I can’t believe it’s been 10 years, Jimmy. We miss you
I came here to say this but in my heart, I knew someone did already. Bless you 😭🖤 I just can't process 10 years without this beautiful human playing for an amazing band
So much
But who is Jimmy
@@stormsumeet Avenged Sevenfold‘s original Drummer. He passed in 2009 at 28 years old.
@@stormsumeet bruh
I found Avenged Sevenfold after Jimmy was already gone, and for the longest time, I didn't even know what this song was about. Now I know. I admit I don't know anything about him aside form his name, but if this song is anything to go by he seems like an incredible man.
I raise my glass to you, man. Rock on.
He was the drummer for the band pre Nightmare, and helped write several of the songs. He also did co-lead vocals for several of the white album's songs such asCritical Acclaim, Lost, and A Little Piece of Heaven. Some of the band members had known him since grade school.
Video of him is shown in the So Far Away video if you'd like to take a look. But it is also one of their saddest songs.
I found them after hos death too
@D Zuke Wasn't he going to die anyway from Cardiomegaly? The song Bromptain Cocktail on the White Album kind of explains it all if you listen to it. He ended it.
He was an amazing singer and drummer he could smile laugh and scream at the same time and one of the band members even said there were no bad times with Jimmy so R.I.P Jimmy
I found them after as well and I only heared this song when the diamonds in the rough album came out
got a cider right here and I am simply toasting into the empty darkness of my room at 12:30 AM, only the rev could make this a sane thing to do so I raise a glass to you brother, you may be dead in body and mind but your spirit lives on in each and everyone of us so I will say again let us ALL raise a glass to our St James
+midget manmidge All I have to toast right now is water. Hope the Rev accepts it
are st. james from this song Rev? I did`nt know!
Ian de Barros the revs real name was James Owen Sullivan so St. James
+Midge217 thanks, I did`nt know it
and there is already a song called St.Jimmy by green day so st james it is
Accidentally listened to this song which shares the same name as another song a friend suggested. so glad I got the wrong song.
Ben Halliday A wonderful accident, if I do say so myself.
Even better of a mistake than me.
Nine Mars lmfaoooo
Ben Halliday
What was the original band? Or artist to be more specific.
there are no mistakes only happy little accidents
"St James is the light of So Far Away's Dark" Avenged Sevenfold says :D foREVer
@lil yeet u need to learn english or have some common sense
@@christian_clark Don't poke your nose in every thing. Mind your own fucking business. Did someone ask about your opinion? You are one of those that likes to roast people but it ain't gonna work for me Bitch!!
@@kikru5542 yet you stuck your nose into someone else's business. Hypocrisy is strong with this one!
Oof
@@justingrizzard1477 May God bless your troubled life my son.
Drinking my whiskey for one of the greatest humans to ever live. Thanks Jimmy.
Never heard this song until now. Beautiful.
Me too.
I have no idea what this song is about and it isn’t even slow but I just had a wave of emotion when listening to this. I don’t even cry that much but this is amazing
They need to perform this live.
Yes they do
+Matthew Mcsherry it sadly will most likely never happen... this song has too much emotion tied to it for them, they probably wouldn't be able to finish it. they struggle to finish fiction live, yet alone this...
+Ben Swaggernathy they preformed both when i saw them live ;)
+Matthew Mcsherry should be the opening song at every show
+Alexander Omdal they played this live?!
"On the sea by the cliffs he waits the night to see the day, his way. Last call will find us all but there's a light that leads the way. Our way." A tear always fall from my eye every time I see hear this.
Today is the 28th of December 😢 Rest in peace Jimmy
I forget :'( 4REVer
Stinky Bacon today is his bday
Mike Edson damn the feels man😭
Who's Jimmy?
@@SunajVon he was the drummer to this band before he died. Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan.
This makes me want to cry every time I listen to it.
TheSamuraiApocalypse same like I don't cry when I think of the rev but it's just such a well written beutiful song that it makes you wanna cry a little bit.
SO MUCH....
Same brother
Same.
The song resonates, because we all know a St. James. There's a little of Rev in all of us. We all carry his cross now. It's the least we can do.
3:24 - 4:05 gives me goosebumps every time!
