I Freeze Dried Our Raw A2/A2 Cows Milk
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- I did approx-
6 cups powdered freeze dried raw a2/a2 milk from our cows
4 cups organic cane sugar (I normally use coconut sugar and forgot!)
2 tsp sea salt
Blend well then add-
3 cups raw cacao powder or your fave cocoa powder.
Store in a sealed container and add oxygen absorbers if you wont be using it asap...we will be using it up fast!
To make a cup add about 2 tbsp of the mix to a small mug, fill it half full with hot water, stir well, and then add more hot water, or cold if its for little kids. Enjoy!

Congratulations on the pregnancy. Healthy Mama healthy baby.
We got to see Marius's tender side. Awe, so sweet. Congrats. I love when Christian couples have big fami!ies.
I loved seeing your homestead. Thank you for sharing.
“Wash your hands friends.” Hahahaaaa! Just keeping it real, lol.
The little one eating the cocoa mix from the cup is just so cute. Reminds me of when mine were little. Either way they are enjoying the cocoa. Enjoy their wonder while they are small, because they grow up so quickly.
Oooh so exciting to see there will be another lucky member of your beautiful family. Congrats and looks like you a re taking care!!!!
Thank you so much. And yes I am focusing on taking care of myself!
I wish I had the ability to have a cow.
Love this idea! When I get a freeze dryer I will be making this for sure.
Exciting! You won't know what to freeze dry first!!
Looks like the kids had fun helping and enjoying the hot chocolate.
They are always so keen to help! I love it.
Cute kids 🧒 🧒 thanks for the recipe… I will try to do this for my grand kids

Good morning,Kate! How fascinating!!! I love videos on freeze drying. What a great way to preserve foods!!! And... congratulations! So happy for you all! I actually guessed awhile ago! 😊
Thank you so much. You are very observant!
Yum! Great Idea for dried milk use!
Indeed!
Finally, a way to preserve extra milk when there is an abundance. Thank you for sharing. ❤
"Congratulations!"💓👣💓...Love you cocoa mix! Definitely 100% healthier then what you can buy in the store!See you next week!😊
Thanks Judy!!
I make my own hot cocoa but since only 2 of us now, don't buy powdered milk in bulk, but from the health food store. We get fresh milk from a local farmer, I think I'll try this.
Love you helpers they are so cute!. thanks for sharing with us.
We been using our freeze dried milk for our pantry challenge and it works great. Be careful when you fill the trays.
Loved your video and your beautiful family. Thank you
Loved your video and your beautiful family. Thank you
Your video was not only educational about the freeze drying of the milk process and making the coco with nib powder...But entertaining! I just loved to hear the kids in the back ground, oh and wash your friends wash your hands- heck, I say wash your friend's hands!!!!....no gloves for me either usually. It is wonderful to me when someone doesn't edit out all the real life. I miss little feet and high pitched voices and whys and how comes?!!! I loved your belly rubs and pats! Thank you for this! You all are beautiful! Angela is great for putting this all together ❤ and along with all the sponsors and those terrific prizes 😊
Thank you so much for your kind words!
I am so happy for you! The freeze dried cocoa recipe is genius!!
Your slip up “wash your friends” got me good 😂😂😂 great video! As someone who is just getting into dairy cows, getting a freeze dryer is something I am definitely considering for the future. I can definitely see how it could be super helpful for colostrum as well.
I wasn't 100% sure how much we would use it, but once it arrived and we started, it's been amazingly useful!!
I've never done milk before. That is definitely on my to do list!
So wish i had a milk cow❤maybe someday!!!
Thks!!!
Loved this video. Real life. Thanks
I never thought to pulse the sugar to help with the mixing.
Farm life is the best life! 🐄🐓🐖 #freezedriedfebruary
Eekkkk!!! A new littleone?!!! Congratulations ❤❤ loved the video too haha!! All the best from your Ontario friend!

I WANT A FREEZE DRYER SOOOO BAD! just found your channel and subscribed. I’m in California and I love watching Canadians because it’s so different from US homesteading. Looking forward to seeing more from you!❤
Thank you so much for joining us here!! You have all that beautiful citrus growing everywhere right?? I'm a wee bit jealous of that.
