Far superior compared to any “cheap” new piano today

What people don't realise is that you can't get this kind of powerful, rich sound from a new pianos. It takes a min of 50 odd years for the wood to mature enough just for it to even start resonating something like this. Yamaha have started figuring it out and have been using the process they've developed in their violins for a while now. They just started using it in their new pianos as well. It's a definite improvement, but I doubt there will ever be a 100% convincing shortcut.

How does having a QRS player system (or any other for that matter) installed on a grand piano like this affect the touch when playing the piano manually? Is there any noticeable difference?

Aeolian never acquired Baldwin. Baldwin remained independent until 1963 when they acquired Wurlitzer. Baldwin had way higher quality and attention to detail than aeolian did. Also Kimball was never apart of Aeolian either.

Very nice to hear Tom Jobim! We were living in Brazil when he died. The amount of people in Rio de Janeiro on the street when his body was driven for burial was something I'll never see anything like. Countless, everyone pretty much, to show their respect for his contributions to their culture.

Beautiful piano, but man, that opening piece sounds like a piano falling down the stairs! NOT a good way to demonstrate a piano. I couldn't shut it off soon enough!

Imagine what Beethoven, Bach and Mozart could have improvised on this wonderful instrument.

I have a Kanbe Grand Piano, 6'4", almost idential to this one, but on the keyboard cover plate, it print "Knabe Piano Co.". It was rebuilt and sounds beautifully.
