You are installing the air filter cage wrong. It tucks completely down in the filter. Pull the sealing edge up over the cage. The cage pins the filter to the airbox seal surface.
I’ve watched so many videos of you ripping 4-wheelers on that lawn but it still looks perfect?! Your parents must have made a deal with the devil to get a resilient grass like that.
Change needle clip position one spot at a time to lean it out. I'd put the other pilot back in it and try that. It's def running rich off idle. You want your plug to be a dry tannish color. Not wet
rich on top too you can hear it laying over as you get up to the gear change needs to run out a bit more and gain that extra couple horses And the tie rod you just have to break the jam nut and then spin the whole rod to lengthen or shorten it. Shouldn't need to take the whole ball joint off ✌️✌️
A tip while oiling your filters. 1) get a Ziploc freezer bag 2) put unsprayed filter in spray filter. 3) the over spray will stick to the inside of the bag if you rub the bag onto the filter it will transfer to the filter. This method works for storage as well ( you will have a clean filter at the end of every ride)
Cage for the air filter isn’t installed properly, cage should go behind the dark part so when you bolt it down it’s actually pushing the filter against the air box, the way you have it sit seeps right under where you put the grease

I know this is a old post but I just found this channel.. I had a friend/ neighbor that bought an ltr 250 we don't know what was exactly done to it but it would smoke everything that lined up with it and I had a trx 310r and it would blow past me even a 310 atc that was the baddest 250 on the planet ...even stock they are great machines..
he never claimed to be a mecanic i think :p he buys and sells quads, and fixes then so they run. just like me but i forget to sell them, cause you need to do the papers on my name and that cost me 60€ a quad and u need tu put insurance on it befor you can register is... so much shit and im lazy
For someone who knows so much about fixing these bikes he really needs to learn how to ride them. I cringe hearing the shifting and RPMs screaming at him. Seems like a nice guy but he don't listen to people cause he still does it with every bike. Using that throttle properly on 2 strokes is way important . This is why I haven't seen a proper wheelie on any bike yet esp the trikes . Those 350x Hondas can wheelie in idle after you pop it , it's all in the throttle. I think he would have way more fun if he would swallow the pride listen to viewers .

Yeah mate the air filter goes all the way over the cage and you need to tuck the cage in under the lip of the filter so the cage presses against the lip to make the seal. Otherwise sand will get down inside an blow ur bike.
Wrong oil on filter! K&N oil is for cotton gauze style filters. Foam air filter oil is super tacky. also like said below by Ken McConniel...the cage is installed wrong.
Reminds me of my 92 LTR. Loved that bike. Not telling you how to ride but all my 2 strokes liked to be short shifted. Don't like redlining them for long. Nice job. God bless. Beautiful collection man.

I have two big four-stroke bikes but I love two strokes, the noise and the powerband. In saying that I would be pissed if my neighbours son rocked up and made all that noise and riding on the road outside my house 🙉
Never heard of using grease to seal a filter but if you don’t wanna get oily hands when putting oil on a filter spray it and then put it in a zip lock bag spay some more oil in the bag then just kinda squeeze it
That's how I do mine. in a bag and soak the thing. Drain the excess then squeeze what I can out of the foam and drain that too. I heard somewhere that you're only meant to oil the outside of the foam not the whole thing but meh....

Coil may be lose.. sound coming from stator cover is a bit unsettling.. come down on the main jet.. seems a bit fat.. that red oil in the crankcase was likely 80w-90 honda trans oil.. WHAT THE BOOK CALLS FOR JOE!! Good luck with it