3:45 is where the goosebumps hit 😭
This is the story of a man
Who conquered life drink in hand
Ship unmanned
Marked by genius, channelled good
By some a bit misunderstood
They'd been wrong many times before
Some times our saints are sinners
They blur the lines and lead the way
Their Way
Raise hell and a glass in reverence
The fearless lives of our great saints - our saints
Never a stranger to late night snake
Bite fist fights and empty pints
Unrivaled heights
He led with songs, they sang along
Created bonds that held so strong
Some were right and some were wrong
Some times our saints are sinners
They blur the lines and lead the way
Their Way
Raise hell and a glass in reverence
The fearless lives of our great saints - our saints
[Solo]
It's by the sea and at night's end that's when the sin and swill begin
That's when he had that certain light inside his head
For every whisper he would scream for every draught he shared a drink
For every sorrow there is a light from our St. James
On the sea by the cliffs he watches, he waits the night to see
The day - his way
Last call will find us all
But there's a light that leads the way, our way
Some times our saints are sinners
They blur the lines and lead the way
Their Way
Raise hell and a glass in reverence
The fearless lives of our great saints - our saints
its a lyric video....why erading it in comments when you can read it up in the video
@@ChrisBeYT So that
I became a drummer to follow the inspiration of one man and he bears one name but is known to many as the rev and shall rest in piece
peace* sorry but i just had to
Jm Schulze Maybe it's a reference to Megadeth's Rust in Pieces.
foREVer
Good for u man
The best song from Hail to the King, and it wasn't even on the main album.
11) Planets
10) This Means War
9) Crimson Day
8) Doing Time
7) Acid Rain
6) Requiem
5) Hail to the King
4) Heretic
3) St. James
2) Coming Home
1) Shepard of Fire
Tim Ralls some copies. i have a copy and St. James is not included in the mix. kinda sucks, right?
It's only included on the deluxe version, if I'm not mistaken.
Tim: God of Time I thought it was a iTunes exclusive but I might be wrong.
Tim: God of Time hail to the king had some really cool and underrated songs like heretic, coming home (one of the sickest solos a7x has), st james and acid raid.
They need to write a song called Knife Master
Amonstar 12 YES.
YES!!!!!! SO MUCH YES!!!!
They need to disappear into the woods first.... after getting off a bus of sorts
Amonstar 12 YEEE
They need to disappear into the studio forever and never come back, BUT WHEN THEY DO THEY NEED TO MAKE A SONG CALLED KNIFE MASTER
I knew from the start this song had a very valuable meaning, it wasn't until I realized that I felt something, something that just connected me to this song, the spirit of The Rev is watching over all of us right now, we miss you James, and someday, we will all reunite in heaven, the Rev may be dead in form, but never dead in thought or passion, James, you will always be missed by all of us, we supported you till your last day and we will continue, this song closes the distance between us and you St. James, this brings closure to us all knowing that you're still hear with us, among us, and I bet you have a bear in hand right now, kicked back and relaxing hearing this amazing song about you man, you will be loved forever and miss terribly, its a shame to see that you left us so early. The Rev that we once know will be The Rev that we will always know, relax in peace you big shithead, you have been such an idol for many people, its time for you to relax and one day, one day we will all meet again, until that day comes, I just wanna say farewell my friend, this may be goodbye for now, but never forever
Just found this comment, started crying a bit reading it lol, james is one of my favorite drummers of all time to this day! He will be remember every day in the heart of every a7x fan!
if he was alive the band would have gone soo far, but its so nice to see they come back strong! with awesome albums... thats what jimmy would like to see from heaven!
Nightmare was good because Jimmy recorded a couple before he died and Mike portnoy played them like a God but hail to the king was not very good. It was OK if you weren't fans until nightmare and haven't listened to any other albums
Yeah Hail to the King is my least favorite album, its good but doesn't compare to the others my favortes are
1) City of Evil
2) Waking the Fallen
3) Nightmare
4) Avenged Sevenfold
5) Sounding the Seventh Trumpet
6) Diamonds in the Rough
7) Hail to the King
pumpk1nh3ad00 im a BIG fan i have heard ALL their music, and i think this is a very good album, althought city of evil is def. my favorite
hail to the king made me really like em
I've listened to every album to date. I have the words of the songs from Avenged Sevenfold, City of Evil, Nightmare, this one and most of the other songs from the other albums memorized. ALL of their albums are amazing, and while everyone's personal taste will rank some higher than others, to call any of them bad is ridiculous.
this song never lets me down, with that being said, "The Rev" will never be forgotten.. not ever
even though he has been dead for years, I just put my statement to the test
This is beautiful. This is music. When do you ever hear music in the charts that really have a meaning? Very rarely. This song, along with So Far Away, are so touching. On the 28th December, I shall light a candle to my hero, my inspiration and light. My St James FoREVer x
Cheers, Rev!! 🍻 hope my great grandma is wherever you are watching over you and Chester
Toast to The Rev 🍻
toast 🍻
Eric draven fuck yeah toast

A toast :)

foREVer.
