What monster cut the video short right there? The most moving, spine-tingling, thought-provoking part of the whole thing was just about to happen. I actually gasped that it ended like that.

This song is based on the book of the same name by Richard Dawkins about evolution and dawn of life. The brief spoken word part in the middle of the song was actually his voice. As someone mentioned below they actually had Dawkins at a different show come out on stage and deliver the closing spoken words (take directly from the book) in person.
More like inspired by the book than based.
it was the sweetest thing when dawkins talked about it, he was so nervous because hed never been in front of that many people before.
The closing words are actually from the closing of Darwin's _On the Origin of Species;_ "There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers having been originally breathed into a few forms, or into one, and that while this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, endless forms most beautiful, and most wonderful, have been, and are being, evolved"

The story of evolution is ‘ The greatest show on Earth’ that they are talking about. Unfortunately you pulled the song 2/3 of the way through including the main spoken element from Richard Dawkins whose book the song was based on which came in the next section. That may have helped you to understand it better.

Side note, there is a spoken part after the end of the song when they take their bows that is part of the song. The version in Wembley 2015 has the speaker live on stage instead of recorded. ua-cam.com/video/qrMwxe2ya5E/v-deo.html should be right before it starts.
I just love how Marko goes: "Tuomas Holopainen" with such pride and respect and Tuomas just smiles shyly lol he is amazing as he is humble :)

Marko is a vocal man god. His vocals in While her lips are still red, Endlessness, Romanticide amongst others are awesome. Not to mention Phantom of the Opera with the first Nightwish singer Tarja (pronounced Tarya).

Kai Hahto is one of the best drummers at the moment. He comes from the band Wintersun. At the moment also Jukka Koskinen plays (instead of Marco) as bass player for Nightwish. He also plays for the band Wintersun. An absolute drumming perfomence of Kai is from Wintersun 'Sons of Winter and Stars' live rehearsal at Sonic Pump Studio. Absolutely recommend this song to react. Therion, swedish band basically created symphonic metal. They started as a death metal band in 1987 and over the years changed the music into what is known as symphonic metal. Along with Nightwish they are the 2 biggest bands of this genre.

Y'all need to look up Marko Hietala, the male singer. He has a band of his own, Tarot, which he formed with his brother back in '86..... His father was a musical teacher, so music runs in his blood naturally. Add that to decades of musical experience...

one of my favourite books by dawkins interpreted by one of my favourite bands. the entire album is based on dawkins work weak fantasy being based on the god delusion and theres even references to christopher hitchens who is sorely missed.

Stuff like let it go from frozen, alone originally by Heart, Dangerous game which is from the Jekyll and Hyde musical, and many more. She also was on beste zangers which is a dutch TV show and sang Shallow (lady Gaga), Phantom of the Opera, and a lot other songs including one in Spanish and Vilja Lied is an operatic song in German if I remember correctly. Just thought I'd mention in case you aren't so into the heavier style of Nightwish but interesting in checking out more of her singing

The first band that blew my mind on Symphonic metal was Rhapsody of Fire....although they used to flow on a more classic and even baroque style of power metal. You should try some of their studio albums! Try on their classic song "land of inmortals"!
