Interlagos is a fan favorite track that has been rare in other racing games until Gran Turismo Sport but has always been available in Formula 1 games.
For this F1 game evolution video series I looked at more than 40 different games that were released on PlayStation systems and 39 of them made it into this particular video.
Many of you will know the annual F1 games by Codemasters that have been released on PC, PlayStation and Xbox since 2010 but there were also many official F1 games before that.
The first F1 game by Codemasters actually came out in 2009 already but it was exclusive to Wii and PSP. And in 2000-2003 there were multiple official games per year, with EA's F1 series and Sony's Formula One series competing against each other.
Note that the PS1, PS2 and PSP games are played via emulator, which improves their resolution but can lead to some texture bugs that wouldn't happen on actual hardware, especially with the PS2 games, so keep that in mind when judging the look of the games in the video.
Which Formula 1 games have you played yourself and which ones were your favorites? Share your personal thoughts and stories about F1 games in the comments. And what do you think about the different renditions of Interlagos throughout the years?

2:45 tom and jerry scream
😂😂😂😂😂
Ahahahahaha😂 this sounds so bad
It's funny how in some games the large city of São Paulo in the background is replaced by a mountain valley with forests
The good old days when we could have THREE separate games based on the same season
Yeah. That was great, no EA Sports monopoly
It's almost like monopolies are bad or something
@@noivern8869 no way
More competition than actual F1 then 😂
... and now we have the same game since almost a decade
there's something amazing about the PS1-PS2 generation: some PS1 games did the Senna curve better than some PS2 games despite the huge graphic evolution leap PS2 had. The track looks like something else but not Interlagos.
Also colours on most PS2 F1 especially earlier looks horrible
Fórmula one 99 its the best from ps1, i live near the track, have been there so many times, in the PS2 the best one is p5
f1 2006 was amazing
The F1 games from the N64 are missing. Both had really good graphics for that era, with good physics, good handling. Loved it as kid.
I can’t believe that PS2 would not add the curbs .. it was criminal.
Emotional
Grand Prix Challenge was so ahead of it's time. Great handling and graphics
F1 '96 is the game I bought when I got my system. I'm still amazed they released it in the US
I love that my memory of the 97' game was that it was so realistic feeling and looking. Now watching it, just driving towards a sky box while the track tries to load. Still had a lot more fun with them than the current games
Championship edition was such an underrated game. The camera position choice here doesn't really do it justice but in cockpit/ t cam view it's stunning even today!
That motor cry in 2015-16 was the worst.
my favorite corner too, you can easily figure that some games are approximatives.
F1 2000 championship season (ps1) is probably the best game of F1 ever made
F1 Challenge tbh
GP4 Is better
Super Monaco-GP
Agree
F1 97 was the game I grew up with. I'd love to play it again one day, haha, just for nostalgia
its very easy to play it
sounds were spot on back then
The PS1 formula 1 🏁 are the best, unforgettable, the sound 🔊 of the cars, the memorable narrations ❤
grand prix challenge is grand prix 4 adapted to ps2, the only of the entiere series on console, i never heard about that game, it looks great!
2:36 PERFEITO!!!
Can’t believe they got rid of the heat haze from the exhaust
I recently got Formula 1 05 on PS2 for the sole reason that you can use the EyeToy to scan your face and make a custom driver with it lol
Interesting to see how much evolution we used to get within a same generation back then
F1 2009 always looked weird to me. Like the wheels turned too far and it looked like the cars were drifting
it would be much better if the track continued continuously with every next game
2000 :
how many f1 game would you like ?
developers : YES !
f1 06 ps3 version has to be the better and best sound of all f1 games
F1 2012 my beloved
I've spent my best racing hours with GP2 (most of them), GP3 and GP4.
still amazed how there are no F1 2008
f1 22 the best for me
F1 World Grand Prix is the predeccesor of Warm Up?
accurate
+ sony
+ infogrames
+ codemasters
unaccurate
- lankhor
- ubi soft
- ea
- sumo digital
Your unaccurate is inaccurate BTW 😂
"Vamos pra curva do S de quem , de quem ? Senna tan tan tan...
