Personally, I don’t get the “it’s easier to use” point.
I got an iPhone for the first time this year with the 16 Pro Max, and after 3 weeks of usage, I think Android is more practical than iOS.
Some things I dislike from my experience so far that I find better and easier to use on Android: keyboard is mid, internet browsing has been kind of awful, notifications are bad compared to Android, photo gallery design/organization is bad, some apps are more janky than on Android (like UA-cam), not having a clear/back button or back gestures is way less practical (especially for one-handed use), having 2 different pull-down menus from the top is also less practical for one hand use, not having split-screen and floating windows is less practical - these are just what I can name from the top of my head right now.
Fr, they could mean that customizing is easier on iPhone and it's more simple.
You have to remember they're different operating systems. If you treat an iPhone like any other android, you will get frustrated. It's also a matter of psychology. If you used an operating system for years, it'll be harder to adjust to an entire new OS compared to switching android skins.
I personally use an S24+ and 15 pro and don't find either of them a struggle to use because I'm used to both OSes and their differences. I do sometimes try to pull up spotlight search on my s24+ and swipe down to access app library on my iPhone so it really depends on what you're used to.

Trust me, I've taken that into account already.
I'm not saying the things I listed are bad/impractical simply because they're different, I'm saying they're bad/impractical because I think they're bad/impractical.

It's possible that you use your devices very differently from me. Our workflows, daily uses and needs could be vastly different. If you don't find either system notably more impractical than the other in some areas, then more power to you, brother.
I’m in the same situation (iPhone 16 coming from a Pixel 6a) and I completely agree.
iOS is a very gentle OS because of the sounds, animations and haptics. But Android is easier, snappier, and better UX.
It doesn’t matter If I’m more used to Android, my girlfriend that is an Apple user is more frustrated with her iPhone than when she used to pick up my Pixel.
Objectively speaking, in Android takes less effort or taps to do certain actions, in most cases.
iOS is a more intentional OS, you have to be more intentional when pulling down notifications from the top, pulling them up from the complete bottom, going back with right gesture from left, down gesture from centre, back arrow on top left, cancel on top right, … it changes. Android is always back with the back gesture from left or right. And gestures aren’t as intentional, I rarely try to do a gesture that didn’t work, whereas in iOS sometimes happens, cause you have to be more intentional.
This is universal with Apple and Google. See Maps for example. Apple Maps has a cleaner design, but it takes more taps to do certain actions. Google Maps on the other hand has more buttons on view, but it takes less time and effort doing it.
Same with app settings having to go to overall Settings rather than in app settings.
The keyboard is another example:
- no number row
- comma and dot not in the default layout (you can do double space for dot but result is dot + space, which is not what we always want)
- multi lingual support is shit compared to G Keyboard, even with the latest update 18.0.1 that allows for 2 languages at the same time, with my Pixel i had 3 and better suggestions, better dictation, etc.
I could continue with these examples but you get the picture.
Apple sacrifice UX for UI.
Google main focus is UX, which might make UI have more elements.
Control Panel is a good example of this, period to iOS18, you only saw icons, no text with those icons. And nothing indicating that you had more options when pressing or holding those buttons. In Android you have an icon and text, and arrow when there were more options like with WiFi. My girlfriend didn’t even know what some of the buttons were for on her iPhone 12. On my Pixel she could clearly see what they were for.
iOS 18 improved a lot of these type of issues, like not being able to move icons closer to most people preferred thumb (right one).
So, it’s finally useable for me, but Android still offers a much better UX.
Every time I use an iPhone it's frustrating. Not easy to use. Android to me over the years has been better.

I have a Samsung phone, and the only way I could make app switching reliable and faster than iOS, was to use a GoodLock OneHandOP+ module, to do diagonal swipe. There is no excuse in having to do "features" is the core functionality is unreliable and clunky... Pixel was better with app switching however, still no iOS level tho.

as someone who sets my own custom ringtone, notifications, edge panels/navigation bar; I'll be sticking with my samsung.
Lots of reasons... Status, peer pressure fitting into social circles, blue bubbles, simplicity, marketing, perception that apple is the best in every way, developers focus on ios and video performance. Despite all of that, I prefer Samsung Galaxy over the iPhone.