I love the idea of making dried milk powder. I make a lot of french breads that call for dried milk. I dont have a freeze drier yet, but am looking forward to having one someday. I regularly watch your videos and learn something new all the time. TFS!
Thank you so much for joining us here!!
Amazing, just amazing. You have beautiful little helpers. When I get my cow, I have to try this. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
Thanks so much!!
I'm just learning about freeze drying. Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome
Absolutely fabulous news, I am sooo excited for you both, congratulations, I can't wait.
The chocolate mix looked fabulous too
We are pretty excited too. The chocolate mix is really good!
love the close ups of the texture and product! thanks for this...i've been wanting to try milk...
So glad it was helpful!
Congratulations! What a beautiful family you have. So excited for the addition for you all. ❤
I love to freeze dry raw milk. When you freeze dry a gallon of skim milk, do you typically get 6 cups of freeze dry = to that 1 liquid gallon? Thanks!
Thank you for your kind words! Unfortunately I don't track my yields- this was 5 quarts milk.
Your children look happy, your hot cocoa looks delicious! I love having freeze dried milk in my totes! It’s delicious! Much better than store bought powdered milk.
Yes, it's really is a great/useful product to have on hand
My cows aren’t milk cows….. yet. 🤫😅 but I need to get some milk freeze dried so we can just have it on the shelf. I follow you pretty religiously on instagram.. thanks for always being real! ❤
You are most welcome. Thank you so much for your support.
Very much enjoyed getting a glimpse of family farm life in BC. Thanks for sharing your family with us. The hot chocolate recipe looks amazing. Love the simplicity
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for joining us here.
We buy our A2/A2 Raw milk from an Amish farmer nearby and have been exploring all the ways to preserve it, like cheeses, and freezing. Unfortunately, we won't be able to freeze-dry it until we've purchased a freeze dryer. Thanks for showing us how!
Oh that is so great you have a source for raw milk!! At least there are many other ways to preserve it for now. Thanks for joining us here.
Love hot chocolate! This is a great idea.
Having a milk cow isn’t really feasible for me, but I am planning to locally source some fresh milk. I’m excited. A freeze dryer is in my future too, hopefully. Thanks for a great video.
That's great that you can source some fresh milk!! Thanks for joining us here.
What a great video. Love that you showed milking the cow. That brings back memories ❤. What a blessing to be able to freeze dry your own milk. Thank you!
I love it when a video brings back fond memories for others. Thank you for sharing that with us.
Hot chocolate, yum and now I can make it your way and always have it homemade instantly, knowing the exact ingredients are wholesome and healthy with no hidden bad ingredients. Thank you so much for participating in Freeze Dried February. Just subscribed!!
You will love it!! It truly is the best of both worlds. Thanks for joining us here.
I'm new to freeze drying, and I got one for Christmas. So this collaboration has been great for this newbie! I'm learning so many tips, tricks, and recipes, ty.
Glad it was helpful! Perfect timing for this collaboration!
Thank you for participating in freeze dried February and sharing how to freeze dry milk
You are most welcome.
I haven’t freeze dried milk yet. I have some that I purchased but trying to do all of my own freeze drying now. I need to bite the bullet. TYFS
Once you do it you will see it's easy enough. Freezing the milk ahead of time is key I think. You can do it!!
Great recipe for healthy cocoa, beautiful family and freeze drying instruction all in one! Great colab video, blessings..
Thank you so much!
Wow what a great idea! I wish I had a milk cow
No gloves? You are also preparing food for your family and not for the public. That's a diffrent process... your home your rules!
Absolutely!! Thanks for joining us here.
I thought ya'll lived either in New England U.S. or Canada by the way Y'all say the word About or bout. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Yes we do live in Canada. Thank you for joining us here.
My first time visiting your channel you have a beautiful family. My it looks so cold there! I havent milked a cow since i was um.. Many years..lol. Brought back memories. Will subscribe and check out more videos.
Thank you so much for joining us here!!
