SSFR - Ladder 127 Response *Vehicle Fire*

While out on detail, SSFR was dispatched to a reported vehicle fire. The caller was reporting a small passenger car with a fire in the engine compartment. Response view is from Ladder 127. Medic 1 arrived on scene to find a small passenger car with fire showing from the engine compartment and extension into the passenger compartment. It was noted no structures or other vehicles were in danger. Engine 129 arrived on scene shortly after and deployed an 1 3/4in bumper line, quickly bringing the fire under control. Ladder 127 was advised to slow their response once the fire was knocked. Upon arrival, Ladder 127s crew assisted with overhaul, and extinguishing hotspots. Units operated on the scene for 30 minutes before returning to service.

SSFR is a combination department in East Alabama staffed with a 24/7 paid EMS crew, and three paid firefighters Monday - Friday during business hours with volunteer firefighters completing staffing during all hours of the day and night. SSFR runs approximately 3,000 emergency calls annually.
