Thank you for your beautiful vlogs and Happy New Year to you and your family. One of my favourite times spent over 2023 has been on a Friday watching, the wildlife, an artist, a poet, a fellow boater explaining all the wonderful things around us. Thank you xx❤

Vanessa. What a wonderful recap of your narrowboat year - and our happy viewing times too! I spent the whole vlog saying "I remember this" and "oooohhh, I loved that!". I watched with my 10 year old nephew - who is generally incredibly hard to keep interested in anything - but he was gripped to all the information and experiences you shared. It was even nicer for you to mix it in with the London canal experiences - thank you for that! I grew up as a young child and teen, spending my holidays at my grandma's in Little Venice - she lived in those big white flats just behind you - on Warwick crescent - I wonder now if that's where my love for the canals began - without me knowing. Happy new year to you Vanessa, I'm so looking forward to all the viewing again this year. xxxxxxx
Thank you so much for such a lovely comment; I am so chuffed that your nephew enjoyed it too. It must have been wonderful as a teen to visit your grandma on Warwick Crescent- I love it there! Have a super weekend, take care🦋🌻

Thank you Vanessa for such a well thought out and beautifully presented review of your 2023 narrowboat adventures. I was so delighted to have found your channel and your unique take on narrow boating. Exceptional. 2023 was the worst year of my life due to my wife’s unexpected cancer diagnosis. Watching your videos has helped me get through the dark days. As we enter 2024 we are hopeful of a positive outcome and being able to return to semblance of normality. All the best to you, Mr M and Zephyr for a safe and adventurous 2024. 🙂
Another beautiful snippet into your life afloat Vanessa, being an animal lover myself the image of Steph with her paw on you really touched me… the bond between the two of you is truly heartwarming… Happy New Year to you, Steph and your family… I look forward to the upcoming challenges and wonders you will share in 2024… 😊
In the field of narrowboating, your videos and presentations are a quantum leap ahead of the field. Your presentational style, highly informative supplementary material, superb wildlife illustrations make watching your channel a must
Another amazing video, and a very happy new year to you Vanessa Zephyr and family. May your travels in 24 be filled with wonder, for you and all who you welcome aboard.💐🍪☕📔
That was a grand recap of 2023, my nickname at work was Hobbit lovely gesture with your sun flower seeds, here's to an exciting and safe journey through 2024. Happy New Year from Gary n Irene.
I wonder why that was your nickname at work, Gary? Hobbits are wonderful though so it must be for a good reason. Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super weekend, take care🌻🦋

