definitely taking my car to a shop for this
It's not all that bad! Measuring and placement of the template are the hardest part.
Dude stop being lazy! You can do it. I did it on my 2005 Pontiac GTO.
I would suggest some mess wire or plastic screen be installed on the under side to keep debris from falling into engine bay. When I installed mine, I made a simple shallow tray out of thin aluminum that mounted to existing bolts on louvers , then drilled and routed a line to drain any water caused by washing car or sitting in rainy weather.
We already offer rain guards for most of our hood louver kits. Debris falling inside the engine bay isn't really a problem per se, as most cars that run hood louver kits are race cars or cars that aren't driven every day.
Very nice looking...advice, paint with a good rust preventitive paint all areas that are cut or drilled or rust will start if steel hood
For sure!
I know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an instagram account..?
I somehow lost my password. I would love any tips you can give me.
@Creed Riley Instablaster :)
@Karter Ignacio I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and Im trying it out now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Karter Ignacio It worked and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my account !
I’m looking to add vents to my Mustang will I have any problems when it rains or when I wash it?
No, apart from getting water in your engine bay. If you are worried about water, we suggest going with the S550 Non-GT Spec Units.
What’s the diff between the GT Spec and the regular S550 kit besides the $10 price?
The GT-Spec Units are larger.
awesome job
Thank you!
Hello Sir. does water get in from the vents to the motor when it is raining ? thank you
Yes, but due to the fact that all components inside the engine bay are sealed water tight, it is not something to worry about. However, if it does worry you, I would suggest going with a set of our hood louvers that we offer rain guards for.
@@VerusEngineering can you send me a link please of the set

I'm thinking about buy some hood louvers from you guys, but shouldn't you paint and prime the edges afterwards so that the hood doesn't begin to rust now ??
The hood in this video is aluminum so it will not rust.
Only watched this through because of the mr2
haha nice!
What about water into the engine?
We offer rain guards for almost all of our hood louvers. We do not run rain guards on any of our shop cars and we have not seen any issues with water inside the engine bay.
@@VerusEngineering does rust count? .., good to know. Iwant to make a vent over my headers cause of the heat but i wasnt sure what would happen in the rain,or if the water gets into the altenator. Thx for the info
@@ghostwarhammer007 Not sure what you mean by, "Does rust count?" Honestly, we have never ran rain guards on any of our shops cars and they have sat outside during multiple hard downpours and we have seen no issue with any of our cars. The rain guards do not block all water from coming in, they simply channel the water in one direction.
@@VerusEngineering thankyou., I thought if water got into the vechical while running something would malfunction. Or waterdamage/rust. But again thankyou.
@@ghostwarhammer007 Nope. Everything inside the engine bay is watertight from the factory, so it is not a big issue.
Helloo, how to make it waterproof
You would have to fabricate something for this exact hood louver kit, but even then it would not be 100% waterproof. However, we offer various other hood louvers kits that offer supplementary rain guards.
What are the dimensions of the vents
Dimensions are available on the product page on our website.
If you worked in any real body shop you would know or include some sort of " Rust proofing method " . As you know since you cut into the hood and exposed the bare metal it almost instantly starts to breakdown even though you cant see it... I would suggest that you either put some self etche primer / anti rust on where you cut before instal due to rain water etc running down into those areas.... Also why bolts and such, why not rivets? Easier, cleaner and especially if their aluminum ! ( No Rust)
The hood is aluminum so it will not rust. We prefer pem studs and bolts for a cleaner look on the top side. That way you don't see silver rivets on the top side of the hood louvers.
@@VerusEngineering awesome i had a feeling that the hood was aluminum but wasn't sure! Thanks for response keep up the good work and God Bless in all future endeavors.
@@LostSou7 Thank you! You as well.
1.Rivets require extra tools
2. Most people don’t know how to use rivet tool
3. Too much tension and you risk warping hood or cracking paint.
What does this cost?
Link in description.
How does this work with rain?
Rain just goes in the engine bay. This car isn’t driven in the rain, so it’s not something we worry about. If rain does worry you, we offer rain guards for most of our hood louver kits.
@@VerusEngineering is that also linked in the description?
@@FocusedHands We do not offer rain guards for these units, but all our hood louvers/rain guards are listed on our website though.
Looking to spice up my 2005 Ford Focus ST build! Engine bay get heat soaked!
@@FocusedHands Nice! We actually offer Focus RS/ST specific hood louvers and rain guards.
Great products, great company, but why must you shoot on a literal potato
This video was taken over 3 years ago.... We have upgraded the camera and mic setup since.
You need to know that in case of a bad accident ,if the transformed hood doesn't not react as expected in case of a frontal collision ,and injures someone......
Thank you for the advice.
@@VerusEngineeringI think your vents look great and you did a fine job(even if it does not bring anything efficient for your engine(air pressure)..!!) I just remembered a guy I knew had his 'sport' rear wing fly off his car and caused quite a big accident ,and his insurance denied him his contract because of the non stock part he installed..it's good to know(that's also why crash tests are carefully filmed ,to observe how all the 0EM car parts react ,even in a 30 mph accident. That's why race-pin hood- locks are not allowed everywhere.
@@hectorherbert6585 The hood louvers are functional and decrease underhood pressure and lift.
@@VerusEngineering Of course if they are placed at the right spot and compatible with the air pressure under the front bottom of the car(it is quite scientific) if not they're useless...hood vents on front engine race cars have a complete enclosed flat bottom ,the air rushes from the frond radiator and escape from the hood vents ,no flat bottom and the air is sucked down by the pressure difference rendering the hood vents ineffective...Look it up...
@@hectorherbert6585 We certainly understand this as we do extensive testing with our products.
S550 GT spec. lol
www.verus-engineering.com/product-page/s550-mustang-hood-louver-kit-gt-hood-spec
Er? Cutting the hood bracing???
That's structural!!
We have seen no issues. The hood is still extremely structurally sound. In most aftermarket hood louver kits, the underhood structure has to be cut.
Yes, but it’s worth noting that the hood vent is metal and gives back some of that strength
