- We visit one of the biggest Valais Blacknose sheep flocks in Scotland to shear George, their top scoring Ram. Some of the hardest sheep to shear and that's only if we manage to actually lift this big boy onto the shearing trailer!

my hats off to the owner here , healthiest and cleanest looking sheep and spotless barn ive ever seen.
Big georges temperament could only have come from being spoiled and well well looked after
George is surely used to being handled. What a good boy!
What beautiful wool!
Sheep in UK have to be indoors in winter. They need to be protected from cold and wet or they get sick or foot rot. They graze outside all summer. The farmers bring them into pens to sheer them for summer season.
Humans were the mistake
❤
Very impressed with the cleanliness of their environment
Great, Observation! 🌹🌿 I was distracted by the sheep 🐏, looking like they belonged on another planet :)
I was amazed how cooperative and calm Big George was considering the strength he must have.
It has to be a relief.
@@jonammons5882 I'm sure you're right.
how does having strength and being cooperative/calm exclude each other to begin with?

@@raze956 I think you're taking the two as being some sort of opposite ends of the spectrum, which I'm fairly sure is not what's being said.. Pretty sure the intent was to say that if George, being as strong as he must be, had actually wanted to, he could have just as easily _not_ been calm and cooperative, and nobody could've done a darn thing about it.
He may be a big boy, but look how well behaved he is for the haircut! what a star!!
As a retired dog groomer watching you, MY BACK aches!! I had a hydraulic table that lowered down, dog gets on table, pump it up and work standing up.
Also, love hearing you speak!!
Another retired pet stylist here - watching this channel makes me miss my old job of 16 years sometimes ❤ but if I went back to it, I’d fall apart physically 😅
I'm amazed how chill he is this entire time.
God, he's magnificent. Stunning breed and loved watching you work. So nice you took the time to introduce yourself to him too. Love from Aotearoa/ New Zealand.
Those sheep are very well cared for. Nice to see that. Great job
He's so healthy!
His skin is clearer than mine...
The wool seemed so light and fluffy on him! Gorgeous George
Amazing to see Blacknose sheep in Scotland! Im from Valais in Switzerland and see them all the time in the mountains. The local beauty competition in my hometown is actually not for people, but for blacknose sheep!
Wow that fleece is so clean just beautiful!
as a fiber person I'm looking at that just drooling because it's SO CLEAN you can use the ENTIRE Fleece, except his man bits.
@@VelvetDraginfly as a bespoke tailor of men's historical suits, I would die for the cloth made of that. That's what I want. None of this, one 50 or 200 super nonsense.
It looks like it'd be a delight to spin those long, shiny locks!
They seem so well looked after! Clean, airy and light environment, I looooove it❤
What a beautiful breed. Thank you for giving the info for the breed. Very interesting
That's right, it's one of the prettiest sheep I've ever seen
George is so polite
I never thought sheep could be beautiful until I saw Valais.
Wow! George is a beautiful ram!! He is indeed a fine example of his breed. Plus his disposition is wonderful.
Nice work!
Your way with George is lovely, he was calm because you gave him no reason to panic, fantastic to see. Loved the process :)
George's fleece/wool is very clean. Very pretty
As a knitter I am breathless at that gorgeous fleece.
Just such a beautiful, and gentle breed of sheep. Adorable
It always amazes me that they sit so quietly to be shorn. I've seen a few sheep do some crazy stuff! I'd love to see some Texels. Ever since you made a video about the sale last year, they've become my favorite breed!
I’ll do a massive texel soon😁
@@shearingseason4965 yess!! a genuine Dutch breed!
This is one of the most beautiful sheep I have ever seen.
Cami, I just showed my 9 year old city Granddaughter this video…she said the video was very satisfying!
That is awesome!
George is magnificent. Gorgeous coat. The the horns, wow.
and that ram is exceptional
I love Valley Black Nose sheep, they’re just adorable
I would want to listen to your voice all day long! Love the accent. 😊
As a menopausal woman, I can appreciate how great that sheep must feel.
What a beautiful fleece off that Ram. Love the color pattern.
I'm in love with the accent of this man and that is a beautiful breed of sheep, with its handsome horns and big fluff
What a gorgeous breed. And hes so polite 😂
Absolutely love Big George! What a gentle giant, and handsome too! My favorite so far. Thanks for sharing.
