I wish there was some way you could test it out *before* dropping a grand. As budget-conscious as I am, I would probably dedicate that money to other items.
I think it's a neat piece I always like a bit of versatility. However efficiency is priority with busy lives, and this honestly looks a little too dangerous for my tastes. It's one of those things I'd probably have bought without watching an honest review and left it set up for preacher curls and cried about my wasted money. Thanks Gluck!!!
It looks neat but since I’m already flustered at how long it takes me to setup and tear down for each exercise, this looks like a no-go. I also have a Titan Fitness rack so it may not even fit.
I got it and it is too complicated for me, pretty pretty heavy and I am 180 lbs person. I was super excited and waited for almost 6 months and when I got it, I realized that I am not going to use it, so I will sell it soon since I got to that realization after the return period has passed.
Honestly it’s intimidating just thinking about how intricate it is compared to a barbell and weights. Great creative product but I don’t think I’d be creative enough to get enough uses out of it haha
@@Thepokechoprx I feel like that flexibility is exciting, but I just struggle with the cost of that. It's not that it can't do a lot, it's that so so much of the basic basic pieces of equipment do most of those things absolutely fine. A dedicates ham curl machine can't be made from a basic barbell and rack setup, but Romanian deadlifts have been building hamstrings for let's say a minute.
Great overview of its functionality and limitations. I like the idea of having the ability to do a ton of novel movements that I could not usually be able to do in my home gym. I could see permanently mounting this to its own dedicated overhead crossmember and post in a corner so I would never have to take it down, but just set up different movements depending on my program.
Thanks for the shout out, Gluck! 🙏 Excellent job on the review! Very thorough. I agree it isnt for everyone, but the Isolator brings my small home gym a lot of versatility. I've really enjoyed "tinkering" with it and seeing what I can get out of it. I'm excited to see what else they come out with to attach to it. Again, great review bro. @@ultrainstinct8392 Thank you 🙏 I don't think that would work unfortunately. My 3x3 is just barely smaller and it is a lot of tightening. This is one of those pieces that I would have all kinds of great ideas and after 2 weeks probably use it for one or two things. I think I will pass with the $1000+ price tag when I could get something like a Rep Athena for around that.
Yeah I think I would just end up using it for leg extensions and curl, preacher curls, and hip thrusts depending on the feel. Which is a decent amount of exercises but for $800 it’s questionable.
This review really helped! Seriously the fumbling and error clips helped the most. I think all of us will be there sooner or later if we aren’t aware. Thanks
This piece has a lot of versatility and for someone that enjoys tinkering like you put it, will enjoy it a lot. Someone like me that enjoys the dedicated machine without the setup, probably won’t enjoy it as much. I’m looking forward to the squat arm though!!
Honestly, if I had tried it first, I wouldn’t have bought it. It is very heavy (for me) and having to switch the lever arms to the opposite side to perform the other side takes time. I was excited for my husband to use it for preacher curls, but we never figured out a comfortable way to use it. I purchased a separate four post rack to keep the isolator installed. I use the rack more than the isolator.
Fantastic review! You nailed many of the initial thoughts I have about the Isolator. For me, I bought it for two main reasons, leg curls and leg extensions. I am completely maxed out with space in my garage gym and this enables me to add both of these exercises to the mix within my power rack. All of the other exercises are an extra benefit. Shout out to Carter, Flex, and Joe! Their Isolator content has been super helpful! Great review! 🦾🦾🦾
There's definitely a place for this in a lot of people's gyms. Cool and interesting piece. Was happy to get a chance to mention some other hard working channels.
I've watched literally hundreds of gym equipment reviews over the years, and the segment with Gluck messing up the various exercises has to be the single funniest thing I've seen in any of them. Pure comedy.
