Most demonstrations of this I’ve seen get it done in a minute or less with that immersion blender. Scared me a lot how long you blended it. Also doesn’t it need to sit on the counter for 8 to 12 hours to start the fermentation?
I make this but I just add everything at once and using an immersion blender you put into the jar on the bottom . Hold it down and watch it blends instantly as it thickens move the blender up and down to blend all the oil and ingredients together. (no drizzling the oil) Blend it all and it’s ready in 11/2 minutes. It’s perfect
What is whey probiotics? I’m only familiar with whey protein. I’m not understanding this step? Can whey probiotics be purchased and if so do you have a recommendation to which one?
Thank you Courtney❣ I'm going to make your recipe 🙆♀️ 🥰❣ I found your comment on letting it "rest" at room temperature for 4 to 8 hours. I'll cover mine with a nut bag till the time is up, then lid it & put it in the refrigerator. I'm so excited to try this now 🙆♀️❣
This looks amazing and super easy. Im just not understanding the 2nd ingredient. How do I purchase whey probiotics? I’m only familiar with Whey protein and there are soo many to choose from. The easier the better. Im not good in the kitchen.
Hi Debbie! You can get probiotic whey from your plain dairy yogurt or sour cream. Whey is just the liquid that separates from the solids during culturing. You can drain some off the yogurt or sour cream for this recipe or if it's hard to collect the whey you can just add a spoonful of yogurt. I've done that many times!
@@ButterForAll thank you . I don’t really recall liquid or not enough liquid to use from sour cream or yogurt. If I can add just a tablespoon yogurt that would be very easy. Thank you. I had no idea that was considered whey.
I've made mayo before and love it but my daughter is allergic to avocado. We only have olive oil and pastured lard on hand. What is a ***healthy*** oil that I could use instead of avo oil?
extra virgin olive oil (need to be careful what brand, not regulated so lot of bad ones, maybe pick California Olive Oil Ranch brand that's 100% from california one at walmart) prob works but has a strong taste so won't be like usual mayo. I don't know if there's a version of olive oil thats real that tones down the flavor or not. Avocado is tasteless is why it's better to use when not allergic to it
I'm going to use grape seed oil. I've watched a few videos on how to make homemade mayonnaise with a bit of whey added to the mixture & when fully bkended uou put a nut bag over top & let it sit for 5 hours , then out the lid on it & refrigerate it and use foe whatever you would use mayonnaise on/in. This is the first recioe where no resting time was mentioned, so I don't know if Cortney lets it rest or not. I'll read some more comments to see what others have posted on any rest time. I hope my suggestion helps you. Some say that evoo is too strong tasting & that's how I feel about evoo & Avacado oil. I wish you all the best 👍 ❣
I found Courtney's reply on the resting time, she typed 4 to 8 hours. I'll cover mine with a nut bag to let it breathe & then when the time's up, I'll put a brown Ball Ace lid on top & put it in the fridge & once it's chilled the first thing I'm going to use it in is my tuna salad for sandwiches 😋 🙆♀️🥰❣
Fermented sauerkraut juice or fermented pickle brine work really well and add a zing. I've never tried powdered probiotics. My understanding is that they really don't have much probiotic power.
You say easy mayonnaise but you start the recipe (where I stopped watching) with an amazing difficult ingredient; a pasteurized egg yolk or an egg from a backyard chicken. What percentage of UA-cam viewers could possibly have access to that? Give me a break. You started the video scaring the viewer. I’m sorry.

I buy organic sourkrault with probiotics and put a tbsp of the liquid in my mayo
Who would have thought to put a probiotic in something like mayonnaise! This recipe looks awesome I'll have to try it out! Thanks for sharing!
It's definitely a staple in our house! Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks SO MUCH for this! I’ve always got whey and love fresh mayo!

Thank you so much for this simple video. No fluff here!

Egg yolk, 2 tbspn whey, 2 tbspn yellow mustard, 1 tbspn lemon juice, 2 tsp salt, blend. Cup and half olive oil. 😊Blend great.
Courtney,
I have a sensitivity to casein in cow milk.
What could I substitute for whey?
Coconut cream?
Sauerkraut juice would add the probiotics and would be my first choice. A little plain coconut yogurt might work as well. ❤

Can I use a probiotic capsule? Also do you leave your fresh mayo out to ferment at all?
I leave mine on the counter for 30 min with an untight lid.
Can you use whey that was frozen and then defrosted?
I'd love to see a video on a sour dough bread.
Yay! I have one coming! I'm just finishing up my Sourdough Boule recipe and I will include a video. Thanks for watching!
Can 2 TBLS of fermented sauerkraut brine be used instead of the yogurt?
Absolutely! It works really well!
can we use whay from making cottage cheese?
if it's cultured yes, if it's cooked or scalded then it wont add any probiotics.

Virgin Olive oil,virgin coconut oil
I’ve made mayonnaise with the Bertolli extra light tasting olive oil, and I think it does really well.

Immersion blender
So you don’t let it sit out for a few hours to ferment?
Thank you for the good vibes!
Is there anything else you can use for the probiotic other than way? Is 3 dry ingredient probiotic that you can use instead of away?

Can you use dill pickle juice instead of whey??
yes, and it's delicious!
Didn't you leave out how long to leave it out? Then refrigerate, right?
I leave mine out for about 4-8 hours.
@@ButterForAll Thank you, I was looking for this information in the comments 😊🥰❣
Can i makit without egg yolk mam?
yes, if you tolerate cashew you can sub a 1/4 cup of raw cashew nuts. It works pretty well.
good video..
Thanks! I hope I can make more soon!
Uhhh...i didnt see it getting nice n frothy. 😶
