Zephyr
As labradors go, this one is special,
I brought her home one day because she's rather clever,
With her great wagging tail,
Like a metronome beat,
I never get tired of her muddy feet,
She's my companion to ride,
As on our canal adventures, we glide,
She loves her toy and brings me great joy,
For she makes my day as I watch her play,
With her stick in hand, a moorning we'll land,
then it's off home for tea,
Zephyr and me. Xx❤

Vanessa, you are a force to be reckoned with and with your companions Able-bodied-Seaman-First Class Zephyr and the HMS Alice Grace there is no stopping you. Crossing such a body of water in a flat bottomed keel boat is something most seasoned boaters would not even attempt. Very impressive my dear. Cherrio! The Admiralty has been notified of your feat.

What an amazing episode, think I would have been pooping myself in that sort of weather, I did the tidal Trent once wasn’t windy like that, I wanted to find someone from Torqusey to Kedbey which I sort of did but as I was facing the wrong way they pulled me out onto the Trent but with the wind and tide coming in I couldn’t turn eventually I did but then I couldn’t see them, I never caught up with them till it was time to come off, fastest I’ve ever been in my narrow boat 40miles in 4hrs haha you were very brave x
There's a deliberate gap in these wind turbines' placement because they found most birds took a specific route in and out of the estuary and so they kept this route clear for them.

Brave Alice and her intrepid crew! As someone who had the privilege to pilot (with a great deal of assistance) US Navy ships, I can assure you that high winds in narrow channels can be as terrifying on a destroyer as a narrow boat. 😬 you all did great!

You seem to have a wild heart that welcomed danger during that fight with the wind , but you came through it all with the smile of a happy teenager.

We very narrowly missed seeing each other as I recently cruised down the Weaver on "The Danny". She is a beautiful ship and a testament to the hard work of the volunteers who restored and maintain her. P.S. I think Zephyr must be part beaver 😂.

My goodness, what adventures! You are very brave to tackle the Manchester Shipping Canal. The river looks much more peaceful and full of an abundance of spectacular wildlife. I'm surprised that those ginormous wind turbines don't disturb the wildlife as I know they can have quite an adverse effect on people with their continuous swishing noise. Zeph following your orders to make her stick smaller made me chuckle!
I heard from another viewer today that they positioned the turbines there to allow for the flight pattern that the birds were taking there which I thought was reassuring. Thank you so much for watching. Take care🦋🌻

The Weaver looked so calm this morning, so dark, like black glass with little bits of mist rolling over it. Autumn draws you in, as much as Spring does. We are so lucky to have such defined seasons.

The Manchester ship canal looked very hard going that day, but you made it, you must have experienced a huge buzz when you got through the lock onto the much calmer River Weaver. My favourite part of this vlog was Zephyr breaking the stick into smaller pieces when you told her to. She’s such a clever dog.