Tan tan tan "
2019 top
2:45 telesp cellular, how nostalgic, too bad, telephony in Brazil was state-owned and rubbish, a telephone line could even be included in your will because it was so expensive
Somente no World Grand Prix de 1999 do PS1 que fizeram a curva correta como ela é realmente.
Good video, but the best Formula One series from Geoff Crammond is missing. That's almost ridiculous, because you show a very long list of games, but leave out the best of them all (maybe not of the newest later than ~2010).
I haven't played any of the Geoff Crammond games.
which F1 game do you enjoy the most?
Hard to say. There isn't really any one game that is much better than all the others. Many of them are solid and then a few of them are not so great.
F1 2000 and F1 challenge 99-03
F1 Career Challenge 99-02 from EA?
What about it?
@@Paragleiber it's missing. The same goes to Grand Prix 1-4 from Microprose.
@@danielsoares4737 I know that. I am the person that made the video, lol.
formula one 06 ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I already miss 20 to 22’s clean and simple HUD with the rev lights, ERS/DRS, and throttle/brake inputs. This year’s HUD looks atrocious
2000 é top
You forgot the GP Series mon
You are wrong. I didn't forget it.
@@Paragleiber really mon? So...tell me where is GP4 there
@@fliperchines It's not there at all. But that doesn't mean that I forgot it. It was never a part of my plan in the first place.
@@Paragleiber oh, so..since you didnt put there GP2 and GP4, you let out one of the best (if not the best, in realism, skill req and driving evolution) F1 series from 96 to 2000's because "it was never part of your plan"? Ok laddie
@@fliperchines No idea if it's one of the best. I don't even own any of those games and I never played them. You shouldn't assume that every UA-camr has played every single game that exists just because you played it.
Man some (most?) of these absolutely butchered the curve
I noticed it, the first game to get it semi right was the 2010 one, everything before it is shit.
Either the 2015 or the 2016 nailed it for the first time, to think that it took 2 decades to get it right.
Grand Prix 4?😏
What about it?
@@Paragleiber one of the best F1 Games
Im impressed of the PS1 graphics. It is an emulator right? Ps1 had worse graphics
Yes, the PS1, PS2 and PSP games are played on emulator.
99 is a downgrade for 96-97-98 🤣
6:29 - Worst F1 sound ever! Captured inside a tunnel🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lmao I’ve watched all of these evolution videos with the F1 games and every time it gets to 24 I literally crack up at how dog shit the engine sounds are. They sound like if an f1 car was mentally handicapped with a respiratory infection.
Not a big evolution...
Bizzare how someone this dedicated to making this sort of video uses chase camera
Why? What is bizarre about that? Chase cam is the camera that most racing game players use.
@@Paragleiber in F1 game? You can't be serious, never met anyone who has. In other arcade games like NFS or whatever sure but not in F1 games
@@Paragleiber I honestly have never seen anyone play chase cam in F1, I guess chase cam is more a casual racing game thing, while sim racers use either Cockpit or TV Cam
@@smad66 Well, even if you think that it isn't common, what is wrong about it though? You make it sound as if there is some kind of discrepancy between me being dedicated and me using chase cam, as if chase cam is somehow inferior in some way. But why would it be inferior? And why would the same thing not also apply to NFS? I actually have the best control over my car when using chase cam because it allows me to see exactly what the car is doing.
@@harmsy1296 I wouldn't say that it's casual. It's also used by very competitive gamers. For example when Forza Motorsport had esports tournaments all the top players used chase cam. I guess it might be related to the input device. If you use a steering wheel, then chase cam is quite unintuitive. But if you play with gamepad, then it's very intuitive. Maybe most competitive F1 players use a wheel. And like you said sim racers will also not use chase cam of course, as they are looking for a realistic experience. I am not a sim racer though and I also don't play with wheel. For me chase cam feels just as normal and intuitive in F1 games as in other racing games. And why wouldn't it? I don't see what would make F1 games any different from other racing games in that regard.
F1 98 was the worst game.
Evolution? It looks the same.
PS2 colours here 🤢
Buuu only playstation PC games, dislike
Nowadays F1 is garbage.