What gorgeous fleece he has ❤. Beautiful breed 😊
Excellent. I love watching sheeps being peeled.
Before he looked much better. Never seen so beautiful well groomed sheeps before. Greetings from Austria.
George has such beautiful markings. I did not realize that they were that large. I've maybe only seen ewes and lambs, but he was huge.🐏🙂💜
Valais rams can weigh up to 270 lbs, and all of it muscle!
@@alexisgrunden1556 That is huge.
@@westzed23 They were bred and created to be a dual-purpose breed, meat and wool, so yeah, they're pretty *thicc.* But part of what makes them so valuable, apart from how insanely cute they are and how sweet and friendly they are (making them much easier to keep and work with than some more skittish breeds), is how efficient their digestion is. Valais need a lot less food than most other sheep of a similar bodyweight to maintain their optimum physical condition and produce a similar volume of fleece.
@@alexisgrunden1556 So these are practical sheep when pasture is limited such as up in high, rough hills. Also if a farm is small, then they are great as multi-use animals.
@@westzed23 Yes, but purebred Valais are prohibitively expensive; partially due to the breed's low numbers, and also due to internet exposure. Once the internet collectively voted them as the cutest breed of sheep in the world? Prices shot through the bleeping roof. Even half-breed Valais will set you back a pretty penny.
For pure functionality, though, the only way Valais could possibly be improved at all is if they were also a milking breed (producing ample surplus for human use). There's a few sheep breeds that the ewes are hung like Holsteins, but the Valais are not one of them.
Beautiful creature! One heck of a job! 👍🏽
You guys have a pristine set up man. Looks great
My little boy loves goats and sheep, I can't waitbto share this with him!
What a gorgeous ram he is, and seems very well behaved for being so big. Great job 👍😎👍🏴
Are there sheep farms near where you live?
I’m the resident spinner at Historic O’Keefe Ranch in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. They have a small flock of Jacob sheep including 2 rams. Our shearing does an amazing job on the considering they each have 4 enormous curly horns and a wee bit of attitude. 😉
What a beautiful specimen of a valley black nose. Just gorgeous. Great job Cammy. What a huge clean shed too. Very impressive
Thank you, Cammy! Love your videos. Greetings from Northern California, USA ❤🐑
Whoa, ramscaping! 😆 Good job though, and such beautiful wool! I imagine that's prized as well.
Aye I think George enjoyed that, a wee bit of freedom 😅
🤣@@algrant5293 Don't we all?
You did an incredible job! Gorgeous boy!
Such beautiful sheep! Love his horns!
Ohhhh it's the first time I see one !!!!! Adorable❤❤❤❤all so clean!!!
Ive never seen a Sheep breed like that! Their appearance takes you by surprise!Wow! ( those Horns), I fully expected him to get a little "Uncomfortable" when you were Shearing around his 🍒/🌰🌰☺ area, he WAS a perfect Gentleman!👍🐏
Yes, those were very wooly… gentlemen parts. But you were very delicate with them.
He's part angel... not just a sheep. 😂 What s mellow creature.
Hope they're only for wool. 🙏🐏❤️
I love your sense of humor 🩷
NAKED SHEEP!!! George is so pink he is adorable!!!
George was pink all over everywhere, he is very ready I'd say :) And shearing him with but one little nick, that was a great job, Cammie!
Thank you! 😁
Congratulations on this milestone! He was a whopper.
He is the KING of Rams. What a beautiful fleece he made.
Impressive "gentleman parts," George! It took you 8 whole minutes to do that? What, are you on vacation boy?! Just kidding--I'm thoroughly impressed by both you & George: George for his calmness (he almost seemed to be enjoying the massage) & for his parts; you for your skill & gentleness, not a nick on him. Can't speak for your parts--but I do love your accent, could listen to it all day.
THAT WAS AMAZING!!!! I've never watched a sheep shearing video and i couldnt look away. WOW. Love you Georgie!!!!!
George is one of the most beautiful rams I have seen on your show.
Good grief, those are the cutest sheep! Love their fuzzy jammies.