I discovered your channel about 6 months ago. I have never been to The U k, or traveled on a narrow boat… but your videos take me there! Your gentle manner and gorgeous videos are so pleasant, and soothing to the soul! Thank You!🤗🦋
Lovely! And lovely to revisit all those places - realising I had been there with you as all those original vlogs rolled out!!!! So sad about Edith, am not sure anyone these days collects chestnut blossoms but will think of her when I see them next!
Hi Mary, thank you so much for such a lovely comment. It is so sad about Edith isn't it? Apparently, she was having dizzy spells for a while before that. She never knew that her diary would become such a huge success, so it is special that we can all enjoy her wonderful artwork still today. Have a super weekend, take care🦋🌻
That was beautiful! The way you note the special wildlife and the waterway is very soothing and uplifting. You will be bringing a lot of joy to my 2024 as I get to watch your past and future travels.Best of health and safe boating to you and your family.Love this
Happy New Year Vanessa, Zephyr and Mr Mindful. I loved this video, especially the first bit as you were at Shirley, my name. You’ve covered some miles in 2923 and I’ve followed every one of your journeys. I hope you’re staying safe and warm in this very wet, stormy weather. Take care all of you. xxxxx
Shirley is a great place, Shirley! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for following all of the journeys in 2023; I really appreciate it. Have a super weekend, take care🦋🌻
Vanessa,👸🌹 Happy New Years from the USA, Thanks for your adventures on the Narrowboat Alice Grace 🚢exploring the canals of the UK in 2023. Glad the canals are still used and not filled in they are an important part of our history. Love your channel and the Birds 🐦🐦and wildlife 🐌🐌of the UK. Give Zeph 🐶a pet for me. Cheers 🍪🍪☕☕🤵
What a beautiful summary of your canal life in 2023 Vanessa. I found it very emotional that you honoured Edith Holden by the banks of the Thames. Thank you for doing that. I remember being so excited buying her Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady when it was first published in 1977 and have always treasured it. Wishing you and your family many blessings for the year ahead and looking forward to following your canal journeys and nature journal in 2024. Take care. xxx
Hi Rozanna, I am so pleased that you enjoyed the tribute to Edith; she has inspired me and I too treasure her diary. Thank you for your lovely comment. Have a super weekend, take care🌻🦋
wishing you a successful cruise in 2024, we cruised for 9 years from 2003 and loved the Gloucester Sharpness so much we went back 3 times. The boats at Purton are so eerie and beautiful, brought back some fantastic memories. Thanks for your beautiful vlogs.
I can see why you returned 3 times to the Gloucester and Sharpness; it is such a wonderful canal. I am pleased this vlog brought back some memories for you. Have a super weekend, take care🌻🦋
Vanessa & Zephyr this vlog was AWESOME a montage of the year I joined you on Alice Grace my heartwarming vlog THANK YOU for a wonderful 2023 waterway journey of Nature through your filming & art work ❤🐾🐾🫂
Hi Sue, I am so pleased that you enjoyed the vlog and revisit over the year. Thank you so much for all of your support and kindness over 2023! Have a super rest of the week, take care🌻🦋
I love Starlings, I sat in busy Birmingham city centre having coffee and a fresh panini outside the smallest coffee shop in the city and a starling sat on the top of iron chair so I shared just a bit of food and the starling was whistling probably calling all the buddies to come join in but I did notice the bird was also making a clicking sound just felt very special.
What a great starling interaction! My friend’s son raised a starling that was abandoned and it used to sit on his shoulder and it would answer to its name. They are very magical birds aren’t they? Take care 🌻🦋
Thanking you for a great down memory lane vlog and really professional presentation as always. Best wishes for 2024 to you and your family. Look forward to new episodes along whichever canal takes you.
The most inspiring memory of 2023 for me was discovering your channel Vanessa. You had a wonderful year of Narrow Boat adventures and took all of your friends along for the ride. We all Love you and what you are doing. 2024 is waiting to see what kind of adventures you create. Hope you had a nice Christmas and New Year.
How fortuitous that Alice Grace was frozen in so that you, India & Zephyr could explore Tolkein's 🧙♂Middle 🌍Earth 🌳! 2023 had some amazing wildlife: 🦊🦡🦇🦚 🦅 🦉🪶🐛✨🪲 Emojis don't capture all of the ones you mentioned but can only approximate them at best. All in all, it was fun revisiting your favorite moments of 2023 while also you and India toured the highlights of London. Happy New Year! Jenny
Hi Jenny, it was such luck to have been frozen into the land of Tolkien like that and I can totally see where his inspiration came from. Thank you so much for your lovely comment and I wish you a Happy New Year too! Take care🌻🦋
It was such luck being frozen into the land of Tolkien and I can see why it inspired him so much. Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Jenny and I wish you a very Happy New Year too! Take care🥳🦋🌻
Thank you Vanessa for this wonderful experience. II can’t express my surprise and delight when you discovered that you were exploring the woods of Middle Earth where Tolkien…..Tolkien !! played as a child. What unseen Hand, brought you to that place, arranged the weather and a place to rest , “just-so”, Was it the enchantment of Middle Earth? . and that was just one of the events of 2023, you captured and shared with us. i would like to have heard more about the Night of Tidal Bore..I wonder how long it lasted, and I can only imagine how it must have felt,on the boat as the rushing current lifted and tossed the Alice Grace. Thank God you were protected from harm. , I hope all the boats came through safely.❤
It was a very magical experience in Middle Earth; I would never have stopped there normally, but I am so, so pleased that we got frozen in there. The Tidal Bore lasted seconds in the end!Thank you so much for watching. Take care 🌻🦋
Hello Vanessa - A Very Happy New Year to you and Michael. That was a beautiful video, very moving and jam packed with so many memories of 2023 journeying with Alice Grace. I can remember all the different sequences you showed. I can't thank you enough for bringing so much enjoyment into my life during 2023. I'm positive that 2024 is going to be just as good travelling the waterways with you. The poem you read at the end of this video was, in my opinion, the best you have ever written.
Michael, that is such a kind and thoughtful comment- thank you so much. I am so pleased that you have followed the journey for such a long time now and I am so grateful for your support with my channel too. Have a wonderful new year, take care🥳🦋🌻
Your video is just fantastic! The views, fish, plants, animals and all your and all your adventures are so beautifully narrated and illustrated . Thank you from the bottom of my heart and the world!
