That "dead end" at the end of the road is my favorite place in the area. The hill you pass on the right before you hit the succor creek crossing has great blue with white banded agate float. There are some dark blue almost purple seams of clear chalcedony in the ground in some spots, there is also chalcedony/jasper seams 3ft wide at points if you follow the fault line up the hill, and an outcrop of dense chalcedony/quartz laden andesite on the north side of the top of the hill. There is a claim marker on the lower hill with a phone number you can call to get permission to dig on it. There is a little triangle split in the road before the area you stopped in initially, if you go left instead of right it takes you into a few areas that have very nice "classic" graveyard point plume agate. The best spots in that area have claim markers (T23S R46E Sec. 25), but there is plenty of good float on the road that goes through it. The Gem Shop Inc. also has their Beverly Marie claim in the area, I haven't found their claim marker yet or seen them working.
Indonesia? It’s crazy you guys watch my little channel - I love it! The rivers here are too cold right now, but I’ll be headed back in when it warms up 👊🏻
I live in Boise and love to rockhound Graveyard Point. The area I go to is in Idaho, but yes right on the Oregon border. My favorite time is in the Spring after the snow melt and rain have washed new deposits down lower. Glad you had fun 😊
Thanks for hanging out and watching! Funny you say that, there’s actually some incredible material that piles up right by the gravel road. Really bright plume agate, etc
I’m in Boise for a week for work, staying in a hotel. I was looking for places to rockhound in the state and came across your videos. I went exactly where you said you went, and probably left with 60-80lbs of material. It’s just sitting around everywhere! Thank you for suggesting this spot now I have opal in my collection 😊
Spent 3 days there last summer. It was very hot! Found lots of agates and had a great time! I am also from Washington and have scoured many creek beds. There weee so many agates at Graveyard point it was ridiculous! So fun! Thanks for sharing!
I’m outside Boise and have been up that way a few times just to kill a day. Always a great day of rockhounding but also the drive and views are beautiful and quiet…except for the wind. You found yourself some great stuff. Enjoyed coming along with you on your finds. Thanks.
Thanks for checking it out! I’m about 2/3 done with my longest (and hopefully best) vid yet. Editing/recording is tricky on just a phone! Idaho was beautiful. Loved it and did some caving too before hitting UT
Wow so many beautiful agate finds ! The one looked like pearly teeth with agates going around them. So nice looking ! You are in a great area for beautiful agates 👍
Thank you! The whole region from Idaho out to the Pacific has so many different varieties of agate. And you don’t have to withstand Lake Superior to get them! 😅
Grew up literally at the base of Graveyard point and just want to point out that if you come from the idaho side and Graveyard point road the first cattle guard you cross on the main road in is the border if you come from the Oregon side (currently not passable at Succor Creek for normal vehicle) then it's the 3rd guard.
Dude loving the videos and the van life POV. You are super close to one of my old spots where there is so killer blue opal and more. There is also a spot on the side of the road you can find queen stone jasper. Somercamp rd near marsing Killer GY material you have there
Thanks man, that means a lot! I went down Somercamp Rd and found a few agates actually, but nothing BLUE. Damn! I definitely want to hit ID again in the future
@@ThirdPlanetRocks yeah I just posted a short on my channel, it actually some of the blue opal I found there a few years ago. It comes inside thunder eggs.
Awesome finds man. I live 30 min from graveyard point. Next time you're in the area let me know and I'll show you some more spots. I've got one spot where Im pulling nice greenish/blue Agate nodules out of the host Rock not far from where you're at in this video.
Glad you enjoyed! GYP definitely has some better material than what I got hiding out there. I can’t imagine what some of those huge agates that were dug up could be like
@Rockhounding With Griffin - same! And to think that BLM land goes back for a long, long way. Also keep in your back pocket for Eastern Oregon - Stinkingwater Pass. Also another place I want to get to. Supposedly excellent pet wood.
Believe it or not, after watching Nikki Delventhal traveling around the country hiking, I had the same idea as you have to travel around the country looking for rocks and fossils selling what I find to pay for the trips. . Now that I see you have 200 subscribers I'm glad I changed my mind. Anyway I'm subscriber 223, good luck 👍
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve found anything cool enough to sell. Not at least at a high enough $ value to pay for gas, food, life, etc. It’s easy to find a few agates, but it’s hard to find things like gem quality material. You really gotta know the local geology for that. Either way, you should get out and try it! Living in a car isn’t too bad. Thanks so much for watching 👊🏻
Now you have 200 subs :) Good channel!
Thanks for watching - wait until you meet Donna… my 40lb agate I found in Arizona 👀
@@ThirdPlanetRocks Nice! I love rock hounding as well, and have found many nice pieces out West.

@@TH-ui7yr this comment is a complete wealth of knowledge. I’ve got this added to my map with notes for my next visit. Thank you very much!
Thank you!! Hope to get out there this summer. Friends live in Adrian. Thanks for all the great info.
Enjoy it out there! I was battling the cold that whole video. It’s practically desert conditions out there
Hunting agate in the river, you find lots of beautiful agate there, a very promising river. Greetings from Indonesian agate hunters.

It's some pretty cool stuff. I can't imagine the kind of pieces that came out of the rock faces where people were chiseling at the hilltops.
@@ThirdPlanetRocks I looked down below but also went up to some of those rocky cliffs that stuck out, definitely bigger pieces up there 👍
@@MegaDeathGiver I’m jealous. I gotta go back 🙌
So glad you got some fun out of the vid
Thank you!!!!
Glad it was helpful 👊🏻
Nice video Griffin! Thanks for taking time to make it and for the useful directions. Well done!
Of course, thanks for watching Dwain 😎

that stuff can tumble and polish really nice.
That's what I'm hoping to get to further down the road. I'm looking to get a saw in the next couple of months
just north of Madres ore. is the pridey ranch. where the most famous plume agate is found. I love what your picking up right now.
I just looked up those agates from Pridey Ranch. Apparently they’re hard to come by these days. Beautiful material!

Graved yard agates are awesome!
The plume agates especially have so much detail when looked at up close.
There’s some massive ones that come out of there if you look for long enough

Whaaaaaat that’s wicked. Didn’t know those colors were even an option here.
I’d totally take you up on that if I can get back out to OR 👀

ahh man i gotta check this out ,still cant believe ive never been there

great scenery. how often do you come across arrowheads?
Arrowheads… honestly none yet. If you do find them, I think they have to be left there if I’m not mistaken. At least on public land.
you might want to get an ultrasonic cleaner for your smaller pieces
Would something like an ultrasonic dental spray-flosser work? I.e Waterpik