I was not a fan of A7X when The Rev died. I was only in year one (1st grade)
Somehow, despite this, I miss him. Love ya, Jimmy, you inspire me to this day.
+Nick's Drumming I feel exactly the same way. Found this band late, but I still miss him
I've know this band since 2007, I even remember when The Rev died
I feel ya, I discovered this band in 2015 so I was way late and I miss the Rev and cried when I heard so far away #foREVer
Been a fan since I was 14 in 2002. 2nd album in. Let me tell you, I bawled when I found out he passed away. Ugly cried, snots and all..it was like i lost a member from my family and in a way, it kinda was. the tour they had when Jimmy passed away for their album, I saw them and hearing his voice but not seeing him hurt like hell. i sang and screamed and cried til my lungs were sore and lost my voice. to some it just a band but to others..cant even explain.
I wasn't a fan until Nightmare came out, so pretty much right after his death. I knew that he died, but it didn't impact me sine I had just discovered the band. After I became a big fan, it just kinda struck me that The Rev wasn't alive. It was a weird feeling.
what a beautiful fucking song, one of the best guitar solos for A7X imo, doesn't do too much yet adds so much to the emotion of the song.
With this they are saying "We are finally at peace. Wait for us, Jimmy. "
+David Bowie sama sensei senpai san sama kun Dude....your comment gave me chills...
"'Cause when i'm done i'll be on my way
To live eternaly"
That's what they say in "So far away" so exactly
And let the tears flow 😭😭😭
The lyrics so perfectly fit with my friend Sarge (Christopher Sargeant) he died January 24th 2022 I miss him dearly as does all of Bournemouth. Goodnight Sarge, what I'd give for one more hug man
this song is just so beautiful. i love it so much.
+Chaos Killer you ain't alone i love it so much too :P
This song needs to be put on Spotify. It's an absolutely amazing song.
Jimmy James Owen Sullivan (28/12/2009 RIP)
Nonam V thx
I dedicate this song to one of my best friends Clayton rushing... gone to soon man I love and miss you bro I’ve couldn’t of have asked for a better friend... St.Clay 🎸
I love how this song is more upbeat and exciting than so far away. He would have wanted this.
So far away wasn't written for him. It was only dedicated to him, they completely finished Nightmare three days before he died
so far away cannot be compared to this.....so far away is FOR him. this is ABOUT him
so far away was meant for syn's grandfather, but then the rev died, so he dedicated it to him
So far away was written as a goodbye st James was written more light hearted more like a celebratory song for him
It's a thank you for st James himself
Rest in peace with a drink in you're hand Jimmy!
i like this song more than so far away bc so far away was created out of pure emotion where this captures the true essence of the rev
RIP Jimmy Sullivan

BaurustheCow St. James will be remembered!!!

It goes....
Hush little death bat, don't you cry, Jimmy's gonna drum up in the sky, and when it rains just know this dear, jimmy doesn't like seeing all those tears
Aww
Hell yea.
:')
That is fucking rad!
When i have a son thats his new laluby
a7x should make a beer called st. james
oldGnRrocks1 nah whiskey but still alcohol so good idea
@@dave-sr1wb why not both? Metallica has both whiskey and a beer
oldGnRrocks1 not a bad name.
Whiskey = St. James, Beer = Knife Master or vise versa
Or stallion Duck
I do wish he'd never gone, but what a sendoff...Beautiful music, and a toast to you Jimmy :-)
I swear the first 20 seconds of this sounds like a fricken Bud Light commercial or something
Jimmy always wanted to be a bartender:)
Its a canned Guiness. You can hear the widget
Zombie Wobbie that's the point....
" I poured paint all over the bar counter, I thought they were going to fire me."
more like Guinness
happy bday brother. we love you. you were our brother to us all even if we wasn't blood.
+Synyster he'll always be my brother
It’s been exactly 9 years. we miss you. foREVer
I can't wait for whatever their next album will be!
How did you like it?
Ethan Ruiz yeah my exact thought
What did you think of The Stage?
