      Top dasher is garbage.
      Nothing but an incentive by doordash to make people believe they're getting something out of making less money, and putting more miles on their cars.
      Doordash cares about people who order food through their app, not drivers...were expendable. They want those crappy, low paying orders picked up just as quick as good paying orders. Which is why Top Dasher exists.
      Decline. Cherry pick. Pick and choose. Whatever you wanna call it. Top dasher is junk. My Acceptance rate hasn't been above 10% in the last over 2500 deliveries/4k total (remember it's a rolling percentage, not a percentage of all orders taken lol).
      And it's hovering around 5% AR right now. All other ratings are great, you can be deactivated for those...but not the acceptance rating. You can't and won't be deactivated for it, were independent contractors - like other independent contractors who pick and choose the jobs they wanna do, so can we. It's even listed in the doordash terms of service. I still can schedule my dashes 6 days ahead of time, I still get good/big orders. Average 22-25/hr. And make sure my minimum/lowest is 20/hr even on slow days, which is easy to watch&gauge when you cherry pick orders. And my market is only a population of 90k people.
      Seriously, ditch top dasher. Decline low ball orders.

      I believe you are right $2 per tip to $1 doordash pays is a great ratio, it’s not always easy to get to that level. Catering bag orders helps a ton! Pizza bag orders help as well.

      $25-30 an hour. 9 hours a day. $250+ a day easy. Dash time, not active time, though they’re only an hour or so different. During crappy hours, small orders for low miles add $80-100 a day. Take them if you know restaurant is fast. No clown here LOL

    Salaries are super high here,so i deliver near those condo's downtown.
    They tip $9 to $15 usually.
    And both apps have those heat maps,so you can drive

    Doordash supposedly lowered tresh hold for orders for top dashers. So any order above $30 in cart will get priority for top dashers. But here's the thing...not many tipping on doordash in my market. I get $5 tip from $15 orders as much as I do from $30 orders. $30 orders in cart means nothing when they don't tip. It's going to be the worst year in 4 years of delivery.

    Its so sad we live in a society where the customer has to pay most of the Driver's paycheck
    Edit 9 months later: I still get a lot of replies to my comment here, some people pointing out that at the end of the day, Customers do pay the Employee's paycheck. That is true, but let me clarify my former statement. The DD customer is charged a nonnegotiable fee for their order, of which the DD driver gets a small cut. DD will not raise delivery prices to benefit the driver, because then no one will use their expensive service. Any money beyond that is not required, but if the driver wants a decent paycheck, it is up to the customer's generosity to donate more to the driver. This applies to almost any service job these days. Without Tips, these workers are not paying the bills. So I guess my amended comment would be: "Its sad that the Driver must depend on the few Charitable Customers to provide them with Living Wage, because DoorDash is too greedy to pay them properly."

      I'm wondering if they really get the money. Bc I placed a order on doordash and then went directly to the restaurant site and that same order cost $7 more plus 4.99 delivery fee and then the door dash employee are upset theres no tip. The issue is I've already paid $11 $12 in addition to what I would have paid if I've gone myself. Sometimes I feel bad when I can't tip other times I'm like I've compensated the company. It's the company that's taking advantage of the drivers

    700 per week is absolutely terrible. You still have to pay taxes on that, you also have to factor in gas and wear/tear on your vehicle. This only makes sense if you are on a cheap scooter that you bought used that gets 100 miles per gallon. And even with that its poverty income.

    • @EliteOnTheBeat
      @EliteOnTheBeat 2 роки тому +2

      All that stuff you mentioned that someone has to consider is what tax write offs are for and they combined all that stuff up and it equals to a56 cents PER mile. Even buying a car for doordash, the entire purchase is a tax write off. Even your meals that you eat during slow times (in between deliveries) is a tax write off.

    • @kylecouture1917
      @kylecouture1917 2 роки тому +4

      @@EliteOnTheBeat i dont think you know exactly how a tax write off works. Its not a tax credit. Lets say you make $700 and you have $200 a week in tax write offs. You dont pay $200 less in taxes. You would pay taxes on $500 income instead of $700 income. NOT the same thing. And no, a vehicle purchase for door dash is NOT a tax write off unless its a second vehicle that you ONLY use for doordash. You can not write off your personal vehicle just because you use it for door dash. And if you buy a second vehicle for door dash just so you can write it off then you still lost because at the end of the day you are paying for all the fees that come with owning a second vehicle like insurance, registration and lost value because its a depreciating asset. No matter how you look at it, doordash/uber is a horrible job that requires you to work 60 hours per week and still barely make ends meet. Its a good job for college students that live in heavily populated areas to make a few extra bucks for their weekend drinking habbits. Thats it.