And battery and stand by time is significantly better. Lock screen, FaceTime, automation etc. I can't believe Google fumbled on all of these things. iPhone launcher is better these days then default pixel launcher. It's embarrassing
And the funny thing is that they are no longer a leader on video performance. Vivo X100 Ultra is much better with all cameras than any iPhone in low light.
Galaxy s series now a days are competative except battery depletion...

Why do people like Apple? The majority are looking for some sort of validation from society by owning an iPhone. It's seen as a social status. I do think more people are starting to realize they're getting finessed by Apple though.
I used to think that as a lifelong Android user. I currently use a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and I love it, but my next phone will be an iPhone. I got the MacBook with the M series chips and it works flawlessly and good battery life. I ended up getting an iPad too and no issues either. Windows had too many issues. I won't look down on anyone for using an Android, but going forward, an iPhone is my choice.

Only in your country and for people who come from blended backgrounds in countries where 70% of people who are well off don’t buy iPhones for validation but people in poorer country’s do because they have the need to show off because they never had that privilege before so yeah invalid point. Go to Germany people there will tell you straight up we buy it for its reliability and security in your country they will either tell you the price or say everyone has one.
Which country are you from? In the US, no one cares about what phone you are using. I've seen people who drove luxury cars with broken phones / tablets and no one bat an eye.

I think you have a very solid case here. These are trends based on psychological factors instead of technology (as they should, in theory), hence more difficult to change.
This is the case for Apples original Human Interface Design guidelines.
Despite their newer products being over priced and less feature rich, the base design is still incredibly clean and simple. Sadly that’s where the awesomeness ends
Brother. Apple’s SOC is so far ahead of Tensor it isn’t even comical anymore. You can have your preferences sure, but let’s be real about “technology” and who’s ahead.
@@TheIndulgers Who uses a Pixel phone and wouldn't like a faster Tensor ? Sure, I agree with that part. However, usability and tech lead is not decided by a benchmark score (thankfully). It's all about s/w these days (or almost).

@@TheIndulgers What does that mean? What specifically can you do with the iPhone that someone can't do with a Pixel. I've never heard anyone say the Pixel 8 pro is slow. I've heard people say you can't play this high-end game that's optimized for iPhones good on Android phones.

It took me so long to figure out that 99% of people don't care about a lot of things us tech nerds care about, all they care about is what they're friends and family is using and use that forever and would never swap. Alot of people with they're much older iphones like iphone X still think they're phone takes better pictures than my S24. Just found that interesting

Such as, Apple TV+ movies not being allowed to show an iphone and a bad guy's FACE in the screen at the same time. Just one example of the insane lengths to go to, to ensure that whenever people see ANYTHING apple, all they could think of (subconsciously) are soldiers in battle using facetime to see family, puppies, smiling children, etc. Everything is bright, positive, happy, and perfect. EVERYTHING.
Apple is the #1 tech company in the world as far as how rich they are, because their marketing psychology is #1 in the world. The seconds aren't even close.
It's almost as if Apple has everyone brainwashed or bullied even.🤔 I like how the guy who made the movie Knives Out did with apples rule about iPhones.😅
They have also successfully marketed it as a premium brand, people strive to own them especially in developing countries. Back then they were not known to lag because they were all premium smartphones, Android phones on the other hand could sell for as low as $100 and people assume all Android were that slow and laggy.
Apple's marketing is so successful that even Google strives to be more like them.
I felt just as much excitement the first time I set up my Pixel phone seeing the welcome to pixel screen and feeling the bouncing haptics as setting up my iPhone for the first time and seeing the hello & face id

No to sound condescending or anything, but majority of people who own iPhones are flabbergasted by the simplest forms of technology so that's why such animations and sound are like alien technology to them. I prefer the straight forward simple approach of android and will always do!

