Thanks Elijah! Most of these are very solid tips. I would exclude the tip about texting the customer. In my experience, it's too much and has led me to get far too many one stars. Only text when it's imperative: if the restaurant is running late, if there is a substitution that needs to be made, or asking for gate code etc. Asking for ratings works, but it also pisses people off...and encourages those that are already upset about something outside of our control to go and take it out on you, the dasher.
Customers already know where you are during the process and whats going on with their order (most of the time)

I think you dont. Just notice which restaurants arent getting the order right and dont take orders from there for a while.
I thought I would be delivering meals. I ended up carrying 60 pound cartons of water (three on them) up the stairs to a second floor apartment along with other bags of groceries. I thought delivering entire orders of groceries was Instacart and similar services. I got my start up kit a week after I started. I was running orders that required a hot bag. I used a postmates hot bag a friend lent me while waiting for the door dash bag.
Doordash has so many requests, I sometimes wonder how they are able to fulfill them. I agree with you about taking the food from a hot bag, contacting the customer, it really helps with your ratings 👍
I don’t think I’d want to have that type of communication if I got a delivery I just want the food quick with the sauces (big one for me) and a friendly drop off note.

Thank you so much. This really helped me out. I have a background in food and customer service so D.D seemed interesting. I started and after (only) 38 deliveries I only had 2 reviews. One 5-stare and one 1-stare. and you know what that did to my rating. I did figure out why I got the 1-star, I was picking up fast food and received a message from D.D. to please check the order for accursed because the customer has had issues with this vender before. The bag was taped shut and in my naivete, I cut it open to check the order. Ok, so I f*d up but I was trying to do the right thing. Anyway, I need another six 5-star reviews to fix my average and I've been pondering how can I get more happy customers to take the time to leave a positive review. Thanks for the good advice.
The two restaurants I avoid is friendly’s and five guys. Food never ready. Making me wait 5-15 mins.

If you received a low rating how do you find out why? Doordash says they have no clue.
Hi! I had a lot of varying ratings. I watched your video and have done what you said and only got 5 star ratings since!
Rating of 4.2 and completion rating if 80 or less for deactivation.
I would be annoyed if the dasher asked me for my address again. When you place your order it is one of the questions you confirm next to the instructions. To me it would seem like the dasher isn’t taking the time to look at the order . I think keeping it short and sweet would suffice. I would want the least communication as possible. The good customer service will show if it’s there. Drop off note would be awesome if it’s a no contact delivery or a simple “have a good day “ with a smile, if it’s face to face. You can tell if the dasher is genuine or not. Biggest peeve of all… do not hold your hand out(expecting a cash tip)after handing over the item. This is beyond rude and happens way too often than not.
Which pays more Doordash or Postmates? I do Postmates and can make a good buck but I hear people say Doordash is better?

Hi and thank you for all the info and tips on doordashing,what I thought bad reviews were coming are from customers who track you sometimes we get 2-3 deliveries and you know customer going to get upset because they're food was cold wonder where they going before delivering they're food.. usually don't deliver the 1st pick up 1st either so they're waiting and get upset cause late delivery and cold food. Because they dont know we have not only theyre food but, other pick up too. What can be done besides telling the customer your running kate cause you have other deliveries and not just they'res how do we explain that.. Thank you I'm advance....
