Another lovely vlog. Congrats on being sea worthy. Tea - I saw you begin your process, one little biscuit, two …. And I said out loud ‘go on, have a third’ and you did 🤩 celebrating all things, life, and biscuits in particular. Have a good week. - Isabel 🇨🇦
Hey Vanessa, thanks once again. It's always a pleasure following your journey. I'm wondering if you might share how you go about turning your journals into books. Do you use a program or send them off to a publisher or what? I have some work that I might like to try to convert into a book but haven't a clue as to going about it 🤔 Thank you ❤
Hi Vanessa - it’s only me - I hope you’ve had a good week and are keeping well ~ unfortunately yet again I’m waiting for the nurses but your notification bell flashed up so I just thought I would pop in and say hello - this weeks been a hard week healthwise but I’m trying to stay positive as possible ~ you said on your title can I handle it? - I believe in you 100% and if anybody can do it it’s you - sending loads of love and hugs as always. Have a great weekend.~ Xxx Xxx
Hi Louise, it must be so hard to stay positive when you feel so unwell, but you are right to do that. I hope the birds are singing by your window and the scent of summer is wafting through? Look after yourself. Take care 🦋🌻
Your latest video in Chester was beautiful. When I come to England I will pop down from Sheffield to Chester and stay a couple of nights with my Thai wife, Last year I took her to York and she loved the wall, I can't wait for your next video, thank you
Hi Vanessa, I've been following your channel for a while. Your focus on nature and adventurous spirit is inspiring. As a cruising sailor I really get it. Thank s for the energy you put in to describing in detail your travel experiences along the canals and rivers of the NW of England. My dad was from NE England and I went to school in the UK, so I have some appreciation of what you are exploring... We also lived in Northwich for a couple of years (army dad). Loveyourstuff!! ....Keep it up. many thanks, AndyB
It sounds like you have lived in many places being the child of an army dad? You must feel like pieces of you belong all over the world!🤩 Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🦋🌻
What a lovely tribute to Mr. Tom Rolt. I really enjoy learning the stories of the people who helped to make the canals into the iconic places they are today. Thank you for the lessons! Also, congratulations on passing the seaworthy test!
Tom Rolt was also instrumental in the rescue of the Talyllyn Railway in Wales. The first heritage railway rescued by volunteers. Thanks to the great man’s foresight.
Your videos at the end of our week are something we really look forward to Vanessa and this was a great watch, as always. I love seeing you aboard Alice Grace, but it's also nice when you take us into such wonderful cities. When it gets to the end and you put the kettle on, Richard and I always guess how many cookies are going on the plate 😋and what you are going to draw. I won this week 😊 Thank you for taking us along with you on another fabulous cruise. Take care 🦋 xx
Hi Vanessa my second wife was born in Chester and the first time she took me there I thought it was the loveliest City in the country. We walked the whole of the Roman wall around the city and drank a glass of wine outside a pub on the the banks of the beautiful River Dee.
Vann, That was a lovely vlog. Superb editing! We watch several narrowboat vlogs and as nice as they all are, yours stands above them all. Your vlogs are art.
Hi John, that is such a kind comment- thank you so much. I really enjoy making the vlogs so it is really special to know how much you enjoy them. Have a super week. Take care 🦋🌻
Hi Vanessa congratulations on passing all the tests for Alice Graces trip on the Manchester Shop canal, you have very worked hard, there was so much to do so well done! Chester looks a beautiful city and great to find IT Rolt s home too. Zephyr certainly had s treat with her new lead :) I loved the seagull and your beautiful music. Thank you very much :)
Hi Vanessa. Loved this video. Chester is my home City and the stretch of the canal near Christleton is near where I grew up. You showcased Chester so well and I’m so glad you enjoyed being there. Thanks for sharing the information about Tom Rolt. I didn’t know about that. Congratulations on passing the certificate to allow you to go on the Manchester ship canal🥰. Take care. Nick
Chester was such a gorgeous stop and I would have liked to have stayed even longer. You have a wonderful home city. Thank you for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
I've only just found your channel, and it's been of value to me to watch it. I've been too long away from good humans. You're helping to bring me back.