that's true but they would be flabergasted owning android too. Android isn't harder to use than iOS. You don't have to be smarter to use android compared to iPhone. A lot of people are very good at tech and still prefer iPhone. A lot of people move from android to iPhones over the years. The main thing that most people forget is that 1000 options doesn't matter if there isn't a single option present that beats the iPhone's one option. Pixel ui is the closest to the iOS level of design that we've seen so far. There may be thousands of android phones out there but I can only own one at a time. Which single phone will beat iPhone. Now just stick with that phone and compare it fully. Forget android. We don't use android. We use the phone which runs android. The sad reality is, even though I've been tempted to switch to pixel for so long, its like google purposely sabotages it every year. They're doing exactly what Blackberry did with underpowering their device and justifying it as acceptable. Google also isn't a hardware manufacturer or a company who's business model is selling hardware or software. The software that you use on android is free and is worth billions of dollars of spending. With Apple, its expensive, but you pay for what you get. With Google, you don't pay anything in cash, but you do with your data. Google collects so much data about you and is in bed with all of the US agencies to a level that would surprise most people. Trust isn't something that is present with Google and so there goes all the android solutions. Google for example goes through all of your photos and uses AI to understand their content. Didn't know that right? Its not a recent thing. They've been doing this for over a decade now. Ai isn't new. I am a former pixel user btw. My pixel broke due to poor soldering of the microphone component to the main motherboard. That was a well known issue. Every generation has had major hardware issues. The second gen had the smaller phone and the bigger phone looking completely different while the bigger better phone had major display discolouration issues. Its been like that every year. Battery life. This. That. Its experimental for google. Android is another data collection method for them, it also serves to diversify their brand and gives them a great public image. Even if you hate Google, you will still like them simply because you know they own UA-cam and android. If they didn't, you would know them as nothing other than a secret background company which is one of the world's greatest data collection companies. They announce something today and destroy it the next. Its like they don't care whatsoever because, unlike their users, they don't care whatsoever. Their business is data collection and enterprise. What would they have to gain by serving consumers in a market where there already is the iPhone. This applies to Microsoft and their surface line and Windows too. They don't care about it. They are an enterprise company and this is just public relations. Its also a great way to train talent and see who is who and bring them through the ranks into the real business.

@@ZeerakImran that’s what I have been saying android is just as simple to use as iOS but people still seem to think that it’s not the case because they had an android phone like 10 years ago when it was legitimately worse than iOS.

3. Better App experiences since devs focus on IOS
4. A consistent, simple experience. Apple always feels familiar and consistent across both IPad, Mac, & IPhone
5. Better videos
6. Strong ecosystem
Sometimes I’m surprised devs even make apps for Android when their apps get pirated on the mobilism website. I will switch to Android in a few years.

Better resale value is a lie, at least here in the UK. I sold my 256GB iPhone 11 Pro 2 years after and it was barely worth anything at that point.

@@mrcraggle like take a example of s24 ultra it was launched at 1199 usd but now it's resale value less then 600 usd and compared to 15 pro max it's still more then 850 usd even after the launch of 16 series.
It’s the walled garden, that’s why I like my iPhone and Apple products so much. All my Apple products work and communicate with one another flawlessly, so that’s why I like it so much. Android has some good features and functionality (that I hope Apple steals for iOS) but can’t see myself switching anytime soon

@@jimmoefoe1471 Pixels just got to the point where the hardware is just barely matching the software. They’ve had modem issues, overheating issues, battery drain problems, etc for years now and it’s all just been addressed with the Pixel 9s (remains to be seen)

You are right. I love my Galaxy S24 Ultra and I don't regret my decision at all. That said, I do miss all the small things that Apple cares a lot about, things that make the interface more relatable and less tech first.
For example, the lack of accidental touch rejection in One UI is frustrating. On an iPhone, you can have a bit of a finger or palm touching the screen on the edge, but then still scroll the UI with an intentional action in on the screen. iOS is smart enough to pick up that the other input is probably unintentional, and will still allow you to interact with your phone as intended. There has been a couple of times that I interact with my Galaxy S24 Ultra only for the screen to zoom unexpectedly, for the video controls to show up unintentionally, or the interface will refuse to scroll when I swipe my finger. In this occasion, I would realize that I am accidently touching the edge of the screen which is being understood as dual input.
I have also found that a lot of time and energy is put into animations and exactly what they communicate to the user. They have teams of people spending a lot of time getting them just right.
Nice honest reviews from this guy. But I still remain conflicted between iPhones and androids. I love both the same.