You should have turned 34 today, we miss you jimmy 😔❤️
When I wrote the comment it was his bday
+lindaholmberg sadly jimmy had a deceise that made his heart bigger than normal and people with this died around 30-32 years old with a paintfull death that why jimmy killed himself so he wont suffer .. R.I.P buddy :(
+Jodoin Maxime he died from a drug overdose... not because he wanted to die.. it was an accident
MadMikegamingTv isn't it a coincidense that all the drugs in his body is the ingredients of a brompron cocktail, which people take to die, plus he wrote a song about the cocktail
Hosetingen fake news M. Shadows wrote Brompton Cocktail
This is my new favourite song.
Finally coming to Spotify!!
I'll never understand why this song is not on the main album.
Darkaraz it could have been played after coming home am i right???
You are not right at all
Its meant to be exclusive. Not a regular song.
Title: St. James (James owen sullivan) tribute to jimmy "the rev" sullivan
Allison Clarke every album they have a song for jimmy, althugh so far away is the main song yes.
Allison Clarke So far away wasent the only tribute, they literally said that this song was written for Jimmy. They named the damn song after him.
Allison Clarke yeah, 2 comments is a bunch of hate.
Allison Clarke did i say it was hate? no i didnt, all i did was correct your statement, its not meant to hate, so calm down, its to add to what you may or may not already no.
Unguided Reaper they directly said that Saint James was the direct tribute to The Rev, and "being a dick to a girl" what did i say that made me a dick to a girl?
This song reminds me of the good ole days when all of the townsfolk used to gather around in the Hall, drink mead, fight, and most importantly have a good time. Ah, I miss those days.
been a fan since their first album. and this is now my favorite song after hearing it 10 hours ago
This band has gotten me through some dark times lately. Thank you so much.
This song is honestly so motivational! Like honestly, this is the sort of music you would expect on some sort of motivational or workout video. I swear whenever I listen to this song I feel like I can take on the world and what makes this even better is that this song reminds me of Jimmy (I'm pretty sure this song is about jimmy) which just makes it all the better. R.I.P Jimmy we all miss you ❤❤❤. Rest easy Knifemaster
RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan
We love ya man!
Why did you have to leave us so early Jimmy:( we all fucking miss you legend:'(
10 years without u Rev,we miss u
I’ve never seen my dad headband and cry at the same time. But this song reminds him so much of our friend we lost due to alcoholism and of course drugs. Thank you A7X. Thank you
Rest in piece Jimmy, you were a great part of sevenfold.
He still is
+Junior JC bro "jimmy" is dead
+Michael Miller No, he's gone into the woods, and he'll never come back, BUT WHEN HE COMES BACK, HE'LL BE THE KNIFE MASTER!
In all seriousness, he's still an important part of Avenged Sevenfold.
10 years now... foREVer
It’s songs like this that inspire me to want to become a musician
Drinking pints of Guinness for you today Jimmy. RIP brother.
Jimmy and Arin are my influences on drums. Rest in peace, jimmy!
I love the beginning when they where doing the ohhhh ohhhh.
But I still love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite part is when they say what he means to the band like for every sorrow there's a light from our st. James
Next week will be 10 years since losing my dad and this song always makes me think of him. I know it was made for the rev but it describes my dad so well
Even after all this time you can FEEL how much love they have for James
Am I the only one who actually finds this song MORE sad than Lost It All even though its a celebration of his life?
Umm lost it alls not sad
10 goddamn years. First drink’s for the Saint
First time hearing this song! Such a beautiful piece. Wish I discovered it earlier. I love the progressive riff, reminds me of Lost, as well as The Stage album itself.
Rip Jimmy the Rev. St James. Gone 10 years but never forgotten. ❤💔❤
R.I.P to the rev
God clearly hates us for taking this amazing man away we will miss you Jimmy
GOD HATES US, GOD HATES US ALL!!!!
ha you got it fuck yeah
Anon Anon Sweet other people understand, I have to explain it to everyone I know.
Nah god wanted the rev so he could teach him some drum lessons
He fucking hates us he fucking hates us all!
Bro I have this on repeat cos Spotify sucks 💔 we miss you Jimmy. 10 years on and you're always remembered 🖤🖤🖤
It’s almost been a decade since jimmy passed time sure does fly but the band has kept itself together I bet he’s proud up above
Already 10 Years ago, rest in peace Jimmy