I just love the restoration and re-use of places built long ago and and their re-use as places for a very different purpose now. At the moment i am watching a couple of Your Vid's on this topic, that feature this fact while feel very mellow watching the beauty of the canal and surronds while taking it all in. At the same time i'm listening to the CD 'The best of the Midnight Oils', and having a glass or 3 of wine, it is about 10pm here in Sydney, a big shout out to you and thanks loads for a very pleasant evening............Cheers and thanks again from Sydney!!
What a chilled evening- I am so pleased that you are enjoying my videos, but I bet the wine and background music really helps too!Thank you for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Another lovely journey. My favorite time is your journaling at the end of the day. Twice I have now been able to guess what bird or part of the journey you will focus on. Delightful. From New Jersey.
And, Thank you Vanessa for another wonderful video! Love the sunflowers and that you decided to have 3 cookies 😅 they looked delicious. Glad you passed and looking forward to more adventures ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Hello Mindful Narrowboater; That was amazing seeing a herring gull performing worm trickery; it could have been put to music. I think you're very brave venturing on to the tidal waters of the Manchester Ship Canal; I'm sure it will all be fine. Pete Glyde
Good morning !!! Looks like another beautiful day in the UK !! Narrowboat life is so interesting and historical---not much else compares!!! Oh Well---enjoy your day and thanks for the fascinating videos and please give Zephyr a treat for me!! My Yorkie --Gracie Lyn has not been feeling well for a few days, but seems to be pulling out of it---we have put her on a diet---needs it!!! Take care and hope all is well!!!!!!
Congratulations on Alice Grace passing her inspection 🎉🎉🎉. Must have been the extra tea bags 😊 😅 Loking forward to viewing more of your magnificent vlogs and the adorable Zephyr 🐶 🐾🐾🐾🐾
Wonderful & very magical, as always. Congratulations on being sea worthy! I love the way you sprinkle your fairy -dust & make cities so appealing, sparkly & lovely, though as cities go Chester is a good one, but through your eyes & lens, it is really enchanting experience.
Hi Vanessa, for me, this is your most beautiful so far; Chester, the walls and brick, the lovely people along the way, the gorgeous nature captured by your camera, and the music, oh the gorgeous music that tied it all together. Thank you ❤️🇨🇦
I love it when you take us exploring. It’s a real pleasure to any of us who are housebound, although most of us will never get to see all the places we would like to. You are a very interesting tour guide…and so is zeph. Loved every minute.
So tranquil to watch. Great videos of a life I aim for BUT lay off Ellesmere Port, ok? Such a beautiful lady ( and hound and hubby ) living such a beautiful and idyllic lifestyle. I'll be floating on by soon enough. Have a wonderful life.
What a good vlog different speed of life but still found that bird worm treading how wonderful to see 👍 Zeph how posh with your bright red lead 🐾🐾💕 See you soon Ps A dandelion seed floated into my car parked up where I was dog walking & danced about for short while think your friend came to seek me out 💜 my son sends me feathers when he knows I need consoling he’s been gone 19 yrs ( feels like last week) I’ve had testing August so far health issue & had few feathers in various locations
Hi Sue, I’m worried about you. It sounds like you have a lot going on at the moment? I hope your health improves. ❤️ Francesca lost her son too, so perhaps she was seeking you out for some comfort. The pain of such a loss must be so unbearable. I can see why it feels so raw even after 19 years. I’m thinking about you. Take care 🤗🌻🦋❤️
That Heron Gull was Jive walking Vanessa , I heard the song when he was waking or trying to wake the worms . I've been to Chester Zoo a long time ago and it was nice even then. What was that Parade about. I'd guess it was about the people there loving were they live. I hope that knowing all these people turn up to watch your Vlog makes you happy Vanessa , seems only fair as you make us happy when we watch. Your hair is looking beautiful and long and I loved the Hippy Top you wore when you drew in your Diary.
