruiting class today…What’s crazy is BAMA just played in yet another ship last year and loss to UGA…They’re back this year loaded with a returning Heisman QB, a great offense and a killer Defense. Saban Truly is the GOAT. He is the Jason Vorhees of college football! And that 2008-2009 TEAM started the DYNASTY!
Watching this three years later, and look at what they have done to the running back position in the NFL no matter what the foundation of Football is running the ball. Perfect example of South Carolina versus Alabama. #22 saved the game by running. Block O-line, gap, man, over, outside.
That team picked up a program put it on their backs and carried us to the top. Then passed it on to the next one and looked them in the eye and said, we put it on top now keep it here. Defend this mountain top like you would you child. The bama nation is watching past present and future. So never forget you do not want to be the one to end it,so carry on.
Despite the accomplishments of the 2008 team as well as the list of contributors we had coming back, there were many national as well as regional pundits who believed Ole Miss would win the SEC West and face Florida in the SEC Championship Game in 2009.
From Losing in a One Point Loss to Michigan in the 2000 FedEX Orange Bowl on January 1, 2000 at the Start of the New Millennium, New Century, and a New Decade into the 2000's endured a 3-8 season in the Year 2000, through a National Champions in 2009.
This team is 1 of my favs of Saban era, Hard to claim 1 team tho as my fav tho. Nothin against Greg McCleroy but Aj is my fav QB during this Dynasty. But after my fav I can’t decide 2nd fav or further. Personal opinion and not saying AJ was better than the other QBs during the Saban era. I just have always like Aj lol extremely underrated too, a lot and McCleroy,Blake Sims, Jake Coker also underrated.
Saban definitely played a part in taking down Tennessee and Florida’s reign of the SEC, Tennessee’s reign officially ended in 2009, that season pretty much sealed the deal, obviously the end began a few years before that. One day it’ll change, Tennessee will be back on top, football has tides (no pun intended), both Tennessee and Bama, being the two most successful SEC programs have had there fair share of both low and high tides, although Bama seems to have more high tides than Tennessee. My only wishes is that one day all the SEC Greats, LSU, Bama, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, will all be great at the same time, we’d have some pretty epic races to get to the SECCG

I was virtually weeping at the start of that 2009 SEC championship game, it was like here we are again against Tebow...
These games will forever be remembered! This is the greatest dynasty ever in college ball. RoLLTideRoLL!
Probably 1 of my ALL TIME Bama seasons ever.. ROLL TIDE!
As a ND fan it’s in my DNA not to root for Bama….but damn they’ve been SO good for SO long….I feel very lucky to have been able to witness the run they’ve been on for over a decade now…Go Irish!☘️
I think Kirby will end up surpassing Nick once he's gone. Maybe Bama can purchase his services after Saban retires.
Watching this in 2020 after Bama won the SEC title over Florida and im reminded why I ❤ Greg McElroy.
He brought us victory over Tebow. He may not mean anything to you but he's a Legend in Tuscaloosa. #RollTide
Tebow crying,I will remember that forever
@@RT22-pb2pp made it more special.
When Saban said this is the beginning I knew he was going to change this program untill the best college team in modern history and he did that
I Love Greg he was a great QB he does not give himself enough credit
Now we can add another one to that - 2020, under difficult circumstances with covid, but an all SEC Schedule, 13-0 is sweet! Roll Tide Roll!!! 🐘🏈🏆
My favorite season!
@@bebe9142 My favorite season ever too!! It was so fun watching an all SEC schedule. And the team just seemed extremely close (also like the 2009 team). Roll Tide!
@@ashleydaniell1553 Roll Tide!!!❤️🐘❤️
This was an incredible film, and I cannot believe the NFL legends that just played not knowing the future
Who’s watching this after we just beat Georgia. Yes. I love this team and this coach. Just never count out Alabama never.
The 2008 and 2009 teams set the foundation for the Saban years. Never forget!
That blocked kick against Tenn. is a miracle.
2 Blocked Kicks to be precise
@@bamafan5099 the last one was more important than the first one.
Ok...
I remember wishing that we block it, and it happened.
For me, it's the NC walkover. No freshman QB in this century has played all but 6 plays of a NC game with only 150 yds of experience on the season.
Saban is the undeniable GOAT for sure and they are having an UNBELIEVABLE run! 👍
Alabama Crimson Tide a great football program and Nick Saban one of the greatest coaches in College Football history a hall of famer.
I think he is now the greatest coach in college football history after he beat Ohio state for number 7
im a tennessee fan sadly, but mad respect for nick and bama.
So many years putting up with the Gator impossible perfection. All I could remember was an Auburn victory over Florida. Until this game that I had been waiting for so long. I have a blanket hanging on my wall as a memorial of this season.
I was very lucky to be there!!!! It ended up freezing cold by the end but Mark warmed us back up.... South Carolina
Here we are 1/15/21 and Alabama is coming off its 6th National Championship in 12 years.
Crazy to see the dynasty they’ve become.
McElroy talkin bout himself as if he wasn’t a top tier collegiate athlete. Cool guy
Very underrated QB. He had a good arm and was accurate, but his best attributes were his decision making and his leadership. He followed the cardinal rule for QB's "don't beat yourself".
@@tidefanyankee2428 that's a nice way too say he's avg which he was
@@seankelly4594 I'd say he was above average.
Very humble.
