Archie brought along his moral support kitty. You're a fine looking lad, Archie.
I think the cat just hoped that the ram will become meat
P,
Lord Archie to you sir.
@@sirennoir258 I'm not worthy. 😂
Archie's look on his face after the shearing was priceless, "What the heck just happened , I'm naked " Lol
I never thought I'd subscribe to a channel about shearing sheep, but here I am.👍
I’m also subscribed to a couple of ferrier channels too. It’s likewise interesting to watch.
It’s really nice to see you feeding him and giving him love afterwards. Sheering isn’t cruel, but I think positive reinforcement after a new and uncomfortable experience like that for an animal makes a huge difference and keeps trust. Love this video 👍

It's not just that shearing isn't cruel. It's mandatory now. Sheep are domesticated animals, and have been sheared for thousands of years by humans. We've bred the sheep that grow the most wool and because of this sheep grow wool at an incredible rate. Sheep that aren't sheared regularly become overgrown with wool. They become hot, heavy, and eventually immobile if they aren't taken care of by a human. They rely on our care to survive.
@@Vesdus Absolutey agree 👍 - In the long run while their wool builds up, it's definitely necessary to shear them to avoid these issues.

You were so gentle with him. He didn’t look stressed and after was just like okay, what just happened? You did a great job!
Both his skin and his fleece have such extraordinary colors! He's beautiful.
That cat looked like she was keeping an eye on you to make sure she wasn't next. 😹
The cat was definitely a sheep fan! And sheep friend, great video! 🐏🐑
You are fantastic! Strong hefting the ram, gentle so he trusts you, skilled at shearing, clever, photogenic, handsome...plus I love the way you talk. If you're not married I know your videos will charm the right gal!
I think you can tell the quality of care for the animals on a farm by how the farm cats react to new people. This is an excellent farm!
Thanks peg!

Cats and sheep. An understanding that people have not fully come to ken. On our farm when working in the sheep yards there was always cats watching. One day there was a big tom that was a stranger, never seen again, but he stayed for hours. At shearing time farm cats would visit the shed, not for long as that would interrupted hunting.
@@shearingseason4965 yeah i really loved it when you shaved those sheeps fat balls
I was thinking the same thing ❤
What a cute face with all that wool. He did so well for his first time! I was sure the cat was gonna try to claim that fleece for himself once you were finished. I know mine would have!
Hahaha! I remember when my 3rd son was little and he was given a pair of tennis shoes. I could see immediately that he wasn't a great fan of them, so I used the best psychology a mom can. I got all excited and grabbed one and quickly inspected it. The said something like "Wow! These are those fast shoes I heard about! " he fell for it and loved the shoes.
Haha that’s how i got tricked into buying those clippers 🤣🤣
Archie is a handsome boy under all that fleece. Well done! ❤👍👍
That was genuinely first time I've ever seen a sheep shearing and thought, nice job both are chilled out...usually I'm like "are you sure this is the only way you can shear a sheep? Do you really need to wrestle and dominate the sheep then cut its wool of like some mad butcher" surely its a symbiotic relationship the sheep gets its old wool off and can stay cool the person gets some wool to sell
Archie looks like a sweet pet teddy bear! So glad you were calm and gentle.
What a docile boy! I definitely give this video five stars. Amazing camera work, awesome editing, and you have become a truly great storyteller. Such a pleasure to watch!
I bet he feels SOO Much better after that trim. He seemed hesitant in the beginning but it looks like he was relaxing for the end of it
We run a small flock of Ryelands and mine never look so neat after shearing! 😂 please come to Wales and do mine this summer.
Sure they are grand!
Archie is a stunning wee ram!
Patience and kindness seems to be the key for a first sheer - good on ya, Cammie!
what a beautiful ram-- pretty docile as well.
Dearest Cam, I could watch you shear all day 😉. I enjoy your commentary and definitely your humour. Hugs to the wee ones, take care. 🇨🇦
This is very relaxing to watch. I had sheep in 4-H in the US as a teenager. Raised them for market. Always liked watching someone shear sheep! A true art! I work part-time as a hairdresser. Really appreciate the training/experience that this takes to become expert at shearing.
6:03 Did he say he shears 400 a day?
Beautiful- Archie is a handsome young ram and you did a great job with him!!
Love how gentle you are with him, understanding his youth. What a sweet boy, the sheep too, lol.
I see what you did there. 😆
He was really good for you Cammy, that’s because he knew you knew what you were doing! Thank you ❤️🇦🇺🏴
It's really nice video. I have never before thought about rams being sheered...and the dangers for their precious parts.
Me too, and I guess it’s silly of me, but I never thought that the ram’s important bits would be covered in wool too.
Gorgeous work. Archie was such a good lad for the shear too. Love to see it.
Oh Archie is a character.