Another wonderful video thankyou - your kingfisher top jolted me to write and celebrate that at last I saw a KF this year, perched and then swoop on a low level run along the Aylesbury arm. Like being blessed by a sunset in memory of loved ones, my late father always said if we ever saw a kingfisher it was him giving a fleeting flutter from the afterlife
Yet again you've given us a brilliant vlog, really interesting, and thumbs up for the marine servayor, all topped by zephyr finding a tennis ball, stay safe 🙏 .
Another totally leisurely and so interesting vlog Chester is such a nice place to visit and you always end with the lovely tea ceremony Fridays for me wouldn’t be the same without it many thanks take care 🐾🐾
Thanks Vanessa, for taking us along on this lovely cruise and visit to Chester, it looked like you and Zephyr like it as she found a new ball and got a new lead. As always your journal is beautiful. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Wormtrickery 😂 well we learn something new every day!! A favourite auntie of mine always used to say "Jolly Dee" when things turned out well so Jolly Dee it is for Alice Grace then! Have good weekend 🐾🌸🦋
Hello Vanessa, I look forward to watching your vlog each week. It’s the perfect start to my weekend. Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures on the Manchester Ship Canal. Happy cruising. Marie
What a coincidence to see your vlog is from Chester because we are going there for the bank holiday weekend. Chester is my happy place, the place I got engaged many years ago and also the place my daughter got married. Lots of special memories have been made there. Thanks for taking us along with you, as usual you showed and told me things I didn’t know. There’s a beer festival with live music on bank holiday Monday at Ellesmere Port, it should be good. I’m looking forward to the weekend away. Take care Vanessa. I’m glad Alice Grace passed the sea worthy test. I can’t wait to see the next leg of your adventure. xxx
How wonderful to have Chester as your special place, Shirley! It is so beautiful there isn’t it? I hope you have a brilliant long weekend away there. Enjoy! Take care 🦋🌻
I live in Chester just by the canal, the walls and the rows. I think I saw your boat moored when you were going to get the lead and I was going to do some shopping but I had not found your vlogs then. Life is strange, hey?😊
Playing catch-up a wee bit, but as I write I am in Chester. Bumped into The Narrowboat Pirate last night, or more accurately bumped into her boat The Rum Wench. Lovely video as always. Thank you.
Thank you Vanessa for another lovely vlog and such lovely weather too. Chester was my favourite City when I was a boy growing up on the Wirral (Pensby next to Heswall) although Liverpool is very close to my heart too. My mum and dad used to take us to Chester and we used to love the cruise boats and the lovely summer evenings strolling along by the footbridge seeing brass bands playing on the bandstand. Further up towards the weir, artists used to display their paintings on the ledges of the sandstone wall sides of the river. Lots of nice memories. I hope that you are doing ok after your sad loss, you are such a lovely person, you always are kind and polite to people. Hope you have a safe week especially if your entering the Manchester Ship Canal take care ❤❤xx
What special childhood memories. Going to Chester must have been such a highlight for you. There was a band playing when I was there but copyright means that I couldn’t play the music. Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care 🌻🦋
I grew up about 10 miles from Chester, and it used to be a big treat to have a day out in that lovely city. I remember as a child standing on the spot on the city walls where Charles I is said to have stood and watched his army get routed at the Battle of Rowton Heath, and trying to imagine what that must have felt like.
