Is there Iridium or Mini Iridium in some kind of super steel? I really slike the knife and would like to try out my first super steel for a bargain price.. S90, S30, Elmax, S35, Vanax or even the might Magnacut..
My knife of the year is probably the Rex121 Sage 5. That much performance in a full production knife (not a sprint or exclusive) is impressive to say the least.
MERRY CHRISTMAS from Cyprus. Thank you for the long awaited "Knife of the Year" video. First let me say that I have just ordered the Bel Air in carbon. I am also really happy because, during this year my personal favorite is the IRIS. I have SIX of them in my collection and a few more were given as gifts to friends. Thank you again Dear DCA.
Just got my Chaves 229 blue label out of the mailbox an hour ago and it was everything and more than expected! Snap fires open and is scary drop shut. You have to be careful on closing it. I love it.
I cannot express how impressed I am with the knife! It is hands down my number one most snappy and drop shut knife I own and I have amazing knives all the way up to the $600 price. I’m genuinely happy I waited to buy the 229 because I feel this is the better version. I’ve handled the full Ti and it didn’t function quite like the blue label. I am so absolutely over the moon with my blue label!
@ you will not be disappointed! It’s so good and all I’ve done is fidget with it. I’ve never had a knife out of the box impress me this much. It really has me so satisfied I bought it. This is a purchase I will never think twice about. You will absolutely be love the knife!
The BFF Packlite on the skeletonized version is an absolute steal! 90 bucks for an ultralight ultraslicey magnacut knife superslim on the pocket and supereasy to clean when used with food is a win in my book!
What a year it's been for the budget range ! I'm travelling at the moment and am "only" packing the CJRB Pyrite Lite, Civivi HID and a Leatherman multi tool. Do not feel undergunned at all and they have been fantastically useful.
Merry Christmas everyone, and Happy Chanukah to my fellow members of the tribe. Best wishes for a great new year to all. Thanks for all of the great knife contest DCA and crew. My favorite acquisition for the year and current edc is my Vosteed raccoon. Great value, great knife.
Once I bought my first EDC fixed blade (böker ak1) I can't have a small folding knife anymore, my hinderer still my main but no more civivis, etc. Small fixed blades feel so right.
There's CJRB Pyrite Light with S90V for $90. That is the best knife of the year for people to try out the super steel for under $100 in a great EDC form.
I’m carrying the very classy useful Pocket Tango 2 right now. Absolutely fantastic and my 2nd favorite knife of the year. Sorry but Die Free Calvin wins outright but I tell you a Pocket Tango 2 XL would be legit top contender.
Good picks. Knife of the year for my personal purchases is the Spyderco Military 2 in CPM-SPY-27. I haven't had a Military before this model. Frankly I thought of it as simply a stretched out PM2 with a liner lock and it didn't really catch my attention until they added the compression lock and 4 position clip. When SPY-27 was put into the mix, I grabbed one. Love the way this stuff strops for it's stainlessness and edge retention. Holding the model and actually using it makes the concept of the design clear. Very versatile for a large knife and carries easily.
the best folder of 2024 and I honestly cannot believe I'm saying this is the cold steel fm1 it's not at dealers none of the big influencers have talked about it but it's amazing and barely over ¼ inch thick
Ordered my pocket tango, can’t wait for it to be in stock and shipped! On a side note, guess I didn’t pay attention enough and ordered two others for my daughter (getting more into the outdoors). We have a backpacking trip in kid-January. I sent in a note asking if I can get the other two sooner, haven’t heard, happy to pay the extra shipping if I can get them before mid-January.
Damnit…. Before the video started, I told myself if he names the knife I’ve been wanting as the knife of the year, I’m getting it. Insert, “take my money,” meme.
I hear your. About 3 mins ago I finally ordered a Canary large fixed blade thanks to DCA. I already have the small fixed blade so why not have the large as well (that's my excuse anyway).
My question is for the screwless Lionsteel. If you actually plan to carry and use it, is there a way to actually disassemble it to maintain it properly?
@@Kyle_Sentz yeah most of them have covers over them or are integrals and only need to remove the pivot. That Lionsteel front scale slides up and reveals the pivot screw and the liner that is screwed into the back scale. It’s easy to remove with a little snap.
I like the small Boker, I would consider getting one of those. Magnacut at that price is great. Also, I appreciate the video, but I think there was too much focus on china made stuff here. I would have liked to see some more USA/Canada and European made knives here (and I mean made, not company based in then offshored labor). Now if there wasn't that much stuff made in USA etc. that was that good this year then fair enough, but it would be worth pointing that out I think.
If your next president peddling Chinese made (not China made) crap , from Bible to the MAGA hats , I do not see a problem here . Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year to you .
Can you recommend more knives similar to the Condor Kambo Puuko on both ends of the price spectrum? Also can you say more about the aspects of an outdoor knife that's also good for wood carving/whittling?
Good video to watch as I settle in to Christmas Eve channel surfing. I have made all the knife purchases for 2024. There are a couple of standouts as collectibles in the pile. My focus is on fixed blade EDC for 2025. Thumbs up, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone at KnifeCenter
Im wondering if "pocket fixed blade" is a thing why theres no maker put pocket clip on the blade handle? and put a hook on kydex so it can do fast draw like emerson..
Right? A sprint run of Spyderco Zoomer in CPM SPY27 or some outdoors, heavy, thick outdoors knife. I only have Mule Team for a fixed blade in SPY27. They shy from fixed blades too much
Pocket fixed blades are great but keep in mind if they are styled like Ali and Ernie and you're hands are wet or slippery with oil you may slide down on the blade and ruin your day .
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good knife! 😂🎅🎄🙌
Here here!
The Kershaw Iridium has been my knife of the year. Cheers everyone!
I have it sitting next to a Benchmade 940 as we speak. There's no comparison. The Iridium is 10 times better for 1/4 the price.
@@The4cpBingo !
Just got a mini iridium in the mail on Monday, it's a great little knife! Kershaw is really stepping up their game
@cradd7108 great choice