What a gorgeous sheep. (Like that horsebox too. I’m jealous 😂)
Excellent job and fine sheep!
I just love Camys delivery and antics, never stop, your shearing shoes are very fast, you and Lizzy have a beautiful family
You did fantastic job. You kept Archie calm during the shearing. 🐑
What a good boy Archie and you look so handsome! ❤
What a gorgeous fleece!! That must be very soft, being the first time he was shorn. Good job! I’m sure Archie will remember you for the next time, it’s amazing how well he behaved for his first haircut.
I love the position you put them in to shear them. It reminds me a lot of how I do my corgi's nails.
It's always great seeing a pro Shearer in action. Animals that I have to completely over power to control, they seem to be able to control them with their pinky finger.
I love that he doesn't nick and hurt the sheep! The cat looks somewhat concerned that it may be next.
The Sheep Fan (otherwise known as the cat) was sure curious
🤣 she was!
@@shearingseason4965 Being ginger, most likely a tom unless you were told otherwise.
You’re so considerate of the sheep you shear, Archie was such a little sweetheart and then you transformed into a ‘big boy’! BTW, if a stranger was getting around your bits, they would probably have wax, not shears!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh Cammy, you’re a legend!💕🇨🇦
Wow what a pro. It is soothing to see how gently yet fast you did yer job. When I see how they shear the Sheep down under it churns my guts. They have plenty to do, so they waste no time with being careful, instead needing extra time to sew stitches on the many nasty cuts they cause to those poor sheep, and as if that were not bad enough they beat them from A to B. They have zero compassion. It is only about time and money there and that sickens me. I respect you for how you perform your trade. Thankyou for that, and greetings from Germany.
Oh what a beautiful sheep.
Well he looked like a teddy bear before you sheared him.
So much fun!
🇨🇦 Great video as always Cammie
You are awesome! Personality and how you handle the sheep, best shearing video in my opinion! Keep being you 💖
Thank you!
Is this what we Americans call a baby doll sheep? I love his colors! Excellent video as always @cammy!
Yeah i believe so! But they have bred them smaller 👍😁
Babydolls are Southdown sheep, but I’m sure they are related
@@shearingseason4965 that rich black color as soon as you made that first swipe just made me gasp. This is my second (or third?) time watching this one and the ram is just stunning!
What a beautiful ram. You did a great job with him! Gentle and cautious with him
Archy is a cute little guy. He did very well for you.
Each time I see you shearing such beautiful fleeces, I wish I could get my hands on them … such beautiful wool… I just imagine what I would make with it, how I would spin it…. But my favourite part is getting a good long snif of it, I love that smell, cannot get enough of it…
these rams are beautiful, I do not know which breed is my favourite, woolwise I kind of know, but sheep wise they are all beautiful!
It was shocking to see he had white patches on him, but looked fabulous afterwards. Yes lambing season soon so excited hope you do not have to many bottles this year.
Thanks! The battles make the content great tho 😅😅
kitty looks concerned she might be next (she's beautifully marked)! you did a lovely clean shear on Archie and am sure he'll produce another beautiful coat in time for the show and hopefully your dancing improves by then as well....haha! love the moccasins. your videos are so enjoyable to watch and educational (would love to see a slow-mo and up-close on shearing a ram with horns and how you trim their faces). all the best from a rather icy and cold Canada.
Thanks! We’ll try do some of that! Valais Blacknose next!
Your a nice person in the way you have humor and kindness towards the animal
Hi Cammy, I’m originally from the West Riding of Yorkshire, and our local sheep breed was named after the local market town, pronounced Pennystone. (If you look it up, halfway between Huddersfield and Sheffield, you’ll see why UA-cam might have a fit about leaving the town name uncensored.). I don’t know if there are any purebreds left, as the breed seems to have morphed into the Whitefaced Woodland. Anyhow, if you can find one, please have a go at shearing it. Thanks.
Adorable Archie….I m sure he ll b a winner at the Highland Show…I c he had his lucky mascot with him…..ginger Tom
As a knitter i absolutely love this channel! the kindness and gentle nature you show all the sheep's is amazing, plus they are super cute! Archie was a good boy bless him. 💕
Love the colours of his wool coat after he was sheared Cammy.
Like marble effect 😁
Nice handsome new sheep. Thanks for sheering
Lol...around your important parts...😅 It's so relaxing to watch you shear a wooly beast.
this channel is really turing into something awesome, love the walkthrough commentary
That's gotta feel amazing for the ram/ sheep - the weight of that wool !!!!
The look of, oh crap you don't just want to pet me and be friends! What a beautiful boy Archie is.
I love that the shearer has hair as woolly and curly as the sheep! It's amazing the way they sit for him like a teddy bear after he flips them
That’s really all coloured ryelands are, teddy bears. Honestly they are the most chilled and laid back sheep out there
What a lovely ram. I love to watch you shear the sheep. They seem to tolerate it so well when you do it.