Great tips for the freeze drying process. Thanks for making the video.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow! I didn't know you could freeze fresh milk, so I learned a lot from this. I haven't yet invested in a freeze dryer, but your video has me really exploring the possibility. Thanks for sharing and take good care of yourself!
Glad it was helpful!
That hot cocoa looked delicious. I look forward to trying it. Currently do not have a freeze dryer, but I DO have freeze dried milk. Will mix up a small batch of your lovely hot cocoa to give it a try. Thank you so much for sharing. 😊
Oh that's great you have some FD milk. I think you will love this mix!
Thanks! Loved the beginning to end of freeze drying to make hot cocoa! Looks cold in your part of the world, we are just a bit below you and it's warming up 🙂Congrats and thanks again!!
You are most welcome! It can be very cold where we live but this year the temperatures have been wildly fluctuating. Thanks for joining us here.
Your milk looks wonderful.Nice to know I don’t have to worry about being on top of the freeze dryer when it completes the cycle.
Thank for all of the information.
Have a blessed day!
Yes, I find it makes a big difference to my peace of mind to know it's ok to let the freezer dryer finish it's cycle without me having to hover over it!
Thanks for sharing, educating myself on freeze dryers. May get one this year hopefully. Diane Hartley
You are most welcome.
Thanks for doing the milk. I've been wanting to do my ewes colostrum for orphan lambs but not sure how. Thanks again
Our pleasure!
Thanks for the tip on grinding the milk. Ive tried using my fd a2a2 milk for creamer in my coffee without success. I didnt grind it. Congratulations on your coming soon wee one!!
Glad it was helpful. And thank you!!
Enjoyable video and recipe
Interesting, I'm new to your channel. I just stubbled upon the #freezedriedfebruary by watching Plentiful panty who I've been following because of dehydrating, but then watch her freeze dry videos, I almost bought one a year or so ago, chickened out because of the price and not I would like the products, how do the foods compare to store bought freeze dried food? all these different videos are really showing how many different kinds of foods and there uses afterwards.
We've never bought freeze dried food so I have nothing to compare it to. However we do love all that we have processed as well as convenience of having the freeze dried food on hand.
I’m so glad you showed how to make the cocoa powder! As I was watching, I was hoping that you would. I freeze dry a lot of milk and have 3 grandsons so this is a wonderful idea. Thanks for the video. 😊
Oh that's excellent. You have the major things needed!!
What a lovely family you have. Thanks for taking us along on this journey. I use a lot of powered milk. We are not milk drinkers so powered milk works best for me. God bless.
Thanks so much! 😊
Great video. Your hot chocolate looks delicious. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Thank you. I hope you can give it a try. It's lovely.
I have really enjoyed freeze drying milk. I have always just pulled the trays out and poured while they were sitting in the machine. Thankfully with no mess; however I love your idea of just freezing it in the trays first. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, freezing it first certainly avoids a potentially messy situation
I loved the tip to skim the cream before freezing your milk trays. I'm going to give it a whirl with my goat milk! Thank you for sharing. :)
To me it made all the difference. Waaaaaay easier.
What a wonderful use of your fresh milk. I am sure it helps avoiding waste. Thank you for sharing in the collaboration.
Thank you so much 😊
Yummy hot cocoa! Thanks for the tips on freezing milk and learning that cream doesn't freeze dry well!
You are so welcome!
This brings back such fond memories of my grandmother’s farm in Camrose Alberta back in the early sixties. She was so good at milking the cow. No freeze dryer unfortunately but it was so fun to see how you do that.
That's lovely! Precious memories. Thanks for joining us here.
Loved your video and will be trying this very soon! Maybe on your channel you could mention all your different ideas for the cream. I loved you channel when it showed up in my feed and now I have subscribed. I think it would be so beautiful living up there in BC!! Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for subscribing!
I love making hot cocoa from scratch but all I have is the store brand powdered milk witch tastes yucky to us, but is all we have. I will be happy to be able to make it with real milk powder that I made myself. I am grateful for you sharing this video. Looking forward to more from you. Thank you.
I would think the powdered milk (yucky) taste will be masked by all the other yummy ingredients. Fingers crossed. I'd love to know how it tastes.