Much like a quality power rack, I think they should add numbers to every hole. I'll use Angle for the circular adjustment point and Position for the linear adjustments (rack, weight arm, pivot arm). Then they can create/sell a template book so that people can record setups for each exercise and make it quicker to get going. I don't know all the options, but something like Exercise, Rack Position, Static Attachment, Static Attachment Point, Static Attachment Angle, Pivot Arm Angle, Pivot Arm Position, Weight Arm Position. Then people could record their setups easily in their book (or spreadsheet). Example loosely based off the Preacher Curl Setup in the video. Exercise: Preacher Curl Rack Position: 12 Static Attachment: Pad Static Attachment Position: 1 (of 2) Static Attachment Angle: 23 Pivot Arm Angle: 13 Pivot Arm Position: 9 Weight Arm Position: 9
Exactly what I was thinking! I already have spreadsheets that I periodically update & print out to keep in my gym, which show me how to set up exercises I do using my rack, freemotion functional & adjustable bench etc so set up is instant & it saves so much time messing about trying to get all the various things positioned correctly. My Rouge bench doesn't have numbers so I just count the holes starting with flat as number 1 but I will get a stencil & spray paint some numbers on if I ever get some spare time. I'd imagine trying to count all the holes etc on the Bulletproof thing would become a nightmare so it really could do with having numbers.

The attachment looks quite complex, but comes with great flexibility. It is probably is an attachment you really need to think about for a long time. When you want a certain exercise, This attachment will give you options. Thanks for the review.
Thank you Gluck! Excellent review as always! This Isolator is a must have in a small home gym!! And you are the FIRST that given such a detailed and through review of the Isolator! Please also get the new attachments when they come out as they will make the Isolator more versatile!

I've always wondered what your video reviews sounded like. I finally figured it out. Aside from your humor, your videos sound like a Motortrend car review..
Great review, Gluck!! When I first seen this piece of equipment a few weeks ago. I was fired up about it. I couldn’t find any reviews I really trusted but in the meantime I kind of starting thinking about all there is to set up. And storing it would def be s problem. I’m going to still process it but for right now I think there are other things I’ll buy.
I think for this attachment you HAVE to have a MacGyver attitude about gym equipment. But once you know your own setups seems like the setup times will get a lot easier. I love DIY and the build quality looks super solid. Great review 💪
GLUCK!!! Show off that doc to us! I don't have the imagination to think of exercises to try with this equipment and maybe I want to see if it's "good enough" for some movements you think otherwise.
Very detailed review Adrian, I think you sold me on why not to purchase this piece of equipment. I am not the most mechanically inclined person, and I already struggle with my damn Jammer Arms (Iso Arms from Rep Fitness) figuring out the height etc. for different exercises. My main need for this piece of equipment would be for Leg Curls/Hamstrings as I do not have anything particular in my gym for those exercises. This seems somewhat similar to the GOAT attachment from Stray Dog. Too be honest I may just eventually buy the Leg/Curl Machine from Sorinex/or Prime Fitness which are really nice and not too big and awkward for taking up space. (I would have to be very creative) I do only have a one car garage Gym so space is a premium, however I do rent out my space to Personal trainers where they can train their clients for cheaper than in a commercial gym, so a decent leg equipment machine would definitely be a bonus. I noticed Brandon did not make a comment on this review? Could you imagine him using this in his home gym in his basement? LOL
I'd rather people be informed so they don't waste their money. We could make a lot more by omitting details but that's a terrible way to be. They'll be some adjustable benches with leg curls /extension attachments so I'll be interested to see how those work as an alternative. Brandon with this would be entertaining
Really cool piece of equipment, love to see it. If it was a bit cheaper, I would very strongly consider getting one myself. Honestly with how much versatility this brings, think the price tag is pretty acceptable, but just a bit too high for me to pull the trigger
Definitely does a lot, but... I'm thinking the set up time and storage issues might make it a hard decision. I've been contemplating the purchase since I saw it on Carter's Gym channel. The resistance curve is also a downer for me. I'd like to see this type of system with some sort of consistent curve. Maybe a cam type attachment to hook to a cable system? Maybe I'll have to purchase this and make the cam attachment so I can hook it to my Surplus Strength UPS?
That’s a very cool attachment. I do agree with you… if I paid for that my wife would kill me and it takes some real time to adjust it and figure out the right placement.
@ honestly I actually did use it a lot But I sold my old rack (PR-4000) and the isolator. The isolator is pretty heavy. I upgraded my Rep Fitness rack to the PR-5000. So I no longer have the isolator
12:20 🤣rip Thanks for the comprehensive review. Confirmed my suspicions. It's not for me, even if I had that much free real estate on either side of my six post - which I don't. In my home gym experience, time is more valuable than money, and the constant setup and teardown of any particular "work station" is more cost prohibitive than the sticker price. I prefer static setups, ie a separate dedicated squat/press/bench/deadlift area. This device would impinge on at least three of those, so it's off the table for me. It is an interesting attempt at building a better mousetrap though, and I can see it being useful to people who are really big into accessory "gym machine" style circuits who don't have the space for dedicated machines and don't mind the setup/teardown aspects for every exercise.
