    things like these are very helpful but during real accidents, people tends to panic and forget everything they learned. Swimming isn't just about learning to swim but to also learning to overcome your phobia/fears of water and focus mentally

      This is me right now. I'm just learning how to tread water. As soon I begin to sink I forget everything and panic. It's hectic. 😭 I wish I could easily get over my aquaphobia

      my teacher said you have relax your muscles in deep water that will help you to float better.

    This video on egg-beater sculling is very well explained. Thanks for taking the time to do it. I'm just starting off ... first got started sitting on a noodle ... and I didn't get such detailed demonstration .. Now I think I'm better prepared to try it.

    simple and direct. . .tnx. . .i know to swim in just a bit distance only on shallow water hahahaha i didnt attempt on deep water bec. i dont know how to float(tread water). . .as much as i want to enjoy swimming. . .i envy others coz they learn it naturally. tnx God there is youtube and chanel like this.

      Yeah don't put yourself in danger until you can keep yourself up in the deep water! Yeah some people are more natural floaters and can pick up the technique very easily. But keep working at it and you'll get there in the end! Good luck!

    My treading water looks eerily similar to waterboarding...
    I'll try your techniques; the kickboard sounds nice. I never sculled on my back.

    Many people knows swimming but technically they don't have proper treading skills. This is very useful.

      It is hard to know why exactly this happens without seeing your kick, however the best things to do are; to have a wide base so position your body in a way so that you look like your sitting in a chair, ensure that your legs are constantly kicking, and use the sculling motion with your hands to assist with your kick.

      Swimproving if I kick like this violently, I’ll stay afloat for a mere 20 seconds. I need to do this for 5 minutes. How do I build up muscular endurance to keep treading? My leg muscles get pumped and tire way too quickly

    It is more comfortable for me to move my legs in a blender but on the opposite side of how they teach there it is, is that the same?

    I can't even do this in shallow water. I am really struggling with this. Front and back float is easy, but when I do it upright, my body automatically tenses up.

    Threading water and swimming with my head above the water are my hardest obstacle rn 😆 I can swim freestyle and breast stroke with head in the water, but can’t thread water 😅

    I can manage to lift my feet off the ground, but my head is also in the water (I am in the middle of water). Any idea?

      It may be that your kick may not be strong enough, so if you have access to a noodle put it underneath you (like you would riding a horse) and practice trying to keep your shoulders out of the water, the noodle will help keep you up in the water and then all you have to do is work on the technique and strength of your kick. when consistent this should then mean your kick is strong enough to perform without support.

    feel like when i'm treading i have to go really fast, flailing almost (or more doggy paddle style) to actually have it work well enough. guess control and such comes with time?

    I am 37 and still can't do this. I've had people work with me and I've gotten the techniques right enough only to repeatedly be told, "that looks perfect, this makes no sense, you should be staying up but you juat go straight down. I don't know what to tell you." I think it's just the way my body is built. I've spent a lot of time in the water and love it so much, I desperately want to scuba more than anything, but I can't keep my head above water to save my life. Literally. 😢

      can you swim? you don’t need to thread water for scuba. you will have your BCD either way, so for emergency swimmung is enough.

    I can never tread water, I remember taking lessons and they always say bicycle kicks. I found it waste too much energy and I end up sinking. I have no problem however using a slow breast stroke and frog legs to stay afloat for days. The egg beater makes sense, it's almost like an alternating half frog leg. Gonna try this next time in the pool.

      Depends on your boyancy. People with less muscle mass can float without doing much.

    I want to learn thread because i want to be part of philippine army you need 30 minutes in the water after 30 minutes the instructor will drown you so I need more intense knowledge

      Okay, well work on them individually. The Leg technique is more important to learn as this will be able to keep your head above the water on its own. The sculling motion can just be put in occasionally until you are able to use both at the same time.