Imagine the feeling after eat here achievement for the first guys compared to the guys of now and recent years. Now they expect it, these are some of the guys that had the first and I can’t imagine how it felt for them coming as recruits “wanting” to achieve the highest highs but in their mind not really believing it was absolutely possible.
My favorite team of alabama hands down
That is Absolutely A True Statement!
@@lovingenglishmastiffs7165 some Bama fans are like that but not all of us. That's why I don't mind seeing them lose sometimes. Gets some of those "fair weather", bandwagon fans to jump ship somewhere else. Those fans didn't suffer through the mid/late 90's and early 00's with the rest of us true fans. Those Freddie Kitchens years were tough to be a Bama fan lol.
10 20 2021 I'm back reliving these good ole days
Love The Crimson Tide. Best Team Ever.
McEnroe has turned out to be the guy I listen to about what each team has going for it and his analyzes of teams! He’s just the best! All the men I know classify him as the best and most accurate research of game challengers! He’s amazing and was a great Quarterback for Alabama! I listen to him and search for his thoughts on games ahead! He’s spot on!
I remember watching Bama as a child. I remember seeing the 2 losses to Notre Dame in the 70's. I remember the Natty's against Arkansas & Penn State. Then we lost the Bear & everything went down hill til we got Gene Stallings and Bama beating Miami in the Sugar Bowl was so delightful. I knew before the game even started that Bama was going to win the day. When Teague ran down what should have been a TD for Miami & took the ball away from the receiver I lmao!!!!
ALABAMA: THE GREATEST DYNASTY IN THE HISTORY OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!! UNBELIEVABLE DOMINANCE. AND LIKE THEY SAY ALABAMA DOESN'T HAVE BACKUPS THEY JUST HAVE MORE STARTERS LOL I'm a husker fan but I love watching Alabama and how disciplined and tough every team is every year. Enjoyable to watch. Roll tide and GO BIG RED

You may be too young to remember but Bama was a Dynasty long before then, remember Bear Bryant? Late 70's Sugar Bowls against Penn State, the most memorable moment in Bama history "Goal line stand". I was there both years and stood outside the locker room and got every Bama players autograph,Bears and Joe Paternos on our programs.
That Rocky Stop against Tennessee was unforgettable
He really said their offense against ole miss was bad, it was like 51-3 like come on now
I miss that South Carolina team we haven’t been the same since Spurrier retired
thanks for the upload, lots of respect for these guys and that team and especially Saban.
The Cody block was awesome reliving it
Love McElroy......everyone said before that Florida game that both team were even at every position except QB....Florida had All-world Tebow and we had a nobody a nothin at QB.....Well i got a lil choked up watchin how flawless McElroy played that night.......when that game was over he was a Bama Legend for life because he slayed the unbeatable....Tebow....after that win Florida and the entire college football world knew his name.
11, 12 months? Greg, y’all beat the monkey that had been on our back for years! We had begun to think we would never know that feeling ever again. FINALLY, Bamanation knew we were BACK!! If not for y’all buying into Saban’s process, we may never have recovered from the malaise.
Thanks doesn’t say enough how grateful we are for this team’s effort! You will all be a special team to us! RTR!🐘👏❤️‼️
Anywhere Big Ten and PAC8/10/12 football fans travel, they tell you how special Pasadena and why it's called "The Granddaddy" of all the bowl games. There's nothing that even compares to the Rose Bowl. It's pretty cool modern day Alabama got to experience it.
A great documentary. Mandatory viewing for any college football fan.
Yup, 5 National Championships in the last 13 plus years, an heck of an accomplishment. "Never Been Satisfied" FROM: Nick Saban
I’m a Tennessee fan can’t believe I watched this whole thing lol it was enjoyable though as I love football regardless but I hate the way finebaum roasted them lol
Canes fan here, but Bama has been the gold standard for almost 20 years now.
Thank you, much love and respect for your Canes the U once mighty team who still owns Oklahoma and Texas. Hoping Bama can be like the U back in the day. With serious attitude aggression and huge chip on the shoulder!! Happy holidays and Roll Tide to the U!! Good luck to your team, the U
Will always be my favorite Bama team of all-time, born in 87
That season started the bama dynasty
Hopefully this 2020 team finishes off.an undefeated season with a National Title.
When Upchurch caught that pass...a little tear came out.
That Virginia Tech team they played was super talented but had horrendous play calling from the offensive coordinator
Still unbelievable! RTR!!
the number of coaches and mini dynasties that we ended and survived is jaw dropping.
The 2009 squad was the perfect combination of hard-working veterans and young 4/5 star studs
Thank you guys, you set the tone!
Despite the accomplishments of the 2008 team as well as the list of contributors we had coming back, there were many national as well as regional pundits who believed Ole Miss would win the SEC West and face Florida in the SEC Championship Game in 2009.
Congratulations to Alabama they won another national championship again
From Losing in a One Point Loss to Michigan in the 2000 FedEX Orange Bowl on January 1, 2000 at the Start of the New Millennium, New Century, and a New Decade into the 2000's endured a 3-8 season in the Year 2000, through a National Champions in 2009.
Little did these guys know they would be the foundation to build a dynasty
As Nick Saban retires and I look back on it all. No game matches the joy I had after the 2009 SEC championship.
😂😂😂this post only makes sense to Tennessee fans. Tennessee official rain ended in 2009 😂😂😂😂😂😂 ? Yeah right