I'm addicted looking at this and I don't know why.
So am I but I think I know why lol. Descended from such a long line of farmers and shepherds, no way that hasn't rubbed on my genes lol
Beautiful animal.
The best part of the video is when the wool clipper goes into the pressed wool and cleans the skin and cools the sheep!
Romney is always a favorite for me. I have shorn a couple small flocks of CVM's this year. I doubt you have them in the UK. They were developed by crossing Romney with Rambouillet and adding a bit of Corriedale in the mix. Fine wool in colors excellent for hand spinning, year round breeding and good carcass quality. Fortunately they got the calm demeanor of the Romney for the most part but some ram lines can be aggressive.
He's just beautiful, excellent job!!
The way you plopped him on his butt and he submitted , was literally murderous cuteness
He's a nice looking sheep, very docile for first shearing, how about a baby doll sheep if you have them there in the UK. Thanks for the fun! Cheers from Tasmania!
Precious little hogget! ❤
Like those shears, btw!!!
Carlos has a nice ring to it... I dig it 😊❤️
🤣 gotta love Archie, he’s a beauty! Great job as always!
We have a coloured ryeland ram named Archie too 🤣 it would be interesting to see how you'd go about shearing a ouessant!
It doesn’t matter which breed you sheer…l have no special preference…l just love watching you at work anytime…thank you, Archie looks fabulous! 🐏💕
I'm always surprised how well behaved the sheep are during their hair cut. You are awesome!!
Just stumbled upon your gem of a channel and this is so reminiscent of how my mom described her childhood during the time my Grandpa was a sheep farmer in Indiana. She wasn't the biggest fan of the shearing bit, the rams didn't care to cooperate very often like this handsome Ryeland! I've always been curious to try it maybe one day lol. I especially admire the Scottish Blackface breed.
Very well behaved ram though! I can tell you really care about these beauties. 🐏❤🥰
I used to have five Jacobs and used hand shears on them, which was easy enough at the time. My sister in law had a pet lamb, 3 years old which had never been sheared and she asked me if I'd do it; I said sure.
When I went to her place the ewe was in a small yard, her fleece was very overgrown, and I went to climb in with her. At this point my SIL told me not to go there, or the sheep, "would get me."
I remember asking her how I could shear her remotely trying not to laugh, and climbed over and did the deed; like Archie, she sat very well which was good as she was a big girl, and I think she was happy to be free of her burden.
I also did a friend's Shetland sheep. I told him that they were plucked, rather than clipped, generally, but he was adamant. As with my SIL, he warned me to be careful of the ram, who I could easily pick up, he was so tiny.
I do like sheep though am too crippled these days to keep any, it's nice to see how friendly you are with yours.
Archie was such a good little boy....
Archie is gorgeous 👍👍excellent job! I’m loving the shoes.
I used to clip my thoroughbred mare. Thought she'd hate it, but she just enjoyed the clippers moving over her skin !
He’s so adorable 🥰
Archie is another beauty!
The cat can't believe his eyes!🤣🤣🤣
Amazingly good job 👏 so satisfying to watch❤
Cute little fella
great job
He’s stunning!
There are a couple of coloured Ryland sheep we pass every day, one called Bo, is often on her back and as a certified sheep fan I’ve flipped her back over a few times now 😂
the cat is sooooooooooooo funny , she wants to be in the middle of the action !
I love this guy.
That ram 🐏 is a good boy
So funny, just like a kid with new, fast, shoes!
This might be the most dog like sheep so far.
Archie is a handsome boy with and without his fleece. Will you let us see him at the Highland Show with his new fleece?
Yeah i’ll try get a video of him and Lofthouse! 😁
The orange cat was a paid actor. 10/10
I sheared my coloured Ryeland ram lamb and two ewe lambs recently (4 more ewe lambs to go). I always try to recall how many blows the shearing trainer taught us to use on each part, like 4 or 5 on the belly, but it was a case of ripping up that rulebook with the Ryelands!
Can I share before and after photos here?
We love Herdwicks, if you can find some of them to shear our boys will shout you a coffee next time you’re up at UA in Stirling 🤣☕️
😁 they’re on the list! We have a few at Muirkirk! 😁
+1 for the Herdy’s
That fleece looked really fine early fine what beautiful colour is in it thank that for thank that from an old wool packer
cool how he makes hats out of the raw wool as well
Archie is a good boy
Beautiful fleece cannot wait to see your next one
Thanks! Valais Blacknose next!
I have been waiting for that one for ages. I now don’t feel so bad about how long it takes me to do mine. Or how much I sweat!
Nice looking sheep!
This is the content I'm looking for lol. Liked and subscribed, thanks for your caring work!