You are right about most people don’t care and don’t know what their phone can do. People buy an iPhone just because it has this luxury, premium image in most people’s mind, and also most of the time it will not go wrong to get an iPhone.

@@VladVibes He didn't talk about money. It is just the image! Since there are no cheap iPhones, people with little money (should) have cheap Androids. People think that having an overpriced iPhone shows their status and that they have money (very often not true). While in fact, for most of them, it means they are ignorant.

Sure Samsung's flagship could be more expensive, but in the meantime they also provide tons of mid range and entry level devices, which normally will not be considered as "premium" . This is like comparing an Audi R8 to Lamborghini Huracan, they are more or less the same car but the image of Lamborghini brand makes it feel like a more premium, superior option for most people.

You forgot to mention the design of the iPhone. It's the same every year for a reason. People can identify iPhone immediately, can't say the same for Pixel/Samsung/Xiaomi etc.
I think the pixel 9 matches the iPhone finally. I have both. Two lines. And I find myself using the pixel more and more with the 9

Don't kid yourself, it's reliability and stability, and experience. Once a "normal" person tries iOS, they're hooked, and most of their smartphone tech issues are immediatelly solved, and they don't go back.

@@shango7942 iOS users only have to deal with finding the back button in different places on each app, being unable to easily export photos/videos, multi-tasking only by gestures. Anything else?

Gotta agree with this. I used to have both Android (Samsung/Xiaomi/Huawei) and iPhone. But the overall experience always felt better on the iPhone, which made me sell my android phones always thinking maybe it is the OEM I bought. The thought that apple puts towards animations and the UI is what android is lacking.
Point of correction, the phone you're holding in your left hand is PIXEL. Android is the operating system used by all phones except iPhone and Huawei.
As an iPhone user for the past six years, I agree with you 100%. Especially when there are so many options available and you begin to notice the inconsistencies and how they still don't understand the point you're making and why many people still prefer iPhones. In my case the Pixels has closed some of those gaps but google still has a long way to go. Great video!
The animations on iOS are really nice, even something as simple as using NFC. But if you want animations that truly compares to iOS, you have to try Vivo, Oppo or Xiaomi

Simple thing, iOS is for lazy people and android is for non lazy people
I think Google has played a vital role in haptics. Look at the uniformity of icons. Look at the colour match whenever you're using a Google service. People have just chosen to stick with Apple and their services for some reasons known to them. And some fanboys are always ready to call anything that's not Apple thrash. Is there anything that can fix that?
Imagine, pixel phones with new and unique animations and sounds in every corner, it will absolutely make pixels more lively and fun to use
Not until android is as stable and smooth as iOS. And yes I tried all flagship before switching to iPhone. My last android phone was a pixel 7 pro
This is a very very good use case discussion!
I think when it comes to iPhone users, they come in 3 categories. Firstly and often used to describe all, the social status snob. Someone who probably doesn't use their phone to its full capability and mostly uses iMessage and a few social apps. They will obsess over green bubble users and socially derides them for it.
Secondly, the media professional who knows how to use the phone's video and cameras properly for content creation or journalistic purposes. They will often use external hardware such as gimbals or microphones and use AirDrop with other Apple devices.
Thirdly, you have the users who want the ease of use, but they are not on the same level as the social status snob. They would more likely use the SE or an older device rather than the baseline iPhone (14, 15, 16) and keep it running until it fails.
These examples are more accurate for the US market, I would say, whereas in the EU, Android is the dominant OS by about 5-10% over iOS. It is more common to see derission from a Samsung user towards an Apple user from what I have seen and the snobbery is as toxic as you can imagine from the Apple social status snob.
Nothing OS is trying to change that compared to Google's version Android to some extent. Because design, aesthetics, haptics, sounds - these play way more important functions than we seemingly give credit to.