Nice quad that red stuff as you called it the Honda oil looked clean to me i dont know what kind of oil you put in it .But i would have left the high dollar red stuff in it lol Everyone runs the red line oil for a reason regardless of brand of quad because its the best oil you can put in a bike period especially if it has wet clutches and if its 4 stroke the best oil for the least ring wear to ! I have ran it all even synthetic's in bikes that you can and none of it compares to the Honda oil ! And dude the jetting is still screwed up the main jet is to big from the looks of those plugs and the way it sounded that ride is not even trying to open up and sing ! It ides ok but its starving for hotter spark and air I cant believe it ides that well ! It even sounds like the plug is not hot enough ! Its wet fowling the plug bad you can hear it ! Put a hotter NGK in it and change the jet back to a smaller main jet ! That thing should pull the front wheels in the first three gears easy and its weak as water you must have a firing issue something is weak if its not the plug fowled out or wrong plug maybe something else in the firing system is going out or shorted out you said the light quit working check that wire you just made and then the rectifier with a meter and see how many ohms its putting out or if its shorted out then go to coil and then stator !
I love watching the videos because of the various machines and problems, I just don't always agree with the methodology...but that being said I wish I was financially able to do what u r doing...
Sounding crisp I think your pretty close with the tuning, something still sounds off especially in the low rpm but I'm sure you'll get it dailed. Are you going to take care of the missing water pump bolt? Look forward to the race and can't wait to see the big 500 brought back to life, hope you have managed to get parts.
I always thought the quadracers seemed to have a bit less responsive snap, revs & crisp sound in comparison to the regular RMs but, that one seems like it rips.Maybe the pipe plus some other work was done to it?
I killed my ' Zook LT230 s, oil.filler cap came off, I was 16.5 km from truck when it lost 20% power, then died. 5 hr walk back in MX boots .ouch. I think the crank , rod & bearings took a lot of heat, so I'm assuming they are all fried . Still haven't opened it up, just cleaned it up, drained gas , sprayed carb inside w/.wd 40 to protect the delicate brass parts, I'll do an autopsy in mid winter . Safety wire those caps on , people ! Don't do what Donny don't , did ! ( Me)
runs like shit off the bottom.. but most of the 2 strokes he touches never run right ..air filter not installed properly, bolt missing from water pump cover ?, crappy job oiling the filter, still doesn't know how to shift .......

Guys with more experience try to help him out, but he just keeps doing the same stupid stuff. Listening to other people, is the best way to learn. I've been riding / working on two strokes for over 40 years, and I still learn something occasionally. But this kid is just stubborn, thinks he knows it all.
Any oil will do,you don’t need To go out and buy fancy spray oil in a can to oil your air filter,save $$$ when you can guy,better in your pocket than some faceless Corp.
Have you checked the tire pressure on the front Joe? that could be a problem if one has more air than the other.. Just a thought. Wheel Bearings or possibly the front brakes are sticking?
With all due respect, you shouldn't warm a 2-stroke by just letting it sit there and idle. The best way to do it is to lug it around in 2nd with the occasional throttle modulation or rev to midrange until it reaches proper temp.
Hey, my knowledge on quads is lacking. I wondered though what sort of tyre/tire pressures do you need in one of these? I guess about 20 psi maybe? Looks like the front end has plenty of adjustment to dial the geometry in which is nice. Might be worth a video showing that being done perhaps?

The front tires are backwards. Check air pressure, flip them around and fix front brake and she'll smooth out a lot.

That water hose coming from the water pump is EXTREMELY close to the exhaust pipe.
From my experience most 2cycle engines clear out when u change gears and put a load on them instead of holding throttle wide open in one gear.

Need to adjust your jet needle clip position. Move your clip up on the needle one position. Mid to 3/4 throttle will be much cleaner.
The front tires are directional and need to be switched.

I don't know but what a strange sound in first and second gear .seems like it's how you drive..you must shift faster in the first 2 gears
Do you check the gap on your spark plugs before installing? I’ve had new plugs be off by like 50%.

4 psi front an back bub. They are tubeless tires in all sport quads.
Might just be me or the camera angle but when you were adjusting the tow the inner rim looks bent.
I wouldn't sale this bike ..These will only get harder to find esp running and in good shape.
