I think that this was super insightful for me. I didn't finish your video before entering a tournament with my own brew of Centurion, and everything in the 2nd half of the video came up during my 5 round run. I think I've got a good grasp on exactly what cards need to be in the deck now.
"The Bystials Did more work than the Centurion Cards." Honestly sounds like you should give Bystial Control a shot then. Red-Eyes Fullmetal from ROTA is a really good addition to the deck too.
Man I love Bystials and Regained. They're some of the coolest card designs I've ever seen in this game. I hope they don't randomly end up banned or limited in the TCG.
Very good video quality overall! Your thoughts and explanations behind every choice are such valuable lessons for me. Also I really like the format of this deck profile where you answer a few questions from chat in addition to your regular profile.
I topped a regional and won an ots champs last week with a 60 card centurion deck that played minimal centurions that played more hand traps and 1 card combo engines like shs and punk to play better into hand traps, not be normal summon reliant, play more non-engine and not see bricks or mid draws and significantly higher ceiling. Didn’t lose a single game where I got to go first
I think for increasing your decksize is a hugely underrated option in the game, especially these days when there are so many big engines and so many viable handtraps. A reasonable argument against it is the card quality. But I think sometimes it’s just worth it to have the slightly inferior versions to guarantee you don’t brick. Saronir is a crazy good second choice substitute for Lubellion, and it changed how I thought about deck building once I added 3 to my dragon link deck.
I had a single Saronir in my Centurion deck along with Magna, Druis, Drake, 3 Lubellion and Regained, but I recently cut the Saronir because it seemed to be the least impactful of the package and I just didn’t “get it”. Can you explain what I’m missing with Saronir? Specifically with Centurion, I get why it’s so good in dragon link.
Really like the 10:46 explanation for the fuwallos, thank you. Also for the side deck patterns. Tommorow I am going 3 v 3 with centurion and this was very helpfull.

The above 40 cards point reminds me of Mermaid Orcust. Because any 2 monsters were full combo for the deck you could water down the garnets with more starters and maintain the same consistency. I think any deck that doesn't have those power cards, that you just want to see every single game and do significantly worse without, should consider if they can improve their ratios by playing more cards. To be fair though a large majority of decks have those power cards.
I really can’t wait to see what you come up with to make the deck more streamlined and resilient. Please post progress soon, if anyone reading this agrees please like so josh is more likely to see it
If you want to make your engine larger you could add the super heavy package. Gives you either a synchro 8 or 12. Plus it gives you more tuner access to play with the bystials.
16:38 - That's exactly what I've tried as well, and it actually works pretty well! The Diabellstar/Azamina package can be a starter since you can get Primera Primus out without using your normal summon and full combo off of that. You don't need to care too much about Nib, either, since you can continue your combo with the Level 11 token + Jet Synchron. At the same time, it can extend your combo through interruption, or secure your plays by summoning the omni negate before you do anything else. That plus more handtraps in a 50-60 card centurion deck is the way to go, I think.
I have decided to play & invest fully into my cent deck yesterday and this videos helped me alot. Especially for siding pattern. Im just 1 emblema oath and 3 byatial lubellion away from success.
first of all, big fan..new to the game but your videos with centurions were really enjoyable and helpful and i really hope i see more of those....second, i would like to ask, whats your opinion about super poly...??? i tried it and it has really saved my ass most of the times....when handraps are not enough, super poly is gonna break the best of their monsters, giving me, the same time, a body to extend my combos...
Ngl I’ve tested centurion and I really enjoy seals! Hard drawing a regain and bystials lets say a magnumut then getting it back from seals for more bodys just feels so sick
Foolish burial goods with rainbow bridge is the solution to your problems. It gives you more starters that are better quality than bonfire. This enables you to play a higher main deck count, which is correct as you were on to. It also allows you some extra flexibility when its not needed for combo since phalanx, wake up, or black goat can be sent. I hope you try this out.
FB goods requires you to add 2 one-ofs that are bad to draw which results in the exact scenario he is trying to avoid by increasing card count. The ratio between starters, non-engine, and one-ofs remains the same with fb goods, except overall card quality has gone down.
Rainbow bridge is fine to draw. It can be discarded or it can actually be set and used in this deck. Fb goods itself is better card quality than the normal summons of the deck. You are adding 1 brick to gain 3 high quality starters/extenders. This allows you to increase the main deck count to avoid drawing the bricks more often.
@ the only way to discard rainbow bridge is the field spell, which means the graveyard effect is meaningless as you already have the only search target. As for actually using the on field effect of rainbow bridge, it’s super awkward to set up in a way that’s profitable. But even if you are correct that it should be viewed as a 3/1 instead of a 3/2 ratio, that still means we are adding in bad cards to draw, except the crystal beast monsters all suck to draw even more so than the one-ofs already in the deck.
