I switched to Paiste in 1979 when I was THE only guy I knew who used them. I was 18 then, and I've never looked back. 38 cymbals and 40 years later, I still feel like a kid in a candy store when I see a bunch of Paistes. I'm more than proud to have been all Paiste all these years. Now if I could just get a handle on my cymbal addiction.......

I started playing Paiste Cymbals in 1984, starting with the 404 and 505 series. Later I played 2002‘s and some RUDE‘s. I eventually play the Line series. 35 years with PAISTE. What a journey it was. Thank you PAISTE for your wonderful craft.

Bought the GIANT BEAT HH (NEW) AND GIANT BEAT 24" (NEW) RIDE yesterday and they sound amazing. These are my first Paiste cymbals ever and I bought the 16" 201crash (used) and 10" pst3 splash (new). AND I'M NEVER GOING BACK TO SABIAN OR ANYONE ELSE.
PAISTE sounds the best in my old ears.

P.S.sorry if I sound excited, I'm just getting back into drumming after decades off. Starting from the drum throne, got a 24"ride, HH, CRASH AND SPLASH WITH THE VARIOUS STANDS AND THE MANDATORY COW BELL (1 of many many bells to come)
Now I just need the shell kits to play.
Although I found a smoking deal on a bubinga wood Ludwig snare.
I got cymbals, stands, throne with back rest, a drum and a HD cymbal case FOR OVER $2100.

As an Estonian, who also plays Paiste, it's unbelievably cool to see a kit in Estonian flag colours and still hear a small Estonian accent in the way Erik Paiste speaks English. Best cymbal company in the world inside and out!

No, I'm not a drummer, but I've been playing guitar in bands for forty years and I can tell you I've always been happy when working with drummers who use Paiste cymbals because they just sound better for me and cut through a mix at just the right frequency. They also look darn wonderful! Great video! Interesting company history.

Thank you for this fascinating insight into how these superb cymbals are crafted. What a class act Mr Paiste and his craftsmen are. I was born and grew up in Switzerland and Ian Paice was my favourite drummer. I bought Machine Head aged 10. He played Paiste cymbals, Smoke on the Water....definite Swiss theme to my story. I worked for 2 months in a department store in Geneva to pay for 3, 2002 Series cymbals. 40 years on I'm still playing them and they sound and look as good as the day I acquired them. In have just ordered the 2002 24" Big Black Beat crash ride as my retirement present. Truly a lifelong story with Paiste.

You missed an opportunity! Paiste has always marketed themselves as having a consistent sound. There’s the scene with the master cymbal, and a whole bunch of new cymbals. Why would you not let us hear how all those cymbals compared to the master? It would be great to hear just exactly how close those new pies matched the sound of the original. Instead dialogue walks right over the sound of the cymbals, and we don’t actually hear how close they match.

He had to work and couldn't come to the factory with me, so he told me to just follow a few more train stops and get off in Notwill.

Its crazy to think I have been playing Paiste cymbals for 30 years. I think I had 1 other cymbal brand when I first started and tossed it very quick. It has never even been a question what brand to buy. I'm obsessed with the product, its really a work of art. I'm finally converting everything over to Signatures. They are the sweet spot for me. But I'll run into childhood friends and they always ask if i'm still playing drums, and they always say. Still playing Paiste? Of course, they are tattooed to my arm, LOL!

    The Paiste History
The Paiste Sound Story begins at the turn of the century.
    Russia
    1901-1916
Michail Toomas Paiste, a composer and musician, whose father had come from Estonia to serve in the Tsarist Guard, founds a publishing business and music store in St. Petersburg. The operation, which also includes modest instrument manufacturing and repair facilities, flourishes for many years until the upheavals of the Russian Revolution force its closing.

I had the opportunity to tour the Paiste facility about 10 years ago. I unfortunately do not have video of my tour and it has been running through memory since. Thanks to Jared and Drumeo for giving me the experience of re-living a great day. Thank you to Paiste for allowing me the rare opportunity of the tour and the demonstration of what goes into the making of your very fine cymbals. It is a day I will never forget. Thank you to Renato Mueller, who was my awesome tour guide.
    Cheers from Canada,
    Danny

Can you buy cymbals/t-shirts/ or otger stuff whilst visiting paiste?

    • @DrBlammo
      @DrBlammo 3 роки тому

@@jonathanmosebach2921 At the time I visited, I did have the option to purchase items. The transaction was limited to cash only. I only had 50 Swiss Francs with me, which limited my spending.
The visit did need to be pre-arranged through communicating with the factory head office. I should have taken more pictures, especially of the show room entrance. At that time they had a complete drumset manufactured from bronze on display and a room with sections in tribute with former Paiste artists. The only picture I took was of myself standing in front of the worlds largest Gong. I hope you can arrange a visit.

Thinking about it it's mental how many of my favourite drummers or drummers of my favourite bands play Paiste cymbals...
Great documentary once again, very interesting to see how those cymbals are made and how they make sure that everyone gets a cymbals that sounds the same and has the same quality!

I think Paiste is the best cymbal I've ever played. I can spot them instantly in a recording. It might have been my favorite band of all time (Stone Temple Pilots) that got me hooked on that sound. Got the PST 7 box 2 weeks ago and they are phenomenal.

I played drums on Dave Cputts version of Saturday, and yes I played Paiste (have for 30 years).
If you find it on UA-cam, I played:
13" Signature Dark Crisp Hi Hats
      16" Signature Fast Crash
      17" Signature Fast Crash
I also had a 20" Signature Dry Ride, and 20" 3000 China Type on the kit, but didn't use them on that track.
I always loved the DeLeos music with any of the singers they worked with, but Dave is my absolute favorite.

Between being rolled flat and pressing the bell, the metal would shatter. After the bell is pressed, smack away 😆