Such a beautiful journey! Was that guy in the rubber raft trying to show off? I thought he was almost going to throw it over when he went tall end up. 😆😆 I LOVE the train. It is my favorite way of long distance travel here in the US. Oh, WOW "Blinds are drawn during blackout" Historic!! Once again, thank you for a lovely trip!!
Vanessa It’s so cool that your first vlog of 24 started at the place where The Flower of Gloucester ended up at the end of that TV show. Thanks for reminding us of all the best places you visited last year. My favorites were the little shop where Beatrix Potter did her work. Also the Tolkien walk. Hopping we all have a great New Year Steve
Hi Steve, I hadn't thought about the Flower of Gloucester, but you're right! That is cool! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching all the vlogs in 2023. Have a super weekend, take care🌻🦋
I bought your journal from 2022 and love it. I read it, then read it again while watching each vlog entry as you describe it, now I’m reading it again at beginning of 2024. Your description of Edith Holden inspired me to purchase her book The Country Journal of an Edwardian Lady, which was equally enjoyable. So wonderful of you to show me her home. 😊
What a lovely comment- thank you so much! I am so pleased that you bought Edith's book too as it is such a treasure to read through and compare each month with the month that you are in. Have a super weekend, take care🦋🌻
So many wonderful memories form 2023. Thank you for sharing your canal experiences. Stay safe and happy cruising in 2024. Hopefully our paths will cross again on the waterways.❤
Moving around on small tranquil waterways. Abundant nature. Old architecture. Not like that here in Cornwall Ontario. Canada. We almost have to much nature running over all the time. Before Christmas running around different villages i ran over a skunk one night and the next night the same for a bunny and next night a big deer slowly crossing the road. I missed her by not much. Houses lit up like crazy and villages also with tons of lights. Like a wonderland of lights this year more than ever. Christmas displays. Amazing decorations. I probably did close to 1000 miles just checking out the Christmas lights along with a lot of other people in cars doing the or walking. We still have a great canal called The Rideau Canale. Lots of tourists on it. Peaceful but not tranquil. Boat traffic can get quite busy. Waiting lines at the locks. Cornwall is a small city of 50,000 people. I love this city. I was born in Montreal and that's way to busy for me. Millions of people. I really admire your choice of life. Just living.
You have been a very lucky lady to have captured so much wildlife on camera on your wonderful tour. I say luck, but many people create their own luck and you have proved this with your vlogs. I hope you can explore many more waterways this year and bring us all so much joy. If you ever come up the Thames or Wey Nav, let me know. I would love to meet up and show you some bits of our world.
That is so kind of you- thank you so much. I'm sure we'll be back your way one day as it is a part of the system that we really love. Have a super rest of the weekend, take care🌻🦋
Happy new year to you all, Vanessa 💫 Love what you do and the way that you do it 😊 I must go back and watch your London vids - just love the way that it's been regenerated. The Starlings were perfect!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Sadly, when I was in London narrowboating, I wasn't making vlogs then and I really wish that I had now. Have a super weekend, take care🌻🦋
Thank you. Your sensitive touch tells it all. I lived near to Chimney Bridge as a teenager & walked across it almost daily. There were regular working boats on that canal (the Tame Valley) carrying mainly coal from the nearby mines. In the record severe winter of 1963, I was just 17. I saw boats frozen in for weeks, that alone virtually killed the trade & the 2 local pits closed shortly afterwards. I now live near to Great Haywood so familiar with your recent explorations. The stretch of the Trent & Mersey between Great Haywood Junction & Hoo Mill Lock was known to the boatmen as "Kingfisher Cut" so watch out for the now rare flashes of turquoise & red whilst you're nearby.
What a wonderful piece of history you have shared there; how awful that the ice caused so many problems for the boaters though. I saw so many kingfishers at Great Haywood and Tixall Wide which now explains "Kingfisher Cut". Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care🦋🌻
So wonderful looking back over the memorable moments of 2023. Loved seeing some of the London canals and it was a very touching moment as you paid tribute to a very special lady opposite Kew. Thanks so much for all the vlogs, you brighten my week every time. Happy new year to you and the family xx
Hi Paul, thank you so much for such a kind and lovely comment. That is so kind of you. We wish you and your family a very happy new year too. Take care🦋🌻🥳
A Happy new year Vanessa and what a excellent vlog to start 2024 off with 😊, so many memories/high lights of last year how did u dwindle it down with so many to choose from? Let's hope this year brings u the same pleasure and excitement as last year. 😂👍🐕🦅🦆
Hi Simon, I hope you've had a great Christmas and start to 2024? Thank you so much for your lovely comment. It was tricky deciding which highlights to choose from for the vlog as the places that we visited in 2023 all had their strengths. Thank you so much for watching and for all of your kind comments too. Happy New Year and safe cruising! Take care🦋🌻
I know that there's a train station named after my name st pancras but i did not know there's also a lock . Must be a popular name pancrazio thanks for those memories especially of glouester looking forwards for more videos thanks vannessa and take care 😊😊😊
Thank you Vanessa. That's got to be one of the best canal boat videos we've seen (and we've seen quite a few). Your camera work, your drawings and the photos of different birds and animals, absolutely special. Your dog, Zephyr is quite a star. All this coupled with a silky smooth commentary.
A wonderful look back on your year spent upon the British canals and rivers Vanessa. It is my hope one day to live at least part of the year, on a Narrowboat in England. Now, if I can just get the wife to go along with it. As an American, I truly envy and appreciate just how beautiful the canal system is, we have nothing like this in America. Hopefully, one day my dream may come true but until then, I so appreciate your allowing us each week, to join you vicariously in your adventures. May God continue to bless your journeys, may this year find you in good health.
Hi Michael, thank you so much for such a kind and lovely comment. I hope your dream of narrowboating comes true for you too. Have a super rest of the weekend and thank you so much for all of your support with my channel. Take care🌻🦋
A wonderful vlog Vanessa, your gentle and sweetness narrations fill my heart. Some places you visit like Droitwich, the wonders of Beatrix potter, just a couple.
Many thanks for all the great vlogs from the last year. Hope this year is as gentle and full of wildlife.