I completely agree with what you said. Unfortunately this is the reality: people prefer status symbol than functionality. Every time i try iPhones they seems archaic compared to the capabilities of androids.

Just US things: class society, discrimination on the grounds of your (bubble) colour is condoned, not wanting to shell out $1k for a phone is frowned upon (what are you, poor?). The brainwashing is real.
One thing I also like about apple is that they also spend time developing features that are not as flashy and easy to advertise. Like all the new AI Features are cool and all and yes, Android as a bit ahead in this category while Apple has some catching up to do. Like all the safety features like Satellite connectivity, Car crash detection or the new hearing aid stuff on the airpods. Features like this are (hopefully) not used often and don’t yield apple real profits but as a user it files like Apple is genuinely caring about their users. The same with their efforts to give their users privacy. So even as a tech savvy person like I am, there is a lot of stuff to like about the fields where Apple is innovating.

@@RaulCastillo As the feature got released it actually did sometimes accidentally call 911 on rollercoasters because the forces there are very similar to a car crash. But normally it should only do it when something did really happen.
I think what you said was a fair point, I also think because it came first people were just on it and many devices outside mobile work well with it. They also have much better health tracking features than Android, and everything works better with the OS. If Samsung had their own OS again they would go beyond Apple.
I used both, iPhone feels like hell compared to pixel. its so drastic, I hate the iphones so much now.
No bro it’s not about only feel good factors, I was a android user for long time but after switching to ios I noticed a few things
1. The ui of the apps look part of the os . In android the os ui and apps ui are different and different apps have different looking ui. So Apple is more coherent and consistent.
2. Every iPhone gets update in same times. You don’t have to worry when will your phone gets updated.
3. The shortcut and automation is a
Way ahead and the capability of adding shortcuts to control centre is helpful.
4. Only one login in iCloud. You don’t have to create multiple account like google account for playstore and google services and Samsung account for other Samsung features etc.
5. On the contrary of popular belief I think iPhone prioritises the work to be done , like photo video editing, with a powerful chip . But android like pixels focuses more on looks and ability to change the look with customisation.

@@VladVibes this is app specific … but in Samsung phone you have to create two accounts to use the phone’s in built features itself.

4:09 "they just see something nice happening on the screen". Unfortunatley this is painfully real. They dont know what they're looking at but since it's there, they like it.
I'm an Android-loyalist but can't deny that iOS has become so much more lively over the decade. So much attention to detail in the software and dynamic lively animations all around. Android is stale and stiff in comparison. Google needs to wake up.

Just because they put flat sides on their phones are many years of a different style doesn't mean that they're trying to be exactly like the phone
Google goal is to convert iPhone users to Android. So with similar design language might be more welcoming for them and might pull some users over. That's probably why they pushed their Pixel 9 launch right before the iPhone 16 release.
So I won't really say that Google loves iPhone but they are simply just experimenting with different tactics to do achieve their goals.
I totally agree with you, iphones may not have the best features but the attention to detail of everything in the phone and the whole UI and also the way the apps are optimised and smooth it just gives off the premium vibe

Beauty and design in everyday things matter tho. I tried to use an Android back in the day and I gotta say… interacting with something so ugly when you’re used to well thought out beautiful designs and attention to detail is upsetting and doing it everyday takes a toll.
@@DavidRamirez-vc8dr back in the day when? Android has changed a lot. Pixel OS with Google software is clean AF, arguably less bloated than my iPhone 16 and Watch Series 10 than my Pixel and Pixel Watch. And Material You design is very consistent.
Nothing OS is neat too, so is OneUI from Samsung.

