I'm glad more and more people are understanding why I think Persona 2 is my all time favorite game and why Baofu is best character in the entire series.
I played this game when I was 8-9 years old and understood it well enough + I like it more than the dribble-content that came out from the newer games.

While playing through Persona 5 on my first run I was thinking "I get it the whole 'adults suck' perspective, but, it would be cool to see in the next or future Persona, an all Adults cast, to see what themes and ideas they come up with, maybe putting even a elderly person, or a character like Lala-chan on to the fray, that would be cool". They will never do that Idea again will they... Goddamn it
Teen adventures sell more, unfortunately. Persona 2 is my favorite since forever and the fact the protagonists are young adults sold it to me, because I was getting tired of "teenages saves the world" trope. But then came 3,4 and 5 with teens.... I liked Megaten more than P3 and 4.

the boss fight against kandori is HARD AF i beat it on the first try, but it took FOREVER and it was stressful and i switched personas around like nobody's business

I mean technically Persona 3's ending was also melancholic (excluding The Answer/Episode Aigis). Atlus can definitely do it again they just need to stop trying to emulate Persona 4 like they did with 5 and return to the series' darker roots.

damn... i've only ever played persona 4 and now i've finally understood why some people love the persona 2 duology so much more than the later games... there's simply so much intellectual depth and symbolism and i think it hits deeper as well, too bad most people have missed out on this...
I just finished Eternal Punishment today...sort of. I made it to the final dungeon and watched the ending on UA-cam when my save somehow got deleted and I was sent back to the start of the Nanjo route. Still, even though I didn't get to experience the ending first hand, I love this game and if I put Eternal Punishment and Innocent Sin together as one game, it may damn well be my favorite in the series. Thank you Atlus and god bless you Tatsuya Suou, and whatever you endure on the other side

They won't. The creator of Persona left ATLUS after this game. Plus, they don't wanna mess with the guy's vision of his characters. The only reason why the PSP ports exist was because he came back for those ports.
Honestly the original trilogy of persona games are great in their own right. I enjoy their continuity and their stories. As well I like how they are more directly linked to SMT as a whole with the inclusion of demon summoners and real demons. However they are also extremely different in tone and in accessibility to the rest of the series. People like to joke that atlus is purposefully trying to sweep p1 and p2 under the rug and that it deserves all the love and spin offs p3-5 is getting. While I do agree that it may deserve this love I don't feel as though these games lend themselves to the treatment that modern persona games are being given. These games aren't something where you want to see all these characters chill in the velvet room and dance the night away. In these games specifically the velvet room is more gamey and has less of a real personality. It's a room for demon fusion and nothing more. It's funny how the velvet attendants really gave the room personality after 2. P3 barely has a tone and a central focus on the velvet room that allows for us as players to buy that as acceptable in character. As well I feel like people put to much personal stake into the attention atlus puts on different games and game series. People all to often feel a weird abandonment when atlus shifts it's focus to different games. People got mad when P4 was getting spin offs, calling it milking a cash cow and calling it lazy while also demanding similar treatment for the games they personally enjoy, is things like SMT or P3, forgetting the reason they are making spin offs of the newest game in the series increases public awareness of the series as a whole and also buys Atlus time and funds to out into future games. I feel I should also put, I played P1 and tries to play P2. I love their story and atmosphere but man, they really aren't fun to play. The gameplay isn't badm it's very similar to early SMT and Devil summoner games but combat is very complex and get easy. Every time I hit a road block it never was strategy that won a battle, it was pure levels and equipment. By the end of P1 combat was a nonfactor and all I cared about was finishing for the stories sake. It really burnt me out of even trying to get through P2 despite and even better story. The reason P3-5 are so "milkable" is honestly how much more fun they are to play. I never want to replay P1-2 again. I experienced their stories completely. I am done. But P3-5, especially 4 and 5, are fun all the way through even after you get past the story.
The story feels like it was a lot more satisfying without “Eternal Punishment.” Stop with Innocent Sin and it’s just better. But that also deletes the only Persona with a cast of actual adults….