Another great review Gluck. I always get a laugh out of your self-deprecating shots. You mentioned that you used this on your Ares rack and I was curious if the cables that run down the front post caused any problems with using either the Isolator or the Ares functional trainer itself?
On the 4 post you have to move the cable (depending which side you put it on) to install it but there's no rubbing. I just move it to the side to put it on and then let it go back into place. It works but It would be better on a 6 post so you'd have more room. Or maybe if I didn't connect the racks together and it wasn't so crowded 😂
I heard Coop! suggest that you mount this thing on a single post attached supported at the top and bottom coming off a rack or wall. You'd leave the thing permanently attached to the single post so you would have minimal "tinkering." I think something like this is going to get snapped up by either Rogue or Rep and then modified into one of their systems... I'll probably buy the evolved version down the road... Great video! Keep up the perverted one liners!
Hey This was a great video with a lot of the right explanations for this piece of equipment. Could you tell me where you bought the piece with the carabiner that connects the plate weight stack to the Aries weight stack?
This looks like an awesome addition to any home gym. I'm interested in the leg extensions, but does it do sitting leg curls? Also nice that it tilts to do preacher curls.
Would the preacher pad word as a chest support for landline rows? I was gonna buy the new rogue chest support attachment, but it’s a (likely)$500 shipped one truck pony. I’d much rather buy this if I can get it in the right position and is strong enough to support my leaning on it and pulling a couple hundred pounds.
Unfortunately, that would exceed its weight capacity. I do a standing chest supported row that works well, but the pad isn't supporting all the weight.
I have this thing and let me tell, you can deadlift 315 but you can't deadlift this thing. IT'S THE HEAVIEST LITTLE THING YOU HAVE EVER PICKED UP. Adjusting height is super difficult, also note that on rogue racks, you might not be able to get both bolts in (as the case with me) and therefore lose some stability. Overall still a great product though but I am still getting used to setting it up for different exercises.
I love versatility, but it’s gotta be easier than that system to consistently rely on for my training. As much as I love weight training, it has to be efficient to be enjoyable. If my body is getting cold while fidgeting with accessories, it’s just not worth it to me. Kudos on showing the reality of some complications AND dangers.
Seems like a good idea to get a bunch of exercise options. For me, I think it would be too much hassle/time to set up. I also think the price is too high
Question? Can I set this up on the middle post. I have a PR-5000 with the Ares attachment. My middle post is 16” from the back post. Can I set this up on that inside post without it hitting the Ares mechanisms? Thanks for all the help and support. Great review.
Nice video. Iam debating between the titan leg curl v2 machine and the bullet proof isolator?? I have the stray dog goat with all the attachments but i think i will sell it to ether get the titan machine or isolator. Also will get squat max or rhino dont know which one yet🙄 By the way since i have 2 lower back buldging disk, i think by isolator not having back support will agreviate my back more when doing leg curls?? Been overthinking everyday forever about what to buy between the pieces above😢 money is not a problem right now, the problem is that i dont know what to buy. Lol
I'd really like to see you get your hands on some Mutant Metal gear like the UDA and their Snapback Rollers. I heard the rollers are going to have a V2 soon so maybe that's worth waiting for but MM seem like a pretty slick outfit. I've been waiting for my UDA for what feels like forever now but I'm praying it shows up soon 😂
I haven’t assembled it yet as I bought it just before moving across country try, but I bout the solo stand deluxe. Do you think this will make it a better piece having a dedicated spot?
I think it is a neat device if you have a six post rack with no weight storage or an eight post rack with weights. I don't like like to leaving rack attachments laying around on the floor because I need to use my rack.
Will you review the new REP benches too? I have the ab5200 and thought I would never change but the new one that combines the 5200 with the 5000 is interesting
@GlucksGym i'm literally watching your review on the BoS reverse hammer right now, either way if I decide to send it on something i'll be sure to use your affiliate link! I hope you and the fam arw having a great holiday season 😀
until someone makes one that is either light wrought aluminum or on wheels i'm not sold. i'm about to try ironmasters leg extension on rep bwing or i'll be switching benches because honestly i hate the weight moving it around.
