ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on UA-cam and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.
Another great one Cammy! Nice to see Lizzie and big Jock getting in on the shearing. Whoever was doing the camerawork while you were shearing was excellent!
I agree they have skills fun 😃
Yes thought the same
We bought a local (US Made) shears but there is only one company for cutters that last! Our sheep need shearing twice per year to keep them from overheating and the wool was 40cm and it will be again come September! I love to watch our shearer wrestle with our 162k Rams and the 126k ewes. He moans and groans about the weight and at 60 I have to tip in to help get them flipped. Then we still have to crutch them for march lambing! The Leister Longwool lives up to their name! I love to see the shearing videos! Little Jock is going to be strapping shearer for sure! It’s great to see your young family growing! One thing for sure when there are both loving parents in the home and spending the time with the young ones they will be healthy, smart and less likely for troubles in life. You’re off to a great start! Good on you!
I love the sheep with the bunny ears lol
Loved to see Lizzie and Young Jock making a special appearance, he has quite the grip 😂
That sheep with thise super tall ears looked just like a rabbit!!! Side profile was spot on bunny! 🐇
Loved the music! Cammy, that was a huge ram!!! The border lesters (sp?) make me lol with their rabbit ears. They always look surprised.
Great shearing. Great sheep. Lovely Border Leicester fleece! What a waste going to the wool board. Have a good day at the show tomorrow.
I like your sheep farm. I just started watching and heard about you from watching Sheepishly Me with Sandi Brock. It’s nice to see sheep in their natural habitat too. I enjoy watching how you herd them in with the dogs.
Thanks for coming over 😁
Oh my, hearing little Jock babble in the background had me cracking up! He definitely wanted to give you his two cents about the sheers.😂
Fun video, glad to see you & Lizzie back Cammie!
WOW !!!!!! Those were some huge ram sheep you were handling there. Lizzie is amazing. Big Jock should do modeling on the side. He is one fine specimen of a man. Great video! I look forward to your vlogs. ❤️ from Alabama USA.
Hello 👋how are you doing?
Excellent job Lizzy! Keep giving us our Jock fix! You know why we are watching vlogs these days! BTW... my son in law is a farrier. He HIGHLY recommends using an inversion table to help with those sore backs.
They have back-slings for shearers too, but I'm sure Cammy knows about them.
LOVE shearing vlogs! Great commentary while shearing that tup. Can't get enough of wee Jock!
Well done for the commentary during the shearing of that tup! Jock shows off the biceps well but yours were certainly working just as good Cammy!!💪🏻👍🏻👏🏻! Good on Lizzie for doing some as well👍🏻. Wee Jock certainly loves the camera, becoming quite the professional in front of the lens!!❤ The tally is steadily increasing, have you given any thought of what you would like to achieve this season ?🤔, -- you will need to make sure it's more than Sean's( even if it's just 1 more!!)😂😂
The plums on those lads. I bet you have to be careful not to step on them. 😆
Great video as always Cammy! Glad I'm not the only one that feels like an eighty year old after a winter off from shearing!
Great vlog Cammie!!! Such a pleasure to watch, especially as it was such a family affair… love that! Your shearing commentary was brilliant & it was so great to see Lizzie now getting the chance to get back to what she loves with the shearing, with wee Jock looking on….. he stole the show today, such a cutie 🥰. “Walking on Sunshine”… great track but good that we could also hear all your banter at the same time. This vlog has left me in a happy place….Thank you!!! 💜
I think Jock is ready to handle some sheep with that grip. 😂❤️
Checking the stickiness before shearing his Pa's mop!
I love to watch your shearing videos, I think it's cool to watch! That last bunch you did have ears like rabbits and a round nose bridge. Beautiful sheep! 👍💜🐑
I bet the birds love all the bits of wool left on the ground. It must be great nesting material.
