No, it would be bad in the community eyes as it's too balanced. The community hates fiendsmith because it's good. They would also hate fiendsmith if it was bad. In other words, the community just hates yugioh.
That’s the biggest issue with the game right now too many engines don’t lock you in a type or attribute… yubel being able to make Apollo going through however many fiend cards, snakes eyes being able to use any generic link/synchro because no lock except for princess etc… if these decks could only make dedicated boss monsters they’d be fine. Same issue kinda happened with tear no lock on any of the cards just free style for however many mills.
@@lmr4403You couldn't summon cards like Apollousa, Accescode, Little Night, Beatrice, etc. A fiend lock would not allow Yubel Fiendsmith to be that dominant.

It happened a lot in the past were drawing 2 engine pieces didn't mean you could play under 1 handtrap but in snakes there is no conflict of resources between SE, diabelle and fiendsmiths, on top of the fact they are all able to pivit into each other without the need to open any specific one.
I think the easiest way to deal with it is ban bea, ban closed heaven, ban apollusa. Bea and Apo have it coming outside of this, and closed heaven cuts off its splashability while keeping it accessible to fiend archetypes such as fabled.

It wasn't exactly nice to tell my older brother he'll need to set $ aside for the engine , but when my buddy opened Requiem and Tract, it was a sign 😅
I like this style of video Its very helpful I also enjoy seeing your insight as to what should be hit to reduce power level Especially considering i saw this after the banlist and you were basically spot on for the bans to reduce Fiendsmiths potential
I will be honest, the idea that we would consider Fabled Lurie a ban target is peak YuGiOh. Old cards that do very little or nothing suddenly becoming peak combo pieces or just too strong by accident. How long was Summon Limit legal before it really was seen as a problem card. Rivalry and Gozen as well. Those cards where fully legal for so long because archetypes for the most part where able to stay within one monster type or one attribute. But as we have gotten so much wider with what an archetype can be they became much stronger. I for one, will be siding Cycle Reader once more for fiendsmith engines, lets see what the brewers come up with as flexible side techs against Fiends this format.
I agree with the take, I think if they do more limitations or release more cards against fiends or light monsters it could be slowly going back to a less dominant form of engine or later it becomes it own archetype and it stops beeing an engine in most decks because of the extra deck slots it takes
As someone who's playing catch up after leaving shortly before Synchros came out, videos like this help a lot to understand where the meta is at. I didn't understand how broken snake-eyes was until I had a chance to play an incomplete deck in Master Duel. The synergies with non-Fire monsters is still decent, even if not meta, and when the other stuff wasn't getting as far, snake-eyes goes from Plan B to Plan A, and my new Plan B is when my Snake-eyes gets hand trapped, "Oh no! Second archetype is taking over" with mixed results, but still more consisant than without snake-eyes
The problem is the lack of locks in general. Without locks you can splash everything in everywhere, and this for a competitive game is evil, because a competitive game needs diversity.
I opened a hand of Black Witch, Lurrie & 3 Engraver yesterday going 2nd. My opponent was playing Horus monsters and made Zombie Vampire and milled the top 4 of both of our decks… top card of my deck was Tract (this was after pile shuffling and several riffle shuffles to randomize)… Anyways I drew Mulcharmy Perulia for turn and still almost played through his board because of Tract’s GY effect to fuse letting me get plays started. The engine is stupid strong to the point where you can draw the entire engine and still attempt to play sometimes. Haha
They should just ban Beatrice and the DDD card. Fiendsmith while powerful doesn’t seem that broken if those got banned. To be honest … Konami should errata way more cards that are too powerful. Just make them more theme specific or to require a card of a theme it belongs to: like Barrone.
I’m getting tired of these over the top engines that do so much without restrictions. Other than that, great insight as I do have a regional coming in September that I’m excited for.
Closed Moon isn’t getting banned. That’d be one of the dumbest bans ever to hit the card because it has generic materials and happens to be fiend type. Beatrice will likely get banned to stop some of the more degenerate things with the engine even outside of fetching the SE engine, but the Fiendsmith engine will end up staying at more or less full power for another format. On the subsequent list, the link 1 is getting banned. That’d put it in line with other heavy hitters like Knightmare Goblin and Gumblar that only made it a few months before getting hit. Banning Closed Moon would be like banning Phoenix and Cerberus instead of Mermaid. It’s also a non-hit because you can still access it easily enough with other cards like Exciton and Melomelody. A generic rank 3/4 is harder to make than just any 2 monsters, but it’s still not exactly hard to get into. Now something like Terrortop or Tour Guide is full Fiendsmith combo on their own. It’s also not very comparable to SHS given that the link 1 got banned and came our way before Wakaushi did, in the same set with Talents. It’s easier to justify banning an older card that enables degenerate plays than a card that just came out.
Honestly they should have just locked you into fiends. Yubel would probably dominate for a bit before they got bonked in the head, but this engine is going to be everywhere. Remember when people thought the adventure engine was gonna get banned? LMAO
In the basic combo also you can still do the full lacrima combo even if you don’t have the extra body with the moon line. When you make the princess and summon back the fiendsmith you can overlay into M7, then use is to detach SPECIFICALLY the fiendsmith, now it’s in the grave and you can add it back to hand. Discard it for tract and get into lurrie and that’s your extra light fiend to do the full combo without needing an extra body
Day 24 of trying to convince Josh to play runick fiendsmith muskets I think the first hit to this engine will be Lurrie, since it is the old card that enables full combo without your normal. Also, I don't think Engraver to 1 would make a difference, since we in TCG got necroequip princess and that's basically a free lv 6 in the ED that only is stopped by how tight the ED is, which could not be enough once they ban Apo and Beatrice
imagine for one moment, fiendsmith would lock you into fiends or light fiends. it would actually a really cool addition to dark worlds, BA, musketeers or fabled and it might shift the meta in a musketeer - snake eyes domination (or yubel musketeer snake eyes dominitation depending on the attribute lock) which would actually be kinda cool (compared to the current one).
The level 4 make ls an easy chaos angel with the much better protection effect, and it can be a 1 of, and it’s not the worst draw. Overall making the engine tick a bit better. The lvl 3 is worst thing I have ever seen, but thank god.
Hitting Moon of the Closed Sky with Gnomaterial effectively DBarriers calling link unless they've got a remaining unused way to get Moon off the field ala ash/oak.
I mean fabled lurrie is probably the best ban because it means you dont get a free 1 card combo anymore, you have to discard for tract & potentially use your normal summon. And then if they hit bonfire + wanted, most of the time youd have to neg for diabellestar as well, which would curb the power level a bit as well
Great video ❤, you didn't really mention it but I also feel like the Lacrima burn is a crazy bonus effect, being able to burn for 1200 in-combo is ridiculous with the current time rules. Just giving a free time wincon to every deck that plays the engine was really not necessary...

good video do more of these but do a before they are in the tcg how they can be used and a after video on how they are being used. thx
You need to remake this updated
This should have been archetype specific rather than generic.
In short. Wow these cards are ridiculous
Sanct is insane in D/D
I think it's unfair ban cards that can be good in some rogue decks or tier 2 cause only 1 deck abuse of them
runick fiendsmith is about to go so crazy
Rogue and untiered decks catching strays so the Meta cards/decks can stay is a tale as old as time.
