Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Wacken Open Air (Germany) in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Following the success of Beste Zangers show, Floor performed a series of solo concerts in the Netherlands in early 2020 with songs from her entire career (After Forever, Revamp, Northward, Nightwish, Beste Zangers) following that the last and the largest concert, at AFAS Amsterdam, to be professionally recorded and broadcast online, with the support of a crowdfunding campaign. After several rescheduling, due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the concert took place at the beginning of September 2021 in 3 consecutive days. Okay guys. Good reaction overall. However, before you criticize Empuu (the guitar player), you should check out Romanticide, Ghost River, High Hopes, and a bunch more songs where the guitarist is highlighted more. The dude can play.
Plus he was just playing what the composer wrote on his solo, not making shit up as he went along like you two. Ignorance is bliss, you should look up what a musical score is and then, maybe, you can grasp the concept of how this piece was constructed. Oh maybe not. You lead me to believe it's the "maybe not".
Floor recently did a solo covert in Amsterdam and just dropped a song called, Slow, Love, Slow which is so very different but brilliant. Also recommend, if you can stand them, from this concert, a song called Ever Dream.
I'd go for older stuff like The Kinslayer or Slaying the Dreamer!

Floor Jansen is THE BEST female rock/metal vocalist ever , theres no debate .....she can sing ANYTHING , from Classical to Growling and EVERYTHING in between......if you want to hear Heavier stuff , try " Song of myself " , Romanracide, Yours is an empty hope, The Devil in the deep dark ocean " etc.
Oh BTW ....you guys were fine , i dont think anyone from the Nightwish Army will be offended ....and i hope you contjnue this journey, you guys will love them .

Just Jen is a wonderful reactor and a beautiful and inspiring woman. Nightwish does have a single called "Amaranth", which was recorded by their 2nd vocalist Annette. This is their current vocalist Floor Jansen. Pronounced like Johnson with a Y.
It’s pronounced more like if you remember “Ja Rule” that rap artist. “Ja” is pronounced as “Dja” right? So leave away the “D” in this. Bit like Jamaicans say “ Ja man”. Or more like the “a” in “car”.

Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of around four octaves +. When listening to Floor sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres, and is a Master vocal coach. She often refers to herself as a vocal nerd. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor Jansen is over six feet tall and can sing anything. There is not a better singer in any rock band out there at the moment. This is the 13th song of 15 song set all written for previous two singers and she nails them all having been with Nightwish for only ten months. The guitarist, Emppu, can shred but plays what is required for each song and isn't on an ego trip. This is really a band not just talented individuals. Yes we know all about Dimash and his range which is amazing but he has no soul. Follow what Gabriel suggests.
We are all offended a little bit, but this is our favorite band(some of us)so we might take it a little personal. Video volume was a bit low. Some funny shit. Ghost Love Score is most certainly a the Flagship track forever in every set list, and epic cinematic score, being there amongst the 80'000 people it was magical experince, that was probably the the copuious amount of alcohol consumed over that weekend 🤘😁, this insane score was designed to be a rollercoaster a gradual build. As a long time 20 year veteran of the Nightwish Army I had moments where I wanted to say guys pause, let us know, but just talking over the the music to react was hard to watch. As an adult in the real world & not knowing you guys or your style or reacting, i also had to step back fro the defensive ( its like instinct). The whole reaction wasnt bad, hell she can sing, and I can imagine Emppu the Guitarist actually enjoying your commentary. People in the NW army shouldnt be offended by the banter, Emppu is the biggest jokerster/prankster of the lot. What Nightwish are to me is a group of geniuses in thier own field and with Tuomas our Metal Mozart brings all this incredible skill & puts it together creating Symphonic Metal. They break all the rules in what is & isnt conventional muisc patterns and somehow make it work. I hope you carry on your Nightwish Journey, to be honest stick with Wacken 2013 lives for now, it was an EPIC live concert that was 15 tracks deep, take ya time & enjoy.

Funny reaction. You guys obviously are into the heavier stuff and that's no problem, cause they have a lot of songs that are way heavier than this. I'm sure Romanticide has been suggested many times, but I would suggest Weak Fantasy from Tampere 2015, Devil and the deep dark ocean from Buenos Aires, Song of myself from Wacken 2013 and many more. Do yourself a favor and stick to live performances, NW is better live than in the studio ) the only exception to that is Master Passion Greed that they never performed live because of the story behind it. It's pounding drums, chunky riffs and pure rage (vocals) made in an awesome song.
GLS is one of the "trinity songs" and so epic. Nw is very simple to explain. Take the 6 best musicians in the world, let them become friends and found a Metal band and you will have NW. A band where the music shines! So believe me telling you that Empuu is one of the best guitar players in the world and you really missed Jukka on the drums. He was replaced 2014 by Kai and he is THE machine! So, for getting an idea of him please react to WINTERSUN! I think you need to listen to Nightwish either romanticide or ghost River floor the lead singer is classically trained in opera but she goes from operatic to deep guttural growl Marco the bass player is also very well trained as well as an amazing player he since left Nightwish for health reasons and whatever I would suggest trying other live Nightwish songs to get a more feel for Monday your belt

hey @George Towles Queensryche is quite an big Number by NW Fans, although you may catch rolling Eyes mentioning Evanescence, its also liked, but the overused Comparison of Voices( often done by Recappers, not Fans) is somehow off the Line in our Eyes, Amy Lee and Floor are two different Numbers in Range, Live Quality and Breath Control at least. I get it, you mean the Bands not particualr Singers, just said.

We got a new mic 🎙 still sorting out the sound volumes. Some songs are quieter on UA-cam. We don’t hear it, we have separate volume control through each headphones.
BTW, pretty much everything else they do is much heavier and faster. A case of the wrong song imho. Never mind, you didn't stop talking long enough to listen to it much anyway lol. Try Romanticide and/or Song of Myself from the same show. Both brilliantly heavy.

We did enjoy these talented musicians very much and will definitely check out more. I just find it funny when people take everything so seriously and personal. And bash us in the very same way they think we are about this song. Which doesn’t make them any better than what we said. I’d much rather give a real and honest reaction and be ourselves than be fake and try and kiss certain fan bases butts to make them happy. Because let’s face it reactions channels get analyzed for everything and even if we would have been super serious and didn’t have any fun, we still wouldn’t please everyone.