Thank GAWD you got those extra tea bags... Thanks for the tour of Chester, I've never been, but will now, what a pretty place. That shot from the green space at 14:20 looking across the river brought back memories of my lovely mum's house in Rye, also an ancient walled town. I guess Rye and Chester are similar ages. Really enjoyed this one. Liz 🙏🐾🦆
I live in manchester and I'm sorry to say I've never been in the centre of Chester (zoo 50 years ago, sales meeting 25 years ago) must rectify, Loved the Gull 10/10 for trying glad you passed the boat test, won the biscuit challenge😊, nice vlog have a good week and stay safe. 😊😊
It’s definitely worth a visit to the centre of Chester! It’s beautiful. Thank you so much for your lovely comments and well done on the biscuit challenge. Take care 🦋🌻
Chester is beautiful. I've thrown more balls for more dogs than I care to remember and I don't think I've seen a dog following and catching a ball going forwards. And with such ease. Zephyr is one seriously skilled catcher. And she loves it ♥ Thanks for sharing, Vanessa
Just think you are amazing ; living in west cork Ireland I am into Sailing love the narrow boats your knowledge on wildlife is lovely makes me want to listen to more ….. Thank You
My congratulations for having everything in order and thus obtaining your technical and administrative approval to be able to continue sailing in those beautiful channels. I like the selection of those fantastic mooring spaces and their permitted time. Greetings from Argentina
I love your attention to detail and the mix of history, nature, and domesticity. The scale of your observations from the minuscule to the massive and your calm empathy are very restorative.
Just beautiful Vanessa 🩷. You really put your heart and soul into these vlog journeys and I love hearing snippets of the local area during your stays. As always your poetry and nature drawings are just pure bliss 🩷🩷. Well don’t to Alice Grace for passing her boat inspection and onwards towards your next adventure, love San xx
Good to see Zephir still walking by your side. Dogs are great company for lonesome operators. Nowadays I'm an occasional prospector in Victoria (Oz) and my oversize Staghound is great company. Personally I believe he's able to speak - though I think my wife is sceptical of his claim. Go well both of you.
I see you are in Chester, my ancestor sailed from Chester to the new world about 1635, Jacob Waterhouse was his name. Enjoy your channel very much Vanessa, your nature journals are gorgeous, calm and peaceful. All the best to you and zephyr on your journeys.
Hi Vanessa , I am still enjoying catching up on your old vlogs , I have just watched Tunnel collision !, sorry to remind you of it . I really love your sense of humour , I think it is quite unique !, and I like hearing your accent , I live down in the south west of Devon so don`t hear your accent very often . Please keep on making the videos Vanessa .
Lovely trip into Chester, so calm, no zipping in at hundreds of miles per hour, done in a day. Gorgeous electric sun, congratulations on passing your sea-worthiness test. On ward to the Ship 🚢 Canal 🌟.
Hi Vanessa, thanks for lovely vlog. I remember going to Chester a long time ago on one our trips home to the Motherland to visit my Grandmother. It was a lovely city and the walls were fascinating, so much history we just don't have in Australia. Glad you passed your inspection, Manchester here we come!!
Lovely vid again Vanessa, the chap who over came his problems along side canal is why we live in a van being inside bricks would finish us mentally with what we have lost nothing beats nature, wildlife etc....... 🙏🙏😻😻
Your creative narrative, video and journal bring so much joy. I am right there with you. If I lived in England I would be on a boat and meet you for a cuppa and a chocolate slice. My shout.
Queens Park Suspension bridge brings to mind how interesting it is to see all the different designs of cast iron and wrought iron bridges over the canals, the rivers, and even the railways.
