      They don't know how to find the data/archive files even if they would delete the search history but many don't even understand to do that which is actually a good thing because it makes it easier to prove that they have been thinking about it in forehand and therefore can't claim it on accident. Followed this case from Gannon going missing and you were way too kind to this monster. The candle incident was in my opinion an atempt on Gannon's life by Letecia but the alarm went off and she panicked or something went wrong but she deffo tried to set him or his bedroom on fire and save everyone but him. however it failed But he did get burned in the attempt and she filmed a fake vid of him crying and her gaslighting him thinking it would make her look caring, it failed big time and made her look even more vile and guilty. She also did a back to camera interview where she bleeted on about how wronged she was and how she wanted an apology and oh yeah err tiny little bit about Gannon that painted her as stepmom of the year. She is a Narcasistic pyschopath who resented Gannon as he was Al's ex's kid and got more love and attention than her. He was born premature and had issues from this. You missed out that she also googled "I HATE MY STEPSON" and showed no remorse for what she did at all, She killed him to hurt the parents. She is VILE!!

      @@patriciaporten9517 The thing is she mixed truth with her lies and at one point said she "jumped on him to put out the fire" but I reckon she actually jumped on him to start the stabbing and killing. Whatever way you look at it, we'll never know what hell, that Witch unleashed on this poor boy in his final hours. I believe when she was caught taking him out on the cctv she had drugged him and intended to kill and dump him then as she drove about seemingly looking for "dumping spots" but something didn't go to plan she brought him home to do it. But As true crime cases go this one really stuck with me and THAT THING just to look at or hear it talk and try wriggle out of what it did, just....eeeh it makes me shiver! We don't use term half sister or half brother because they are whole human beings. I love all the children and they all get a hug from me whenever they want to. I also am now a step granny. I feel joy when they are happy and enormous sadness and worry if they have difficult time and they can always come to me to talk if they want to. It blows my mind how you refuse to educate yourself on the topic of DID, Dr. Grande. For someone who stresses the importance of flexible thinking, you're failing to practice that here. A great resource for you and anyone who is willing to learn about DID should look up the CTAD clinic. It is also absolutely insane to say that clinicians just want some drama in their practice, especially considering how few clinicians are actually trained to deal with dissociative disorders. Many clinicians are either afraid of those who have the disorder due to the stigma (as seen in this case) or they are under equipped to handle it. Getting proper treatment for a dissociative disorder is very difficult, yet you make it seem like it's a trip to Lala Land. This is a disorder brought on by recurrent child abuse from which the child has no escape and no reprieve. Is that really the disorder you want to continuously shit on? Really?

    It amazes me what criminals think people will believe. She met a man randomly one day and gave him the code to her garage the next? And then she tries to turn the situation around and make herself the victim. I’m glad she’s in prison. As far as DID goes, I remember reading The Three Faces of Eve and Sybil as a kid and thinking wow, it’s amazing what the human mind can do. But even then when I was fairly young I found some aspects hard to swallow. I heard about Billy Milligan and it made me really uncomfortable. Even when reading Sybil (I was around nine years old I guess) I thought it would be easy to claim this disorder to get away with something. Then when I was 14 or so I read this book called When Rabbit Howls. It was so implausible that I became pretty skeptical about the whole disorder. Thanks for covering this Dr. Grande.

As a clinical social worker who did initial assessment, I've had clients tell me they have DID but never witnessed anything to prove it. So I have always wondered. And there are also dissociative fugues that can happen under extreme duress, but I understand those are fleeting. I thought from listening to her phone conversations that she has at least one personality disorder, but didn't believe for a second she had DID. No one else had ever observed her so called alters? Letecia's statements about the candle incident are inconsistent. One has Gannon causing the fire by using the candle, the other has him asleep, and the candle caught material on fire. I think she purposefully set the fire hoping to kill Gannon and not be blamed. She took the other child and went out of the house, conveniently leaving the boy alone in the basement. THEN it dawned on her to go back and get him. I hope all the prison mothers who miss their children and long to be with them again, make her welcome.

    • @farrahfeathers6668
      @farrahfeathers6668 Рік тому +23

      @ calendarpage I agree with your statement wholeheartedly. I believe that Letecia gave Gannon the Hydrocodone so that he would be drowsy & possibly OD. I think she then lit the candle & dropped it on the carpet with the hopes that it would set his bedroom on fire & kill Gannon. When that didn’t work she unfortunately had to cover up what she did,as Gannon had burn marks on his arms & she knew he would tell his father and mother the real story. Letecia is an evil monster & I pray that the rest of her miserable life is spent looking over her shoulder for the other women that would love a go at her.

