This is fucking legendary. Perhaps one of the best videos of the year i've seen on UA-cam. There's something really surreal about the whole situation. Chance is playing a game, listening to an in-game radio. It's real, as we can hear ads. It's pretty great. Then we find out it's live. Chat works it's magic, finds the station, drops some jokes about Chance starting his first day as head chef. Fucking amazing. 10/10. To then have the station get even more involved and keep the whole thing going, proceeding to watch the stream and roast his skills or lack thereof is legendary. It's so fucking funny. Their professional radio manner interacting and explaining what they're seeing just sounds so fucking funny man, I don't know how to explain it better. All the confused locals, just thinking about it....people on their daily commute, finding out about Twitch and Sodapoppin for the first.
My favorite part was how the gentlemen, obviously a bit older than your typical twitch viewer, instantly got it. "He does what we do on the radio with music, only with games over the internet..." That's exactly true and instantly made me like and relate to the guys. They were give him a bit of shit, which they could see he was smiling about without taking offense, and treated it like a wonderfully silly event. They never got upset by the weird situation and figured out pretty quick they weren't the butt of a joke. It was just a strange coincidence that no one intentionally caused. If I were betting I'd say a few people sent them shitty comments but that comes with dealing with the internet at large. There will always be a few assholes but evidently the majority were at least cool about it. Chance enjoyed it, chat enjoyed it, UA-cam enjoyed it, Beyond Radio enjoyed it and I would assume the listeners of the broadcast were probably enjoying it. Even if a few curmudgeons were grumpy about it interrupting their music and DJ's they were probably the minority. It is one of those things that harms no one, makes thousands of people happy, and, at its absolute worst, irritated the easily irritated. That's a huge amount of positives added to the world in an way that's impossible to explain if you were talking to a space alien who doesn't get Earth customs. It's just something that doesn't normally exist. If this had been planned it wouldn't have been as cool. The way both of the respective on-air talent handled it spoke volumes about them, too. Chance's first concern was that his audience was respectful and that the radio station was okay with what was happening. The DJ's hammed it up and rode the wave without getting shitty and making great jokes about it. This is one of those mood changing videos I watch from time to time. If you're down or just having a bad day, this will force you to smile. It's like a pleasant crow bar to a frowny face. I can't fully put into words how much I enjoyed this. I'd love to see a follow up or an interview with the hosts and Soda but if that never comes to be, I'll just be glad it happened at all.