Funny you mention well though out design and attention to detail - coming from my Pixel, I find iOS absolutely not thought out (you just got used to navigating in a narrow corridor of broken UI, it's called golden path design) and not beautiful at all (it's very inconsistent, just try going from home screen to settings - vastly different font sizes, colours, layout and so on).
Just try it, animations, sounds, haptics are on par. Now that Apple has been forced to adopt RCS you might not even get stoned to death for the green bubble heresy!

it is mind-blowing a feature I shoved my iphone user friend 4-5- years ago on ANDROID and they were bafflet - now is coming to IP and the say "look at this new feature it will BLOW yuor how cool it is LOOK LOOK" and i say been there done that for years ;-)

I totally agree with you. You hit the nail on the head. I have both an iPhone and a Pixel, but feel a more personal relationship with my Phone. I'm impressed with how good the Pixel is, but it's just a "machine". The iPhone is a friend.
As someone who doesn't own an iPhone, the 'better resale value' kind of turns me off if anything. It just signals to me that even a three year old vanilla iPhone will still probably cost me the same as or more than a flagship Android from last year which will be an objectively better experience in every way.
I agree with what you said and just to add to this “familiarity” thing, spotlight search. I’m constantly amazed by the accuracy of the app suggestions depending on the time of day that I pull it. Also the football reminders that show up when a match is coming. The iPhone is just so so personal that yes, it creates a different level of attachment that I’ve never had in the 8 years that I’ve used android.

Strait forward to the point is how i like it most of the time, so for me iPhone is more like a toy android is strait forward and you can do much more when you are tech savvy .
I've always used a Pixel phone. Just what I prefer. It's funny, all of my daughters friends say what kind of phone is that? She has to tell them it's a Pixel (Android). I also told her if one of your "friends" give you a hard time because you don't have a Apple logo on the back of your phone, that tells you all you need to know about them. I told her she could have an iPhone if she wants one, she said no, I like the fact that my phone is different from everyone else. Bottom line, every one is entitled to their opinion.

Many ppl ask " what does iphone give its owner? " The answer is " it doesn't give features...it gives some emotions that make the owner feel better... that's exactly what's missing part in android world
iOS excels at creating a more immersive and responsive user experience. While Android offers extensive customization options, it can sometimes feel less polished and more utilitarian. iOS's interface often feels more intuitive and inviting, with a focus on making the device feel alive and connected to the user. You can hate Apple product with all your heart, but you and numbers can't deny its a good products.
Exactly - on the surface it is accessible and tight/stable look and feel. As soon as you dig a little deeper - you quickly run into strange situations: options/buttons illogically positioned. Using third party software - is made difficult or with minimal support.

iOS offers better customization then shitty pixel launcher these days. The lock screen is trash compared to iOS. launcher also doesn't offer more grid size. Doesn't allow you to get rid of useless search bar. Spotlight search is a million times better

Every time I use an Android device I enjoy it and I really want to stay on Android but I always go back to iOS for all the features mentioned above and mostly for FaceID. This feature alone makes my experience even better.

I think a lot of people "like" iOS over Android because it's what most of their mates have. Green bubble versus blue bubble - Android for some reason carries more stigma in the USA because of that. Here in the UK nobody really cares that much. iOS sounds and features, you're right, has become known globally and are instantly recognisable. Android sounds haven't thanks to the total fragmentation of the OS.
I've moved back to an Android phone for the last time a few months ago and I don't want to go back to an iPhone. I'm so much more comfortable using Android now and it's just a lot more practical, though I don't like the Samsung apps I can't uninstall over the Google apps I use, so I'll likely make the shift over to Pixel soon.
I loved turning off the screen on my Nexus S. Minor animations options like that would be a nice addition to future builds
One main part is the animation interaction/haptics. The area where iOS is far better🔥. Hats off to Apple🙌🏻 how they optimised the animation/blur effects.

Keep your children's animations and I will keep Call screening and the way Google handles learning spam calls and text to automatically block or hide them is so far ahead of any other phone. It is such a convenient true quality of life features. Not cartoonish animations. Come on!
Status plays a significant role, but apps like Instagram also appear to perform better on iPhones, with reels and stories looking more appealing. The location tag presents differently and seems more attractive. Videos tend to have higher quality on an iPhone as well. Although I currently use a Pixel, these factors contribute to my consideration of switching to an iPhone.