    I think you need to calculate your net earnings because talking up your gross earnings of $743.67 are misleading to all gig workers. How much do you think your take-home pay amounts to after accounting for auto maintenance, auto insurance, health insurance, vision and dental insurance, disability insurance, income taxes, SSI, and SDI, not to mention the higher price of gas? My guess is less than $10.00 per hour. These gig companies are ripping off drivers we allow them to. They would fail if drivers didn't enable them by taking whatever they feel like paying us. The median hourly living wage for the U.S. is $35.00/hr. in order to provide for a roof over your head, food, and clothing, leaving minimal disposable income depending on where you live. I suggest we strike one day a week and unionize. It will only be possible to negotiate with the gig companies when we hit them in where it hurts - their bank accounts.
    We all deserve to be treated and paid fairly and live happy, healthy lives, without the stress of feeling we have to drive a few more hours to make ends meet.
    I wish all drivers and their families well. Peace
    PS: In California, drivers bought into the gig companies' pitch that Prop 22 was in their best interest. I'd like to know how many CA drivers are making more money now, after its approval? Check out this report by the UC Berkeley Labor Center laborcenter.berkeley.edu/the-effects-of-proposition-22-on-driver-earnings-response-to-a-lyft-funded-report-by-dr-christopher-thornberg/

      I earn $4800.00 a month using Doordash alone. This is based on a 50 hour week. My total tax obligation is 8% after factoring in my deductible expenses. That brings me down to $4426.00. That leaves me with money to invest, even after paying for all of my expenses. Look, you have to pay for the expenses you speak of anyway, no matter who you work for. For example, let's say you have a W2 job that pays 50K per year. If you have expenses of $25K, are you going claim you are only earning $25K? Furthermore, where did you get that $35/hour median living wage from? That's over 70K per capita per year. This country should be so lucky. I'm getting negative vibes from you dude, because your logic and "statistics" don't make sense. But, best of luck to you.

    every video I see about the Gig economy states you could make 20-25 an hour...you are all independent contractors using and maintaining your own vehicle...this brings the hourly rate down drastically....and if you are making 1000 a week in any market you are working full time and then some...maybe 45-60 hours a week.....if you are you are putting 50-60 k on your car a year...if you decide not to work some days they dont care....there are thousands of you to take your place...if you decide to work you assume all the risk and make 100% of the investment...In a nutshell what a majority of you are doing is cashing in on the value of your car....its unsustainable

    • @masterbozeman
      @masterbozeman 2 роки тому

      It can be sustainable in some markets. If you treat the gig jobs as your own business and do research it can work out. I have been driving for over 5 years now full time. Took me about 2 years to figure out what works and what doesn't. After my third year I was able to buy a car just for the gig apps and drive about 20-30k miles a year, 25-40 hours a week, If looking at it in hourly wage It averages to $32/hour in my market. I tend to make more than most drivers in my area.

      Gig work i.e. gives a lot of people access to earnings that they otherwise would not have in the USA society e.g. Black intellectual descendants of slavery advocates. So be grateful because this is not an issue of race but rather non inclusive policies that have shaped behaviors.

      I have a 2020 Honda and I’ve put 21k miles on it already. I’ve made over 30k since starting doordash. You buy a car to put miles on it, and if you can make money with it why not? So if I’m doing the math right, if I did door dash for five years and put 100k miles on my car and if I make over 30k after taxes every year that’s 150k I’ve made… and the car cost me 25k…. It’s definitely worth it if you are in a good market and really want to make money!

      I'm on DoorDash full time. I don't consider it a job, I consider it running my own business. I work 55 hours a week and average $22.59 per hour. I learned how to use my independent contractor status to my advantage. Sure I have pay for my own medical, but I can write off the premiums. I end up paying 10% total tax legally. I worked for 25 years as a W2 for less money and far more BS. I am glad I joined the gig.
