Thank you for joining us on this crazy journey! Our family- Kate and Marius plus our five kids, have always enjoyed living a homemade life whenever possible. Moving 1000 miles north in 2017 to Northern BC, Canada upped our game even more. We live on a 34 acre homestead and get a kick out of things like raising our own meat, dairy and vegetables. Theres plenty of failures, you’ll be sure to see those here too. We’re a homeschooling family who believes life is the best teacher but we do hit the books in winter. I’m so glad you’re here, I hope you stick around!
We put out a new video every Wednesday morning! We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

Not a thrift store buy, but a few weeks ago I advertised that I was looking for cowboy boots size 6 (not easy to come by second hand where I live). And the Gods smiled upon me!!! This woman tried to give me SIX pair of real leather, never worn, cowboy boots from top-price brands for FREE! I simply couldn't take them from her for free, they had to be worth a few thousand dollars all together, but she insisted she didn't want them and they were going to the thrift store if I didn't take them off her hands, so I persuaded her to take some hand pies. So I ended up with these fantastic boots in exchange for three fig hand pies! Like what?! Sometimes when you just reach out and ask, you get more than you ever dreamed of.

We are thrifting the decorations for my daughter's 16th bday party 🎉! We are having it in a small airplane hangar and we need lots of candles, string lights, serving platters, fabrics to cover tables (and hide work benches), and photo booth props 😊. It's been fun to find cool unique decorations that no one else will have.

Probably someone has already told you the drawer with the shelves are for typing paper and carbon paper from the old days of office work. I used them and the typewrite shelf when working at my first job in the 60's. Oh my, how I love my computer instead of those old-fashioned things. My next job was a keypunch operator which I'm sure you have no idea what it is but it was another 60's job. Lovely desk though!

Thrift stores telling me what I need is my love language haha! Favorite finds are all my kitchen utensils & pots. I'm always on the hunt for sturdy wooden spoons and one piece stainless steel utensils as well as heavy bottomed pots.

My hubby and I like to thirft shop when we are camping. It doesn't take much to entertain us! LOL The last time we went to a new to us thrift store and I found a really heavy large coffee much with a large flat bottom on it ( won't fall over)! $1.50. AND........I am always looking for a better bread knife to cut my sourdough bread. I love your soft dough bread and have made that but sometimes we just like the rugged bread. I hit the motherload of bread knives!!!! I bought 5!!! Yes, 5!!! and they are all great ones but the best one that can cut through anything and does so well with the bread is actually a frozen food knife!!! Much love to you and yours. Love your videos!!

Not a thrift store find, but did you know about the postage paid boxes with Canada post? Can ship anywhere in canada, how ever much you can fit in the box you purchase. Has the tracking number included. They may have a weight restriction, I’m not a hundred percent sure on that. When you shrink wrapped, the sweaters I was like oh that would fit in a small boxes with other things added. 😊

Love your channel. I only shop the thrift stores, every week on wednesday i go to 2 Goodwill stores in Calgary AB. All my clothes and shoes are thrift store finds. 6 years ago my husband needed a printer, I found a Brother toner printer for $20 and it was a half price colour so got it for $10, two years ago we had a fire at our store and he was going to through it out, I said no and cleaned it up, the first few pages came out dirty but it is still working like a charm. Happy thrifting everyone.

The best thing I can suggest is take a REALLY GOOD look at what you eat weekly, double that then add extra, to make it for two weeks. It just might take you a bit to get it figured out. And sometimes you just do without to make it to that two week mark. And maybe there is the component about breaking a habit as well? Good Luck! You can do it!

Yes, I agree. Sometimes the thrift store tells you what to buy :)! Two weeks ago I picked up a new small couch in pristine condition for $20 at my fav thrift store. I had been on the hunt for this exact thing for close to two years. Patience pays off when thrifting. Also, my family is away on vacation this week and I failed to pack my tennis shoes! I found some brand name and new in my size at a thrift store for $6 which was totally worth it for the hiking we did later that day. I was singing God’s praises all the way through the trails!