Great (for us) to see the shearing season is truly underway! I wasn't sure if you were going into that raceway, or the tup was coming out. 😉😂😂 And it was wonderful that Lizzy was there to pull you guys through. 😊
Great vlog! I enjoy seeing the whole family getting into the act! Lizzie is amazing shearing and caring for Jock! The rams are huge! Thank you for sharing your work with us!
Wow, that ram at the McLaren's(?) was ginormus! At least he looked like he was enjoying his shear!
Your wee Jock is so lovely!
Fantastic Cammy. Super meeting the mob! Lizzie did a super job! Thank you. ❤️🇦🇺🏴
you would have been perfect as a door man in 80's coal mining town of Chesterfield, dealing with unruly drunken miners on a friday night, that ram put up a good fight but you were relentless. stamina that is what you have and a stiff back, keep up the good work. i love every minute of the shearing, it makes me grateful for dealing with computers offshore for a living
Jock does a fine job supervising you shearers. Lizzy as usual is a superstar...you certainly have a diamond there. I almost put my money on the ram winning that battle, but you as usual persevered, lol. Enjoyed the video.
I love watching you shear sheep. I used to be a dog groomer and I am amazed that you have to spend your whole shearing day bent over double! Grooming dogs on a table was so easy in comparison! But if I were a blade or clipper manufacturer, I would sell shearing pants with my logo on the bum! (15:15 in video)
PS watching from Canada
Cammie, the sheep with the long ears reminded me a bit of rabbits! I still like the texels best because their stocky build reminds me of a tank.
They remind me a LOT of rabbits. 🐰
Texels remind me of ugly English Bulldogs I'm not a fan
I was thinking (bad idea for me) that those were some BIG bunnies in with the sheep. Those ears, good grief, they are really, really long!
Border Leicester is the long eared sheep breed btw
@@GotAnUmbrella thank you!
I see a new series of 'shorts' starting...called 'RAMblings - Deep Thoughts with the Sheep Game"
You would have been the funniest actuary out there, Cammy!
that one sheep looked like it was crossed with a bunny. Super cute!
3:51 thats the power baby🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣😂😂😂😂
Love this. Liked the explanation of what and how. Great family you have. The eye candy was nice too. From a city girl in Illinois USA. Trying to get my husband to watch these.
Loved watching the sheep getting shorn, but OMG the ears on some of those big ass sheep .. are they some sort of a sheep X rabbit ??? 😆😄🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Ears that size on a sheep, that's wild.
Photo bomb by Superrrrr Jock! lol, so adorable!!!
I'm always excited to see a notification for a new Sheep Game video!
Thanks Cammy! Shearing looks like mighty hard work! 💚🐑
Thanks for another good video...it was just great to see wee Jock as well, aye he's a growing lad ok...lovely to see Lizzy, Jock and your crew...those long eared sheep, did they steal some genetics from hares or donkeys by any any chance, what a size they are...
love to all from Perth. 💌👶💕✨
Those EARS!!A just love em! Guess thats why they call crossed offspring mules....lol
@@RICDirector hadn't thought of that, why they're called mules. 🙂
Lizzy is one tough lass great too see her back shearing not long and the little one will be up on the boards with you both 😀
Good seeing Lizzy shearing too. Baby Jock getting so big so cute
Great video, thank you for explaining the combs you use.
Good Job Lizzie, lovely to see a lady shear x
Little Jock is strong! Pulling on his dads hair in good shape! He is growing. Just adorable. Wow, all three of you are shearing while Jock watches the performance🤣😂
I am excited to watch you, Lizzie and Jock shearing. 😁. 👍👍❤️
Much love to “Wee Jock”. 😍
No wonder your back hurts!
Cammie try stretching out b4 Sheering. Strech your back by leaning backwards first then forward and reach side to side over your head, it will save your back
I thought for a minute or two that the big tup might flip you around and take the clippers to your curls. Glad you persevered!
I'm thrilled that you gave of footage of some Border Leicester. I'll never see one in my life so it was a treat!
