I have a 1925 Chickering parlor grand. It has a very deep, rich, round sound. This one is so light, bright and filled with light. Both are treasures!

Magnificent thing. Love the mandolin pedal. Those old pianos from the late 19th and early 20th century had great slabs and chunks of hardwood in them, the likes which are not found today.....

I have just been so impressed with a Bergmann made by young Chang. It is a wonderful instrument. I've heard some say that it makes a difference as to the year each model was made as to how well it plays. Enjoyed your demonstration. The thing that was so impressive to me about the Bergmann I hear from time to time is the wonderful tone and definition of the base. The base of many pianos gets lost in the rest of music the player is playing. With this particular Bergmann I hear, the base is often the standout feature of the song and is so clear and the tone is just remarkable.

How do you describe the opposite sound (obscure? flat?) ? and what is the cure?

I don't know. This one is too bright for me. It's interesting how bright some could be and others just slightly. Yes, it belongs in a big space.