Hello Vanessa, I just wanted to say a special thank you 😊for your lovely reply to my poems. I'm glad you like them and hope they give you joy. I'm no poet and take care when writing, not to embarrass or offend. Your videos inspire me and are a pleasure to listen to. Once again, thank you. Take care, Andrew xx❤
congratulations on passing inspection and getting the go ahead. i absolutely love your channel, i shamelessly use this as a calming down tool. i am living vicariously via your gorgeous Narrowboat. i am quite near Manchester and i hope you enjoy your time here. Blessings and hugs to Zephyr 💖
Another wonderful vlog Vanessa. Chester is wonderful. We took our narrow boat up there a few years ago and it was magical. Those locks are incredibly deep; we had a group of Japanese and Singaporean students watching us with open mouths as we navigated those locks. Lots of applause and waving when we got through them! That gull was something else…dear little thing doing a flamenco dance! 🥰
They are deep locks aren’t they? It’s always nerve wracking when you have an audience like you did isn’t it? Thank you for your lovely comment, take care 🦋🌻
O sister you are living in another world...slow, peace, green grass, birds, flower...water and of course A cup of tea and 3 biscuits...❤❤❤❤
It is a slow life 🐌 Thank you for watching. Have a wonderful weekend. Take care 🦋🌻

It was Chester pride weekend.
Hi Paul, it was the Chester Pride March. Chester was very busy that weekend! Thank you for such a kind comment. Have a super week. Take care 🌻🦋
How beautiful that your father said that about the kingfishers! Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care 🦋🌻
That is so kind of you, Billy! Thank you so much. Take care 🦋🌻
Thanks Vanessa, for taking us along on this lovely cruise and visit to Chester, it looked like you and Zephyr like it as she found a new ball and got a new lead. As always your journal is beautiful. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Hi Stevie, still got the lead but lost the ball I'm afraid! 🙈 Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Take care 🌻🦋
Wormtrickery 😂 well we learn something new every day!! A favourite auntie of mine always used to say "Jolly Dee" when things turned out well so Jolly Dee it is for Alice Grace then! Have good weekend 🐾🌸🦋
Oh I love that phrase “Jolly Dee’” I shall have to use it now. Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care 🦋🌻
Hello Vanessa, I look forward to watching your vlog each week. It’s the perfect start to my weekend. Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures on the Manchester Ship Canal. Happy cruising. Marie
Thank you so much, Marie😊 Take care 🦋🌻
What a coincidence to see your vlog is from Chester because we are going there for the bank holiday weekend. Chester is my happy place, the place I got engaged many years ago and also the place my daughter got married. Lots of special memories have been made there. Thanks for taking us along with you, as usual you showed and told me things I didn’t know. There’s a beer festival with live music on bank holiday Monday at Ellesmere Port, it should be good. I’m looking forward to the weekend away. Take care Vanessa. I’m glad Alice Grace passed the sea worthy test. I can’t wait to see the next leg of your adventure. xxx
Hijust now I too am in chester also small world
❤
How wonderful to have Chester as your special place, Shirley! It is so beautiful there isn’t it? I hope you have a brilliant long weekend away there. Enjoy! Take care 🦋🌻
I live in Chester just by the canal, the walls and the rows. I think I saw your boat moored when you were going to get the lead and I was going to do some shopping but I had not found your vlogs then. Life is strange, hey?😊
A nice thoughtful thank you Tom at the end Vanessa.
I am so grateful for our waterways. Thank you for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Playing catch-up a wee bit, but as I write I am in Chester. Bumped into The Narrowboat Pirate last night, or more accurately bumped into her boat The Rum Wench. Lovely video as always. Thank you.
Chester is wonderful and how lovely to meet Heidi too! Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Vanessa your stuff is awesome always good
Thank you so much, John! 😊 Take care 🌻🦋
That is really good news. I am wondering about your sea worthy trip. Have a good week-end. Take care xxxxxx
I will post all about it next week on UA-cam. Have a super rest of the weekend. Take care 🌻🦋
Hello, What a lovely job list you have. The area is so green, Brill👍😁X🐰x
Thank you so much 😊 Take care 🦋🌻
Such a beautiful vlog. Your filming, amazing knowledge of nature, beautiful drawings, calm narration etc.😊
Thank you for such a kind comment.
