I just downloaded this helmet and I'm using a Bambu Labs A1. I can't figure out how to use the pre sliced files. Any help in this matter would be really appreciated. I'm sure this cry for help is calling out my inexperience with this printer. I just got it and i love it. Still learning.

My helmet arrived today. I gotta say it actually looks alot cleaner out the box than I thought it would. The print lines are fairly insignificant to what I thought I would be working with. Nice job thanks boys!

@@Magosspud so go to the helmet, and in the options it says helmet only, with visor, and then there’s two options for visor only, there’s a clear and dyed version. You have to make sure it’s the physical product though and not the 3D file

I think i finally found my helmet for kit bashing,just imagine the possibilities this base helmet with a touch of arf/arc trooper helmet pieces from star wars,a radio or flashlight attachment type piece from halo based on either the odst or recon spartans and finally a nice paint job to finish it up(me personally id put it as a white and blue color scheme like five o first and keep the mouth plate black with abit of vent detail added in)
One thing I like about all the armors in HD2 is that almost all of it looks practical like something I could see being used IRL, even the flashy ones for super patriotic Super Citizens.

I have a question. Have you tried abs smoothing your helmets? It could possibly lower the amount of time sanding needed. Also, you can use acetone to glue the peices togethor easily! Only problem would be the fumes and needing to make a big enough box and platform for the helmet to smooth.

There are little ridges between the print layers. Mine arrived today and the print lines are actually really minimal for the most part. The top of the dome and a few select areas will need some work but all in all pretty dang smooth they must be printing in a reasonably high resolution and that is appreciated.

I saw a couple people thinking it would be a good idea to do their own. I personally was "take my Money!" For the visor instantly. They are kinda warped as shown in the video but still satisfied with the purchase for all intensive purposes they look real good. I think people underestimate the trickiness involved in such an endeavour. They even chemically etched them for us.
@Ratboycure Thankfully mine came out perfectly fine, no real warping to be seen. Gladly would pay the premium again to not be completely blind like my other helmets lmao

Does bondo spot puddy in paint thinner work as a work around instead of resin? Also do you put the clear coat on before the mud wash or after and then repeat?
I can’t believe the fan-base is this strong for Helldivers 2! Usually it takes like a month or three to get the Fanbase started with art, cosplay, animation and so on. It’s been a month since its release and it’s beginning to be a classic. How? Lol

Either bribe them with beer to machine cut me some or alternatively they would likely have some small scraps they would be more than happy to give you. With the scraps you could either do cut vinyl stickers or make some stencils to get some clean paint Down. Suprised that they have been so elusive.
Currently printing the "hero of the federation" helm in one piece on my ender5 plus at %97 scale. 4 days and 3 hours!🫠 gonna make a heavy armored version!🤑
I'm glad you mentioned print time. My Elegoo Neptune 3 max says B-01 helmet full build will take nearly 5 days at 100% scale. This is out practice run to get the right scale 😄
I would add that you will definitely will be cleaning the helmet with IPA after the coats of SLA resin, if not it will be unsandable as the resin will be sticky
There are many methods and plenty of great video about it. I am planning to fix it in place with super glue or more likely hot glue then use an epoxy to join the sections together. Something like superglue will work well but can be pretty brittle sometimes. I think welding them is the strongest bond but Pretty sure also the most work...and potential to destroy your piece.
@Ratboycure I used hot glue which catches the light and is unsightly. I'd recommend painting the back to prevent this. I intend to remove the hot glue and re-do this woth epoxy for a stronger bond.

I was doing the UV resin and filler primer layers but after the UV resin when you clean it off with alcohol it tears up the filler primer. Do you just not bother with the alcohol?
So should I just get the specialist tier if I want to get the stl files for the helmet? Cause from what I’m told we get to keep the files from whatever month we were subscribed to and the previous month if I’m not mistaken.
I am very impressed with your build it came out great. I just have a quick question I'm not sure about. I checked out your files to print out, and it says that the commercial rights to the files you create comes with the sub to patron. How can I be given commercial rights for copyright material from a source that doesn't own the brand. Am I missing something?
Thanks for the 3d print and tutorial. When you do the weathering you said do a clear coat between weathering coats but do you lay the clear coat down before your first pass of weathering?
If you mean to vacuum form then no it has to be pretty evenly heated. You could use your an oven but that is never advised. Honestly for what these guys are charging I think it is worth the purchase. You certainly will not save money doing it yourself on this leg of the project I think. But I am often mistaken.
Typically with PLA there's a few options. You can use E6000 or something like 'goop', which chemically bonds the PLA together. Or you can do my preferred method, which is to first us an adhesive and then a soldering iron to weld the pieces together on the inside of the helmet. You can always use additional material like steel stick or other components after depending on what you need to make sure everything is structurally sound.

A white colouring pencil.

I was hoping to see how you attached the 3 pieces together.
You can use a chemical bonding adhesive like 'gloop' or you can just use super glue + welding the pieces together with a soldering iron.

You clean off the UV resin before applying the filler primer. Always make sure to clean off the UV resin, that stuff is nasty!

I would tack it in place with super glue or a glue gun and use 5 min epoxy. Probably the best for the least.