    • @80kokoro
      @80kokoro Рік тому +9

      Yes I agree and I think in order to place blame for the fire on Gannon and direct suspicion away from herself LS made the video of her admonishing him for starting a fire and burning the carpet (I can't think of any reason she would have filmed this event, which made her look like a dreadful sadistic bully, other than she thought it would direct blame for the fire away from her). I guess the reason for the overkill with then bludgeoning, stabbing and shooting him was to make sure he didn't survive her next attempt on his life. I think her motive was to get rid of Gannon whom she resented, hurt his mother and her husbands ex-wife whom she hated, and play the part of a grieving step mother to garner sympathy/attention.

    As a person diagnosed with DID just trying to live my life as best as I can, I HATE people like that. Why do they so often use this aweful condition to live your everyday life with as a free out of jail card? This is why I told about DID less than 5 people outside of the mental health specialists that work with me. Duh! I never hurt anybody on purpose, but still those people make all of us with this disorder look like a bloodthirsty murderers or at least master manipulators that will hurt everybody for fun
    Ps. To answer some of the things said at the end. They did a study where they had a group of people with DID and a group of actors and both groups had to "talk" like 2 different alters, they redid the same thing a month or so later and actors changed minor facts or forgot some parts or very often overexaderated symptoms after the first interview, but in DID group it was consistent and stable.
    The thing about concept behind DID is that it was done with a very small group of DID patients and with only one way to "solve" DID. In reality most systems start off as very closed off and slowly through hard work can break down bariers between eachother.
    About it being just very high mood swings - it really isn't like that, but a lot of people think it is like that for some wierd reason, we can have our own seperate memories. I don't remember anything that happened in preschool, but N. remembers it. I may hate strawberry milk with all my soul, but still X. only likes milk when it is strawberry milk. I am left handed, while S. is right handed. I don't have an alergic reaction to cats, but B. has severe cat alergy, ect.
    If you or anybody have any questions feel free to ask and I'll answer the best I can (if they are not blatantly rude)

      Why are you laughing? As a mental health professional, you should know that alters can switch quickly. You should also know that some people with DID can control when they switch because they are “co-conscious” with their alter.
      Maybe she _was_ faking it. I don’t know because I wasn’t there. ..but the evidence you’ve provided thus far isn’t enough to be convincing. In fact what’s more convincing is that, like you said, she was officially diagnosed by people who actually did understand the disorder.
      It’s not surprising that back then, you didn’t believe her. You said it was your first encounter with DID - so you wouldn’t know how to assess the situation. I’m wondering why you _still_ think she was faking. Have you not learned more about DID since this happened?
      I’d suggest watching the MedCircle video on DID - specifically the one called “What it’s like living with dissociative identity disorder”. When you see the woman switch to her child alter, it may make you reconsider how you felt about that patient.

    Step /adopted children are often at risk of child abuse, neglect and even murder by the non-biological caregiver, we even see this in fairy tales such as Snow White with the wicked stepmother.
    This is because of several reasons, no biological/emotional bond, their needs dominate the relationship ,and so on. When dating someone with kids elsewhere that kid is always going to say "you're not my mom/dad!" and I think that this is the case here and she lost it
    It would be interesting if Dr Grande could analyze the effects of adopting and step parenting , these children are more likely to be victims of crime, but also perpetrators of crimes as well.

DID has now become a trend, just like so many other psych disorders, which actually doesnt help those who actually suffer with real issues. The mental health community has fought the stigma for years that mental illness is real, and in some instances unable to be controlled by those with certain disorders, only for a bunch of kids to start faking the worst of these disorders because its trendy to be "neuro-divergent" now. Its sad and many of these kids are old enough to be put in their place because they are causing actual harm by perpetuating a long held incorrect assumption by many in this world that mental illness is fake or can be controlled by the person afflicted.

    Why do people ever try to defend killing a child. There’s never going to be an acceptable reason

    I’m a psychiatrist; respectfully you did get DID wrong. Like everyone else, I did not think DID (formerly called multiple personality disorder, which is probably more accurate) was real until I saw someone switch in my office. Then like every other mental health clinician (MHC) who has this experience, I began researching it like crazy. It is uncommon, but more common than you think. But most MHCs don’t look for it or consider it.
    The treatment of SID involves getting all the personalities to paddle the canoe in the same direction. I actually think she probably does have DID and when she switched “back” to her dominant personality, she had a mess to clean up, literally and figuratively. She did not have much to work with there.
    Alters can share memories. Part of therapy is fascilitating that.
    Lots more could be said, but the most important thing is that DID is not a criminal defense. The alter that committed murder knew it was wrong. Again: part of therapy is reinforcing with each alter that every alter is responsible for the behavior of every other alter. They are not separate people: they are separate parts.
    Finally everyone who has DID has a history of severe abuse, often torture, at some time between the ages of about 3 and 8. This is the only window of time when someone can “wall off” a part of themselves so they don’t have to constantly think of or remember the abuse they are suffering from. The whole case is terrible and tragic beyond words.