Pretty much all winners here - great list. Big thank you to DCA, Seth & Thomas for the work they put in and have a great Christmas. Sharp blades all.
I’ve been loving the fixed blade edc trend. I still love my folders but nothing gives you that solid feeling like a full tang.
My knife of the year is probably the Rex121 Sage 5. That much performance in a full production knife (not a sprint or exclusive) is impressive to say the least.
Does the Rex121 rust much?
It's a sprint though, is it not?

I just ordered an exclusive blue label Redencion Street from Chaves a few days ago. After reading this, I'm even more excited.

@@jasonmccomas7220 yeah I’m so glad they came out with the blue label and still kept Elmax on them! Dope.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS and MERRY CHRISTMAS DCA!
Happy Holidays Everyone Awesome Video
Thanks, DCA ! Always concise, thoughtful and unbiased. In and of itself, a skill that is not to be overlooked !

Agree. Have and love the Belaire. It's action was perfectly dialed in right out of the box, is ambidextrous, and and super easy to use.
I'm so honored to have our first knives in this list, waking up on Christmas day finding this video has been great 🎉🎉
Yours is a fantastic product and the sheath concept elevates. Great job😎👍
@christophwilhelm6431 thank you so much
Carbon fiber Kershaw Bel- Air what a beautiful knife !
Once I bought my first EDC fixed blade (böker ak1) I can't have a small folding knife anymore, my hinderer still my main but no more civivis, etc.
Small fixed blades feel so right.
I bought an AK1 not long after release - no regrets. Works well and the ergos for me are just superb. Really easy to recommend. Take care.
@@jkn2k I’m waiting for the stock of the Magnacut reverse Tantos coming in soon and picking up the AK1.
My top 3
1. Petrified fish tunny
2. Kansept thoth
3. Civivi bulltusk DCA great video man 👍
@@davidhelka8929 I want a Thoth so bad!
Ken Onion has been making ergonomic handles on folders for decades, but that buckhorn is definitely his best so far.
On my Hellx, I took an Add a Stud for the Buck 110, filed the notch wider to fit the blade and put it on at the end of the jimping.. I love it now
There's CJRB Pyrite Light with S90V for $90. That is the best knife of the year for people to try out the super steel for under $100 in a great EDC form.
Excellent Job DCA as usual 👌👍 Thank you ! Merry Christmas.
You have a very cool job.
Merry Christmas!
Thanks guys! Was waiting on this one!
The button lock clip point in the intro scene. Which knife is that?
I’m carrying the very classy useful Pocket Tango 2 right now. Absolutely fantastic and my 2nd favorite knife of the year. Sorry but Die Free Calvin wins outright but I tell you a Pocket Tango 2 XL would be legit top contender.
I bought the civivi hid I couldn’t resist, looks just like my favorite kitchen knife 😊
Merry Christmas
Great choices. Cant wait to receive my own Bel Air. Thank you for another year of excellent knife content!