Now that was some really big rams. The one with the big ears was quite handsome. And it is always fun to see Lizzy and adorable Jock. ❤️❤️
hi cammy, liz and youg jock, this is doug from australia being and a fellow gentleman of the downtube,i was admiring the great quality you ,jock and lizzie were doing,it is hard to find quality work done now as the shearing has changed to getting out big numbers sacraficing the quality, another great video thumbs up
I saw you had a hump on your back! Then I saw it was the wee baby Jock!!!! He's so sweet!!! Lol
Some beautiful border leicesters you have shorn there! Love mine and love the big ears
Thanks for sharing
Shearing info and suddenly - BABY! 🤣 Love it.
My goodness! Those tups are bigger than you two! It was great to see Lizzie and baby Jock. Jock can really hang on tight!
I really enjoy the videos! I'm a new entrant and I find them very informative as well as entertaining!
Morn cammy, cant wait for tomorrow/Scotch sheep See you there maybe? that Tup was Massive
Loved you talking through the shearing. Looks hard work
I'm exhausted! That last ram wore me out. Good job. Thank you.
Fun to see Lizzy doing some filming? She did a good job. Wee Jock is growing sooo fast. Love the Boarder Leicester.
Please take care of your back. Stretching and a brace would be helpful. A strong belly menas a healthy back. 😂
Cracking video cammy as always. Your never fail to produce quality. Sheering is not an easy. Little jock was looking on thinking to himself one day that going to be working alongside my mammy & daddy
Loved the footage of the one tup that after shearing was like he was prompted to “show”, his posture so particular.
Ty lizzie we enjoyed our jock fix and your bonny as ever😍
Hi Cammy, happy to see your crew, hope they stop being camera shy. Go Lizzie, girl power.!😀👍
I never knew how much Katrina and the waves goes with sheep shearing.
Great video Cammy good to see you back at the shearing the wee family looking great 👌
Great to see Lizzie in action showing us how it's done! 😉
Funny Lizzie and wee Jock turned the tables on you with a bit of mischief 😆 That tip was as big as you! What did he weigh? I still think those texels look like those robotic dogs, something unnatural about all that bulk.
Seems we all can see what a super star Lizzie is. You're ok too though. 😜
luvved this vid! geez that was a beast of a ram! Love to see Lizzy show her talent at shearing! Women! And wee Jock is darling’🦌💌❤️🐑
Oh my goodness. That’s hard work. Couldn’t you wear a back support for the base of your spine? The sweat was dripping off you. Great video. Thank you.
I love the look of those long ear sheep, so funny looking.
Looks like some giant rabbits at the 2nd location. 😆
awesome video!!! also Walking on sunshine is my fav song ever!!!!!
Cammy, I'm sure you're aware of Sandi Brock in Ontario, Canada -- she's got a channel here on UA-cam and she also has her own website, Sheepishly Me. She puts up videos of her sheep being shorn frequently. She has a very interesting vlog that she posts to 2-3 times a week, and almost daily during lambing and again during the couple of weeks leading up to Christmas (she calls it Vlogmas!).
She has her sheep that are preggers shorn and their hooves trimmed about 6-7 weeks before they're due to lamb. She's got somewhere around 450 breeding ewes, and maybe 30-40 rams in her inventory. Contrary to the outside operation in this video, hers are entirely inside in a huge barn about 90 feet wide and 250 or so feet long. She also has another barn where she takes her lambs after they've been weaned, where she "finishes" them to about 100-105 pounds (US) and takes them to market, where they're mostly sold to meat producers.
Myself, I was born in Edinburgh, but raised almost entirely here in the USA. I was what would be called a "love child" -- I was conceived out of wedlock, so my birth-mum went to her folks in Edinburgh to hide until I was born, then we came back to the US where I was put up for adoption. My Dad was born in Glasgow, so he had the gutteral Clydeside accent. My Mum was born in a wee little village right on the border between Yorkshire and Scotland, so her accent was very North-of-England/Yorkshire. My accent I grew up speaking was a hybrid combination of the two patterns of speech.
