    ***** About Venison for Dinner *****
    Thank you for joining us on this crazy journey! Our family- Kate and Marius plus our five kids, have always enjoyed living a homemade life whenever possible. Moving 1000 miles north in 2017 to Northern BC, Canada upped our game even more. We live on a 34 acre homestead and get a kick out of things like raising our own meat, dairy and vegetables. Theres plenty of failures, you’ll be sure to see those here too. We’re a homeschooling family who believes life is the best teacher but we do hit the books in winter. I’m so glad you’re here, I hope you stick around!
    We put out a new video every Wednesday morning! We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

    Love the herb cupboard and the informational labels! I rendered lard in the same way a couple weeks ago. I'll have more to do in a few days! Also love your rebel canning. ;) So my children aren't the only ones who like to eat with their fingers and use their clothes as a napkin. lol I can hardly wait to have a dairy cow again. So excited that yours are close to freshening! Your videos are always so inspiring, Thank you for sharing!

    Thanks for the inspiration! I’ve totally forgotten that I have lots of pesto in the freezer😋. I’ve had bear when I was little but I don’t remember its flavor ☹️. I grew up south TX so not a staple around there -Dad had to hunt out of town sometimes-deer and wild hog were our usual-fish, occasionally rabbit.
    Oh yes broccoli salad tonight-I have lots of broccoli right now😋
    I asked for my fat when we had calf butchered and he forgot to tell him-I was going to render for tallow for the first time-I’m so sad every time I see someone using it☹️

    Hi Kate. We've seen short (secs) glimpse of your rebel milk canning, would you be able to do a video on that ie. Process, how long it would sit on the shelf, how it taste after opening it from storage, please? Would your method be similar to store bought long life milk? BTW, love your channel and LOVE LOVE how you don't have a title sequence!

    I added lemon juice to my thick marinara sauce and water bath canned yesterday. Now I am second guessing myself and think I should have pressure canned this. I may redo that today.

    • @VenisonforDinner
      @VenisonforDinner  9 місяців тому

      If you search the internet there is information about how much lemon juice or citric acid you can put in to avoid spoilage if water bathing. Perhaps you put enough in? Also, if it's not a large amount, you could label it 'use first' so it's not stored for over 6 months?

    What do you use the bear fat for? Does it have a strong smell?

    • @VenisonforDinner
      @VenisonforDinner  9 місяців тому

      We use it for cooking and baking. The smell depends on what the bear was eating, so if it did have a strong smell I would only use it for cooking. Ours did not.

    Not sure if this is a topic you'd be willing to comment on but what is your biblical perspective on being the provider of your family when the bible states the husband/father should be the family provider? Back in the day it was not even a thing for the mother to provide financially so seeing this trend of women bringing their husband home from work has me curious about the biblical stance on it.

    • @VenisonforDinner
      @VenisonforDinner  9 місяців тому +4

      I think of the proverbs 31 women and my husband still very much being the spiritual head of our house which is more important than from whom the money flows. Marius and I actually both work on our business, he does behind the scenes things, Im just more the face of it. A team effort ♥️

    Barefat is the best boot grease ever I was always told that stunk but when I got my bear I rendered down the fat and only kept one jar because I figured that's all I need don't need the rest of it put it on my boots and lasted for two years without my boots getting wet i've never had boat grease that worked they always never worked but barefoot works excellent Ohh yeah I didn't have any smell either so I should've kept all the bare fat bears have a lot of fat