I can just watch this video over and over. So relaxing! Plus George is an absolutely beautiful creature! ❤
The Valais are the cutest sheep ever 🥰 I’d love one
George is huge in every area! Great job shearing him Cammy
Yes,I’m sure he’s popular with the lady sheep.
I think they're about the cutest breed of sheep I've ever seen. They look like toys!
Never thought listening to a Scottish man talk while he shears a sheep could be so Interesting, but here we are 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for what you do, keeping all these sheep in great shape. I groomed dogs for 10 years and it’s always rewarding to see the end result!
Such beautiful sheep. Good work
Beautiful job, what a skill….wow 👏👏👏👏
Big George was a real beauty!❤❤❤
Totally different look after shave, just amazing 🤩
Absolutely a gorgeous animal! Great job shearing!
Didn't know they got so big. Gorgeous!! Even the gentleman parts!
Amazing at what he does, how gentle he is with all the four-legged beautiful angels. GREAT JOB DUDE!!!
😂😂😂l just love the gentleness you demonstrate when shearing sheep. Also you shear evenly. I am begining to love those black shoes. Well done Goodman.
Beautiful Ram! Enjoyed the shearing❤
Wow, that _is_ a big boy! But he did seem so gentle and patient for you while you worked. :)
This was interesting and informative! Thank you! ^_^
I have watched some videos of sheep being sheared after they've been left for years in the fields. If they don't get sheared, most of them keep growing their hair or fur and it will become dangerous to them. They can't even put their head down and their legs can't hold them up because the fur is too heavy. They look like rocks. So though they might look more beautiful with the thick coats, it's important that they get sheared, not just for their wool, but because it's safer for them.
The ones that are in the shop and sheared consistently, like in this video, are gorgeous. I was impressed at how clean and fresh it all looks, and the rams look just as clean and fresh.
I have never seen your videos before but I really love them.
I will be back.

Thanks Anastasia! 😍
Gad that crimp is beautiful That is a gorgeous fleece.
Amazing. The shearer has such skill, and is also kind and gentle.
Great video. Biggest ram I think I have ever seen, but thankfully very compliant. Exceptional skill level by the shearer, keep the videos coming.
What a beautiful big fellow George is, and such a good lad too! You handled him wonderfully. I bet he felt better with all that wool off. Those sheep and their enclosures look so well-maintained, too!
That was lovely to watch thank you + yes this is the most handsome Ram I’ve ever seen. Your skill is admirable! 🐏😁💕
Beautiful ram, and that wool is gorgeous.
That's one of the neatest farms I've ever seen lol. It's like something I'd make with those plastic farm sets as a lad.
This popped up while I was scrolling for recipes and I just had to watch! lol I've always been fascinated with sheep getting shorn and watching that big boy was great. Love the look of him and Cammy did a great job. :D
They are gorgeous! Great job.
I love love love this breed. It's a shame they're so rare in the states
What smooth and gentle shearing job you did! Such a beautiful animal. I was talking about the ram. LOL
Hey, that was awesome! Those sheep are CUTE. And that Irish accent is wonderful... Irish people sound like they sing when they talk. Love that, too!
George is GORGEOUS!!!!!
What a gentle sheep 🐑 ❤
Such a beautiful animal!
Scottsman drives in Japanese vehicle to shear a Swiss ram to American bluegrass music! Bravo! Bellisimo! Que bueno!
I'm renaming him...Gentleman George!!! He was so calm and patient!!!
Those horns are magnificent. Works of art
So pretty. I wonder if they feel better after all the wool is removed, feel cooler for sure.
incredible how there's a channel for everyone . and that's awesome !
Beautiful animal! I’m glad I found your channel. First time I watched one. I’ve been wanting to learn about sheep and shearing. Thank you!
I love seeing all the breeds up close and personal.
Great video as always, Cammy! I fell in love with Valais about 40 years ago when I saw a picture in a rare breeds book, they are such amazing looking sheep, like walking Gund toys. Was a bit odd hearing music that I'm used to hearing on Python Cowboy's channel when he's out hunting invasive species in Florida. Can't wait to see what breed you shear next.
You just popped up in my recommended, first Scottish shearer I’ve seen and I’m so excited about it. Lovely job mate!
Beautiful sheep! Great temperament too. I love these, and the Leicester and Lincoln Longwools.