But yes, I definitely celebrate my heritage -- I own a nice dress kilt (McFarlane Clan tartan) and I own a couple of the US produced Utili-Kilts. I also play the bagpipes -- VERY badly (I was a Music major in university).
Mark (Oklahoma, USA)
What a great story Mark. Good Scottish blood in u then 😁.
I know Sandi well she’s great!!
Lizzie and Joch lookin good , what a grip! Can’t believe it is shearing time again.
Fantastic job, those tups are huge, you are always happy that’s why I love your channel Cami !
The sheep just kept getting bigger!
Another great video Cammy. 👍
Give it another few weeks and you'll forget how sore you felt at the beginning of the shearing season. 😀
Translation time folks: Oxter = Armpit, Wrang = Wrong 👨🏫
Go Lizzie! Those rams at the first farm are amazing.
Great video and great to see Lizzie and Jock in Charge.....lol BTW Lizzie is a great shearer!!!! You are destined for greatness!!!!!
I admire your work ethic! That's alot of hard work.
You make it look easy, which is quite the tell of a master.
Another great video, Lizzy is superwoman. Won’t be long until wee jock is gathering the fleece up. Is there any difference in the texture of the wool from the rams compared to the ewes?
Tiny arms sheers big sheep…lol. love your channel thank you from California
You and yours are such hard workers. I loved the video and especially seeing the bub growing up.
That is a Big Guy, Jock is growing like a Weed, he is just Precious. 🤗
That big Ram that got a close shave( pink ) skin do you spray the.??
Well done on those Rams,They are huge, great camera work, how the season going
Great job guys and Jock you looking good
Joch is such a sweet boy and too cute. Good to see you and your family.
I could watch you and Jock shear all day.
Cammy you are strong ,you are picking up sheep the same size as you.
It’s a baby photobomb! Hi Lizzy and baby Jock! Cammy, some of those sheep are as big as you!
Jock's been working out. Love the gun show! 💪
Loved to see lizzy back with you sheering also there was some big sheep and as always love your videos Cammy
Those big boy sheep don't bend too well! They are huge! 🐏
That little boy of yours is a real cutie bug!
Ouch, I could feel your backs aching 😣👍😍
When do the Ewes wean the lambs? That would be interesting to see.
Cammy needs a wee snack and some Advil before shearing. It will help. Nice seeing Lizzy and Jock who already knows how to get Daddy's attention! 😆
A lovely new adventure as normal thanks clammy thanks Lizzie boy is baby sure frowning fast love his smile
Sorry my spelling is not on a good day cammie Lizzie and jock
Wow! Jock is getting big.
Which one?
Yes 😀
Another great video Cammy and congrats on the BBC host job. Did you do away with the Gold Members?
Cammy loving the vids, quick newbie sheep keeper question for you.
Just had the ewes sheared, (only 15 and I’m in Wales so thought it’d be too far for you to travel 😂 so never asked) When’s the best time to click them and the lambs after shearing? (Lambed I’m April)
Those rams are huge! Great work everybody.
Great vid Cammy. Good to see the team. Lizzy, what's it like to be back shearing? Like riding a 🚲, you don't forget?
I know this is a shearing vlog - have you every thought of doing a F1 (first cross) with a dorper sheep? - the lambs will still have wool and will still (should be) all white still - it would take a F1B (1/4 wool sheep to 3/4 dorper so the ewe lambs from this cross back to a dorper tup) to produce hair sheep - the growth rate in their lambs is something you should look into - they can reach a live-weight of 36kg at 3-4 months - interesting to do a wee flock of 20 ewes x dorper Tup - see if someone locally has one to purchase or to borrow for the test - make for interesting vlogging
Cammy, Inglis 70 sounds like a retired and experienced shepherd, and wants you to try experimental breeding. Sounds quite interesting.
