These vented hoods are perfect for guys like myself running top mounted turbos. These vents work amazing. Especially in hot climate (Australia)
If there is ever anything that's considered automotive asmr, you removing those plastic clips with that tool would be a good start.
These are really effective for folks at the track, but utterly useless for those who daily. Still, Verus makes quality stuff
Not if you live here in AZ, im sure you could benefit from having these! Plus it helps with pressure release at high speed.
@@buddybestor lol this car doesn't need pressure release "at high speeds" because it will never truly benefit from that. Now as for heat management in AZ, for sure, I could see that being useful since it get's insanely hot there.
@@mr.wiggles7535 No, it definitely has built-up pressure! I know for a fact because I was coming from California to AZ...going 140mph for about a full minute, and the front of the hood looked like it was about to lift off (fluttering). What do you think all the air going thru the radiator is doing?...no it's not all going to escape from underneath. That's why you need to release the pressure and give the air more routes to escape. Haven't you stuck your hand out the window? Even at 70mph you feel a lot of pressure.
@@buddybestor My hood flutters going 60mph. That's just the product of it being aluminum. You don't need that kind of pressure release on the street. Let along going 140mph on a public road like a jackass. Also, who the fuck has enough roadstrip to get this car to 140mph? O_o
@@mr.wiggles7535 It's cause I'm faster than YOU! 🤣I'm far from stock so I don't really need that much road...BRAH, why you gotta be so BETA? GOT TO BE ALPHA!
The hood insulation you removed... Why is it there in the first place? Does it actually do anything useful prior to vent installation?
Also, those are kind of ugly vents. Much rather basically ANY replacement bonnet with vents already in it.
It's used for sound deadening, heat resistance and it's a fire blanket. Most aftermarket hoods are actually heavier than the OEM hood because it's already aluminum.
@@KevinVo Heat resistance to protect the paint? Guess I’ll leave mine on then until I go carbon.
@@PAPO1990 it's really mainly for sound deadening.
@@KevinVo I’m really just a bit paranoid about my paint, who cares if more noise comes out the bonnet...
@@PAPO1990 yes that's why I said it's mainly for sound deadening. Removing it won't be detrimental to your paint.
I feel like this is in response to Smeedia's failed install lol
If he would've checked out the video I released on my personal channel a week ago he would've been good 😅
Any chance on installing Aero catch hood pins. I know my hood needs them, but would love a custom video on installing them on my FR-S. Mine is just daily, but I notice a ripple at high speeds or high winds.
Same here!
I've been thinking of getting some type of vents for my hood
Quick question unrelated to this video. Are your guys ft86 speed factory unequal length headers California legal? I'm 99% sure they are just wanted to make sure
No
@@TimurIskhodzhanov they aren't? They are catted so why not? Do you know any headers that are cali legal?
@@Yiffin84 I think any non oem exhaust is illegal in Cali, (am not from Cali)
Whoever designed that has no taste like wtf.
Function>Form
@@KevinVo it looks like they're all in front of the engine, though? for function they should've placed it behind, or at least closer to the back.
@@ulamss5 im pretty sure the very well know engineers know what they're doing bro 😂👍
I think the design is fine. Just the placement is little bit unsettling.
considerations of putting the vent on the front portion transversally like that are first to pull the hot air from the radiator and from the engine which sit transversally, and second to match the rib structure of the hood.
Functionalality and and aesthetic can work together but too bad it seems they don't really mean to go that far.
@@ulamss5 they point is to get hot air from the rad out
Whats the thing above the Toyota badge?
Go pro mount, it's a bracet you can put a camera (most likely go pro) to film, it's just double taped on there
Apparently installing hoodvents grows out your hair too.
I know a youtuber who could of use this tutorial maybe a week ago. Poor guy Installed them the wrong way
We all make mistakes 😅
🔥🔥🔥
How about sealant on the fresh cutted surface?!
Lawdy I don't think i could cut my hood like that
Actually doesn’t seem that difficult to do ..
So about $300 for the vents and the rain guard... and you screw up your OEM hood. I'll pass big time on this. And what if water gets on the side cracks of the vents? You will start getting rust since you cut the hood and bare metal is out.
This is purely a functional modification. If you don't need it, don't buy it. The hood is made out of aluminum so no you won't start getting rust. Rain really isn't a problem for modern engines. Do you not drive your car in the rain?
@@FTspeed Yes... but my car along with all modern cars are painted and protected with a clear coat. When you drill into the metal you remove the paint and that protection coat.
@@fl21289 like mentioned above, the hood is made out of aluminum so rust is not an issue and even if that weren't the case, you can very easily apply touch up paint to protect the edges that are exposed 🙂
A little research on aluminum oxide (essentially aluminum rust) would do you some good. It's essentially self protecting. Ask any welder who's familiar with AC welding. 🤙
it's aluminum.... it won´t and can't rust... but your paint could peal away, it could get water inbetween the clear coat where the cuts are made and peal it off, that's only issue you're more likely to run into after few years but rusting is not going to be issue
Didn't even paint the bare metal.
Doesn't need to be painted.
@@KevinVo yup, the hood is aluminium
