Thanks, Susan! I am so glad you enjoy them! It's fun for me to put together too because by the end of the month, I often forget the first deals I grabbed at the beginning of the month! 😂
I too went over budget in August. The main reason for it was that in the 3 summer months, I had spent over $300 for produce for canning and freezing, so it really affected my monthly grocery budget. (I put up over 100 quarts of fruit in those 3 months, which I’m excited about. Woohoo!!!). I may need to have a separate budget for that for next summer? Still thinking that one through. We are a family of 4 (2 teens, 2 adults, plus a large dog), trying to get our budget down to $500mo. Thanks so much for the inspiration! I love your videos, which motivate me to keep trying!
Way to can! 🙌 That is amazing and totally worth the extra expense and time to stock your pantry with freshly canned things. And I like the idea of summer produce / canning budget, especially if you want to do that every summer. Smart idea! Thanks for joining me here to watch these videos. I am glad I can be an encouragement to you!
Love going store brands as much as possible. There are very few things I go for on name brand. Your clearance is so great. I do wish ours was that good.
It is really hit and miss clearance wise for me. Certain Krogers are better than others, and I have learned it depends on the time of day I shop too. If I go too early in the morning, the stores haven't marked things down yet - at least by me. But I always look every time just to see what I might find! 😊
You did really well with your budget since you bought all that hamburger! This really helps me to not feel too bad if I go over to stock up on good deals! Thanks again for all you do!
I am really enjoying the ground pork from Aldi. I don't know if it's the same everywhere, but ours is very lean (in fact you have to put a little olive or avocado oil in the pan to brown it or it will stick) and so tasty. Very mild. I am using it in some recipes that I used to make with hamburger. Aldi has it on sale quite often and in our area it's $3.49 a pound when it's on sale. Tonight I boiled up some penne pasta, browned the pork with some onion chopped very fine, and then added chili powder, garlic, salt, pepper, about 1/4 cup tomato paste, 1 /12 C beef broth (made inexpensively with bullion) and let that cook down a bit and then threw in half a block of cream cheese (sour cream would have worked as well) and mixed that up until it was incorporated all through, added the boiled pasta and mixed everything together and it made the most delicious inexpensive one pot meal in about 20 minutes. 4 good-sized portions. Served it with some grated cheese on top, broccoli, and some bread that was going dry toasted under the broiler.
That sounds delicious! I haven't tried Aldi's pork but our Kroger pork is priced similarly and I used to buy it regularly - until we bought half a Hog this summer, so I have a variety of ground pork and other pork cuts that way. But I will have to keep an eye at the Aldi prices when this pork is gone!
Hope you had a great day ❤️ school goin well for you guys thank you for your prayers I've got go see specialist next week I'm sure it's going to be ok Jesus is with me 🙏🙏🙏
Great shopping Kristen! Especially the ground beef and chocolate. Very much worth going over budget! Our grocery budget came in under $28 but our gasoline budget was over $30. Hoping for some good September sales. Thanks for inspiring and sharing!
Awesome job Kristen! Feeding a family of 6 and extras for that amount is totally amazing. Anyone who is annoyed at rising grocery prices should watch your videos! I like getting reduced pricing on organic or thinly sliced chicken because I normally don’t buy it because it’s expensive.
Awww. Thank you for that encouragement! 😊 And yes! I am with you. Any time I can find a sale or mark down on meat, those are the best deals to snatch up!

Fruit and veggies come from this budget but we eat a variety of fresh, frozen and canned so the fresh you see but the canned and frozen I have bought at other times. Cheese freezes great! However, since it lasts so long in the fridge and we use it regularly, I typically keep it in the back of my fridge until I need it. But here are some tips and tricks to freezing cheese. joyfullythriving.com/freezer-tricks-onion-bundles-grated-cheese/
Good question! Yes, eating out is a separate budget category. I am not a coffee person but so pay $3.99 a month for my Panera Sip Club membership for my Lime Bubly Sparkling Water. 😁
How about the sugar for all that jam? I didn't see a lot of vegetables - potatoes, onions, etc? I guess you have those items elsewhere. I really enjoy your videos - so helpful! I like how you don't depend only on coupons.
I tend to Stockpile bought most of my sugar for the year last holiday season. Still working through it so had plenty for jam! And potatoes and onions I bought a ton of when they were $1 at Meijer last month. But good questions!
@@joyfullythriving Now that I've watched several of your shows, I realize that what you buy in one month might not be all of what you actually EAT for that month because you have other items squirreled away, or in the freezer, etc. I should have taken this comment off once I watched the other videos and understood your process of buying on sale and stockpiling. I'm pas the age of raising children and we don't actually do all that much grocery shopping now for just the two of us - and we live pretty simply - but I am definitely going to be sharing your tips and system with my daughter. You are SO GENEROUS to share so much of your hard work with others!
Ok..In 1 mo you bought 3 soy sauce?..Cleaners & non-edibles I would list separately..Too many chips/need more healthier snacks..What do u make for dinners? I saw chicken..Casseroles?? Meatless??>
The chips she said were for school lunches - and a few chips won't hurt kids. I think she has lots of recipes and I asked also what about the missing items - but now that I see her stockpiling system, I realize she has lots of the items she did not buy already saved because she has bought them on prior times. Obviously, this is the time when little containers of applesauce, chips, and other things parents put in school lunches are what is on sale - so she is buying up those items. And, remember, kids don't eat what they don't like - so a parent can put whatever he or she wants in a school lunch, but the kids will either throw it away or bring it back home if they don't like it. (I know - I'm a retired teacher.)
Yes, the soy sauces was unusual and definitely not typical. Some people do list cleaning supplies and toiletries separate but since I buy most of these things at grocery stores, it is easier for me to group them together. Chips are for my kids lunches which I pack every day. And we eat meat daily at dinner but that comes from my freezer which I stock when meat goes on sale. Hope that helps clarify!
As a teacher myself, yes! It always frustrates me to see so much food thrown away. So we stick to a half a sandwich (or cheese and crackers), an applesauce or peach cup, chips or pretzels and a cookie for lunch. It's simple but I know my kids will eat it!
I always enjoy your “monthly recap” video. You got some great deals last month!

We never get deals like that in my town in Quebec, Canada.
I am sorry. 🙄 I know Canadian prices can be much higher than our American ones. 😩