Thank you for participating in this collaboration! I do not yet have a freeze dryer or dairy animals, but this whole collab is giving me even more reasons to save for my freeze dryer. This looks wonderful!
It's so true! We are using ours way more than I anticipated! Many more things can be freeze dried than I thought.
It’s the little things that bring us joy. Your family will always remember the time in the kitchen and they are going to know about freeze drying from a young age. I am so new to this world of preserving but I can’t wait for my grandkids to learn too. Thank you.
You are most welcome and thank you for your kind words.
Congratulations and thank you for your video. It was very helpful 💕
Glad it was helpful!
I came here from The homesteading family. Loving the #freezedriedfebruary
Thanks for joining us here!
I want a milk cow very badly but I'm overwhelmed with all that I need to learn about handling and storing the milk. I'm slowly studying though.
I think you are smart to learn lots ahead, but at some point you need to jump in and experience it first hand. Build up a good few mentors in your area if you can. They have been huge blessing to us.
What an excellent idea! Thank you for sharing, I am kinda excited for this simple dish! 😊
You are so welcome!
Such a wonderful, informative video! Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Living in the southern US, just seeing the wood stove made me cold. Seeing all that white stuff on the ground made me shiver.
Thanks for the hot cocoa inspiration.
Oh we definitely have lots of 'that white stuff' all winter long. Hence the wood stove and hot chocolate!
A jar of this hot cocoa mix along with some freeze dried marshmallows would make a very nice little gift. Thanks for the inspiration!
Totally a great gift idea!!
Loved watching the process from start to finish. What a beautiful family you have
So glad you enjoyed it!
I'll have to try this. I have a dairy farm down the road (30 miles lol) but it's worth the travel to get the good stuff. Thanks for the recipe.
Oh Yes you go to that dairy farm!! Totally worth it. People can't buy raw milk from dairies in Canada. You are very lucky to have access to it.
Love your farm! We've been wanting to freeze milk so this was very timely. Thank you!
Oh excellent. Glad it was helpful
I love hot chocolate and love the convenience of a mix but was no happy with the ingredients and extra sugar. This looks much healthier. This is the first time watching your channel look forward to see more of your videos.
Thank you so much for joining us here! Yes this mix feels a lot healthier without "extra" ingredients and you can adjust the sweetness level to your preference.
Congratulations 🎊 Thanks for the idea of how to use freeze dried milk! My kid loves hot chocolate!
Awesome!
Have been thinking of making hot coco mix. Looks easy enough. Thanks for sharing.
You are most welcome
Great idea. Would like to know how you freeze dried chicken broth. Seems like it would dry up to nothing.
I freeze dry the broth the same way I did the milk. It turns into a powder, but there is still something there and very usable too!
It is so amazing how the whole milk looks when its freeze dried. Thank you for the recipe to make the coco Milk....It looks so good. If you were using regular whole milk to freeze should you add some cream to the milk. To make as creamy as your cows milk. Since fresh cows milk usually have more cream or milk fat in it?
No, because cream lowers shelf life I wouldn’t add more cream to it.
This looks so good! I'm going to have to try it once my cow comes back into milk! Have you tried it with goats milk? I wonder if I would have to run the goat milk through a cream separator or how it reacts when getting freeze dried. I haven't tried it yet.
I did freeze dry goats milk and worked just fine!
Awe! What a blessing! I was wondering when I saw your “build a longer table” mug on one of your posts 😏😆🥰
Gosh, I hope our current table will fit us all for a while yet!
Hello! This was my first time watching your channel. Wish I had a freeze dryer it's all very interesting to me.
Thanks for watching. It's been interesting and fun to have one.
I have a rule for my kitchen, if you are in the kitchen your hands must be washed. I buy raw milk from one of the local dairy farmers but I never thought about freeze drying it and there is a reason for that - my freeze dryer has not arrived yet. Thank you for sharing the hot chocolate recipe with us. Thank you for being a part of #freezeitfebruary. Have a blessed day.
That's exciting to have a freeze dryer on the way!! You're lucky to live where it's legal to buy raw milk!! Thanks for joining us here.
Looks yummy! Thanks for sharing with us and for going us some good tips on freeze drying milk.
You are most welcome.