      I'm so glad you've commented this, was so disheartened that Dr. Grande said this about DID. The splitting of the brain due to severe repeated abuse under the age of 8 is a very real phenomenon, especially in children who have suffered repeated ritualistic abuse within these years. Also there have been brain scans of people with DID that have shown how completely different areas of the brain are used, depending on which of the alters is fronting. I think its so harmful to so many people with the disorder to state that it is not a real condition.

    Thank you for this analysis. I think the various things she did to this poor boy shows how loathsome she is. Not satisfied with a blunt object to stab then shoot this poor soul conveys a deep dark evil. Her evil is in her eyes - dead.

Again another liar who is seeking attention only for themselves. Peace to you & yours my friend, love, Janine Smiley👞👠👟👡💎💄🎩📿💄💅✌👍👋😇🙂😉😍🤩🆒️💯❕❗

    Hola Dr. Grande, can you take a look at Eugenia Cooney? She is still alive and we are very concerned about her health (ED). Her mom doesnt seems to help her and we dont even know how is she still alive. Can you give us some tips on what’s the best way to help someone with extreme anor3xia? We dont know if complementing her or being cruel is the best way? Thanks.

    I never thought about it. But if DID is real, and one of the people/alters wanted to commit a crime, then probably all of them would be guilty, because if any of the people/alters knew about the plan to commit a crime, they would have had a responsibility to turn all of themselves in.
    I feel dizzy just writing all of that.

    They ruled out that there was any fire created by accident. She set that up to cover up blood in the living room. They also ruled out that he had any kind of stomach problems. That would be due to talking to his siblings and Gannon's conversation with his parents. Leticia definitely did something out of anger on Sunday. New it was bad and that Ganon would tell his parents she was so worried about what any and everybody thought about her and being better than Landon that she had to kill him to cover up whatever abuse she inflicted on him on Sunday night whether on purpose or on accident. She mentioned many many times that she jumped on him over and over and that she caught him on the switch She caught him on the switch overreacted and harmed again grievously on Sunday could not have anybody knowing what she did the only way to cover it up was to get rid of Ganon and it's disgusting

    I think DID exists in the way that some people might undergo a personality change and amnesia during episodes of dissociation and may believe that they are a different person during those times due to some additional factor. They might have a few repeated personas that they shift into during episodes of dissociation, and maybe some people do have some memories of their episodes, but I think they ultimately are just periods of combined dissociation and delusion. I also think it is much more rare than a lot of people think.

    Having grown up in a home with a cruel, sociopathic parent, I guess I've acquired a skillset for spotting all the disgusting faces of narcissism (or maybe it's coupled w/ being an artist that's made me hyper-observant). So, maybe it's not obvious to everyone as quickly as it is to me, but I do wonder with this case what it was exactly that attracted Al to her in the first place. Despite knowing what she did to Gannon, everything about her personality (RE: the stuff we saw before she ever went the "insanity plea" route) was repulsive, imo. I saw what she was right away and was disgusted by her after only listening to her for 5 mins. I wouldn't sit next to someone like her in a lobby if it meant I had to talk to her at all, so... wtf was Al thinking?? My only guess is that 1) AL is a very sheltered, overly trusting, naïve person, and/or 2) He was willing to look the other way on her obvious narcissism bc it's possible in some way he was looking to marry a nanny. I'm not trying to attack Al nor in any way defend that c*nt, but I do know there are ppl out there who will make a lot of exceptions about someone to marry for the convenience it brings. Anyways, one thing is certain, whatever his reasons were, he definitely choose poorly. It's a tragic lesson about the serious risks you're taking when you choose to invite ppl with this toxic disorder into your life, esp. when you're involving vulnerable children.

      I get what you're saying, but my experience was very different. My parent was extremely charming on the outside. My opinion is that Al probably knew she was manipulative, but not dangerous (in a physical way). I also suspect that he thought that he was her "target" & not any of the children (that goes back to my personal experience as well) It's easier for people like us to spot it because it's how we survived.