I used to be an android user but I bought my first iPhone 4 years ago and I’m using it to write this. For the past 4 years I haven’t even thought about buying an android and I’m still not looking at any, here’s why:

After using iOS and it’s polished look and smoothness, android REALLY seems harsh and unpolished. From the initial setup (the fact that you need 3 different accounts vs 1) to the never ending permission request every app asks for.
To the laggy UX on a 120hz screen and flagship SOC…
Huge phone that lasts little over mine while having almost 3x the battery capacity.
How every app is completely different from one another.
The fact that it costed more, yet after 2 years doesn’t receive any software update.
The absolute garbage bloat ware from Samsung, and google (you have 3 apps that do the same thing)
The fact that it comes with like 20+ GB of OS things yet it feels like half of that is bloatware.
The animations are terrible even on an objectively better screen.
Don’t get me wrong, iOS is far from perfect (specially since iOS 17, which carried a lot of bugs, some of which are still present today) but it’s still much smoother and more pleasing than android…
This was a really good and fair synopsis. Like you said, iPhone provides more emotional value to the user where Android devices, especially Pixel, provides more pragmatic useful value to users.
This was true but there is a shift as more are not seeing progress with iPhones and at same time Android is advancing. It took Google Pixel just 9 generations to equal and surpassed what Apple and iPhone has done in 16 generation.

I've been using Android since the OG Motorola Droid was introduced, and I've bought a new Android phone or two every year since. People always ask me, 'When are you going to get an iPhone?' My reply is, 'I'm not getting an iPhone.' They seem genuinely shocked by that. I then ask them why I should get an iPhone, and their answer is consistently iMessage. Frankly, I don't know why they care what phone I use.
Imessage and facetime are big reasons for a lot of people buying iphones (and the other apple to apple only apps commonly used). I know many people that only have iphones because most of their family and friends use those two apps for communication and info sharing. And often picking an iphone is much easier than trying to figure out which android is good or bad. You pick the one that is in your budget (they are all very similar). Google has caught on to this while Samsung has multiple tiers from flagships to low end budget (with variations in those tiers).
I like iOS, for example, the way a regular calendar or notes app is made, Google calendar has days scrolling from right to left, and iOS calendar has the image of old wall calendars and days scrolling goes from top to bottom. The notes app is also simpler and more intuitive. I have been using Android smartphones for 4 years, and I am very good at technology, but I have not used most of the features in real life that are usually cited as an argument that Android is better, for example, splitting the screen into two parts, this is not convenient since each application becomes too small for normal use. But here are the features that I would really like to see in iOS: 1) clipboard in the keyboard. 2) better implementation of adding an arrow to screenshots. 3) a number row and a coma sign in the keyboard. As for the iPhone itself, I think they need to improve the quality of the photo. Overall I like the iPhone and the iOS system, design/animations/haptic feedback, they just need to add some really useful features that Android has, but unfortunately they don't understand it, they think we need icon color customization. 🤷♂️

Good points with the human aspect. I have a P9PXL and an 15 Pro max. I give the edge to the iPhone. While the features present on Pixel are more helpful for me, the experience is inconsistent. My notifications are delayed which has been an issue since the P6. When I update to a new android version, apps will brick. I think for me the real draw of the iPhone is the reliability and the ecosystem. Google lacks a consistent vision, which makes me apprehensive about investing in their ecosystem.
After using both os, most people complain about iOS and Android are relatable, we are just treating either os like the previous devices we came from, forgetting that they aren't the same, I also made the same mistake

Personally, as a tech enthusiast who’s used both Android and iOS extensively, I recently bought the Pixel 9 and used it for about a week before switching back to iOS. This has been a recurring pattern for me over the years. I have found apps on iOS, especially social media apps, consistently perform better than their Android counterparts. On Android, even with Google’s own devices, apps often don’t make full use of the camera hardware, instead resorting to screen captures. Also, aftersales support and customer care are far superior with Apple, especially in the Middle East and GCC region. While Apple’s AI isn’t fully mature yet, I’ve found Google Assistant to be more reliable than Gemini, which isn’t ready for daily use. Sorry for the long comment-it’s just hard to keep it short when there’s so much to unpack!