A Serendipidy moment truly amazing all so well captured thank you
Thank you so much, Lucinda. Take care 🦋🌻
Thank you so much, Ronald for such a kind comment. Have a super weekend, take care🦋🌻

@@themindfulnarrowboatThanks Vanessa!
I was squealing with excitement as you saw the glow worm. I’ll likely never see one but sharing yours was such a joy!
It was such an exciting moment for me, so I’m so pleased you felt the same. Thank you for watching. Take care 🦋🌻

I am so pleased that you enjoyed the vlog; I love train travel too! Have a wonderful weekend, take care🌻🦋
Happy New Year 💖💖💖

Thank you so much, Pauline! Have a super 2024- take care🌻🦋
It sounds simply beautiful where you are.Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super week, take care🦋🌻
Thanks, very well done, amazing. ✌🏻👊🏼
That is so kind of you. Thank you so much for watching. Take care🌻🦋
Happy new year to you all, Vanessa 💫

Take care🦋🌻
Thankyou for the vlogs. My highlight of the year was meeting Zeph in Worcester! Happy New year to you and family.
I am so pleased that you met Zeph! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Have a super weekend, take care🦋🌻

Hi Simon, I hope you've had a great Christmas and start to 2024? Thank you so much for your lovely comment.

Love from Richard xx
