My best comes after taking a full day off, away from pressure, getting lots of outdoor exercise and thinking through how I want to be. I very much wish I could do this in less time as taking a whole day is costly. I suspect it’s possible.

Ok we all know that after sleep and exercise we are more emotionally regulated. The question is how do you regulate your emotions when you don't sleep well or finding yourself in difficult situations?

This approached clicked with my brain so well, and it is as if a lightbulb turned on in a very dark room! The best line is “ADHD is a state, not a trait.” I might have to get a tattoo of that. Suddenly I could see how I can engineer better days for myself, and the barrier in my mind against morning exercise fell when I remembered that the times in my life when I practiced morning yoga, weight training or took a spin class were my happiest and most productive. It is funny how a reframe of something you already know can be so enlightening. Made my list - wish me luck in executing!

Jesus... so everything needs to be perfect for you to be regulated. Well this is real life.

What if working toward my dream is making me too excited? I quit my job a little over a week ago to pursue my dream full time. I have good intentions of getting to bed by 10 because I know I can't sleep past 6. And sometimes I wake up even earlier because I can't wait to get started! Would this be considered emotional disregulation too? To be too excited? Is not getting eough sleep making it harder to get enough sleep? What the heck!? It's been going on a long time, back when I was working all day and pursuing the dream in the evenings. I feel like I've tried everything, so if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

I'm sorry I said some hurtful things under another video. You're really pretty, you look like the blonde mom from Modern Family

I love you and your channel, but this editing is overkill. The audio is not synched and the sound effects and slicing and zooming and and out is just too erratic. Your videos were just fine the way they were. You’re captivating enough on your own. 🤗

What gives you better self- regulation? Figuring out your recipe for self-reg or medication?

Aloha from London! I love watching your videos they are really helpful. Thank you so much. I was diagnosed at 43 a couple of years ago. Is there a further video please as I can’t seem to find it.

  • @mariannegraff

I wouldn't say I've completely "mastered" it (is that a thing? 😂) but I could not agree more! I'm still struggling with learning to work with my brain as a whole, I wasn't even diagnosed until 2 years ago - after learning emotional regulation, but everything was harder before having any concept of it!

What if you do your recipe and someone is really rude at work or a family member hurts you. Then how do you emotionally regulate back to a productive self after those kind of situations?
