Well thanks to your invaluable help, I changed both the front bearings on my 2006 Altima. Has 110,000 miles and was starting to growl at hiway speeds. Did the left yesterday and right today. I even went down to Harbor Freight and bought a front bearing press tool like you recommended. Worked great! I could have taken it down and had them press the bearings, but I hate to have someone do anything that I can do, cause I usually do it better. Thank you so much for taking the time to post the procedure!
gottheflick gottheflick, that's great! I learned how to do it on passenger side and then I did the video on the driver side. I'm glad the videos were a help and you were successful. Sometimes we don't know what we can do until we try. Thanks for sending the comment. I am glad to hear that I was able to help you.
Well im in for a treat i guess. Only ever replaced the headlights in my 2006 altima, so this is gonna be a real test. Thanks for the videos, gonna watch them at least three more times lol.
Good Job! Thank you. I will be doing all four wheels on a 2003 Porsche Turbo this along with about a dozen other vids will will help a lot. I've done this before a BMW's and Toyota's but it's been a while so this was a very nice refresher.
Thanks for the series. You would have an easier time with the snap ring if you used a skinny screw driver. I'm actually replacing the steering knuckle that got bent in an accident. Who would think that thing would bend and and the bearing survived.
for someone at home with no air gun or cordless gun. would it be easier to just buy the whole knuckle and replace it, without having to battle with the wheel bearing?
what is the cost difference? If you plan to spend much more to get the whole knuckle, you might be able to afford an electric impact gun and just replace the bearing. Look into it. It doesn't make sense to pay more than a bearing and tool costs. However, your way is faster and easier. That's important, so it's worth considering how much you value your time.
Taylor, Unfortunately pressing is still involved. You have to get the old bearing out of the steering knuckle (what i called the hub carrier in the video). The only thing about buying the hub and bearing assembly is that you don't have to separate the old bearing race from the hub since you will be throwing away the old hub. The new hub and bearing assembly then has to be pressed into the steering knuckle.
don't remove the speed sensor, they almost never come out in 1 piece or the blt snaps off. just disconnect the sensor at the connector under the hood at strut tower
@@MustangResto You can check, also, most of time is engine problem on the car in junkyard,so other parts is still good.I never had problem with parts from junkyard.
Once the race has move even slightly outward, use a regular gear puller. There has to be a more professional way to remove that weird snap ring. Ask a Nissan dealer service bay tech to comment here on how they do it daily?
Well I got both hubs off my 04 Altima. Now I get to either wait for a friend to help in 5 days.....or figure something else out. He has the press. I have nothing of the sort.
+Craig Davis You could take the hubs to a local auto garage and pay them to press off the old bearings and press in the new ones. They charged me $25 to do one.
My 06 Altima is the same as the 02. I'm only changing the wheel hub assembly...look up a video you will find plenty. I changed mine 2 years ago no problems yet with eBay parts.
Why are you professing to show others how to perform maintenance work on their car when you don't know what you are doing. You are just a hack with an ego
Bill, I don't profess to show others how to work in their cars, I actually do it! You're very confused about what is happening. Keep watching Bill, you might actually learn something.
MustangResto I really enjoyed your videos. They really helped me to do it myself. My dad worked on cars just like you. I learned a lot from him. Forget Bill.
Fair enough. I can absolutely understand that. Thanks for the video. On a side note, I was actually looking for a 2013+ Altima bearing replacement. Any idea how much has changed between years? I ask because the repair part for 2013+ looks like the bearing is integrated into the hub. Here's one example: www.ebay.com/itm/like/131250957833 By contrast, the 2004-2008 shows a picture of a separate bearing and hub. Any idea?
Uhm, yeah, this is not how you replace wheel bearings at all. I really hope no one references this video series for help. You are doing everyone who follows your technique a huge disservice. This is youtube garbage that you should really remove.
And exactly what is your objection? No one is interested in your baseless comments. Make a real point and then maybe we can have a discussion. But I realize that you probably don't have a real point and this is the best you can do. And by the way, this video series has hundreds of thousands of views, so lots of people disagree with you. And even better, this method works.

Yea, I just bought a whole new assembly. Thanks for the help. Saved me a lot of money.
stumpmtsr Glad to hear it.
Part 1 and 2 were REALLY USEFUL!!! Thank you a lot sir. Now my dad knows how to change it!! :)
+david garcilazo
That's great. I have Part 3 also. Help your dad change the bearing, you'll have good time.
+MustangResto Yup, I will thank you!!
you are a really good communicator
Great video. I was wondering why my mechanic wants to charge me 120 per hour to replace the wheel bearing. Now I know...

Thanks, and good luck.
+MustangResto I'm all done with my bearings. the videos are posted on my channel. you should check them out. thanks again.
+Engineerboy 100
I will. I always try to learn something from other people's videos.
Awesome, thank you, I learned from yours :)
This should be called "What Not TO Do" in replacing a bearing.
Thanks for watching Mike, it worked.
Thanks for the video. I'm about to do this job on my 04'
+Craig Davis
Good luck Craig. You can do it.
Thanks for the series. You would have an easier time with the snap ring if you used a skinny screw driver. I'm actually replacing the steering knuckle that got bent in an accident. Who would think that thing would bend and and the bearing survived.
That was my first snap ring. I can't imagine bending that piece in an accident.

You can heat up the ring and use some tool push it off, i do i too day
if i buy the hub and bearing assembly is there any pressing involved? or its just bolts?

Do you know if this same piece works on a sentra 03! I'm looking to purchase the whole assembly.
don't know. Check with the auto parts store.
don't remove the speed sensor, they almost never come out in 1 piece or the blt snaps off. just disconnect the sensor at the connector under the hood at strut tower
R Dow Now you tell me :-)
A lot of work, best way go in junkyard and remove completely hob and steering nickel and just put in ur car, much easier.
And how do you know that the junkyard part has a good bearing?
@@MustangResto You can check, also, most of time is engine problem on the car in junkyard,so other parts is still good.I never had problem with parts from junkyard.
hello how much does a mechanic normally charge for this labor on one tire
i've been told it's about $350 to change the bearing, parts included, but i don't have a written estimate.
MustangResto
That's about right. I was just quoted $375 from GoodYear...which was the cheapest quote. Others were above $400.
Once the race has move even slightly outward, use a regular gear puller.
There has to be a more professional way to remove that weird snap ring. Ask a Nissan dealer service bay tech to comment here on how they do it daily?
Why not just replace the whole assembly? They are only 35.00 at autozone for this year and model. Lol

Hahahahaha what a clown i was laughing my ass off
rent a hub tamer or similar set for free from parts store and you don't need to remove steering knuckle from car
wahaha nissan decided to put that snap ring to torture ppl
Why not just buy a whole new wheel hub for 40 bucks and replace it instead. The way you are doing it costs the same with triple the work.
The entire steering knuckle assembly costs about $180.
My 06 Altima is the same as the 02. I'm only changing the wheel hub assembly...look up a video you will find plenty. I changed mine 2 years ago no problems yet with eBay parts.
You are one hell of a ham fisted mechanic.. I would never hire you.. In fact I would fire you for your methods
Thanks Bill, but I'm not a mechanic so you can't fire or hire me. Maybe you can show us how to do it better?
Why are you professing to show others how to perform maintenance work on their car when you don't know what you are doing. You are just a hack with an ego

@Faronthefiddler
and,,, he's an asshole!
$50 or $60 for a hub? Buy it. My time isn't worth $50-$60 to fool with that for hours on end.
ShawnMichael121277 HaHa. Yes, I get it. But this is what I do for fun.