@glucksgym do you know if the hexport attachment made in 2x3 can be attached to the left upright? The reason I ask is I think it has to be flipped upside down to orient in the correct position for the attachment to point inward toward the right side of the rack. Also do you know if the 2x3 version inserts on the front of the rack (2") or on the side (3")of it?
I have founded my own type of the isolator, built as extended lever arms, but as the isolator is there, no patent chance :D at least in us market.... I thought I was the first person with this idea :(
Gluck, Question : when you attached the Isolator onto the Ares rack did it “clear the Ares Cables”? Without any interference? From your video it looks like it did but I just want to make sure ? Thanks
@@GlucksGym So just to clarify, that big Isolator trolley that goes onto the Rep upright will be fit without messing up the Ares cables and only slightly touches the Ares cables that runs along the rack uprights ? Thanks
I'm at the Arnold atm but if I remember correctly (and maybe you can see this in the b rolls) on the right side it barely touches but you can't use the rear hex ports. On the left side it'll push the Ares cable a little more but the cable is touching doesn't move when attached to the low row. On a 6 post the cables would'nt be an issue when hooked up to your middle posts
What do you think? Love it or hate it?

Great review, Gluck!! When I first seen this piece of equipment a few weeks ago. I was fired up about it. I couldn’t find any reviews I really trusted but in the meantime I kind of starting thinking about all there is to set up. And storing it would def be s problem. I’m going to still process it but for right now I think there are other things I’ll buy.
Glad you enjoyed it. This one took some effort!
@@GlucksGym don’t forget an injuries in the learning curve! 🤣
That came out sooner than expected nice!
Yeah with the Arnold coming I knew I'd I didn't get it out before we leave it would get delayed a lot
¡Gracias!
😊 Thanks!
Thanks for your sacrifice! Great review.
😂 Any time
I think for this attachment you HAVE to have a MacGyver attitude about gym equipment.
Awesome review! I love your channel. Do you by any chance have a link to that list of exercises you did with it?
I tend not to share my notes because the ones I show are the ones I've edited to be UA-cam appropriate 😬
Great thorough review!
Thank you!
Really cool piece of equipment, love to see it. If it was a bit cheaper, I would very strongly consider getting one myself. Honestly with how much versatility this brings, think the price tag is pretty acceptable, but just a bit too high for me to pull the trigger
This was a great review. You took the pain for all of us. Thank you. Now I know what not to do. 😂
Yeah cams are how machines overcome that resistance profile. I debated going into that but I'm not sure people will watch it it gets technical 😂
@@GlucksGym fellow engineer here. I get it.
@@GlucksGym Hey now, I got a fine public school education, mister.
when you said you rather demo winnie on the booty exercises i audibly said "thank you brother" lol
I'm dumb but I'm not that dumb 😂
That’s a very cool attachment. I do agree with you… if I paid for that my wife would kill me and it takes some real time to adjust it and figure out the right placement.
one of the best rack attachments i own. its heavy but it love this attachment
Do you find yourself using it often? Thanks
@ honestly I actually did use it a lot But I sold my old rack (PR-4000) and the isolator. The isolator is pretty heavy.
I upgraded my Rep Fitness rack to the PR-5000. So I no longer have the isolator
@@rue2241 thanks very much. That's good to hear. wouldn't the isolator fit with the 5000 too though?
I will purchase this and I will use your link. Give me some time to save up the scrills.
Appreciate you thinking of us. It means a lot and is big for the channel 😁
I think it’s worth the money. It looks great.
12:20 🤣rip
Thanks for the comprehensive review.
Wow. This looks awesome!!
So, a jack of all trades, master of none?
Looks amazing - I would just need the space. So maybe someday.
Have fun at the Arnold!
I knew youd be here instantly 🤦♂️
Very excited!
The kinda support we need!
@@GlucksGym make sure to swing by the GGE booth and give em some love 👍🏿
@@Ice_Box_Gym definitely. That'll be one of the first we'll find
Nice!!! Needing one for my new home gym
This looks like an awesome addition to any home gym. I'm interested in the leg extensions, but does it do sitting leg curls? Also nice that it tilts to do preacher curls.
Omg the baby’s crying face was hilarious. Bwahaha
😂 I'm biased but that was my favorite part
That's a very neat piece of equipment. Too bad I already have all this at my home gym. Great piece for a beginner who doesnt have a set up yet.