Here in Brasil we are not so alienated and attached to iPhones, mainly because we were forced to look up for cheaper options that could do the same or even better. Many still choose to pay a lot more to have an iPhone due to a reflection of USA's alienation. We've come a long way and nowadays smartphones can be so good for a very cheap price, so it is primarily a choice to buy an expensive phone like the iPhone. I wish Google would sell Pixels here, but we still have to import it, which is sad.
2 weeks ago i was up for an upgrade from my iPhone 7 that i had for more than 5 years, i was more than convinced i am going for the S24 Ultra until i got to the store and ended up leaving with a 14 Pro Max 😅

You forgot to mention the iPhone's back up and restore feature. Non-tech people not only love Apple's way of doing this, they probably need it if they don't want to bother family or friends.
Best thing about Apple is that they command a premium, but they do stand by their products, after sales service is excellent, QC and everything is great. I use a Mac and iPad for personal use (Longevity of Mac>> Windows devices of similar price), however I got a pixel for professional use as Android is much fun to use and the Android OS is much easier with functionality and usability, connecting to Non Apple devices, though things with iOS are changing.
Not nice to say that most iPhone users don’t know how to copy paste.

But let's be honest Pixel it's not first Google phone.. now it's 9 generations and 6 generations with Nexus before that and still too many issues and mistakes
Pixel is in its 9th generation, 100% in its 4th, the rest were googles software alone. The hardware was completely the manufacturers. Also now at its 9th generation, the phones are very mature.
@@arvind8302 Sure, it still overheats, has poor cellular signal, bad performance, and other compromises. And it's not just the 4th, it's the 4th with its 'own chip' (based on Samsung Exynos).But even though the processors are sourced from others, they fully designed these devices themselves, so they shouldn't be separated from Tensor chip-based devices. I'd also say that the Nexus phones were the same, as the main thing is the software, and Google developed it for Nexus devices themselves.
One of the important thing is stable and similar performance. If Apple is not perfect in a feature it will not force into it just because other competitors are doing it. In Apple there are no gimmick features which many companies do but harm their long term prospects. Android companies just add a feature not even ready for selling their smartphones.
I mean I have used both and I just like the UI of iPhone more. It's more consistent and fluid

from my point of view, it all comes down to looking or owning something luxurious. In my country iPhones are expensive as the average person wage is one third of the price of base iPhone. It is more about social status. So, when a person with $250 android sees a $800 iPhone, they all seem wow this phone feels smooth, or it doesn't lag like my phone when in fact, people who can afford those flagship androids they often go for the iPhones cause it makes them look special but a flagship android like Samsung feels like same midrange or budget Samsung and that's why those same people rarely get to see an android flagship. So, in their mind all android's lag and aren't smooth as iPhones.

From day 1 of the Mac it was designed to work well, be approachable and be loved by the user.
Same with iPhone. In fact the ipod was massively loved by people because it was an Incredible advanced device but was so simple to use, fit in your pocket and was hardy.
Google doesn't know good design. It only knows search, ads and user tracking.

Even power users care about the max usability, but the only way to look for it, is features, but sometimes using features is more cumbersome than doing things simply, especially for the more simple-minded smartphone users. I am an android user and I will always be but you make great point!
I want to buy my wife an iPhone since this is ideal phone for her. She has no idea about chips and hardware of phones. She wants to have a very good phone with great camera and she hates changing brands since she has to learn everything from scratch. When choosing iphone that disadvantage goes aways. IPhones are always the same.
I, on the other hand love to watch reviews, read about chips, cameras, features etc. That is why for me looking for new android phone is part of the fun.
Those phones are for two different people.
