I've a fan of metal and playing guitar since about 1975, and I have to say this is one of my all time fave modern metal songs. Its just beautifully written and constructed. The guitar solo should be taught as metal soloing 101. It's not just a bunch of tricks, riffs and runs that seem to permeate so much of metal guitar these days. It is melodic and has parts you can sing. it has sections and tells a story. The breakdown after the solo just kicks ass. A7X is not a copy of any other band. They have carved out their own unique sound and style.
Totally with you on everything. I was hooked to Buried Alive when I still didn't knew and listened much about the band. After a few days it became an anthem to me. Nostalgic, beautifully haunting, and technically driven, without being too tricky or intricate. In a few months I knew I was in for the long ride with A7X.
I'll never forget the first time I seen Avenged it was April 19th, 2008 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada at the Corral center. I'm 42 now and feel closer to their music then ever before. Love you guys and please never stop cranking it out.
Saw them in Milan, Italy back in 2013 and I'm 46 now. I cried a river with this album, it got out right around the period my life turned from the happiest to the darkest it had ever been almost in a while

The intro to thing song has so much emotion in the chords, it's one of my favorite guitar parts of all time. A moment of desperation, a cry for help, a late apology, and acceptance of defeat. These are messages those chords speak to me, and the thoughts that I feel when Im thinking about this song. I wish I could fold, to concede and give up the hand life dealt me.

I had a really tough childhood and the first part of this song, feels to me like the rollercoaster of abuse from my stepfather and me ligering to hope: "I walked the fields through the fire... Taking steps until I found solid ground" Still every year I was losing family members and everyday I found myself buried in sorrow and despair. I couldn't maintain a sigle friendship as I had to become an adult... way too early... way too young... Taking care of my mother that would fall in depression frequently due to my stepfather's abuse, leaving me alone to handle it by myself. And you know what got me through it? What got me through it was what the second part of this song represents: hatred. Everyday I hated him and this fucking world and this is what kept me standing during those years, even with death calling my name. I’m only 17. I have been through a very rough time figuring out my life, school, and knowing what I want to do for my life. I’ve been seriously scared and believed that I wouldn’t make it at all through life until I figured all of it out now. When I heard this song for the first time, it was like I found something that truly understand how I feel. At first believing everything was okay and I still had time but still had that feeling I was scared, losing hope as time slowly passes away and being more frightened of my future and felt like I needed a solution then and now. Then when he had the Voice tell him to lose all hope, he accepted that and let himself just sink away and let himself be “buried alive”. This is the first time I’ve ever heard something that actually understand every single feeling that I’ve felt in the moment in my entire life. This song made me love music. Not the same kind that a fan of only a specific genre would have. Actually LOVE music. Now I want to pursue it in anyway I can so I could at the very least have one person feel the same way through it as well. Everyone always talks about Synyster Gates solos (i love them all) but something that catches my attention on almost all of A7X songs is the Rhythmic guitar riffs. To me they have some of the best rhythmic guitar riffs, my favorite being the one from Burried Alive that starts at 3:58 (i love it so much i made the instrumental my ringtone)!

This song is everything to me. I had a really tough childhood and the first part of this song, feels to me like the rollercoaster of abuse from my stepfather and me ligering to hope: "I walked the fields through the fire... Taking steps until I found solid ground" Still every year I was losing family members and everyday I found myself buried in sorrow and despair. I couldn't maintain a sigle friendship as I had to become an adult... way too early... way too young... Taking care of my mother that would fall in depression frequently due to my stepfather's abuse, leaving me alone to handle it by myself.
And you know what got me through it? What got me through it was what the second part of this song represents: hatred. Everyday I hated him and this fucking world and this is what kept me standing during those years, even with death calling my name.
Now I see my stepfather being charged by life, losing everything, my mother divorsed him and now this is his life: die. buried. alive (what's it feel like?) sucker.

I’m only 17. I have been through a very rough time figuring out my life, school, and knowing what I want to do for my life. I’ve been seriously scared and believed that I wouldn’t make it at all through life until I figured all of it out now. When I heard this song for the first time, it was like I found something that truly understand how I feel.
At first believing everything was okay and I still had time but still had that feeling I was scared, losing hope as time slowly passes away and being more frightened of my future and felt like I needed a solution then and now. Then when he had the Voice tell him to lose all hope, he accepted that and let himself just sink away and let himself be “buried alive”.
This is the first time I’ve ever heard something that actually understand every single feeling that I’ve felt in the moment in my entire life.
This song made me love music. Not the same kind that a fan of only a specific genre would have. Actually LOVE music. Now I want to pursue it in anyway I can so I could at the very least have one person feel the same way through it as well. I know that Avenged Sevenfold isn’t the literal best metal artist of all time for the World, but to me they will always feel that way to me.

Everyone always talks about Synyster Gates solos (i love them all) but something that catches my attention on almost all of A7X songs is the Rhythmic guitar riffs. To me they have some of the best rhythmic guitar riffs, my favorite being the one from Burried Alive that starts at 3:58 (i love it so much i made the instrumental my ringtone)!