@@TheCarterHomeGym appreciate the response. Just checked out one of your videos on this contraption and subscribed.
I have a goat and decided to. Uy isolator too still waiting for it. I will be just uaimg it for leg work and arm curls. Nothing else i dont think
Plan in advance, get it set to the mode where you want it for that day's workout, then the modifications can be smaller and less time consuming
Seems like a good idea to get a bunch of exercise options. For me, I think it would be too much hassle/time to set up. I also think the price is too high
Yeah, I'd probably have to dedicate most of a workout to this thing for it to make sense.
Also will get squat max or rhino dont know which one yet🙄
By the way since i have 2 lower back buldging disk, i think by isolator not having back support will agreviate my back more when doing leg curls??
Been overthinking everyday forever about what to buy between the pieces above😢 money is not a problem right now, the problem is that i dont know what to buy. Lol
I'd really like to see you get your hands on some Mutant Metal gear like the UDA and their Snapback Rollers. I heard the rollers are going to have a V2 soon so maybe that's worth waiting for but MM seem like a pretty slick outfit.
I've been waiting for my UDA for what feels like forever now but I'm praying it shows up soon 😂
I've owned their UDA for a long time. You can probably see it in some clips. Great small company
@@GlucksGym Oh I must have missed it. My bad, I'll take another look for it
@@Frandicap it doesn't have its own dedicated video but maybe someday it will
Gluck, can you review Bullet Proof's VTS? It's like a roller attachment to turn your barbell and squat rack into a smith machine.
Yes we will be reviewing it.
How does it attach to the rack? I have a elite fts 3x3 but it only has holes on the front and back of the posts, no side holes
It uses the side holes. I guess you could turn it 90 degrees but your crossmembers would get in the way
Looks like a great concept but needs some fine tuning. Great for limited spaces
Did they happen to mention a timeline of when it might be available for 5/8" holes like on the PR 4000?
You're in much, it's available for 5/8 and a ton of others gluck.fit/Isolator
@@GlucksGym That was quick!
Will you review the new REP benches too? I have the ab5200 and thought I would never change but the new one that combines the 5200 with the 5000 is interesting
Yes I plan to
Do you think this would be good for reverse hypers or would the 1k be better of spent on a dedicated reverse hyper machine
You could probably make it work but a dedicated unit will be better.
@GlucksGym i'm literally watching your review on the BoS reverse hammer right now, either way if I decide to send it on something i'll be sure to use your affiliate link! I hope you and the fam arw having a great holiday season 😀
Hello Team,
I have a question would this leg extension or can i install this on a "Kingsbox - Royal" Rack?
Gotta try that snode ad80 best all iron adjustable dumbbells on the market
Would you recommend buying a 41 deep cage vs the the 30 deep if this will stay attached most of the time?
If you have the space 41 definitely better
until someone makes one that is either light wrought aluminum or on wheels i'm not sold. i'm about to try ironmasters leg extension on rep bwing or i'll be switching benches because honestly i hate the weight moving it around.
Looks cool. But that's too much set up time/tinkering for me.
I have just over 33” on the left side of my PR-5000+Ares, do you think this will fit?
@glucksgym do you know if the hexport attachment made in 2x3 can be attached to the left upright? The reason I ask is I think it has to be flipped upside down to orient in the correct position for the attachment to point inward toward the right side of the rack. Also do you know if the 2x3 version inserts on the front of the rack (2") or on the side (3")of it?
Does the seat sag any when doing leg extensions?
would this work with my Rogue RML 3 fold back wall mount rack?
Can you use this with the ethos power rack?
I have founded my own type of the isolator, built as extended lever arms, but as the isolator is there, no patent chance :D at least in us market.... I thought I was the first person with this idea :(
Interesting ! But the length curve seems pretty awkward..
Thanks for the review !

Gluck, Question : when you attached the Isolator onto the Ares rack did it “clear the Ares Cables”? Without any interference? From your video it looks like it did but I just want to make sure ?
Thanks
No. The cable touches a little but since it's attached to the low row the cable that it touches isn't moving so there shouldn't be any wear.
Do you know if there is a way to make this work with a bells of steel 2.3”x2.3” rack?
I don't think so. You couldn't screw the pressure plates in enough on the 3x3 version and they wouldn't open enough on the 2x2/3 version
Would literally want this just for the ability to do hamstring curls