Hey Josh I used Hypergeometric distribution to build it at 50 because of what you said around minute 18 and it works smoothly because you have a high chance of drawing multiple one card starters. I play the other 3 1 offs that you don't play because 2 of them help me extend ridiculously in turn 1 and for grind and the omni negate trap card is great.
Shifter in centurion is soo broken. You only lose to ash, imperm, and now impulse. Im very happ that you did bring up the one less primera in this variant too. I also love sauravis, it is so cracked in the deck too.
I don't think you'll ever see this, but I wanted to ask you about Dis Pater: 1) how much you summoned it and 2) whether it felt winmore at the point you summoned it. Personally, I play Saronir as well in the Bystial package, allowing me to side in Beast, particularly versus White Forest and Runick variants that would allow you to full combo and opt for breakers. The grind is incredible. Also Saro has been an outstanding discard giving me essentially an additional Lubellion that can work as a handtrap going second. I believe we already have a good Yubel matchup as is, so I focused more on countering FIRE. The replacement for Dis Pater has been Ruddy Rose, and I believe it's the solution to the "you can't break their boards" issue you mentioned, by taking away their followup (Prom, Azamina, Flam, Snakes, OSS, Garunix etc). The fact we can also negate any of the FK cards, including the starters such as Island and Ulcanix makes this a disruption when they already struggle for followup. Additionally I believe you severely underestimate Atrii. The draw loop in a simplified gamestate is incredibly annoying fueling your hand with handtraps. And a lot of times you will need the 2nd tuner. Very important to note Primera can be Ogre'd on the search effect locking you out of tuner access. This is where my 2nd different card in the extra got a lot of value, Arms of Genex instead of IP. In every hand we have LIGHT/DARK access, and with 3 Ash we get even more value from a used handtrap. Only DARK Chaos Angel isn't enough, and Dis Pater is easier to play around. Being able to deal with both Phantom + Fiendsmith play on the same chain makes the Yubel matchup even more favorable.
For the side, Deck Lockdown can hurt you a lot if you get handtrapped then turn 3 you can't play due to it. I believe in Solemn Judgment and it has been excellent this format, while Cosmic should still be sided vs FK because they love to set Skill Drain or Anti Spell. I get the idea with the Gamma Package, I thought of this as well but I hate adding an additional brick and taking away so many slots (even with 2-1 ratio) so I opted for Shifter instead. This will change with Crossover Breakers. This has also been the first deck I don't play Imperm, going for handtraps that are live when I get draws and Droll in my opinion is excellent at creating semi-boards even Centurion can push through. Creates fairly simple side patterns as well with Lubellion and Bystials.
In what world is fire letting you setup a synchro 10 without using princess and by extension the rest of the fire king stuff? As soon as you special summon something they will come out and destroy whatever you have set up
I know its not the same deck but, ive been playing alot of lab and maindecking fuwaloss and what you said really resonated with me. Ive been wanting to take it out of the main for the same reasons. The fire decks give 1 draw and set up things that are still hardish to break.
I've started to replace Gargoyle with Chimerea, the other maindeck Pyro, mainly because I like the replacement effect for the grindgame, and it's also another bonfire target if you already have Trudea access. Apart from that, for the potential Kashtira package I'm a bigger fan of Unicorn/Birthcontrol instead of Fenrir. Consistently been a very reliable handtrap deterrent and GY disruption a lot of decks just aren't prepared for anymore.
Against tenpai i use the other lv12 synchro omni negate because it gives your entire board one time destruction protection and it helps for raigekis and dark holes
I like how you explain which extender you need whenever start with yellow or pink. Have you ever consider play primite package for tuner and non tuner extender, or even play with runick spell for both go 1st and 2nd?
I understand the logic behind not playing fuwaloss, as that you don’t want the opponent to play. Counter argument though, I think dropping fuwalos, even at times only 1, tends to make the opponent not even set up half boards (are quarter boards thing). the thing i kinda hate about centurion is that it's a somewhat grindy deck in it's playstyle, but it has a really bad grind game since all your spells aren't recyclable and you run out of engine by turn 3
Question for OCG centurion: Would you still play the Bystial package? (Aside from the antisynergy into Maliss) We only have 1 Lubellion, is the package still good?
Do you always do cl1 Primera and then cl2 Stand up? Or is it better vice versa? The whole impulse situation kinda sounded weird. Plus in Master Duel the game always does cl1 Stand up and cl2 Primera unless thats just a settings thing.
It is a setting that can harm many lines if left the way it is. You should change your Chain Sequence from auto to manual. For example vs Voiceless you can always put Stand Up as CL2+ avoiding Sauravis from negating your synchro summon.
Something to consider: if you went all day without needing your full combo at all, then perhaps you don’t need to even bother playing any of those one-ofs. Perhaps design the deck knowing you won’t ever use full combo.
