Steinway Model O Review | Built in 1903

- Today we have is a 1903 Steinway O, which is really cool piano for us because you've seen a lot of them before. This is a Steinway & Sons model O, so it measures 5 foot 10 inches from the front to the back, but what makes this really really cool is that my buddy rebuilt this piano when he was a kid!
So a friend of ours, another family, another piano family here in town named "The Browns". Glenn Brown is the dad, Matthew Brown is the son; Matthew's I think 45 now and he's a really close friend of mine. He used to work here in the shop, and he stops and helps us all the time. Phenomenal re-builders! He rebuilt his piano when he was about 19 with his dad, and it turned out amazing! They did everything new, they did a full rebuild on this piano, they refinished the cabinet, they pulled the plate, refinished the plate, they did the sound board, they did a new block, they restrung the piano, and they replaced everything in the action. It's a brand new action in there and it turned out amazing!
So when we got it in; the people that they rebuilt this piano for, keep in mind they weren't piano sellers, this was somebody's piano that they rebuilt for them as a service, but when we got it in one of the arms, the veneer on the arm was peeling up, so we re-veneered the arm and made it look all brand new, it looks amazing!
It did a really good job I think we actually did both arms. I did one arm, and my brother did the other one, but it turned out fantastic.
When we look at what's going on inside this Steinway piano, so like I said our friends totally rebuilt this piano, these are Steinway hammers, and they did all new hammer shanks weapons and flanges, so all of this is all brand new
So it's basically just like 100-year-old brand new piano, as they replaced all of this, and they did a really good job, and That's why we love working with The Browns, they have done a lot of work for us over the years, and it's almost annoying how intense they are about everything being perfect, because they absolutely despise cutting corners, and it's very apparent with this action and this rebuild. They've even re-bushed the balance rail on the front rail. I will say this: the piano's keys are not plastic, and that's all I'll say...

I wish I could have heard her demo the piano I bought. You did a fine job though.
I believe this is the richest/warmest, yet brightest Model O I've heard. The voicing to me is perfect and it even sings out those high notes like an "A" yet without the bell.
Awesome rebuild. I have a newly fully restored 1901 model O. These are filled with great soun yet fit into. Most homes. They are a joy to play.I am only the third owner so I know it’s life story.

Steinway is Steinway although many people bash the brand after change of ownership but it still has the unique sound that only Steinway has
This piano has an excellent overall sound, particularly for its size. Nicole is a brilliant pianist and musician. Hard to believe anyone could showcase a piano better than she.