CRKT Redemption, Cold Steel Recon M1, Cold Steel Arc Angel, Kershaw Iridium. What I want to see, a 7 inch Militaw.
the best folder of 2024 and I honestly cannot believe I'm saying this is the cold steel fm1 it's not at dealers none of the big influencers have talked about it but it's amazing and barely over ¼ inch thick

Buckhorn...top 3 knives of this year , for my personal list. Kizer Huldra, and Magnacut Salt series from Spyderco as well

I like the Petrified Fish Hourglass and the Real Steel Sylph.
So many great options out there.
I love the Karbon Buckhorn.
Merry Christmas David C and Knifecenter Crew...
LOL ENRAGEMENT IS ENGAGEMENT. Nice to see the little guys like the RealSteel Iris get a shoutout!
Vosteed shilin cutter vanchor lock is my favorite edc knife at the moment, blade shape is phenomenal and action is so good
Knife of the year is a Böker (sorry Boker) from a couple of years ago. Cuts my apples and oranges pretty well.
POCKET TANGO OFF?!? I admire that DCA. MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL

The Chaves are so cool. Micarta is less expensive than titanium. But i prefer them with the skull clip !! ^^
The sandwich steel handle of the real steel is very cool ..! ^^
If you’ve never used a QSP Canary fixed blade or folder what a great product for the price. QSP is becoming one of my favorite brands.

Would like to get that Condor Kambo Puukko. Very nice.

The Smolt & the Iridium are my 2 favorites in 2024.
The Pyrite at 30 boxes is so cool. And rpn9 is not a bad steel at all ..! ^^
What was the budget knife next to the pyrite you skip
I am going to buy the Marten with orange allu handle ..! ^^
Merry Christmas all!!
Hey David I can’t help but to ask. Do you handle a lot of cardboard? Merry Christmas 🎅🏻🎄🎁 . And thank you for doing what you do!
DCA, where are the or what happened to midrange and premium fixed blade knives ?
I love the Petrified fish ..! ^^
Thank you!!😊
Joyeux Noël. Merry Christmas ..! ^^
Kershaw's is killing it with their barelocks.
The price range...wondering that for a while about vosteed..they were shooting up there in kizer territory fast.
Are they equally good?
Interesting to see the Smokeshow for $355 next to the Hourglass for $59.
If only that StraightLine EDC Ally had a curved blade or drop point....i'd buy that in a heartbeat!
What?? A Civivi fixed blade that isn't a hollow grind?? It's about time!
I tried to stop watching you! Always great!
The New Chaves line does look sweet
I hope they make a mini version of the Karbon Buckhorn.
What is the blue handled knife there?
Cjrb
Joyeux Noël !
I like my Vosteed Hedgehog. Good feeling in the hand.
not me creating a buy list to go through for next year
Vosteed Nightshade in elmax!
I wish spyderco wud step it up w edc fixd blads
Right? A sprint run of Spyderco Zoomer in CPM SPY27 or some outdoors, heavy, thick outdoors knife. I only have Mule Team for a fixed blade in SPY27. They shy from fixed blades too much
Why isn’t Civivi Yonder on here. Fav knife of the year
Retail price of the Bel Air in the UK is $279. At $150 it's an absolute steal. At almost double that, not so much.
Petrified fish ? Such a morbid name for some great looking knives I'm sure they are well made too.
Ausome mr David
I definitely don't claim to have your experience, but personally I say F a magnetic clip on a fixed blade over a standard metal one
дякую за чудову роботу! завжди чекаю на огляди ножів від вас!!!
Merry Christmas. I like the video, but none of the knives hit my fancy.
Isnt the Andrew demko free reign cpm magnacut, not one of the best fixed blades of 2024?
A Very Merry🎁Christmas🎄

Can you do best of USA made brands of 2024
Pocket fixed blades are great but keep in mind if they are styled like Ali and Ernie and you're hands are wet or slippery with oil you may slide down on the blade and ruin your day .
Karbon would be more appealing if they didn’t just use liner locks.
Happy holidays!
Bel-air
I never understand why put two blade on a knife ..! ...
Real Steel line for line stole the Kershaw Iridium and just made it with a folded steel handle. Can they just take a design like that?
Cowabunga.!
20 Ozark trial d2 knives. Or one Bel -Air ?