What a wonderful memory from your childhood! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Take care 🦋🌻
Liz 🙏🐾🦆
I really recommend a trip to Chester. Rye sounds beautiful too! Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care 🌻🦋
Loving your posts and travels, blessings to you xxxxx
Thank you so much 😊 Take care 🦋🌻

It’s definitely worth a visit to the centre of Chester! It’s beautiful. Thank you so much for your lovely comments and well done on the biscuit challenge. Take care 🦋🌻
Chester is so beautiful! The parks, the Romans, the wall walk, the river, and, especially, the city bus ride into Wales. Perfection!
It is such a beautiful city. Thank you for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Chester is beautiful.
I've thrown more balls for more dogs than I care to remember and I don't think I've seen a dog following and catching a ball going forwards. And with such ease. Zephyr is one seriously skilled catcher. And she loves it ♥
Thanks for sharing, Vanessa
Zephyr adores catching a high flying ball! Thank you so much for your lovely comment about her. Take care 🐾🐾🦋🌻
Thanks, amazing. ✌🏻👊🏼
Thank you ☺️ Take care 🌻🦋

The only thing I wouldn’t like would be the tea drinking. But everything else seems really very good!
The tea drinking is optional🤩 Thank you for watching. Take care 🦋🌻
My congratulations for having everything in order and thus obtaining your technical and administrative approval to be able to continue sailing in those beautiful channels.
I like the selection of those fantastic mooring spaces and their permitted time.
Greetings from Argentina
That is so kind of you! Thank you so much 😊 Take care 🦋🌻
I love your videos, they are so quite and peaceful that I have fallen asleep, not to worry, I just rewind and watch what I missed.
Lovely vlog and so interesting as always, well done!!
Thank you so much 😊 Take care 🌻🦋
I love your attention to detail and the mix of history, nature, and domesticity. The scale of your observations from the minuscule to the massive and your calm empathy are very restorative.
What a kind and thoughtful comment! Thank you so much 😊 I really appreciate it. Take care 🦋🌻
What a kind comment, San- thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Take care 🦋🌻
Vanessa another lovely vid..xx
Thank you so much 😊 Take care 🦋🌻
Good to see Zephir still walking by your side. Dogs are great company for lonesome operators. Nowadays I'm an occasional prospector in Victoria (Oz) and my oversize Staghound is great company. Personally I believe he's able to speak - though I think my wife is sceptical of his claim. Go well both of you.
Your staghound sounds beautiful. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Take care 🌻🦋
I see you are in Chester, my ancestor sailed from Chester to the new world about 1635, Jacob Waterhouse was his name. Enjoy your channel very much Vanessa, your nature journals are gorgeous, calm and peaceful. All the best to you and zephyr on your journeys.
🤩 What an incredible ancestor! Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋

That is such a kind comment. Thank you so much, Stephen. You live in a beautiful part of the world! Take care 🌻🦋

A narrow-boater making a pilgrimage to the narrow-boaters hero 👍🏻😁🦋
Lovely trip into Chester, so calm, no zipping in at hundreds of miles per hour, done in a day. Gorgeous electric sun, congratulations on passing your sea-worthiness test. On ward to the Ship 🚢 Canal 🌟.

a I truly enjoy the ways you see nature & history and share it 👍🏻👏🏻😁🧐😉
Hi Vanessa, thanks for lovely vlog.

Nature is a great healer isn’t it! Happy travels 🤗 Take care 🦋🌻
Your creative narrative, video and journal bring so much joy. I am right there with you. If I lived in England I would be on a boat and meet you for a cuppa and a chocolate slice. My shout.
How kind, Suzanne! Thank you so much 😊 Take care 🦋🌻
Queens Park Suspension bridge brings to mind how interesting it is to see all the different designs of cast iron and wrought iron bridges over the canals, the rivers, and even the railways.
They are beautiful bridges aren’t they? 🤗🦋🌻

That is so kind and of you, Carl. Thank you so much 😊 Take care 🦋🌻
